At lunch we decided to go for a quality burger place. I chose to be different & ordered a hot dog on the menu. The concept of this place is a lot like Five Guys. You pick the burger (or hot dog) & tell them which of the many great sounding toppings you'd like. Their toppings are definitely unique & fun. The pricing is very high for their food, so try to seek out their daily special. At lunch the burger (or hot dog) combo is for sure the way to go. I got my dog loaded with mango slaw, & marinated onions, & gourmet mustard. The dog was big & tasted like it was quality meat, versus questionable parts of pigs, lol. Anyway I was happy with my meal. Five stars for Burger Monger, by far my favorite burger in Florida. The St. Pete location is set up a little nicer, but honestly I've been to both and had great service and food at both places. Super juicy burgers, medium well with a tinge of pink usually, great array of toppings and sauces. Prices are reasonable for the quality of the burger (this is a step above the typical fast casual burger and prices are less than at places like Wahlburger or Shake Shack). Super appreciate the lettuce wrap (or spinach salad) option for my low carb (and barley allergic) diet. Last time it came with super crisp lettuce open faced which actually made it easier to eat, as well as less likely to get soggy- so a plus on that improvement. I haven't personally experienced any issues here, but as always your mileage may vary. I will continue to frequent Burger Monger when in the area (and continue to say please come to Orlando!!!). read more

We don't live in Tampa but this is the second BurgerMonger we've been to. We have eaten 6 different times over the past few years. And their food and ingredients are always fresh and tasty. The sauces are very complimentary of the food, which is plentiful and cooked perfectly. My wife had a grilled chicken (very moist) with fries and I had the impossible burger and a cup of chili. I'm not a vegan or gluten free-k but the impossible burger is as tasty as a real burger that it's hard to tell the difference. I had my burger on lettuce which was refreshing. I wouldn't recommend this place. Went to the one on McMullen Booth road right when they opened at 11 a few weeks ago and the lady taking our order was acting like she was drunk. My girlfriend and I ordered the blazing bacon burger the exact same way and she completed messed up both burgers. Neither of us received blue cheese on our "blue cheese burger". When we went to question our order the lady at the counter gave us an annoyed look which really irritated us. Not that hard to ring in the exact same burger with everything on it. After finishing my burger I instantly get a stomach ache and within a few hours I'm in the bathroom throwing up. I believe I got food poisoning or some type of cross contamination. Best Burger in town. One issue that bothered me. We dined in. One of the tv monitors had a program called Hell' Kitchen playing that was filthy. Every other word was the "f" word. That is a stupid irresponsible program anyway. If I brought my children there with something like this on the monitor, I'd walk out. That's tough to do because the food is excellent. Also, very offensive "Rap" was blaring out over the intercom. The atmosphere was negative for good dining. I hope Jake the owner reads this and takes care of it. Well that came to an end two months ago where I wound up with severe food poisoning. Wow! This is my final review for 2014, and this brings my tally to 765, I can hardly believe that, and I'm ending the year on a high note! I decided that lunch today was going to be at a place that I've heard people talk about, so after finding out that it was only minutes away from Tj Maxx, I headed to the local and walked right in. There was no line, only one lovely young lady writing "Happy New Year" on the To-Go sacks as she welcomed me to the store. She asked if I knew what I wanted, or if I needed a few minutes. It was my first visit, so I said it would be a moment as familiarized myself with the menu. First thing I notice is that their menu is similar to Five Guys, but their quality is STEPS above. I Ordered what I would normally get, a burger, with provolone, bacon, grilled onion & grilled mushroom, lettuce & A1 sauce on the side, an order of fries (Which is 1/2 pound of real potato) and a fountain drink. I was given a number, shown where the fountain was and made my way to a seat. They use real silverware, plastic glasses and real plates. Their teas were good, a choice actual brewed Jasmine tea as well as green and another. that I don't recall, but the Jasmine was Delicious! When the burger was delivered, it looked fantasitc, it was cooked perfectly and so were the fries. A few minutes into my meal, the Manager came over to see how I was, he asked how I found out about the place, I told him Yelp, and he called the Owner over, who happened to be visiting! The owner was happy that it was working in his favour. He said that he found that most Yelpers were more discriminating than usual food critics. ;) As an elite, I think that's true, that and we give our true opinion, it's not bought and paid for. We have been waiting for one to open in our neck of the woods. Right at 11:00, we walk in to a bright smiling face at the register. It is a beautiful new restaurant that is sort of hidden in a strip center on the southeast corner of Enterprise and McMullen Booth in Safety Harbor. You order your burger, get a number to put on your table, take a seat and they bring the food to you. This is not unlike how Whataburger does it or did it. We ordered two 8 oz. burgers with a Double Fries that we shared and two chocolate shakes. As we had asked, the burgers were cooked medium. They were just OK. The fries were a bit of a disappointment. There were a lot of fried potato skin under the top layer of fries. I felt a bit cheated but didn't want to make too much of an issue of it with management. Speaking of management, the manager(assume) had the front booth with all of her papers, lap top and personal effects in full view. Perhaps she could set up her workstation in the back of the restaurant rather than the front. The star of the show was their milkshakes. They were delicious! However, we did not get them until we were halfway through our meal. We were told that the ice cream was frozen solid. We both groaned and got to-go cups for the milkshakes. Perhaps they need some time to work out the Grand Opening jitters. During our meal, we were comparing them to 5 Guys and for it's price(our meal was just over $33), quality and overall taste. Five Guys wins. That being