Our party of 4 came in and were surprised by the friendliness of the staff in this small town. It's a clean, cute cafe, (the bathroom is dated but super clean). The iced tea was definitely fresh, too. We ordered our food, which arrived piping hot. I asked for my Salisbury steak with mashed potatoes to have only a bit of gravy and it arrived just like I like it. The potatoes are from scratch (as is the cornbread). My spouse really liked his country fried steak, mashed potatoes, and pickled beets. My peach cobbler was so good. My spouse ordered the signature white pie and Omgee it was amazing. I do local deliveries and don't have a lot of time so I just called in a cheeseburger and a pie to this place. $15.00. Not a big deal of a price until I got the burger. Looked like some sort of tiny gas station soy Pattie and a regular old Walmart bun, not even a warm or grilled bun. This thing shouldn't have been more than $3.00. I get they aren't a burger place but it's definitely the worst I've had from a mom and pop home style restaurant. Pie was amazing as usual otherwise they'd have gotten 1 star. They've got to get rid of the cheap burger meat though. That was awful. If I had more time I would've complained but I had to get back to work. read more

I was in the area visiting my local dealer and this place came up on Yelp. Bam!!! Great job Yelpers. This is a locals hidden gem in the middle of nowhere. Third generation and friendly. Lots of locals as it is a few miles off the interstate. Old school local cafe with bar stools and all. Very clean and looks like it has been remodeled recently. Not fancy but just good service, great food and a friendly atmosphere all at a good price. Typical meat and three. Nice long standing local place that we stopped in at twice during our visit back home, once just for pie and coffee, and once for lunch with more pie. I was very happy with my fried catfish lunch plate. Great food and service, especially considering I had my Momma with us the 2nd visit and it takes her a long while to eat. Waitress was great and understanding. Momma loves coconut cream pie, but they had just ran out. Why have I never heard of WHITE PIE? Magic ingredients are inside this delicious white pie, their crust is flaky and this pie is sweetly addictive. Been going to Burtons since I was a kid and still enjoy coming back from time to time! The food isn't absolutely amazing, but it's a classic mom and pop diner. It's been around for so long, so I still like to support when in town by coming to grab a home style cooked meal and of course a slice of pie. They do have good salads at Burtons and average food, but I still would recommend it because there aren't a lot of these restaurants in the area! Burtons is well known for their pie! My personal favorite I've been getting for 20 years is the coconut cream pie, but most in the area would tell you to get the White Pie! I don't think you can go wrong with either!! Also I like their corn nuggets and jello and are good options for kids! (I used to get them all the time when my grandma and grandpa would bring me, they always had the best kids menu) read more

Camping at Rend Lake and we didn't feel like cooking so we found this cafe. Our food was very good (ribeye special) on a Friday night. It hit the spot. My husband enjoyed his chopped steak and his beets. We got a piece of white pie to go because we were stuffed. (Apple pie sold out when we were there). First time at Burton's. It was a Sunday after church and they were full with no tables available. But the smell kept me there, it was so good I had to try it. The one young lady told me she had been working there 3 years and loved it. Employers should be lucky to find great staff like these two ladies. Me and my wife were getting ready to go to the state fair when she read on Facebook somebody raving about Burton's Café and they're white pie. So we decided to take a road trip and took the convertible on route 37 all the way to Burton's Café ,easy location to find. The restaurant was clean, and the staff was friendly. I had the roast pork platter and my wife had a hamburger and fries. We had the white pie for dessert. I asked for some raisin pie also, but they had already ran out. We didn't get there till about six in the evening though. The taste of the white pie reminded me of divinity candy that you have at Christmas time. It was white and fluffy though. Using Yelp on a road trip, we found this little cute place with good food. Really, it is a meat and three type place with extra offerings. It is cute and relaxing inside. There were several tables of people, but it wasn't load. It was very relaxing and nice. Our waitress seemed well versed on the menu choices and provided good descriptions. We ordered the Burtons Burger and the Pulled Pork platter with corn and green beans. All was very good. The pulled pork came with delicious gravy. We then ordered two pieces of pie... the famous white pie and then the coconut creme pie. We were disappointed in the pies. Three coconut cream pie didn't have enough coconut taste and the crust was thin on the bottom. Stopped here on my way from Edwardsville to Murray for cheap comfort food and I was astonished at the quality of food for the price. My boyfriend and I split fried mushrooms (MUST TRY- SIMPLY AMAZING), a lunch plate of catfish bites with two side orders of mashed potatoes with white gravy and some cornbread and we both LOVED every bite.
