My friends and I were looking around for a place to eat and came across here. Had heard from a bud that it was a good. My order was wrong. My friend had a rotten street corn and she found out once she already bitten into it. Her boyfriend ordered fries and then was told they didn't have any and was unable to get a refund and was just given chips. My boyfriend was content with his order. It seems to be hit or miss. With the competitive market for Tex Mex flooded with alternatives (especially in a college town like Gainesville)-sometimes you can miss out on a hidden gem. Such was my case with Burrito Famous. I just started going there and have had three excellent experiences thus far. It's a small stores at the corner of 34th and Newberry and I must have driven by there hundreds of times and never stopped in. BOY, was I missing out ! It's a small burrito shop , with BIG flavors, very Fresh ingredients and many many options for the vegetarian and vegans in your life- while being able to satisfy the carnivores as well. Service is excellent, you don't feel rushed like at other "big box" Tex mex places - you can take you time and hand craft a masterpiece. Burrito Famous is now my Gator post game "go to" joint. It's not Chipotle. It's different. The Chipotle model is based on simplicity and quality. BF is about options and customization. With more free toppings you get more bang for your buck. The guac is 3 times cheaper too (@ $.60 vs $1.80) and it was good (made fresh, along with all their other salsas). I was able to build a burrito bowl with great, complex flavor combinations. For that, BF will be in my rotation. The meat quality will come down to personal preference. All the meat is shredded, including the chicken. I prefer grilled and chopped. Chipotle would take the edge in the meat area. read more

Burrito Famous is amazing and I really like this place. I think the food is dare I say it better than Chipotle. If you are from an area that has Qdoba then I think you will agree when I say this place is very similar. I have now had Burrito Famous twice and love it each time. The location in Gainesville is small and and you could not fit to many people inside. When you walk in you are greeted by a friendly staff member. You have the option of getting a burrito, tacos, salad, nachos, or a bowel. I have now had a burrito, and two bowels. When you go down the line they only have white rice and black beans, so if you are used to other Burrito shops where you can get different types of rice and beans, you cannot do that here. Then you choose your protean, the meat is really good. I have had both chicken and steak, both were marinated great and tasted great. You can also get pork, fish and other protean's as well. The veggies are great, the pico and mango salsas are my two favorite. You can get Guac but it does coast extra. They do have queso or you can get shredded cheese. You can also get dressings, the southwest ranch is my favorite. The price is comparable with other places in town. They do have a special on Wednesday for a burrito and chips for a cheaper price. They also sell coke beverages. I gladly recommend this place for good food. I have also had a breakfast burrito and that tasted amazing as well. read more

This small place impressed me. I went with a group of 4 adults. We each ordered one burrito. They are made to order (think subway for burritos) and you can customize it as you wish. If burritos are not your thing, you can make it a bowl for a dollar more. They have vegan friendly options available. I ordered a veggie burrito with white rice, black beans, guac, dairy free coleslaw, pico, and lettuce. They had plantains too. They were out of Tempeh this day. You can add chips for 95 cents which is enough for 2 people's. If you want salsa I warn you their "small" is the size of a sauce container (pictured). The salsa is very chunky, more like pico. They have come products, iced tea, and bottled Mexican sodas. Not a lot of indoor seating available, we took up 2 small tables. So if you come with a big party, the picnic table outside will be a better option for you. Or take them to go. Overall, I was impressed with the freshness of it all. I recommend. read more

