And that immediately made me wonder -- what exactly is going on in Burlington that shoppers now need to be screened for safety? It felt uncomfortable, unnecessary, and honestly a bit unsettling. Went to this location yesterday. I shopped around and saw a large rug I was interested in buying. I looked around for an employee to see if I could possibly get some assistance on lifting to try to get it in my cart. I found a women employee and asked her if there was anybody who can help me and she said, no, we are short handed and there is nobody who can help you. Her and I could have handled it together but she was completely uninterested obviously or she would have offered. Anyways, I thought to myself....of well....their loss on making a $90 sale and went on to shop around. I was really interested in buying the rug, it was just what I have been looking for and the last one left, so I walked back over to see one more time if I could manage it ( large and awkward) but I just couldn't. There was the sweetest young guy right by me that offered to help me and was successful. I then rolled it to the register for purchase. The cashier asked me if there was a security tag on it and I said, not that I can see, and she said...can you look?? Wow. Anyways, I paid and then proceeded to walk out the exit where the " security guard " stops you to check the receipt and then he tells me I can't take the cart outside. I was a bit thrown off because at that point, I'm thinking how am I going to get that to my van yo load it. So I asked him, I'm not sure how I'm going to be able to get this go my van then? Then asked if I could just take it out for a couple minutes and I'd promise to bring it right back. He said " no" that a buzzer will go off. Ok, then a coworker came over and chimed in......excuse me, you can't take that cart outside. I told her the man had already told me so I was already aware of that. I just told her I wasn't sure how I was going to get that to my van. She said......you need to got your car and pull it up to the curb. I was oh, ok.....I didn't even think of that but still was going to be hard to maneuver it from in the store to the curb if I can't wheel it with the cart. Neither her or the security guard even offered any advice or assistance, just pure rudeness and attitude like I was a huge inconvenience. I got so so extremely lucky that a really nice gentleman who was also a customer was just leaving with his purchase offered his help. He said can you please hold these shoes and purse for me and I will carry the rug to your car for you. I said sure, I can. He then picked up the huge rolled up rug and threw it over his shoulder and started walking, I then turned and looked at the rude female employee and said....... Isn't he so sweet to help me and he's not even an employee here????? I then told her it's was so ridiculous how not one employee could even offer any kind of assistance. It is not ok, to treat the customer who are keeping you in business like they are a burden or nuisance. I've worked in customer service my entire life and am in complete shock on how hard it is to get any good help these days. I was just at Burlington tonight 10 mins before they closed. Im a regular here and a few of the staff know me. The good ones anyway as Daniel who I give 5 stars to and 2 of the black ladies who are supervisors. I normally don't like to give no to 1 star to anyone because I'm the kindest most understanding person since I was a toddler but the people I give that to, would have to be really horrible people especially with their customer service. Reviewing about tonight of the no stars but 1 star to the so called supervisor maria and another latina staff member on the floor who were so rude to me telling me with their very bad attitudes to go to the registers. Practically barking at me. Yuck. I was already on my way there after I was there already in their slow line. I had to go get a cart and put my stuff in and try on an item real quick in front of mirror to see if it fit. All the while the slow line was hardly moving. Maria is the same unpleasant woman employee who supervised this night and the night months ago when I was shopping here and a creepy tall black man who was light to medium colored skin they let in had followed me around and kept taking out his dick and kept grabbing at it all bare trying to literally ejaculate his cum out six to ten feet away from me in the same aisle as me when I was looking at the clothes. I told Maria about it right after that happened to me and the whole thing was so appalling and traumatizing. She didn't do anything about it and is just a VERY unprofessional and RUDE customer service. She has only given me awful experiences here and I shop here A LOT weekly. I have spent hundreds to more of thousands here over the years. Maria is so unqualified to be working here or anywhere with her terrible attitude. No one should be disrespected by her as I was tonight when my so much money among other consumers pay her ungrateful and ignorant self into her paychecks. Maria, Don't treat valuable customers especially as me who contribute much to this company like shit. Your attitude was so foul and a complete fail tonight that you deserve to be fired or stepped down from your very unqualified rank. They definitely have high theft at this location because the way they got someone posted at the front behind a rope making sure you stop so the camera can get a picture of you is crazy. Went looking for a particular hair care product didn't find it. One thing about going to Burlington's you're going to find something you love once, AND NEVER FIND IT AGAIN. read more

I bought a large, heavy kids' race car at Burlington and was grateful that two employees helped me get it to the register. But after paying, the woman at the entrance wouldn't let me take the cart outside--and as per store policy no employee was allowed to help me carry it to my car. I physically couldn't lift it, and when I said I'd have to return it if no help was available, she simply said, "Okay, return it." So I had to. Really disappointing and a waste of time, especially after the great help I received from the other employees. read more

