As I try to get back into prioritizing my health again, I had suspended my membership but still enjoyed drop in classes. I even still paid the $39 (increased) one time class fee. So after having a night where I struggled all night with a sick baby, I was so proud of myself that I STILL made it into the 6am class (I can only make it in before she wakes up and my husband goes to work). I did arrive a few minutes late and it took me another minute to get my shoes off and coat hung (it was 607 when I was ready to get on the reformed). It was quite disappointing that I was denied entry at this time. A company that lacks any compassion or flexibility is not a company I plan to frequent or refer others to in the future. It is also worth noting that I was denied entry by an instructor I've been treated rudely by in the past which makes me question if she has an underlying bias against me (perhaps against people of color or plus size women) as she was the only one to repeatedly attempt to deny me entry or challenge my ability to do the class while I was pregnant (despite providing physician documentation and no push back from other instructors). This is not a business I will be returning to.

The classes are ALWAYS waitlisted - you have to sign up weeks in advance to get a spot, and the late cancellation fees are steep. The workouts are the most repetitive and ineffective of any other pilates studio I have attended. The instructors do not give any modifications on how to make any of the movements more challenging or provide suggestions to increase intensity. Some of the instructors are great, but there are a couple that come off quite rude and make no effort to get to you, even if you attend class everyday for months. There is no initial communication about how to "level up" and once you finally jump through all of the hoops to attend a Level 2 class, they are only offered on a very limited schedule. The studio was always FREEZING and the music was often very quiet so all you can hear is others audibly breathing. When I tried to cancel my membership, I provided the written 30 day notice, but they say that due to the "billing cycle" cadence, I have to pay for almost an entire extra month of my membership. It is not ever made clear when the billing cycle is, or by which date you would need to cancel to avoid being billed another entire month so BEWARE. They are extremely unresponsive and it all feels like a total scam. I have attended so many different studios, specifically Pilates, and was so disappointed that this one was not worth the high price tag.

A great way to sneak exercise into your day! The median age of members is 55+ and they come in ALL shapes and sizes; very non-intimidating! Curves offers a "coached" experience that helps you set, track, and maintain goals ($60 a month, but covered by most insurances), or you can just join ($44 monthly). The coaches are friendly and helpful to everyone. Curves offers different themed workouts: Jillian Michaels (task-mistress boot camp style), integrated Zumba, etc., but none of that is mandatory and you can always do your own thing whenever you are there. The place is clean, but it is small (in comparison to most gyms), so it took me a little bit to "dance like no one's watching." :-) You can make the experience as social or non-social as you want. I wrote to many gyms in the area, and the fantastic owner Tony went over who they where, what they did and invited me in to see if we would be a good fit. He spent a lot of time with me looking at what I was able to do and making customized adaptations with things I had trouble with. It was so easy to say yes, and sign up on the spot. Then I met his other trainers such as Kathy and Chris who will work you, don't get me wrong, they will push you to be your best while never overdoing it and working with you to make every workout different, enjoyable, and after you are done you come out feeling so positive. I went through some medical issues, and Tony was so great accommodating me for the time I needed off, and we resumed as soon as I was ready. They are worth every penny, and I cannot express how much of a part of my complete positive life change, their company has been a vital part of. Lastly, the facilities are immaculate and private and have every bit of equipment you would need for a fantastic guided workout and overall work plan. They take your goals, and make a customized plan (that does get tougher as time goes on lol) but it is just you and your trainer, private and intimate, but the gang there are such great personalities, sometimes the banter between the team while you are getting healthy and fit, is the best part. In 12 weeks, I got noticeably stronger - strength building which I could not do from five years of classes. It's incredible The Egym is the best part. Can do the exercises several times a week to get stronger without much thought. The machine adopted up to you and after certain number of cycles it will do a strength test and adjust your numbers accordingly. You can also set it up depending on your goals, such as muscle building or metabolic or one of the other eight choices. Gerhard is great manager and has brought new and innovative things to the gym. I also like that there's plenty of parking. But close to Westlake so walkable if you live in this area. The hours as recently expanded starting in August, which is amazing. It's something I've asked for for years.

Excellent gym | very aesthetic…read more This is the biggest climbing facility I've ever been to. It is one of those climbing chains, like Movement, so they have a lot to offer for climbers and fitness enthusiasts. Keep in mind that I'm writing this review with a background of climbing over 15 years and have visited many gyms throughout the country and overseas. The gym boasts over 20,000 sq ft with 17ft tall boulders and 40ft walls of rope routes. You can never be bored here. In fact, there's so much space that they don't know what else to do with it! They have lounging areas, a couple of bathroom areas, training board systems, and weight training. But let's talk bouldering first... Some of the routes I've jumped on felt intuitive. Good flow. There were a few that puzzled me, though. One route was an overhanging low grade route that I anticipated to be an easy warm up, but instead they placed a hold that forced me to do a less than ideal move for the grade. I was spooked. A friend agreed. Overall, they have lots of area with various range of problems for a beginner climber to an advanced veteran. No kids area, but I'd say the area closest to the front desk to the left is the most kid friendly spot. The second biggest feature here is the newly opened rope area. It's impressive and overwhelming. There are about 5 auto belay systems, so you can get a pretty decent work out if you came solo. I saw routes ranging from 5.6 to 5.11 when I did autobelay here. There are two crack climbs one can practice in the auto belay area as well. There is everything imaginable from 5.4 to 5.12/13 here, including overhanging routes. Also, I was impressed with their various holds! One set of black holds were used for a stemmy route, which I thought was neat. I believe they set every 8 weeks. Community? I'm not sure. I think when you are a gym like Movement, it's hard to cultivate a tight-knit climbing community, like Santa Rosa's Vertex or Tigard's Circuit, but I think there are little climbing groups that make up a community. People are friendly though. This place is well thought out. I'm impressed and found the staff to be helpful. A day pass is $27. For a place like this, it's worth it. You can easily spend 3-4 hours here.
