    Burrito Bowl

Came here Sunday morning after a bike ride on the Riverwalk. They're right on the bike path. Plenty of outdoor and indoor space and seems like chill vibes all around. It wasn't too busy when we got there. They have a pretty extensive caffeine menu. I got the churro latte and my wife got the horchata latte. They came in GIANT mugs and was not too sweet so brewed to my liking. Would like to try other drinks in the future. We also got good there at a reasonable price. The burrito bowl was bomb. The al pastor burger was a little too greasy imo but still tasty overall. Service was a bit slow but that's because they only had one wait staff working. She was a champ.

Enjoyed the foods, drink, and service Burgerteca provided our group. Our server Valeria was all over it. If we needed it, she got it. In the south of Southtown, there is a place... three places actually, depending on what you're hankerin' for. Burgeteca, Maragarita Garden, and Southtown Coffee are all housed under the same roof. So, you can practically stay here from dusk til dawn. On this particular occasion we went down for burgers or margaritas, but we found both were amazing. I ate the chile con queso burger with sweet potato fries. It was good. Liz took down a carne asada burger without even me getting a bite, so it too must have been good. The queso was delicious, but like all heated quesos... you have to eat it while it's hot, or it will harden - fine for burgers, less so for chips. Before and after food, we all enjoyed a variety of the margarita fare. I started with a pineapple paloma... i could have stayed with this one all afternoon, but I'm an adventurer. I had them make me an off the menu spicy margarita, which was pretty good, I should have stayed with the on the menu selections. The hibiscus blossom was refreshing and the Bee Sting was honey-licious - if you're into honey. All the drinks were unique in taste and presentation. The staff were super friendly, there was plenty of street parking closer to the venue, but not much, so make sure to get there during the off hours to secure close parking. All in all great time at the margarita, burger, coffee joint.

We had a lunch group of 12 people at this restaurant yesterday. It was my first time eating here. The service was great and superb. Our food came out fast. The decor was on point. They had great seating indoors and patio seating outdoors. This location is great for small get-togethers family or lunch date. They have a delicious menu to choose from and delicious drinks.

What a fun place for a meal; It's large, and bright & decorated with lots of cutesy stuff. I went for lunch but after the rush so the food didn't take long to come out. The food was beautifully presented. Everyone in my party was pleased with their food . I was bummed to hear that they're turning the place into a sports bar. I hope that it doesn't loose it's quaintness in the transition

My oldest son and his wife came down yesterday to hang out with me for Father's Day. We spent the day going from place to place trying out new breweries, brew pubs, and restaurants. We chose to visit Burgerteca because it was on the Burger Week list. They wanted to eat a couple of the listed burgers at different venues so they could both try them and support the fundraiser. There isn't a lot of parking right at the restaurant, but we got lucky and got one right across the street. That was fortunate, since it was so hot that a hike from parking would have been rough. When we got inside, there weren't any tables available inside. The server told us there would be about a twenty-five minute wait. Fortunately for us, there were exactly four seats available at the bar, so we ordered drinks and settled in for the wait. After a short while she told us that we could eat at the bar, if we wanted. We agreed to do that and ordered our food. About a minute after ordering, the server came back and moved us to a very nice table. The entire restaurant is pretty festive. They have lots of those beautiful Mexican statues. You can't help but feel like you are celebrating something. The food was really good. I had the Oaxaca burger, which was NOT the Burger Week offering. I couldn't settle for a bacon barbecue burger once I saw one with mole negro, black beans, pickled red onions, avocado, and queso fresco. It was a great choice and a great burger. I also ordered some mole french fries. They were amazing. My wife and I both had some of the venue-made ice cream. It was pretty good. They have about ten flavors to choose from. I had Kit-Kat. There were some tables that weren't being used, even though they were super busy. I think it was to make it easier on the two servers who were constantly in motion. This was one of those places where the AC was struggling to keep up. It was hard enough for them to keep up without adding customers. Our particular server seemed to be the boss. She not only greeted customers as they came in, she took orders, served food, helped clean up when guests left, and made drinks at the bar. She was awesome.