Do not shop here. You can't take 5 steps into the business without being accosted by an employee, blocking your entrance as if you had just stepped into the most prestige night club and you're tying to enter the VIP lounge. Dear store manager...Whoever came up with this idea, should be fired. Not only are you harassing your customers for no reason, you literally create a hostile environment from the first point of customer contact. A basic leadership or management course would show you how bad this setup is. Simply due to this interaction, I walked the store to see what could be so valuable that you would treat your customers (let alone FIRST time customers) in such a fashion.... and I honestly could find nothing. You have big bold letters on your wall that say "Everything you need, for less." I'm pretty sure that's a bold faced lie. The cashier (I believe her name is Ashley) was super helpful and fast. She was the only one on for the most part, she did great at getting us checked out. Newly opened, this store takes over the former Toys R Us space. I walked throughout the entire store today. In addition to a huge coat selection, there were toys, fragrances, shoes, clothing, home decor, and miscellaneous items. While there some name brands, many of the brands were unrecognizable. The store was spacious and neatly organized. I walked out without finding anything to buy. I prefer TJ Max on the other side of the parking lot. read more

I've been a fan of Burlington Coat Factory since going to the one located at Del Amo Mall in Torrance, for decades. This is a nice location. The selection is good. The men's selection used to be heavy into big/tall hip hop urban designer street wear, but now has more mainstream mass appealing apparel. I hope their buyers who help stock the racks goes back to finding high end designer couture at discounts, similar to what Saks Off Fifth carries. The is a clean new store, former home to Toys R Us, right next to Home Depot. I like Ross and Marshall's to a degree, but I like Burlington a lot better for their selection. Parking is really easy here. read more

Today my sister attempted to make an exchange because of a 79.99 Juicy Couture large piece of luggage. Initially she was told that she could exchange it by an associate and management team member. My sister found a similar item and a basket full of additional items only to be told by a person with a dry unpleasant manner ( Leijah) " We cannot resell this so we cannot take it back". We do not make a habit of returning items, however, with employees like that I would like to return any and everything we have ever purchased. read more

If you would like the ultimate American (maybe more Californian) cultural experience come visit Hawthorne Burlington! I arrived at around 3:50pm on a Saturday and was greeted by the bouncer (loss prevention) who told me to smile for the camera before she unlatched the velvet rope (retractable partitions). Dressing rooms are no longer open or staffed but if you do manage to find a piece of clothing you like in a sea of hot mess, there are two cashiers available to take payment from people who actually decided to do a good deed today and pay the store instead of just walking out nonchantly despite the "we prosecute shoplifters" signs. Ok, here I am the sucker waiting in line to pay enjoying the ambiance of this loud ringing alarm coming from the back emergency exit, noticing the line is slowing down because we lost a cashier who went to chase down some shoftlifters (somebody pay this lady more please!) What a ride, and unlike in Disneyland Splash Mountain, I would love to purchase my reaction photo from Burlington Loss Prevention to capture memory of this epic experience. read more

I am so stoked that Burlington is now close to home! Yay! It's in the same shopping center as Home Depot. This store used to be Toys R Us. I went there for the Grand Opening today. The staff was there by the door inside the store, greeting you and handing out a complimentary reusable bag (1 per person). I was shopping with my mom and my youngest son. Just like any other Burlington, lots of great selections from bath care to clothing for everyone to home goods, etc. But in all honesty, I'd prefer to shop here. Not only because it's close to home, but they have more items and products to choose from. I love that they have more stuff in the boys section esp the dress clothes compared to the Torrance & Del Amo Burlington. Huge plus for me! Super clean store, very open atmosphere and friendly staff! Checkout is well organized and that aisle always get me! Standing in line with my shopping cart full of stuff and ended up with more stuff from the checkout stand. The struggle to resist is real y'all! And also their Christmas stuff are out, along with rows of toys and such. Anything you need from Christmas cards to scotch tape to wrapping paper to gift bags, its all in one place! Let the Christmas shopping begin! This is my fave store. You cannot beat finding a designer named brand items at a low price anywhere else but Burlington. I just bought two suits for my boys (Orig. $150 each) I got them for $17.99 each! What a bargain! Come here and shop for all your needs! It's way more organized than Ross and much better. If you see me, stop by and say hi! I might be there everyday, even if I'm not shopping. Went to this Burlington's a few minutes ago. I placed a few things into my basket up until I realized (toward the end of my visit) that a young guy pretending to talk on the phone was following me and staring at me. I made sure I became closer to other shoppers but he still stayed within distance of me, looking at me. Once we caught eye contact he put up a pair of pants (way too big) and blocked our eye contact. Again, I move and he moved toward my direction. He had no basket, not even talking while pretending to be on the phone. It was a very creepy experience. I'm not sure if he wanted to steal my purse or what but he was definitely after something. As I exited the store there was a lady organizing near the exit doors. I asked her if he worked there and she said he didn't. I told her my experience with him and then I walked out. Once I got into my car and drove off I contacted the store and asked to speak to a supervisor. I was transferred and a lady named Angela answered and as I tried telling her my experience the phone hung up mid sentence. I tried calling back and was left on hold for a while. As of 6/12/20 this location is open 9a-9p. I'm excited yet a bit skeptical because payment methods aren't updated. There is no contactless payment options (Apple Pay or G Pay). I've called the store to double check. So be careful, breath's water droplets can fall onto cashier surfaces and pay stations if customer is not wearing a face mask properly and/or hands are not clean.
