Took 10 minutes to get our food and 35 minutes to get our check Food was ok though. The restaurant itself is really cute and the decor has a nice farmhouse feel to it. Start by saying it's a very clean and friendly restaurant. The minute we walked in we were greeted with a smile and a warm hello. We were told to sit wherever and they would be right with us. As soon as we were seated they brought water and took our drink order. We ordered toasted ravioli and a jumbo shrimp dinner with fries and potato soup. I was very pleased to be able to support this establishment. Service was friendly & very prompt, despite being busy (great sign!). Nice clean atmosphere. You could tell the customers were faithful regulars because the staff knew their names and were very personable with them. The owner was present and expressed her gratitude to each customer. I had the bacon cheese burger and my wife had the chicken wrap. Both meals had a choice of sides. We chose fries. Both meals were very filling and my wife took home half of the wrap. the burger was great and came with pickles, lettuce, onions, and tomato on the side. I chose Swiss cheese. The burger was cooked well and had good flavor. My wife said the wrap was delicious. The fries were awesome!! They were busy and the service was good. Wait staff was friendly. Update: It's my first time back since COVID-19. I was happy to see social distancing, a lot of sanitizing, and the wait staff wore their masks PROPERLY (no noses hanging over the mask. Don't people realize that those two holes in their face are connected?) This region is riddled with scofflaws who think masks make you sick. (Ignorance gone to seed!) I started with the Wisconsin cheese curds. Purely delicious, and a very generous portion. (I took half of them home) The house salad (I asked for no cheese) was good and fresh too. Then I tried my favorite--cod, but BROILED this time...and...pure heaven. Tasty, flakey, and mild, just the way I like it. I didn't care for the corn on the cob, tho. (Never have liked frozen corn on the cob, since it gets mushy). But that was a very small thing. I had plenty To enjoy--including some drawn butter for my broiled cod! Yum. Even the attention to the presentation was good--definitely unusual in the restaurants in this town! Oh. We happened upon this place on a road trip through the southern part of Illinois. We decided to give it a try after reading the reviews on Yelp. First of all, we were greeted at the door with fantastic customer service immediately. We ordered food to go, and it was packed (and labeled!) with care. We were offered ketchup, mustard, napkins, and utensils. We ordered two cheeseburger kids meals and the kids raved about the French fries. At first sight, they thought the meals were small. After eating the burger, my son commented about how big the patty actually was. We ordered The Cowboy Chicken sandwich--everything on this sandwich just worked together. High quality chicken that was seasoned well. The bbq sauce just lit up my mouth! The onion rings had a nice crunch and the mozzarella cheese just topped it off. Each bite was better than the last bite, and unfortunately it was then all gone. The alpine chicken sandwich was fantastic as well. The cheese on top was super melted, which was fantastic for blending with the mushrooms. The chicken was real chicken--fantastic spice! We were offered refills on our drinks even though we weren't dining in. The sweet tea is super fresh! We would happily visit here again! Here visiting for work, so my colleague and I decided to come here for lunch. I had the catfish and she had the gyro. The food was so ooo delicious! Stopped here just passing through town. Saw this had the best reviews in town.. when we arrived, we weren't super impressed by the outwardly appearance. It was cute in the inside, but the booths were really old and covered in duct tape on the seats. There was a weird smell in the restaurant that we just couldn't shake. I'm not sure if it was a chemical smell from bleach or another smell, but it was just unpleasant. The food was in big portions and it was pretty good - prices were pretty normal - nothing to complain about for the food!! The ketchup bottle on our table was super greasy.
