    Newly opened, this store takes over the former Toys R Us space. I walked throughout the entire store today. In addition to a huge coat selection, there were toys, fragrances, shoes, clothing, home decor, and miscellaneous items. While there some name brands, many of the brands were unrecognizable. The store was spacious and neatly organized. I walked out without finding anything to buy. I prefer TJ Max on the other side of the parking lot.

I guess that's a good thing if you're trying to find something to buy. I didn't really need anything specific, so looked at the cosmetic aisle and shoe department. I found a bunch of On shoes, which I would have been interested in. Problem is, I already have 3 extra pairs at home sitting in boxes. I looked at flip flops and ended up getting a pair of Nikes in my size. I also saw a pair of Olukai casual shoes and would have picked it up if it fit. The salesperson near the dressing room had access to inventory and told me there wasn't any in my size. That saved me a lot of time looking up and down the aisles. I left happy that I was able to find something to take home today.

At the El Segundo location, the fitting room employees were incredibly rude and dismissive right from the start. What really stood out was that I had just watched them interact with other customers in a completely normal, friendly way. Then I stepped up, and suddenly the energy shifted like I had unknowingly signed up for a different experience. My arms were full of clothes and shoes, and before I could even say a word, I was snapped at, "You can't take those shoes in there." I know the policy. I just didn't realize it would be delivered like a reprimand before I'd even opened my mouth. To be clear, I'm not overly sensitive. I can handle a little attitude or snark. This was not that. This felt like I had skipped a step in some invisible process and was being corrected for it. While I was trying to juggle everything, I dropped something. Instead of helping, or even just letting me pick it up in peace, I was told, "You dropped something," in a tone that suggested this was breaking news. Meanwhile, the other employee stood there watching the situation unfold like it was a fascinating development. At that point, I decided the fitting room experience was not for me. I said, "I'll skip it, thank you," and got a very enthusiastic, very sarcastic "Have a great day" in return, which really tied the whole interaction together. I ended up buying everything I was holding without trying it on, just so I could leave. I was that uncomfortable. I did speak to a manager, who was kind and professional, and customer service afterward was great, which is exactly what I've always appreciated about Nordstrom. But the behavior in that fitting room was unnecessarily hostile, oddly performative, and far below what I expect from this brand. It should be addressed. I will not be returning to this location. EVER.

    I never thought I'd ever write a review about Macy's but here we are…read more Not going to lie...this place rocks! The staff is always super friendly and professional. There's a huge selection of clothes, shoes, fragrances etc and often on sale! There is absolutely no pressure to buy anything from the staff (I'm a fan of that). I'll leave you with this...if you're looking for a place to that treats you right and has competitive prices you can't go wrong with Macys. Stop by and see for yourself. I said what I said!     You can't make this stuff up folks!…read more I was just approached by a woman in the bed-matress-furniture dept up here on the 3rd floor and was asked to leave since I had "was seen sitting for too long and obviously not buying anything". Nevermind the fact that my mother and I spend thousands annually with the brand, and at this location in particular-(see my previous reviews here particularly the one where I dropped $300 plus on that new Channel Blue) not too long ago! No wonder why they're reviews and stars here so low. While the cologne Dept is staffed with pros, the furniture- bedding and mattress department leaves a lot to be desired-unless of course this timeline or deadline is to how long someone can stay seated is written into policy. I proceeded to make my way downstairs within another department entirely to ask about talking to a manager. Within less than ten minutes a Manager named Terry (female) came down to listen to my complaint, and informed me that she would have a "talk with the individual in question"-whatever that entails. I asked the manager wether or not there was an official Macy's policy that gave staff or associate's of Macy's (particularly within the mattress or furniture department) the ability or authority to actually TIME how long said person can be sitting at or within the furniture department and whether or not the staff had the authority to ask them to leave kindly or otherwise-she indicated there was in fact no such policy. I'll be reaching out to Macy's Corporate come this Monday to follow up-and ensure that no such policy exists, and just what the boundaries or limitations are going forward to save other people the awkwardness and embarrassment of having to get up and move off the furniture- particularly when all they were going to do was to be seated for a few more minutes anyways. What an overall embarrassment and a joke to the realm of customer service!
