Beyti with a side of fries
Caitlyn M.

Came back for dinner on a Tuesday night. I wanted something light so I had the lentil soup and the combo appetizer platter. I'm lactose intolerant so I asked if I could swap the haydari with some extra ezme instead and they were very accommodating. It was served with freshly griddled pita which went well with all the dips. I also enjoyed the chickpea salad. The soup was good too. My friend got a shrimp kebab which she loved. She said she was thinking about it since the last time she ordered it. The service was great too. The staff is always very friendly and nice!

Bursa remains one of our family favs. We came to celebrate a birthday abs ordered: 1. fresh sliced cucumber - big discs, crunchy and good. 2. Falafel - 4 per order. They didn't over cook or burned it this time and was good. Served with tahini. 3. Lentil soup - tasty but didn't have the umami flavor it did before. 4. Fries - crispy and not oily and generous portion. Entrees: salmon, beef and lamb koffie kebab, chicken kebab, lamb chops. I ordered my go to dish which I order every time I visit, beef stroganoff. It was cooked perfectly today, full of flavor, beef and chopped pickles and sliced mushrooms over rice pilaf. Staff is always friendly and welcoming. They get crowded early and don't take reservations, so going early for dinner recommended.

Bursa is a hidden gem located in the West Portal neighborhood. On a weeknight my party of 2 was able to just walk-in around 5:45 with no reservations. Service -- waiter seated us quickly and brought menus, took order. Very good service, also brought check as soon as I requested it. Ambiance - Nicely decorated with banquette seating along the wall, and also not noisy (it was around half full). Very colorful and pleasant. Food - Now for the best part -- really good Middle Eastern food! I saw the restaurant on Check Please Bay Area and it looked amazing. Since there were just 2 of us with smaller appetites, we split the hummus appetizer with fresh pita, and the falafel salad. The Falafels have cheese and raisins in them -- so good! If I visited again with 2 more people, they have a large appetizer plate that includes baba ganoush, hummus and 3 or 4 other foods to dip in. Wine list was also good, I had a very nice glass of Crossings Sauvignon Blanc. There is street parking but you might have to drive around a bit. We parked 2 blocks away. I definitely plan to return.

The food is always amazing here. top tier lentil soup, great dippers and the kebab plates are filling and wonderful complete with an excellent and nutritious side salad of arugula and plenty of rice! the service was nice, easy to call the staff over and they were really quick with the water refills and the restaurant is clean with plenty of booth seating (my favourite) I've been here several times and Im always excited to go back.

Came for lunch on a Sunday with a party of six. Restaurant was not busy and we were seated right away. The waitstaff was nice and attentive. We ordered an appetizer and various lunch combos: chicken kabobs, veg kabobs, wraps. These entrees came with rice, hummus and salad. The food didn't take long to serve. Everything was delicious, chicken was tasty and moist, salad was fresh. There is metered street parking on West Portal, but since we came on a Sunday, parking was free. If no parking available, the nearby streets will have some curb parking if you're lucky! Restaurant is clean, beautiful decor, and the restroom is unisex. Definitely a go to spot for delicious Mediterranean food in the city!

It has been a while since we have dined here. Came in over the weekend while we were in the neighborhood. The location. . . West Portal (I consider West Portal to be a hidden gem location) The decor. . . nice, clean and well thought out design and color scheme The menu . . . small with nice selections, and a couple of daily specials The food. . . Very good. But I have to admit not quite as exceptional as the first visit Musakka - this was different than you may be used to. Served in a dish and is more of a stew and less "lasagna-like". The eggplant, zucchini and potatoes were cooked perfectly (not mushy), the flavors were still good. The top notch service was excellent from beginning to end. I think it is all good.

Happy to have found this place! Very delicious, a wide variety of items to try. I got the lamb skewers, came with rice and a salad. Not a traditional Greek salad though. The spreads were all good. The staff was lovely. A little bit of a tight fit inside with a high chair but we made it work.

Adana Kebab Dinner

This was a nice find in the West Portal area. The food was amazing! Full of flavor. The lentil soup was delicious and the Adana kabob was full of flavor. The staff is very friendly and attentive. Cute nicely decorated restaurant you should visit!

Spicy Adana wrap
Nikole D.

Excellent restaurant nestled in the neighborhood of west portal. Great take on Mediterranean foods and flavors. Food: I had the spicy adana which was really good. But we ordered four of their other wraps and if I were to rate them it'd be: 1. Salmon 2. Citrus chicken 3. Spicy Adana 4. Kofte Now the spicy Adana and the kofte were almost the same taste. Which is not surprising because the only difference is the haydari. The salmon was fresh, had a good blend of each ingredient complimenting each other, and fills you up nicely. Same with the chicken, but salmon was just slightly better. Definitely will come back again!