Great service and atmosphere but food is nothing special. Pros: the bright and colorful restaurant creates a fun and family friendly atmosphere. It's welcoming and fresh. The staff are incredibly kind and helpful. They're friendly and make sure you're taken care of. Cons: the food is ok but it's nothing special. I think the highlight was the mole fries but the mole was a little one note. I was expecting more complexity. The red onion really helped bring it up a notch! The big disappointment was the chile con queso burger. The beef tasted almost unseasoned. I'm not joking I've had more seasoned patties from Whataburger. The queso was a little plastic like and I couldn't detect even a hint of chile. I was hoping for some spicy rich complexity but it really fell flat. The crunchy tortilla chips took away from the burger and only really added a bland somewhat crunch. The toasted bun was nice but I was hoping for more all around.

This was a fun find! I really enjoyed the food but the service was a little bit odd. The first waiter we had was awesome, he recommended I try the veggie burger which I really enjoyed. It's different because it's made out of beats, but I liked it. It comes with some slaw and sauce. A second waiter brought me my food asked me how it was and when I said "I like my burger" she replied with "I don't like that one". Her vibe was weird, but overall the location was really nice and the food was good. The star of the meal was the sweet potato fries, they were a 10/10. They have a dog friendly patio and sell ice cream.

I was so surprised on how good the burgers were. We shared the tuna burger and the vegetarian burger. We also shared sweet potato fries. The veggie burger was delicious. It had great flavor. It also had little crisp to it. I would definitely get it again. The tuna burger was huge. It had two good sizes of tuna and lots of fresh avocado. They have inside and outside seating. I love that you can bring your dog and they even have puppy ritas. Parking is available on the parking garage next to it and it's free. They do have happy hour on weekdays. Service was a little slow.

Even though my food came out cold. Very cold. I had to return it. I will never take a redo on my order just me. The lady at the bar however was so nice that that is how this review gets all stars. Everyone was great. The other plates were cold too but they chose to eat anyway. The sliders look really good. I will go back to try them another day. The tots were also really good. It's a good place. Go try them. Very festive inside. You will like it.

Burgers never disappoint when we hit up Burgerteca! Drinks and desserts are perfect for these hot Texas Summers! Homemade ice cream hits the spot every time! While the community dining is different it's a great ambiance overall! Service has been great every time we've visited! Family friendly spot!

    Draft cold and amazing taste

The stuff was amazing and drinks are perfect highly recommend.. The stuff is awesome here you'll need to visit this place.

Good food with a Mexican twist! Burgerteca is one of my favs now, I had the hot dog and it was 7/10, pretty good! The Chile con queso burger was a 9/10, and sliders were 8/10. I recommend this place for a quick and yummy bite to eat. The house margarita was to die for! So yummy and sweet. I will come back!

FIRST TIME VISIT!…read more Woohoo! Been looking for chili cheese fries and happened upon a review for this place boasting fries with a homemade chili so we HAD TO stop in tonight. THE LOCATION: on the very end of a string of businesses in a strip mall that I've never been in before, so that was cool. Lots of parking, that'll never be an issue. And right off the 410. THE MENU: Burgers, dogs, Mexi-style munchies and a variety of frozen dessert-type items like shakes, frozen fruit concoctions and Italian ice. THE STAFF: I wasn't overwhelmed with a warm welcome and smiles, at least from the guys. Lol! They should really work on that. There was a sweet gal who ran out our food orders and she was great. THE FOOD: I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich deluxe with tots and a sweet tea. The grilled chicken was juicy and cooked well and the bun was lovely, slightly sweet and toasted. Overall, the sandwich could've used more flavor, like a creamy bbq spread and cheddar instead of the "Swiss" cheese that tasted more like American cheese. But overall, 7/10. The tots were extra crispy and the guy who took my order didn't take heed to my request for ranch. I was too lazy to get up again so I settled for ketchup. The sweet tea was nicely sweet and fresh, I'll be sipping this in my dreams. The hubby ordered the bacon cheeseburger with chili cheese fries and an Oreo cookie shake. The burger looked good and he ate it quick, so there's that. This guy can EAT so it surprised us both when he slowed down fast after eating that burger. Lol! He kept saying how filling it was, but then he also killed a large shake before the food arrived, so there's that. He ate most of his chili cheese fries, leaving me a few bites to sample. Not bad. I order a Coco Haven frozen dessert to go and omg is this thing delightful! Vanilla ice cream and coconut Italian ice (?) with a blue snow cone-like syrup drizzled throughout. I loved the texture of what I believed to be Italian ice. Smooth and flaky, a perfect icy dessert. OVERALL: decent eatery, the hubby said we can go back (LOL!) Shockerrrrr! But I recommend the staff tries harder to make customers feel welcomed and comfortable. The next visit will be telling.

