I went for lunch during work and wish I hadn't! This place is so good and it's a crime not to be able to order a margarita. I tried the enchilada burger with fries. The fries were a little different than I'm used to. Like the fries them in a different oil so they weren't much to my liking. But the burger made up for it. read more

Great burgers with fantastic flavoring. Meat is cooked tenderly & not at all over cooked in any way. The dining experience we had was fantastic & our waiter Hector was well informed of everything on the menu, including the burgers selection. This place has original ideas with great execution in the kitchen. Love the decorations. read more

Super cute place with great food, delicious fresh cocktails and friendly staff. The patio area is dog-friendly and a lovely place to enjoy a beautiful day. Wish we lived closer! read more

Ordered the Al pastor and a la enchilada burger. First of all, the patty was absolutely flavorless. The enchilada burger is a joke; it literally has two enchiladas in it and those enchiladas were also absolutely flavorless. Drinks are without flavor, we ordered a mojito and a kiwi cooler, and both drinks needed either more sugar or more spritz. If you want a burger for instagram looks, then you've gone to the right place. Just don't eat it. read more

I like the Burgerteca idea (a lot) and the location and ambiance is great. I also enjoyed the fries. That being said, this place could easily be moved up to 4 stars with a little work on their burger patties. All the toppings and creativity that went into each iteration of burger was laudable, but I just felt like the meat was just meh. I am going to go back and give it a second try, but given all the burger options just about everywhere, your meat game needs to be strong to earn a high rating in my book. read more

This spot was AMAZING! I was blown away by all the creative flavor combinations! I will definitely be back! I ordered the Al Pastor burger and my boyfriend got the Pacifico burger! We started out with the queso fries which were to die for! I can't wait to go back! read more

LA Veggie, Big Tex Classic and Chicken Chop Salad were great! Good atmosphere and service. Definitely would eat here again.

Tell me why this is the best burger in southtown. I love burgers and burgerteca is spot on. 5 stars for the burgers. 5 stars for the queso fries. They're so good. I just remember that each fry was covered in savory queso sauce and omg bacon bits. Yum :) ok not to be too off on fine dining for burgers but.... i suggest they put pictures of the item on the menu. I think that will help people decide what to order. What Are Your Thoughts?anyhoo...i ordered the Oaxaca burger. Burger Was wonderful yes. Doused in molé yes. So You Gotta Be A Real fan. I thought it was amazing but put more queso fresco. Stop Being Cheisty with the portions cause if you're gonna cover it in sauce, but the cheese. Andale read more

We where visiting San Antonio and a lady recommended we try this place. I'm so glad we did. 1st the service was amazing n 2nd the food was delicious. I had the mole fries and they where full of flavor n the mole was just perfect. I also had the pastor burger n it was juicy and the slice if pineapple added to the flavorful taste. The watermelon agua fresca was so refreshing n it wasn't too sweet. After your done with your meal don't forget to get ice cream or snowcone. They are home made and made with real fruit. We will 4sure go back to this spot next time we're in San Antonio. read more

Great American burger with a Mexican twist. Full of flavor! A must try in the SA downtown area.

The service was a bit slow. The burger was different but very good!!! Beautiful area on the river. read more

I'll give Johnny Hernandez this: the location is always great but that is it.  My colleagues (Party of 6-7) dragged me to this place this past Saturday afternoon.  The place was not busy at all.  It took forever for our server to get our drinks and order.  The food took an hour to prepare.  Our order was very straight forward, no substitutions.  Customers all around us were getting their food after waiting maybe 20 to 30 minutes.  We complained to the manager but he seemed to hold no sway with the cooks because all he could do is stare at them.  The food was just ok, passable for a burger joint. We sat indoors and flies were everywhere. I don't know why I ever let anyone talk me into going to Johnny Hernandez's places. They almost always universally disappointed by everything except the ambiance.  La Gloria, La Fruteria, Burgerteca, etc. are always terrible experiences, in my humble opinion.  I almost hate myself a little for going.  What's crazy is you'll see this exact same review on most of his restaurants and he still can keep his doors open.   This is all my opinion. read more

Couldn't find the location at first since it is located along the river walk and is behind some train tracks that looks like the is nothing there. The atmosphere is very clean, vibrant, friendly staff, open atmosphere. You can dine inside or outside. They have some delicious drinks, my favorite was el pepino, which is a cucumber flavored alcoholic drink -very light in taste but has a kick to it. And the beet patty burger (vegan burger) is too die for. I have never had such a burger that is not meat have so much flavor. It is paired deliciously with poblano peppers and onions on a wheat bun. It's a good sized burger which is very filling. I highly recommend it. read more

This little burger joint is in a small trendy area. My husband and I ordered two different burgers. His had queso on kt (yum) and mine had a pineapple (who knew this would be good). The burgers were well executed as were the mole fries. It is expensive for what you git but at least it was tasty. read more

