Kewpee Hamburgers - Cheese burger, lettuce, pickle, onion and mayo

We had to find street parking because there was nowhere to park. We ordered burgers, fries, a small soda, a medium malt, and a slice of sugar cream pie. The staff were all friendly and helpful. The way they do things is a little different. They put a tray right in front of you and prepare your order as you watch. Very efficient! An interesting thing to note is that the small soda is the smallest soda cup I've ever seen. It holds around 6 ounces, so I recommend ordering the large because it's only 30 cents more. My cheeseburger was under $4 for 1/4 lb, so very reasonably priced. I selected my toppings (tartar sauce, onions, lettuce, and pickles), and my hubby got a double cheeseburger with bacon and added miracle whip, lettuce, onions, and tomato. Another interesting thing is that they use miracle whip instead of mayo. They also use butter lettuce, which I've never seen on fast food burgers. It was a nice touch. Our burgers were really good, but my hubby wouldn't get miracle whip again because it has an overpowering flavor. The fries were good, though a bit dry. The malt was like a chocolate Wendy's frosty, but so much better! It was really busy the whole time we were there, including a nonstop drive thru line that went into the street. Kewpee's is obviously very popular with the locals, and I can see why.

Through the months it has progressed into a full-service coffee shop along with dine-in service for food. Positives: The interior of the restaurant is clean and inviting and it has a good flow to the space. Food-The taste of the food was all great. Frozen Hot Chocolate was a big hit with the kiddos. All of the wait staff including the chef were very friendly and went over and above to make sure we had a great experience. Places to improve upon: My family of 4 (2 adults/2 kids) ordered 2 burgers (One regular and one small version), one large fry (split between all 4 of us), one side salad, 1 beer, 1 roast beef sandwich and then 1 small frozen hot chocolate. I know that prices have gone up but these was not as expected. We paid including tip over $70 for our meal. Definitely not family friendly/affordable. All of the sandwiches do not include sides and the sandwiches don't stand by themselves as far as quality/quantity for the price they are charging. Yes the food is great but not for that cost. The Station Burger does not bring an $11 flavor. Huge let down. The kids menu is void of any healthy options for children as far as the main entree. They at least try to make up with the sides applesauce or Gogurt. Overall I would love to bring the family back for breakfast since that menu is a little more affordable/price point for quality of food served. Its a great place to eat, just a few places to improve on. Best wishes to this newer restaurant in Lima!!!

The drive through line was wrapped around the building and in another business lot. I walked inside and the line to order was snaked around the dining room about 20 people deep. I guess this must be good. They are old school, they take your order on paper, have only a few menu items, and to be honest, I was surprised they took credit card. After going through the line, I placed my order, Cheeseburger with lettuce, tomato, onion, and mustard. No mayo, because they only have Miracle Whip, ewww. That's where they lost me. The burger was ok, but it needed more flavor. I needed mayo. It is better than a McDonalds burger, but I draw the line at Miracle Whip.

Walking in is like stepping into a time machine. It's as old school as old school gets. From the employees uniforms to the bright orange stools to the retro booths, eating at Kewpee is like dining inside a museum of burger nostalgia. THE ORDER: Double Cheeseburger w/ LTO, mustard, and pickles. On the side, I went with French Fries and a Cup of Chili w/ shredded cheese and sour cream. For $10.47, this was the lunch of champions. Everything tasted fresh and delicious. WIll it blow your freakin' mind? Of course not, but it's a damn fine meal if you ask me! What a find in Lima. I started with a gummy bear cocktail, which was just like drinking a strawberry Jolly Rancher. Then my date & I were served toasted ravioli as our appetizer... they were perfect! Crispy on the outside, soft & tasy on the inside. The marinara complimented the ricotta and breaded pasta well. For my meal, I had some yummy fried shrimp with cocktail sauce. I was very pleased. My curly fried potato wedges (don't call them curly fries!) were crisp on the outside & soft inside. I really enjoyed them. My side of fruit & side salad with balsamic vinaigrette were fine, neither great nor terrible. My fiancé had some delicious chili, though it was cold when served. Out waitress obliged our request to reheat it & when it came back out, it was just right. The cornbread was moist, sweet, and "cakey." I'm from North Carolina &, let me just say, the cornbread was some of the best I've had in ages. The chicken sandwich was good. We ordered some cinnamon caramel pretzel bites (like cinnamon sugar balls) to go & I can attest that they didn't last long the next day when they were warmed up. Overall, this was a nice meal in a quaint Ohio downtown. Should we return to Lima, we'll stop in at 318 again!

The place was very clean and the staff was friendly. I ordered a hamburger, chili and soft drink. The hamburger was good but lukewarm. I found that to be odd, with so few people, you didn't have the decency to give me a hot hamburger! The chili was mediocre, which is precisely the reason I didn't get what I really wanted, which was a coney dog. With the way the hamburger and chili were, I have low expectations for the taste and quality of the hot dog. Other than that, everything else was fine.