said, it beats 5 Guys on the comfort and eye-appeal. However, 5 Guys does not have delicious milkshakes. The staff is unorganized. Gave me the wrong receipt, when I received the correct receipt the order was wrong. They fixed the order on the receipt, but we waited for the food to come to the table. Our order was left on the counter top, by the time the food came to us it was cold, and the order was still wrong. we sent the fries back, the milkshake was ordered no whip cream, it came with whip cream, my burger came without cheese for which I paid extra for. Used to be a regular with my family for lunch on Fridays. The Cali Club was always my favorite but the last couple times coming the food has been burnt, very greasy, and very salty. The produce on our sandwiches were bad as well, brown avocado and under ripened tomatoes. Something has definitely changed and it's a shame because it used to be really good a few months ago. Finally got around to trying this place, which is right in my backyard practically... The food here is great. It's basically just burgers, hot dogs, and fries -- but very well done. You have all kinds of options for toppings, cheeses, sauces, etc. Everything is very fresh and of the highest quality. The place is modified counter service, where you order as you come in, and they bring the food to your table. You are usually on your own to fill your drinks and get refills -- although a server will sometimes come by and offer to help. My only complaint with this place is that the burgers are a bit on the expensive side -- around $10 without fries. The best time to go is on Mondays, when burgers are $5 (although there is an uncharge for cheese). If you want a great burger -- BurgerMonger will satisfy the urge! read more

Discovered this place because it's close to my house and I crave a burger at least twice a month. Love the way this place is setup and everyone is always nice and down to business when it is busy or not. I usually take things to go but I frequently order a nice cold beer while I wait. Burgers are on point, flat top grill delights. I upgraded to a larger size once and it wasn't really necessary so I go for the standard 6 ouncer. Toppings are amazing, you can literally pick anything. I go with the guacamole and standard lettuce and tomato with Monger sauce which is similar to thousand island. Akaushi beef is a nice touch but to be honest any good ground beef of prime or better quality will make a great burger :) But hey it's my goto burger joint in Safety Harbor! If I had to describe my burger in one word it was "messy." But burger was pretty tasty. We shared a small order of fries, which my husband really really loved!! When we entered the girl at the counter told us there was a burger special, it must be every Monday. She was very friendly and our food was delivered to us quickly. This place has the same concept as five guys and burger fi. But I would still recommend burgerfi over all these joints. Burger monger prices were really high in comparison with burger fi. One star for the lack of service and not even taking our order. Of all days too, my birthday (7/21) and THE place I chose to go for dinner was BurgerMonger! So we walk in and started looking at the menu tv boards above their counter. We have been to B.M. many times with and without our friend and/or relatives. So after several minutes of checking out the food items we planned our order. All we needed now was an employee from BurgerMonger to take the order and run the credit card. There was no one in line behind us and no one in line ahead of us. We were THE only one near there register to order and pay. As soon as we walked in one of the two employees (female) behind the counter acknowledged our presence and said we'll be right with you. (NOT) At the end of the counter, furthest from us, they were filling a to go order or maybe a Uber Drivers order. They were filling bags, talking back and forth to the guy waiting for them to complete the order. Now here we are, THE only people in line, hungry as all heck, fuming, and waiting for one of them to take order order. REALLY PEOPLE, DID IT TAKE TWO EMPLOYEES TO FILL ONE ORDER?! And how long were you working on this before we even walked in. Now its going on at least 5-6 minutes and still no one wanted to walk down to the registers and take our order! SIMPLY UNBELIEVABLE!!! Then she forgot to charge us for a gluten-free bun and came and found us and made us pay $1.07 even though she admitted it was her fault. BLUF: Go for the homemade chips, double check your order. Ok, upgrade the meat, it's worth it. I ordered 1 patty of the regular and one upgraded and split my burger open face to taste test the difference. It's absolutely worth the $ for the fancy akaushi beef (wagyu). For those who regularly order GF, it's the bun a lot of nicer burger places use that is sort of spongey. It didn't hold up on the bottom at all and I had to use a fork and knife. They do grill or toast it though and that rendered the top bun nicer than typical GF. But the real deal is the homemade chips. The regular portion is generous. I ordered extra crispy, extra salt, and that is exactly what I got. How do they make them extra crispy but not harder than they should be? How will I live without these chips from here forward? No other chips will ever be able to quell my craving. I am here on work travel. I swore the only things I loved about FL are orange juice and Tom Petty. But then I had these chips. They beat orange juice (sorry Burger Monger, nothing beats Tom Petty). I'd bet their fries are decent, too...the guy in front of me was pretty passionate in his ordering fries and he was clearly a regular. If I am ever in the greater Tampa area again, I am eating nothing but these homemade chips for my whole visit. If you're coming to this Clearwater location, be prepared to compete for parking. The strip mall is about 6 or 10 restaurants, so after work dinner and drinks meant full parking. Would be great if they added an option to request cutlery and napkins. We ordered through GrubHub and were delivered the wrong food. (The driver grabbed the wrong bag.) I called restaurant, and the manager himself brought us our correct order. I tell you, I have never felt so valued by a restaurant, EVER. They went out of the way to correct a mistake that wasn't even their fault. If the stellar customer service wasn't enough, they also have fantastic food. The burgers are cooked to order, and actually cooked properly. The sweet potato fries are just right- the right amount of sweet, the right amount of crispy. The regular fries are perfectly rigid and fluffy in the middle.