Delicious burgers! A most delightful fusion of burgers and Mexican cuisine at very reasonable prices! The mole sauce is quite tasty and the service is lightning quick. I love pretty close by and frequent this place quite often. Would definitely recommend! Try the Oaxaca burger and mole fries (but ask to go light on the mole sauce, they slather it on a bit too much). read more

Every burger on the menu is so unique. I recommend ordering different burgers and sharing them in a group. When I'm in the mood for a light lunch I love the ahi tuna burger on lettuce. When in the mood for decadence I like the enchilada burger. Mole fries and queso fries are a must. The drinks are good but all on the Sweet side. Save room for dessert. read more

Horrible service! Talked to the owner about numerous horrible customer service experiences and he didn't care either. Makes sense now why staff is horrible, they are taking after their leadership! read more

Expensive The waiters are in search of big parties because they love big tips. For a party of five the man asked for a $20 tip. Because of this, I am doubting this place. The food is ok but not to be worth that much, you better off go to a steak house and eat a good steak instead of a burger with semi-mexican flavor. Please don't go to Burgerteca if you are in a budget and you just want a burger. Just go to Longhorn Cafe. read more

This is a great little restaurant hidden in an up-and-coming area of San Antonio. The staff is amazing, they're attentive and quick and our order came out very quickly and was absolutely delicious. The food was Sooooo Good. We loved the atmosphere an friendly service here we will definitely be back!

I appreciate the idea of the place more than the execution. I thought the food was alright. It was nothing particularly exciting. I feel like I have to give them a second chance since they had to return to items on my first visit. One because I could tell that the aguas frescos were made from the powder packets (that's not okay in my book), and I had hair in another (they replaced it which was sweet). I thought it was pretty pricey too for such a middle of the road food, and we tried a nice amount of food from the menu. I say try it out if you're in the area... and if you're in the mood for burgers... and have eaten at Whataburger too much. read more

This is a great burger joint for burgers. The burgers are really good and the drinks are different and good. The buns are a little big, but I think people here like big buns. The menu is a little small though and the all the burgers seem to have the same stuff except for protein. It is a good place still though for a good burger. read more

Food was alright, we had to send the choriqueso fries back because they were so dry. Second batch was much better. Burgers were ok. Service on a Friday night was not the best. Seemed under staffed. THE PARKING. Ugh make sure you are eagle eyed for fire lane and no parking. The signage for parking wasn't easily seen, my friend was towed, we got a parking ticket. Burgerteca staff was very kind to help figure out where the vehicle was towed to. They seemed to know this happens often. The tow truck is just lurking up and down the street waiting to tow someone. Very disappointed experience overall. read more

The Al Pastor is the best burger I've had! I wasn't sure about the pineapple but its just enough to add that perfect amount of flavor. The fries are so good as well. They are the bigger cut fry which usually aren't very crispy but theirs are perfectly crispy. Only thing I didn't like was the chairs were extremely uncomfortable. read more

When you want to really treat yourself to a fantastically-delicious burger, Burgerteca is the place to go! Besides the great tasting food, the atmosphere is fun, colorful and inviting. The staff was friendly and attentive. I am by no means a regular, having come here about 4 times over the course of 2 years. Each time, the experience has been wonderfully consistent. If I ate burgers more often, that number would be much higher. I have some decent options on the Northside of SA, but I knew the drive to Southtown would be worth it. And it certainly was! read more

I'll start this review by saying how much I appreciate a restaurants attempt at creating a different type of cuisine but sometimes it just doesn't work . The queso burger for instance , I tried to like it I really did I even removed the chips and queso which really gave the burger an odd taste it did nothing to help it . The black beans while very good didn't fit either. This was an attempt at incorporating Mexican food into a burger but it just didn't fit . read more

It's a little on the pricey side, but it is an interesting and eclectic venue, which draws folks in from all over the city. The food is good and interesting, it's the wrong place to go out if you don't like any kind of Mexican food LOL. Great drinks read more

Burgers were awesome and truly different from anything we have had but it was the fries that won me over. Rarely is a place able to make them have that perfect crunch on the outside while being soft on the Inside. read more

Burgerteca truly hit the spot. The first sip of my margarita on the rocks wasn't a flavor of margarita mix or tequila...it was a strong burst of refreshing lime juice. It was strong but perfectly balanced. I've had many more terrible margaritas than good so this was a welcome surprise. We all split chips and queso and it was fantastic. Burgers were juicy and absolutely delicious. Even the fries served with my daughter's quesadilla were impressive. I'll be a regular here!! read more

It's good, but not the best I've had. The burger patties are all the same looking, made by the hundreds at every restaurant you've been to, with the toppings changing based on what you order. Again, it's a good restaurant burger but that's what I'd expect anyways from a restaurant that only does burgers. I would come again. read more
