Burrbenders does a terrific job sharpening knives, and their customer services is outstanding. When I had a shipping issue that had nothing to do with Burrbenders, they took the time and effort to help resolve the issue and genuinely cared about fixing a problem that was not their fault. I was already a dedicated customer of Burrbenders based on the quality of their work. This incident, though, only adds to why I cannot recommend Burrbenders highly enough. read more

Using Misen's sharpening policy I requested and received shipping labels and instructions immediately. They were clear and concise. I packaged my 4 knives and sent them off to Burrbenders on October 17th. USPS tracking showed them delivered on 10/19. After two weeks I contacted Misen and was told that they should be returned in a day or two. 5 days later I contacted Burrbenders and was told that they did not have my knives even though the tracking said they did. Turns out Jerad had not gone to the Post Office to pick up knives from Misen in "5 weeks". He also told me Misen was bankrupt and their lawyers had sent him a cease and desist notification. I again contacted Misen and they verified delivery and attempted to move things along to no avail. They sent a 6.5 Santoku knife as a goodwill gesture and apology for the inconvenience. A week later Misen contacted me and offered to replace my knife set as they were not able to collect them from the Edgewater Post Office. Five days later (11/10) I received a complete set of new knives. On 11/24 my original set of knives were delivered to my home from Burrbenders. Yes, they were sharpened. I am giving the low review due to the long drawn out process which extended beyond the 10 day turn around as promised. Furthermore, much of what Jerad said to me on the phone was inappropriate and demeaning. It felt like negative gossip and represented problems that I was not responsible for in any way. Had he told me that he was no longer doing sharpening for Misen, and offered to return my knives immediately I might not have even taken the time to write a review but sadly, that was not the case. I just had my kitchen knives sharpened -- a couple of shun chef knives, a shun clever, and my butchering knives i use for BBQ. What a great job! The boss knows his stuff when it comes to the japanese knives, is friendly, and affordable. This is much better than sending my knives away to be sharpened. The results -- lets just say the edge is so sharp that whatever I am cooking falls apart as soon as I start thinking about slicing and dicing. If you take your knives anywhere else to be sharpened/maintained then shame on you. read more

This is an impossible to find this service done right! A friendly and dependable service an even harder find. . If I lived near this place it would completely change my choice of knives. While you can sharpen your own, it's unlikely that once a year sharping is going to make you an expert. Highly recommended read more

My knives and scissors are so sharp after they have been to Burrbenders. I use my knives in cooking and the scissors for sewing and paper crafts. The service is also fast. They will remake broken knife blades. If you have extra scissors or knives, Burrbenders will sharpen them for free and donate them to places such as the Lighthouse, the homeless shelter with the cafe. I highly recommend Burrbenders! I brought my 3 heavily used Shun kitchen knives to BURRBenders to get repaired/sharpened and left thoroughly impressed. 2 of the 3 knives had rather large chips in the blade that most would consider them ruined. After reading some fellow Yelp reviewer's posts, I drove 40 minutes from Baltimore to their mobile shop set up at Homestead Gardens in Davidsonville. I googled " Garden Tool Sharpening" on line living in Central MD and BURRBenders popped up. So I took about six of my very dull garden tools to their mobile shop at Homestead Gardens in Davidsonville Maryland. They are at that location on weekends. I only waited an hour ( which is easy to do at Homestead Gardens) Tools were all fully sharpened and ready to go. They take cash or credit which is also accommodating. Not to mention they lubricated my tools as a courtesy. Very nice folks and they provide GREAT PROFESSIONAL SERVICE at very reasonable prices. I will be back for sure. read more

Best service ever! I have fabulous Henckels knives and my own electric sharpener, but I never knew just how dull my knives were until Jimmie sharpened all 12 of them- and for only $68. So I am writing this review because I was encouraged by my husband to do so because he absolutely loved the job this company did on my set of knives and I have to say, I do too! Being that my husband is gone most of the week, it took him months to get to sharpen just one knife that took him 45 mins to do. Well, I have many more in my set that I use daily and since he doesn't have the time to sharpen them all himself... he decided to take it upon himself to seek a professional service. This is the place he found and not only was he impressed by his professionalism but his knowledge and love for the lost art form. Having my knives sharpened perfectly makes cooking for me that much more enjoyable and a whole lot less effort. From what I hear, 95% of his business is from other parts of the World so I would say little ole Millersville has a Rock Star knife sharpening guru residing. I will be going to Culinary School early next year and I will happily mail off my knives to this business during and after. Although a just a tad bit pricey, the work is fast and well worth it. I was very pleased with the service provided by Burrbenders. After owning my Shun knife for two years, I thought it was still sharp, but after I got it back from Jimmie I realized what sharp was! Now it's like new, maybe better, and the knife does all the work when chopping and slicing.
