I used to not like this place because there was very little for me to eat since I don't eat meat. Even the appetizers were full of meat. Now that they cater to vegetarians too, I am much happier. I really love the impossible burger and feel like a normal person who can have a burger with the rest of my family. The food is really delicious and the service is wonderful. The last time we went there I really enjoyed myself and found that the restaurant made you want to stick around and enjoy yourself. I didn't feel rushed or hurried in anyway. It's very nice to have another option in town when you have been eating at the same places over and over again. read more

Solid burgers. We had Kyoto (tuna), Haus, and Vienna (bacon, bacon jam, beer braised onions) and all of them were good. The garlic Parmesan fries were good but I don't think I'd pay the up charge for them next time. Service was relatively quick considering it was Saturday night, homecoming, and it was pretty busy. The patio is nice when the weather is right for it. My kids like the option to get iced tea with flavored syrups for drinks here too. read more

I have been a regular diner at Burgerhaus for several years, but I can no longer justify spending the amount of money they charge for a burger, fries and a drink. Just look at the prices posted on their Yelp page. As I write this review the Burger of the Month is over $25 and a regular Haus burger is ten cents shy of $21. That is absolutely insane for the quality and food portions you receive. The past several times I dined in the restaurant the service was below average. During each occasion I was probably only one of three tables sat. After the server took my order and someone else delivered my food. I didn't see my server again until they gave me my bill. Three different servers, one dining experience. Despite these issues I do think the overall design and aesthetics of the restaurant are well done. But not enough to make me ever want to come back when there are better places to get a burger in Valpo. read more

A solid 8.5/10. Can't remember every burger i've ever had otherwise this would have been the best burger i've ever had. Fast, phenomenal service. Low wait time at a busy hour. Very fresh. Incredible taste. Cute, neat little spot. I had the Del Mar with the spicy blue cheese fries. My partner had the Aussie and the truffle fries. We shared a deep fried Mac n Cheese bite appetizer. My only negative is that I do not like ketchup, so if you could have an option for the Mac n Cheese bites to come with a spicy chipolte dip or a cheese dip, I would give 11 stars. *the restaurant told me i could order a different sauce for the mac and that's worth an additional 300 stars* read more

First visit to Burgerhaus, it was bitterly cold outside and it wasn't very warm inside! They had a small heater going near where we were seated, but it didn't help much. We ordered the onion rings as an appetizer only because apps were 1/2 price, so $7 was a fair price, they were delicious and very generous order. The remoulade dipping sauce was tasty. We ordered the Haus burgers, they were good, but came so quickly I doubt they were freshly cooked. The fries could have spent a few more minutes in the fryer, they were a bit soggy. Soft drinks were 3.75 each! With free refills, way too pricey IMO. Service was good. read more

Stopped in for dinner on a beautiful late summer evening. They have outdoor seating, so we grabbed a table outside. Ordered the buffalo shrimp and the "Burger of the month". The buffalo shrimp was perfectly crispy, tangy, and came with ranch dipping sauce. I would order it again! Highly recommended. The Burger of the Month was the "Cincinnati"; a burger topped with garlic mayo, arugula, tomato, chipotle Monterey cheese, fire glazed bacon, A1 sauce, and fried onion straws. The burger was absolutely wonderful, but I could have used a little more A1. The burger came with potato wedges which arrived hot and were decent (as far as potato wedges go), but nothing special. Also tried the coleslaw which was a little off for me. It was definitely a bit non-traditional, and whatever spices they used just did not work for me. Bottom line - we'll be back again. Good service, great food, nice area. My wife ordered a different burger so we cut our burgers in half and swapped them so that we were able to try two different burgers. Our server was helpful and accommodating as we ordered another burger to go right before we left. read more

It was a great day to eat outside and the Burgerhaus had plenty of comfortable seating. They were very busy but it didn't seem to greatly impact the service flow. I ordered the buffalo shrimp, the Salamanca with coleslaw and a sangria. The appetizer was flavorful but the slight spicy buffalo sauce seemed to overpower the shrimp. The Salamanca was delicious! The beef patty was covered in a generous layer of chorizo, verde sauce, crispy tortilla chips with avocado below. I changed the bun from a pretzel to a brioche. I couldn't eat the entire sandwich but wish I could have! The coleslaw was tangy and had an interesting spice that I couldn't quite identify. Overall it was tasty. The sangria was very refreshing, fruity and delicious. It came with ice which was a new way of serving it for me. I've been to the Burgerhaus several times before and it seems to keep getting better. Pro tip: There are lots of tasty burger options. If you go with someone, get two different burgers, cut them in half and share! read more

