Such an awful experience. Our water heater was leaking- they were the first ones available and of course we needed soonest possible due to a trip so we went with them. My fault: I didn't see that there was a big sticker on the water heater stating that is was still under warranty until they arrived, but technician brushed it off saying that they are too hard to get a hold of etc. so we would need to just buy from them and install with them. Ok I guess, after an hour I had a strange feeling so I called the number on the sticker and the company quickly answered and said yes of course it is under warranty, can just be swapped out at Home Depot or they could come replace it at no cost. By this time the technician had already purchased a new water heater and said he couldn't return water heater where they buy it but I could go swap mine out anyway after buying his and he could reimburse me $600 for heater even though it's worth $1200 but the owner said they get half off water heaters so that's what it's worth to them. So after losing money on a water heater and giving it to them for a much lower price they still charged me $1700 for 2 hours of labor of installing a not as good water heater (over $800 an hour in labor) An ethical person/true professional could have just led me to call the warranty company that it was still under when they saw that. This review is about 10 days overdue, but I would be remiss if I didn't take the time to write about the exceptional service, care, and courtesy that I have received from Burtech Plumbing during 3 different encounters that included pressure regulator installation, mainline repair and locating (Bill is a wizard at finding a hidden mainline), and installation of plumbing in the front yard. For the most recent experience, I was provided service by Jaime, who spent a considerable amount of time locating a rather tricky mainline in the front yard at an old home that I recently purchased, and instead of giving in (which many would have) after digging a fairly long trench, he instead went with an experiential instinct to successfully locate the mainline needed to create a T line that would ultimately allow for a hose bib to be placed in my front yard in preparation for future landscaping projects. Not having a hose bib in the front yard, I had to run 100 feet of hose around the house from back to front in order to just water the plants and hose off the deck. Because of Jaime's diligence, expertise, and effort, my life has been made exponentially easier in having hose/plumbing access in the front yard. To top it all off, Jaime ensured that my previous irrigation system mainline was properly capped off and deactivated so that no leaks would occur during the artificial turf installation, which was highly appreciated. And the best part of it all, Jaime was courteous, communicative, and informative in walking me through the process. The final piece that day was the installation of a water conditioner at a great value. Happy to now have my appliances and pipes protective from corrosive mineral deposits. In summary, I would highly recommend Burtech Plumbing to folks living in the San Diego area, and I plan to remain a loyal customer with the level of courtesy and care that I have received. I had a leak in our rental property. Over 2 weeks, I used the HOA recommended plumber, plumber that the owner of the condo above wanted us to use, a leak and remediation company and Burtech. The first plumber thought it was the unit above us so I reached out the them when we were going to cut a whole in the ceiling above our shower and he thought it was their shower pan or drain leaking. They wanted to use their own plumber so we did and they cut into our ceiling and found no water. He cut a whole in the wall near where the wetness of the carpet was and saw a pipe from units above leading down to the garage under us. So they thought it was the common pipe. Next day we got keys to the upper unit and when the water was run, no leak. So must be our unit. Now we went back to the original plumber (John Padilla Plumbing), whom the HOA referred and he noticed a cut in the lining of the drain so thought it was the drain. They quoted me over $2k to replace the drain. I thought that was ridiculous so wanted another opinion so contacted a leak and remodel company. Star Flood Restoration was referred by the property manager of the condo above us. They came out the same day and thought they could just change out the liner of the drain. They told me it would be $200 and gave them $100 down and say I would pay the $100 after it was fixed. He came back the next day and turned out he just applied some silicone to cut in the drain liner. Next day he tested it and it still leaked. They aren't plumbers so that's all they could do. Meanwhile I just received an invoice for close to $800. $100 to diagnose. $200 to do the repair and $560 to "rent" their dehumidifier. I never authorized them to bring a dehumidifier nor did I agree to pay them for it. I had no idea it was there. So that'll be a fun call to deal with this. Finally I called Burtech, who I found on Yelp. Kyle came and we tested the shower and realized that the drain actually wasn't leaking, and when running the shower to different areas we found the area where the shower was leaking. Seems like the caulking around the base of the shower was leaking. So that saved me a ton of money as the $2k drain fix might not have worked and would might have had to remove the enclosure to get the shower pan out. I felt bad that Burtech did such a good job and assessed it correctly that didn't have any "work" to do so had Kyle replace the sink plunger. Will reach out to Burtech every time we have a plumbing issue. I wasted 10 days dealing with other plumbers who had no clue and who overcharge. Thanks Kyle and Burtech! read more

