I've been to Daiso in Seattle and it seemed that they had a lot more merchandise there. I liked the aisles with the food. I was happy to find some items that they don't carry at the local Asian stores. When we were ready to check out, there were 3 people ahead of us and a line forming behind us. There were no employees at the registers and the self checkout registers had error messages so they couldn't be used. My husband found an employee who was restocking the shelves. Lol, my husband said that the employee didn't seem happy that he had to go up front. While the employee was ringing up the items, his coworkers started arriving. He mentioned to them that he was getting ready to clock out... no wonder he didn't seem happy. A different coworker came up front and cleared the error messages on the self checkout registers which made the line move quickly.

The first Five Below opened up in 2002 in Pennsylvania and there are now 1,850 stores throughout the United States. Five Below has been rapidly expanding. The concept of the store is everything costs $5 or less. At least it used to be. Something I noticed through the years is that they are offering more and more items over $5, especially tech, more elaborate holiday decorations, and room decor. They now have a room in the back of the store where some of the items are as high as $25. Their inventory is mainly marketed to kids and teens. Expect to see a lot of nods to pop culture. If you have a young person in your life then you are probably well acquainted with this discount chain. Departments include seasonal decorations, tech, work out, play, beauty, and snacks. You can't beat their $5 t-shirts and I always find myself drawn to the snack aisle. When my daughter was younger I would shop for inexpensive birthday party presents, stocking stuffers, and cheap room decor. Now I find myself stopping by to pick up cute motivators for the kids I work with. The store is currently all decked out for Halloween. It is worth popping in from time to time to see what is new.

Garden Promenade is a spacious 32 acre corner shopping plaza with a diverse range of stores and places to eat. I stopped in to check out the new Daiso which is a popular Japanese discount store. This is the first one to open in South Florida. It drew crowds who were waiting over an hour to even get in. I ended up hanging out after to check out a few of the other businesses. If you like discount shopping, this is a great plaza. There are 46 businesses in this plaza. These include Ross, Marshall's Old Navy, Burlington, dd's Discounts, Dollar Tree, Shoe Carnival, #1 Beauty Supply, Rainbow Shops, and America's Best. There is also a Wawa, McDonald's, and Advance Auto Parts. You can pretty much get anything you need in this plaza making it very convenient for shoppers.

This store just opened next to Daiso in Gardens Promenade in Miami Gardens. The store carries women's, junior's and children's clothing along with shoes, sunglasses, accessories, perfume, and other miscellaneous items. The style trends younger or maybe just young at heart with bright colors and vibrant prints. Prices are inexpensive with shoes under $10 and some of the clothing priced at three and five dollars.