This is our new favorite burger place in Indiana! They have 2 locations in Schererville and Valparaiso . They specialize in burgers and you can order a pretzel bun for any burger on the menu. The burgers are so juicy and delicious! They have a kids menu as well and the kids get a free scoop of ice cream at the end of their meal. They have good appetizers as well. When this restaurant was new in Valparaiso, it was the best hamburger restaurant in town, but after about two years, the hamburgers tasted just like fried frozen patties, nothing special. Service started out great, then like the hamburgers, went downhill. One of our favorite waiters had even left. Slow service and subpar food. I ordered a mixed green salad. Apparently, they don't know what the different types of lettuce are. The iceberg was also old. It was so old that it was dried out and getting rusty. You can see the clumps in the picture. The tomatoes were old and a weird texture. Carrots were completely dried out. Looking at the menu I was excited. My wife and I decided to give a few things a try in addition to the burgers. The onion rings are about as good as I've ever had. The batter was exceptional and they were fried perfectly. The sauce that came with them was good as well. The fried pickles really wanted to be good, but whoever put them in the fryer didn't make any attempt to separate them so they were in 3-4 big clumps instead of any semblance of individual pickles. I think properly dropped, these would have been as good as the onion rings. The burger itself was well dressed, ad the brioche bun was very good. The disappointment here was the burger patty itself. Had to be 88/12or 85/15, and was very dry. Not a drop of juice to be found. I had also ordered mine medium, so as not to be too juicy on the brioche bun. It was barely medium rare, and my wife's was barely rare. Both patties were under-seasoned and very bland. I've had better patties that were frozen. The burger was also slightly under-sized for the bun. Another nice treat here was the Cajun fries. These were the perfect size to go with a burger, and very well seasoned and cooked. Staff was nice, friendly and the order came in a reasonable amount of time, but the burger patties themselves killed what could have been a really good meal. Also, this was very pricey for what we got. I don't mind paying for a good burger, but there area lot of better burgers out there for half the price. read more

My first time going to Burgerhaus and probably last. I get it, places are short staffed so waiting wasn't that big of a deal. However, when ordering water and getting the glasses that are filled with water stains and you can tell where the last several people drank out of the glasses is just disgusting. The milkshakes were good but it was hard getting over the fact that the glasses were not clean. We ordered the Aussie burgers, it included bacon, cheese, an egg and a whole wheat bun. The bacon and the whole bottom side of the burgers were burnt like someone forgot about it, noticed and said "eh they probably won't notice if it's on the bottom." (I ordered my burger medium) The sides we got were Mac and cheese and sweet potato fries, found hair in both and the fries were cold when they reached the table. The waitress was friendly but also disappeared for very long periods of time. Milkshakes were good but dirty glasses, bun proportion to burger size was way off by having almost half as big of bun to burger. Probably won't be back. read more

My wife and I went here a while back at her suggestion (which was great because I'm far more a burger lover than she), and we really enjoyed the food. My mouth was watering just by reading the descriptions of the burgers, and my jaw dropped when I saw the Baton Rouge. Jambalaya burger. H*ck yes. I am a sucker for a classic burger, but this unique burger sounded so good I thought I would regret not ordering it for my entire life. And so I didn't take that chance. I never knew I needed a jambalaya burger in my life, but now every morning I wake up without one in my hands, I shed a tear, put on a brave face, and start my day. I long for the time when I can hold her in my arms again, and she'll hold my right back. My wife chose the Kyoto and thought it was really good too. But I wasn't really listening to her, as I was singing a love song to my sweet burger. Food was good, once someone noticed that we were sitting there, (given that we were close to the only customer it is hard to believe). The staff was apparently just wanting to chill. Anyways, we order and 20 minutes later, out comes one milkshake out of three. Then out comes one of the four meals. Wait another 10 minutes and out comes the final three meals. So after defending my daughters meal from her two older brothers we are all able to eat together. Decent burgers and decent grilled tuna sandwich. They do not have a liquor license, only beer and wine. They have a good selection of craft beers. read more

Another good addition to Valpo! I'm leaning towards 3.5 stars but I will give Burgerhaus the benefit of the doubt. There weren't too much of a selection when I attended Valpo back in the days. So it's always a pleasure to see new businesses pop up. Our group of nine dined in at the patio on a Saturday evening. Business was rather slow so we had all the attention to ourselves. The burgers were fairly priced at $10-15. Our party ordered the Haus, Rhinelund, Aussie, and Monterey burgers. Each plate was served with a generous side of fries placed within a stainless steel basket. The burgers were juicy and fries were crispy! Suggestions: I was tempted into ordering one of their appetizers (i.e. blue cheese fries), but I restrained myself when I realized each entree also came with an order of fries. A little variation would be good. We dined in the patio area and there were a lot of mosquitoes. It would have been nice if they had set up some mosquito repellent lanterns. While we were busy stuffing our faces, we were also viciously attacked by a swarm of mosquitoes. read more

Went here with a friend, and I got a Cobb salad while she got a burger. The salad was large and really good. We both had beers. I ordered Schlafly Pumpkin Ale. It was thick as are most of their beers. The menu is limited, but the alcohol menu had more options. I'll probably go back a couple times, but not a favorite place to go. read more