Marquise au chocolat April 2026

Just as good as our first visit. Glad they are consistent. This time we had room for dessert. Boy o boy!!! It was amazing! Kunefe was crazy good! The warm cheese and syrup were such good complements with the philo dough and crushed pistachios. The marquise au chocolat cake was decadent! When you have both desserts together, it's like a Dubai Chocolate, lol!!! Trust me and have room for dessert. You will thank me!

What a gem! Bursa is an absolute must-try. The baba ganoush was truly exceptional--delicate yet full of flavor--especially when paired with the soft, warm pita and that silky-smooth eggplant. The lamb and beef mixed koobideh was juicy and perfectly spiced with wonderful Mediterranean flavors. We also ordered the beef stroganoff, which was a delightful surprise and instantly became my favorite dish. Don't skip dessert--the homemade baklava is a must, with a generous layer of rich pistachio paste and perfectly crisp, delicate phyllo. Excellent service, plus pleasant indoor and outdoor seating, made the experience even better. Can't wait to come back!

Bursa wine list

I had the chance to join a few friends for a 6 PM dinner at Bursaa charming yet narrow restaurant located in West Portal. Upon arrival, all the tables were occupied, and we were informed of a 10-15 minute wait. We added our name to the list, and within five minutes, a party was wrapping up and leaving their table. We seemed to have arrived at just the right time, as four more parties came in shortly after us. We were seated by a friendly host and introduced to our server, who was very attentive and handed us the dinner menu and wine list. As we browsed, we started some small talk and selected drinks. Two of us ordered the 2022 Crossings (New Zealand) Sauvignon Blanc, while our other friend chose Efes, a Turkish pilsner (a 300 ml bottle dated October 2024). For an appetizer, we ordered two plates of Dolmas ($6 each), which arrived with four pieces per plate and a refreshing cucumber yogurt sauce. The Dolmas, while flavorful, seemed as though they had been stored in a refrigerator and were slightly firmer than I prefer. That said, they delivered excellent flavor, with hints of herbs, mild spices like allspice and cumin, and what seemed to be pine nuts. Despite the thick texture, the grape leaves were a lovely start to our Turkish meal. For the main course, I debated between the Musakka and the kebabs and asked our server for her recommendation. She suggested the Adana Kebab if I wanted something spicy or the Köfte Kebab for a milder option. On her advice, I decided to combine both. My friends ordered the Musakka and the Beyti (ground beef and lamb wrapped in lavash). Before the food arrived, we had our 2018 Chimney Rock Elevage opened, enhancing the dining experience. The food preparation was impressively quick, and our dishes were served within 10 minutes of ordering. Each dish looked incredible. The Musakka arrived bubbling hot, the Beyti was beautifully presented with a dollop of yogurt and tomato sauce surrounding the lavash-wrapped pieces, and the kebabs were served over a bed of rice alongside a simple side salad. The Köfte came on a skewer, while the Adana kebabs were not. The kebabs were delicious. The Adana Kebab had a fiery spice, as promised, but it wasn't overpowering--it complemented the flavors well. While they appeared a bit dry at first glance, this wasn't the case; both were moist and flavorful. I enjoyed the Köfte slightly more than the Adana, but I would happily order both again. The Musakka, however, was a bit of a disappointment for my friend. The preparation wasn't what he expected, feeling more like a "Musakka surprise" than the traditional layered dish he'd had before. The Yukon potatoes were thicker than he preferred, and while the flavor was good, he mentioned he would choose something different next time. The Beyti, on the other hand, was a hit. My friend who ordered it had enjoyed it before and once again appreciated the flavorful mix of ground beef and lamb. The yogurt and tomato sauce were the perfect accompaniments, elevating the dish. All in all, it was a wonderful evening of good food and great company. Our total came to about $140, including corkage, which felt reasonable. The staff were professional and efficient, and the owner was present, engaging with diners--a nice personal touch. I would definitely recommend Bursa to anyone in the West Portal area looking for a delightful Turkish dining experience.

The portion size, flavor, and texture of this is amazing! The veggies and herbs are incredibly fresh. This is my favorite and I would 100% order this again. + Beyti [5/5]: Very impressive dish. The beef/lamb meat in this is pretty tender and a thick cut. The tomatoes add a nice sweetness throughout the dish, and the cheese is super fluffy and light pairing. Yummy! The Stuffed falafel was so good and huge 1 is enough for 2 people. The mosabaha was very refreshing and so good. The meat combo was good overall and everything was very herbally spiced, I wasn't impressed by the lamb tho but the kebab, hummus, and chicken were great! I haven't had Mousakhan before so not sure how it should taste but to me it was sweet and savory with really well cooked chicken. I honestly felt pretty healthy overall cause I was eating hella veggies and everything tasted so fresh. The kunafa was good we got it crispy and was yummy imo but was a lil oily (I think this is normal tho). Arab food isn't really spicy but it is spiced and very herbal which I felt in the food here, I appreciate that chili sauce is provided for the spice lovers. Overall, would highly recommend. It was about $100ish for everything and they recently increased their prices but tbh the portion sizes are huge and I feel like it is so worth it we had hella leftovers.
