We needed a part ordered to complete the repair. We were told it might take a few days. One week later I called back to check and was told the part was still on order, we would be contacted to schedule the service as soon as the part was received. Another week later I called again, the person I spoke to confused the water heater repair with an unrelated appointment for an air-conditioning estimate. I tried to explain that hot water and air conditioning were not related. Finally, several days after the second call, my partner (male) called and somehow, miraculously, the part was "found." He was told it was a "communication breakdown" with the supplier. It was obviously a communication breakdown on Halco's part. We got no acknowledgement that this was problematic, not even an apology for having to spend 2+ weeks with no hot water. Update: Halco has contacted me and I'm convinced this was not their usual service. I appreciate their willingness to reach out and try to make things better.

Appolo installed new furnace and central a/c unit in my home…read more At the time of the installation, the overflow preventer in the a/c unit was stuck, resulting in flooding my carpeted basement. The initial repair person who came to see what caused the flood was the one who told me that the overflow preventer install caused the flood yet Appolo refused to reimburse me for the insurance deductible. Two years later another (different) company came for routine maintenance and showed me that the original ductwork was poorly designed because there is a rule that there should be 24 inches between secondary ducts and the end of each main line; it is clear on most online descriptions that this is ideal for maximum air flow through the system. When Appoly did the original install I had them come back because the air flow felt insufficient and they told me it was by design because the goal is to run the unit for a long time at a lower air flow for consistent temperature!!

I was asked for my billing address and the exact addresses of all properties. When I asked why this was needed at such an early stage, she explained they use addresses to look up assessment values, square footage, and photos or details from sites like Zillow before an audit. I explained that online data often does not reflect conditions relevant to insulation needs, basement/attic size, etc and that I was happy to provide full details once we determined it made sense to proceed. I was told I likely would not receive a call back without providing addresses. After giving one address for a property we were open to getting a quote on, I was told a callback would take about four days. Five minutes later, I received another call saying they would not be able to help, without any explanation given. Overall, it appeared the priority was evaluating properties to decide business viability, instead of first discussing services or eligibility.

I was ghosted by this company. I called Donohue Havlerson for a leaky toilet. Two guys came out and replaced the ring - $233. It still leaked, so John from the company came out and replaced the PVC flange - no charge. It still leaked. He came back and said he would need to replace the PVC flange with a metal one. He said he would come back later in the week. Never heard from him again - he stopped answering my texts. I've called the office 5-6 times, with no reply. Same with email. Haven't heard from them for 2 weeks, so I assume they ain't coming back. So I'm out $233, with a toilet that still leaks. All interactions with the company were friendly and professional, so this is a mystery. Bottom line: maybe Donohue Halverson will finish your job, maybe they won't.
