The Burlington Coat Factory of yesteryear is gone. I attended the wake for the Wonderland location early last week. The once three-floor mammoth department store had been reduced to one floor with four itty bitty racks of ladies coats, one size per side. It was an incredibly weak selection, maybe thirty coat choices per size. It was shocking and unexpected and I felt a part of my soul float away. I am in a frantic tizzy over finding a coat for a trip this fall and no one in San Antonio is taking my needs seriously!!! When I shared the news with my mom, she insisted we try the Southside Burlington location. I wasn't interested in trekking across the city to be horrified at the death of my childhood ALL OVER AGAIN, but eventually desperation won and we headed on over. This was my first time at this locale and, let me say, it's not at all what I expected. You walk into a huge one-floor space with racks upon racks upon racks staged in a thrift store arrangement. The lights are eerily dim and the masses have gone in on an early Saturday and picked over and poked at all the wares. Things are not where they should be and that means you have to go in with a willingness to jump right in to the picking game. But there's something lurking in between the size mediums in the middle of the size 1xs. It's a little something I like to call a "successful shopping trip." When I walked in, I saw a fit, middle-aged man trying on a puffy orange jacket and using what I'd later call the "community mirror" to check his choice out. Without thinking twice I complimented him and said, "That's the one!" I walked past him to my coat section, tried one on, and walked over to the community mirror. I heard a man with his family call out, "That looks great! You should get that one!" I thanked him and commented on what an incredibly supportive community this was. After an hour of rifling through racks, trying on coats, parading to the community mirror, and snapping selfies, I had come to a decision--a decision that would only cost me 40 bucks! My mom, who had come along for the ride, had also found a 50-dollar coat for herself. We took our luck into the rest of ladies' apparel and walked out with 15-dollar sweaters, 11-dollar dresses, our less-than-60-dollar coats, and even a 12-dollar Halloween costume for our favorite dog! This new iteration of Burlington Coat Factory was shocking, and if you don't have the stomach for change, you should just stay away. BUT if you love hunting for a good deal and have a penchant for the kind of picking that places like Ross, Marshall's, and T. J. Maxx promise, you are going to love the new BCF. Four stars for great deals, great service, and a warm and friendly shopping community! read more

This company has taken a nose dive. There were not enough employees, the dressing rooms were closed, no bench to try on shoes, only one cashier to handle the long line. What a shame. read more

I've been to better locations, but it wasn't the worst. The store was huge, yet somehow really didn't have anything. I did get some stuff, but I'll probably go to different stores from now on. The layout needs to flow better, the damaged products need to be removed or marked down even more, and have more variety in options. read more

12 cashier lanes only 2 open all the other employees are walking around on their phones no help at the register. I went there got my things and waited 40 minutes just to checkout! Horrible service horrible employees! read more

I drove 20 mins across town to come to Burlington. Online and the answering machine when you call the location says they close at 9 pm. When I got there at 6 pm someone was waiting at the door and said they weren't taking any more people today. I called, and someone said they do not close until 9, but reiterated that they were not accepting any more customers for the rest of the day. I then told the lady they should update their information because that's not what the machine said. She very rudely said, well we aren't taking anymore people today so.. Needless to say, I won't be shopping at Burlington anytime soon. I was so excited to get back out and get some things but I'm very upset I wasted my and gas because Burlington is dispersing wrong information. You should really fix your information before you piss off a lot of people. I've seen dozens of people get angry when they're turned away.. if you're going to be open, make it by hour or amount of people in the store at a time. This is confusing and ridiculous. read more

I used to like Burlington but yesterday my husband and I went in looking for a stool or desk chair. We found a chair that was the perfect style and color but it was a little damaged. There was a small hole in the leather on the back of the chair, another one on the top, and the legs were scraped. The chair didn't have a price sticker so when I asked the manager he literally pulled one off of a nice chair right in front of me and told me to pay $60 OR when we left he would "damage it out" meaning get rid of it because it won't sell. Lmao I'm not paying $60 on a chair you KNOW you most likely won't be able to sell. I asked for a discount since it's damaged and he declined. What a jerk. read more

11/27/20 - Black Friday schedule posted on door open till 11 PM. You call the store and the automatic answering machine says the same schedule. You get to the store and they closed at 8:30 PM. Their excuse is we have a curfew which is for 10 PM. Someone needs to talk to management about how the curfew works. read more

I went to look for a purse for my mom at the end of February 2011. I must of caught this store low on stock, because all the purses they had at that time were fugly. But then I went the next month, at end of March, looking for not just any mirror, but a different, interesting type of mirror for my work office. Not only did I find a very interesting big size mirror, for my office, it was cheap, $50, considering I was going to spend $180 on another mirror at Pier 1 Imports. But I wasn't done! I also found a very beautiful, gray shiny purse, for $25, called Xoxo, which I wished I would found for my mom earlier when I went, because I ended settling fo another purse at JCpenny for $40. read more

This store was hit by a tornado. Flip flips all over the place. They must have good prices because it app read to me that empty racks were a thing. I was the during closing and it was trashed. I wonder what it looks like in the morning. Poor associates that close have to take all that time just to pick up what LAZY people don't put back or what hiding children snag and hide in. Which BTW were a lot of crying babies and children running amuck. read more

The store has great prices and great products it does need more floor personal, and the store is very hot constantly which makes you want to run in and run out. I had the pleasure of being checked out by Nicole more then once at the register as she answered several other employees questions and phone calls she multi tasked and didn't miss a beat on caring for me as a customer , she was very sweet and I would recommend shopping here , I would like to call district and let them know what a wonderful job she has done. read more

We loved this store. We had never been to a Burlington Coat Factory before because there isn't one in our area. We went in just to check it out but ended up shopping for a couple of hours. The store was very clean and set up very well. The prices were great and everyone was very helpful. read more

Came to do some quick shopping and ended up having a very unpleasant experience. When I went to check out, I asked the cashier if she could check what the prices on my items were since the prices were missing. The cashier said she didn't know either and didn't bother to check and just stood there. In addition, I had a coupon for $10 off my purchase and the cashier and manager refused to take it even though the coupon was good for another month. I just gave up on the coupon but the fact that even the manager was rude angered me more. Needless to say, I will not be returning to that store. read more