This place has a lot of potential but I've been there twice now and both times my burritos have been missing the ingredients for example jalapeños in the Mexicano. And another time went there with somebody else and they were missing a few ingredients in there as well. Came in because I saw them on the GCM app and decided to get a pork burrito bowl and everything was average at best. Like this place. We get the bowls. Lot of choices on what to add. Guacamole is extra but they do a good job of telling you this and the price for the add on is reasonable. Overall prices are good too and the cash register person helped us get the best deal when we added chips and salsa and got a drink for next to nothing. Today was my first time there and I could definitely say it's my new favorite spot. The owners where really cool. They have a way to shelf order and pay , which is good . The crazy thing is me and my sister where doing laundry and we walked over to try them out . We ask how long it would take and told them we was doing laundry and didn't want our clothes to be stolen . The owner said he will deliver it to us on his skateboard. The food was so good got the loaded fries and two drinks . I went back and got guacamole and they gave me some chips to go with it . I didn't expect that but that was so nice of them . If you or any of your friends are chiliheads like myself, stop what you are doing and go here now. They have mango habanero salsa that contains, get this...actual habaneros. And their habanero sauce also contains, get this... actual habaneros. Its fantastic. Small building, but as others have said there's outdoor seating if it ain't raining or if the Hogtown Creek isn't being smelly that day. Been there twice now. First time, I was besieged by the question 'what else? what else? what else?'. I know this is something that happens elsewhere, but it was damn annoying, especially since it was my first time there and I wasn't sure 'what else' my options were. I even mentioned that it was my first time there. And, it was later in the afternoon, no one was behind me to pressure him to rush. Except maybe the manager, who scolded him later for taking too long to spread tofu over someone's burrito (I got chicken the first time, fish the second). Second time, I was prepared. The customer in front of me was asked 8 times 'what else?', and his lady companion was asked 5 times (yes I counted). So when it was my turn, I recited on his first request the entire list of what I wanted. I guess they aren't trained for that, because I had to recite everything yet again, one by one, while still enduring the rude 'what else?' treatment. So being prepared only added the count to my 'what else' torture. I still loved my food. Pretty certain my 'fish' burrito was nothing but torn apart fish sticks. I can't say enough good things about this place. If your favorite place is Chipotle, Moe's or anything of the like, get ready to have a new favorite joint in town because BF blows them out of the water. The ingredients are so fresh, the chicken tastes like it just came off the grill and their chips and sauces are made in house every day. Please give this place a try!! My fav is the chicken burrito with rice, pico, pineapple, fresh jalapeños, queso, and a ton of cilantro. Then I get curry mayo and cool garlic lime sauces drizzled on top. Heaven. Ps. You've got plenty of options at BF. From the different types of meat (including the vegetarian options!) to the various toppings offered, you could come up with a million different combinations. I really like that they have bacon, personally. They've got both guac and queso, which is sweet. Different sauces and veggies galore. And they PACK your burrito. How does it taste? Oh my. It's so good. I'm a self-proclaimed Chipotle addict but these burritos win any day of the week. Flavorful to the max. You're paying about $8 for one, which is a little pricey. But you get to pick your own ingredients, so I'm keeping the fifth star. The service is fantastic - really sweet employees - and the location is convenient. When I went, there was plentiful parking. Very impressed. The concept is much like Moe's but the quality seems a notch higher and the staff are very friendly. They went into an old Subway location and despite the small space have made great use of it, providing ample outdoor seating and some indoors, too, plus pic-nic tables out by Hogtown Creek in the very back. The food seems very fresh and they say they make everything there, which I believe. Everything on my tacos two days in a row was without complaint pretty much perfect and they offer enough variety to try a lot of different sauces and ways of fixing up your tacos or burritos. read more

Burrito Famous moved into the old Subway space across from Grandy's a few months ago, and seems to be running a good business. During lunch there's usually a quick moving line. There is limited and cramped indoor seating, but more seating is available outside. They have a nice seating area in the back next to hogtown creek. There have been times where it's rained and I had to finish my meal in the car. Their burritos are a step above Moes but not as good as Chipotles. The staff is friendly, quick, and best of all doesn't shout "Welcome to Burrito Famous" at you when you walk in. There are a few ingredients that they offer that are different from the aforementioned competition such a nappa cabbage, bacon, sauce selection (garlic lime is my favorite), etc. Out of their proteins, I generally go with the chicken or the steak and onions. The only thing I really dislike from Burrito Famous is their barbacoa. I've been too scared to try their tempeh as it generally looks really dried out and hard. While I like the food here, it's still not unique enough for me to really go out of my way to eat here. If I'm in the area and need some decent food fast, I'll swing by. read more