Yeah, okay, it's convenient, but by the time you pay to park (minimum of four hours, which pissed me off) and then have your tiny, overpriced burger...you gonna be mad. Do yourself a favor and fight for street parking. I walked up to the outside counter Saturday night about 7:20. Never been here. The ladies behind the counter obviously could NOT have cared less. No nice welcome...no pleasantries. Nothing said. I spoke first, asking about seating availability inside (it was chilly), and they were rude - looked at me like I was from outer space and said they didn't know. They said they didn't know in that "yeah, good luck with that...it's Saturday at 7, dumbass" kinda way. How could you not know? And if you truly didn't know, which one of them should have gone to check for me. So I went and checked myself. Turns out: plenty of seating. Returned to the chilly duo and placed my order. Ordered the Wake and Bacon burger. I also ordered a Topo Chico, which was also met with a blank "are you from this planet?" stare. How do you not have Topo Chico or something similar !? The burger was just okay. Tiny, but tasty. Fries were so salty and over-seasoned as to be almost inedible. No one checked on me after bringing me my burger. Not one time. The only reason I gave the third star: neat, dog friendly outside area which would be cool for a group outing. Probably not going back.

Drinks were AMAZING! Bartender Rob made the best Negroni I've ever had. I asked him to use whatever gin he thought best--result was an artistic smooooooth full-bodied drink. Told him when I was done I'd lick the glass if it wasn't considered so uncouth for a 'mature' lady like myself to do so Hubby's Buffalo Trace bourbon old fashioned was also outstanding. Rob was the bartender last night who did such a great job, and his work was even better tonight. We highly recommend The EsquireTavern for excellent cocktails. We love the long wood bar and high copper ceiling upstairs, but love the intimate speakeasy atmosphere downstairs even more. We'll definitely be back every time we're in San Antonio! First review, Friday night: Drinks were great (Manhattan and Bourbon Old Fashioned). REAL drinks, no complaints at all about those. And the bartenders were very friendly and helpful. Those aspects of the Esquire get 5+ stars from us. But the appetizers were not good, close to inedible. It was about 8:30pm or so, so maybe they were getting ready to close out the kitchen but the chalupitas with chicken tasted like rubber, and no flavor at all. The seafood platter had something in it that was breading with shell inside, but no meat of any kind. We couldn't figure out what it was supposed to be. The shrimp was good and the fish was good but those other things... We'll always love the drinks, the long wooden bar, and the ambiance at the Esquire Tavern, but we'll eat somewhere else and come here for before or after dinner drinks. (See update above to this review for when we returned the next night for after dinner drinks.)

My partner and I went on a Sunday morning just after 11am and there were already people coming in to eat. It's popular for a reason! I've eaten here a few times and had a very consistently good time, but this review will be about my most recent visit. We visited on a rainy day, but luckily we were able to snag one of the inside tables, we ordered at the counter and our orders arrived very quickly. I got the Ratchet dog which is a beef dog with queso, hot Cheetos and fried jalapeños. Dogfather uses quality dogs and buns for all of their gourmet dogs. I found the Ratchet to be meaty, salty with just right amount of spice from the jalapeños. My partner got the Pop it like it's hot, but removed the jalapeños. This was good but lacking a bit of flavor, however she and I both agreed that was on her for taking the jalapeños off the dog. Both dogs were extremely tasty, and we devoured both. I also got an order of curly fries loaded with their chili and cheese. For me, these did not have to go as HARD as they did. The chili they are using at Dogfather is seriously good, with a slight tang and a good amount of spice. It thrills but does not take away from your meal with too much heat. Very tasty. My only feedback is that Dogfather needs a larger space! There's a good size outside seating area, but for times like today when it's raining people need some coverage. They're doing it right and the crowds want to come! As I have stated this is a local favorite. If you live nearby, make it a regular spot. If you live in San Antonio, do yourself a favor and make a trip over at least sometimes. If you like hot dogs you won't go wrong.

The grilled onions and sauce were the perfect compliment, and you could taste every flavor in each bite. The drinks came in cans. I didn't notice a fountain setup, so that might be why.
