We ate here for breakfast when we stayed at the DoubleTree hotel. This restaurant is located inside the hotel. Pros: Cant beat the location and price....it was free since I was staying at the hotel. Staff was friendly and regularly checked up on us to refill coffees. Cons: Seems like the staff had a hard time keeping up with the food in the buffet area. 2 out of the 3 times I went up, the trays were half empty. I had limited time so not having food readily available was unfortunate. read more

A convenient place to eat if you're staying at the Doubletree or one of the other close-by hotels. I was staying at the Holiday Inn, and the desk clerk mentioned that if I showed my room key, I'd get a 10% discount. Had she not mentioned the restaurant, I probably wouldn't have tried it or even found it! I think I would have been better off had I not found it. I ordered a BLT. There was a good amount of B to go along with the L&T on that sandwich. But it was average tasting at best. Very greasy and salty. It was served with salty fries. It didn't take me long to finish my beer. The fries were shoestring, and there were quite a bit of em. If you're on a shoestring budget, you could probably get away with sharing the sandwich with someone. I couldn't finish mine. I'm not really sure if it was because it was a lot of food, or if it was the salt saturation. Either way, I didn't ask for a box. They have steak and burgers, too. I saw some of those making their way to tables, and the folks seemed to be enjoying them. So you could probably give it a try. Quick Tip: I saw a sign stating that if you pay with cash, they'll give you a 10% discount. I tried using cash AND show my room key to get a combined 20% off. That didn't fly with my server. I only got the 10% off. Who knows if it was the cash or room. I was hoping that the server would ask which room I was in. Just kidding, NMT. It's a good thing I had a couple of beers in my room. They have local St Louis Schlafly beers to compliment your meal. I highly recommend this place if you happen to be in the area even if you're just passing by. I had the blackened shrimp skewers. They were so salty that I couldn't finish the 2nd skewer. They were served with some of the most pathetic grilled asparagus I've ever seen. They looked like shoestring asparagus versus the healthy stalks one finds in the supermarket. My meal was $20; not terrible for shrimp. When I informed the server that the shrimp bordered on inedible due to salt, management offered me $1.80 off my bill (10%) that basically covered the tax. I paid my bill and left. read more

I came here twice during my stay. The first time was for dinner. I got the fried shrimp, with asparagus and fries as my sides. Everything was really delicious. I cleaned my plate. That said, the wait time was horrendous. I joked with my friend that the restaurant is called "Double Overtime" because you don't get your food until then. I came back for drinks later that evening. Attached to the Double Tree hotel, and the best traits of this restaurant is the staff. The staff is great and probably the main reason I keep returning. The drinks are good and well priced. The food is typical for a hotel bar in the Midwest, which could be improved. I'll be back but I might stick with a burger and make sure to order the salad with the dressing on the side. read more

Several of us had the steak salad. The meat on the salad was prepared as ordered and good. The salad had some brown and older pieces. The bacon vinegarette would have been better warm. After a long drive I was staying at the Double Tree and due to the weather didn't feel like going back out. Was pleasantly surprised by the food and service. This restaurant is in our town and we eat here often! We brag that they have the best steak in MTV to everyone. There is a server here who always remembers us and remembers our drinks no matter if it's been a week or a month since we've last come in. This is a solid place to eat, not excellent just solid- especially if staying in the hotel. I highly encourage the sweet potato fries- super savory. The nachos are nothing special- they said poblano and I assumed it would have poblano peppers- but none. I think there are salads are excellent. The appetizers are not shareable size I will say. New in city 2016, late. Large space, but intimate feel. People seem to know the business, at least in bar where we drank and stayed for dinner. Brandy and Heather did nice job Glassware is top drawer. This may seem unimportant, but think about last time you were served a drink in "klunky" stemware and cocktail glass. Makes a difference, but also says something about everything else. Immediately raised expectations. Not disappointed. Now Holiday Inn and grill will have to live down typical reputation of predecessor. Soon to be Double Tree. BTW about ten Tesla charging stations just outside Grill door. Menu is not large, but full dinner fare. I had ribeye, baked potato and salad. Asked for and received ample amount of dried Roquefort. Another little thing that speaks volumes. Wife had fried shrimp and frits. All were excellent. Real test. Will we return? Will we reorder? Yes and yes. Absolutely. We are locals looking for something upscale from medium-fast value restaurants that abound in Mount Vernon. One word of caution, softened by the no volume. This is an atypical sports bar. Lots of TVs but low volume and did not feel like Buffalo Wild Wings, which is next door. Prices are higher but definitely reasonable for the outcome. May even keep out the younger, more boisterous crowd. Good strong competition to one of our other local favorites, Rare Chop House. Delighted to have two excellent and unexpected hangouts. read more

What an awesome surprise this place turned out to be! I had lobster and grilled asparagus and my husband had the patty melt. I also tried their new house draft on tap. Everything was absolutely superb--French fries light and crisp, tasty rye bread piled high with angus beef, and lobster was better than any we had in Cape Cod! Under construction when we went so I'm sure that was what caused some of the problems. Salmon was dry. Texas tea was mixed poorly and didn't taste good...way too strong. If I think an alcoholic drink is too strong then IT'S TOO STRONG! My husband had the talapia and it was pretty good. The broccoli was flavorful and really fresh so that was a plus. Incredibly terrible, I had the lobster which is the "best" on their menu. I asked the bar tender if this was a fresh lobster and she said yes. After 50 min I got my lobster rock frozen out of the freezer on a plate. I told the bartender and they took it back. They brought out the exact same lobster; this time microwaved. See the thing I travel all around the country every week and I try all food and restaurants and this was by far the worse. I was in my hotel room sick like a dog with food poisoning.