Twice in two cranky, mid-century houses, Burtech has come to my rescue with decent folks providing excellent service. Instance 1: I was quoted a "number with a big comma" by one company. They insisted the wall needed to be taken out, etc. etc. It just turned out to be an awkward snaking job. It has been 6 months and we have assiduously monitored the wall, the sink, and the pipes under the house. No leak, no blowout: it really was just a clog. Instance 2: Watching a friend's house and the shower began dripping pretty aggressively. First and foremost, the plumber who came out was a decent human being. Here is my original project explanation on Yelp for installing a new toilet except for my address. "I live in a 3 bedroom 20-year-old manufactured home and would like a toilet replaced. I have a new Toto Drake elongated toilet that's supposed to be delivered Friday 6/27/25. There's a smaller toilet installed in our bathroom now that's in good shape but just too small/short I'd like hauled away. The rough-in measurement from flange bolts to wall is 12-1/4" so the new toilet should fit. I've replaced toilets before but they're getting too heavy for me to lift. Everything should be ready to go and I have a new 20" flex water line & wax flange seal. I wouldn't think the replacement should take anymore than 2-3 hours so please give me a price quote. I live in Park Encinitas just South of the intersection of Leucadia. I'm easy to work with and flexible on the appointment. Thank you, Stacy (Mr.)" I received 6-8 price quotes from some very nice contractors/handy people and replied to them all. Burtech Plumbing was the lowest quote/bid at $299.00 for installing my new Toto toilet and hauling away the old one. Crystal in their Vista CA office was a pleasure to deal with in setting up an exact appointment for July 9, 2025 from 2-4pm. On July 9th Burtect Plumbing Technician Juan arrived at 12:45pm. I wasn't quite ready for an appointment 1-1/4 hours early but could deal with it. Juan looked at the water valve/line coming out of the floor behind the toilet and said "We don't work with PEX water line, particularly 'PEX type B' water line like you have." I asked him why not and he said, "PEX B" water line has it's problems and I don't have a fitting band crimper on my truck. I asked him if other technicians have that type of crimper on their trucks and he said some might. Juan had pulled the new Toto Drake elongated toilet bowl out of the box and also the separate new tank. He said one problem is that the Toto toilet is "comfort-size" so it's taller than the older toilet which I already knew. But he said the water shut-off valve has the line to the toilet as a one piece valve and the line to the toilet is crimped on. I could see that and he said the water line is too short to reach the new toilet water supply. It should be noted I had a brand new 20" stainless steel flex line but you couldn't connect it to the old shut-off valve. Juan had mentioned he has almost 30-year of plumbing experience and I could tell he was knowledgeable. But I asked him for a solution to our supposed problems and he in turn called his supervisor on his cell phone while having it on speakerphone. When he told his supervisor I had PEX B line the supervisor said, "Tell the homeowner we will install all new copper pipe for ...." and Juan clicked off the speaker part of his phone so I couldn't hear. Juan got off the phone and told me he will have to work up an estimate for installing a new shut-off valve in addition to the cost of the toilet install. I told him, "I am not going to have all new copper pipe installed and wouldn't pay for it." He said he understood. Juan worked up an estimate on his phone and emailed it to me. He told me the cost of providing and installing that new water shut off valve would be $286.00. I told him that was ridiculous to charge me $268 for installing that little valve and now the estimate had doubled in price from $299 to $605.48. As a 74-year-old senior citizen I felt like I was being taken advantage of and being ripped off. Burtech Plumbing didn't want to do anything but replace all the plumbing in my house with copper or charge me an outrageous price for installing a small shut-off valve. Juan didn't act friendly anymore and quickly put the new toilet parts back in the boxes while almost running out of here. I didn't say anything other than the price was ridiculous and believe he was upset he wasn't going to sway me into spending a bunch of money. It should be noted we live in a very nice manufactured home which is only 20-years-old. Why are they surprised we have PEX water line which is installed in almost all manufactured homes?? One of the reasons I included the term "manufactured home" in my project description. I also wonder what this magic "7009 - Emergency Shut Off 1/2 x 3/8 Angle Iron Pipe" or valve is which costs $286.00?? I don't even think it's described correctly in the estimate and since the water line is coming straight up out of the floor to toilet tank water supply overhead a "straight - through" valve should used. After having such a bad experience with this plumbing service I couldn't bring myself to contact another contractor or handyman which I should have. I ran down to Home Depot and bought a $17 "Shark Bite Straight-Through 1/2" x 3/8" Water Shut-Off Valve" and installed in the PEX line/no leaks. I then removed the old toilet and installed the new Toto toilet with some install/lifting help from my son-in-law. No, I will not recommend Burtech Plumbing the way I was treated. read more