Probably the best and least sketchy Mexican you will get in Gainesville. Ingredients are FRESH. Service is good. Yes, it's quite gringo, but it's pretty tasty, and a million times better than Chipotle. And they have queso, which makes the lack of Qdoba in Gainesville a lot more bearable. I was not sure about the fish tacos, but decided to give them a go anyway. They were way better than I expected! Their options are super customizable and veggie-friendly. The philly steak burrito is a creative spin on your classic burrito and has not let me down. The guac was also delicious. I decided to stop in for a visit recently and was wowed by the customer service. The young lady working was super friendly and helpful offering to let me try things that I might want to add and after a mix up with my online order the manager on duty went above and beyond to make sure everything was stellar. Love it. Frequent customer. The day they replaced subway may have been the best day ever. It also helps that is is right down the road from me, and therefor, extremely convenient :) The ingredients are fresh and diverse, although I'm not a huge fan of the steak (it's just not my cup of tea), but I'm sure others would find it tasty. Their chicken is my preferred meat; it tastes like it was roasted and then pulled, always moist never dry, and flavorful. But when I'm not feeling like overdoing it on the calories, I get the veggies option with tempeh and plantains. The best deal, by far, here is the burrito bowl. It's an incredible amount of food and I frequently will have leftovers for lunch. Full disclosure though, sometimes I can't help myself and I end up snarfing the whole thing! I'm definitely a sauce person so I love that they have several sauces to choose from to pile on along with all of the salsas and veggies. It's a really good delivery option for a group of people that all have different tastes, since everyone can get their own thing (I use 2 dollar delivery). Always a winner. Everyone I've ever brought here really liked the food, so if you're looking for a change from chipotle that won't break the bank, this is a pretty safe bet. read more

I'm sorry this is so long. But the bottom line is that the service sucked. I came in a bit of a hurry there was 2 ppl at register & 2 ppl in front of me. Some guy started to ask me what I wanted & wrote it down on the styrofoam containers then he was called away. Fine. some other guy took his place abt a min later & I explained what I wanted again. He wrote it down again on different containers. He kept talking to his coworkers (interrupted )abt other orders & had to ask me again what I was ordering. Then he proceeded to make 2 out of my 4 meals. Other ppl started coming in having their food be made & my other orders were not being made. I had to get out of line to have another staff member finish my last 2 burritos & they were called away too. One of the staff members kept wiping his nose on his sleeve every 10 seconds or so. I was really grossed out but about this time I wanted to just leave that jumbled sloppy mess of a place & I didn't want to be late for my plans. So in the end I had about 3 staff members touching, making my food & they had no cohesion w their line. Not sure if they could handle 4 burrito orders in a row. The food was edible but the spinach tasted like old spinach that should have been picked through better cuz I'm positive it's bagged spinach that doesn't get rinsed. The meat was a bit dry but still ok. My daughter who was starving said her burrito was great but I know the poor girl got a dose of somebody germs (Disgusting I know) on the positive note I was undercharged for extra guacamole & sour cream cuz nobody remembered it & the inconsistency. Only 1 of the stafff members seemed competent. The other young men didn't give a --- or were low IQ. I don't think I'm coming back for the above reasons. They have a great PDQ across the street. Not that nice grilled top quality kinda chicken if you know what I mean. This is your run of the mill and a tad basic. I'm sure it's all kinds of antibiotic/caged chicken, peta nightmare. I digress. The employee behind the counter coughed on his glove- forgot the extra guac I paid for...and verified by asking him (nope, no guac).. My fault for trusting him. Jalapeños were cut way too thick and for an extra 15 minutes in line, I'd have rather gone to Chipotle. Most likely won't be back, I'd recommend an alternative if you're interested in quality. Sooooo good! I ordered the Mexicano bowl and it was huge. The meat was seasoned perfectly and the toppings were fresh. I wanted something a little spicy so this was a perfect choice.
