I wasn't sure if the bar was abandoned, closed, or if they were just unwilling to accept my business. Moments later, what could only be a "regular" sullenly unlocked and opened the door for me. I asked "are you open?" and got an affirmative grunt in response. Master McGrath's is actually quite spacious and clean; the bar has about 15 seats, and is well-lined with small flat-screen TVs, the better to see the Sox beat the snot out of the O's. They have an internet jukebox, and a popcorn machine for free snacking. I knew right away that I was in a bar frequented almost exclusively by regulars; the surprisingly cute female bartender was eager to prepare drinks for the customers walking *in from the back door* before they sat down. I received a fairly standard silent-treatment half hour, followed by a cautious inclusion in some casual conversation. Being a gregarious individual, I soon was laughing and chatting with the regulars, and even had one of them buy me a drink, a favor I returned later. I was not able to get a Jameson - the man who bought me the drink explained that "if there's a bottle of Jameson, I'll drink it all." Of course, I didn't know if he was a manager, owner, or regular customer, but he is apparently important enough to the management that in an Irish pub, they don't stock Jameson. The buffalo fingers are top feckin' shelf. Definitely worth ordering. Hyde Park is a neighborhood that could use some more folks making the trip down to see. Lisa, the bartender, is cute and friendly, and will chat you up about shark week. All in all, not a bad way to spend three hours on a Sunday afternoon.

And let me tell you... it absolutely lived up to the hype. First of all, the ambience? So cute. The space was very clean, which I always notice immediately, and the aesthetic is this perfect mix of retro and modern. It has that nostalgic, cozy feel but still feels fresh and updated -- super cutesie and definitely Instagram-worthy without trying too hard. The food was amazing. Fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. Every bite was worth it. It's one of those spots where you instantly understand why everyone keeps talking about it. What really made the experience unforgettable though was the customer service. I had a little accident with my bag (so embarrassing ), and they didn't just brush it off -- they fixed it for free without hesitation. So kind, so professional, and genuinely caring. That level of service is rare. Incredible food, beautiful atmosphere, and even better people behind it. Easily a 5-star experience -- I'll absolutely be back.

I don't have anything to compare the smashed burger to because this is my first time trying a restaurant quality smashed burger. I'm a little torn if I like smashed burgers or beefy burgers lol I must say though, their burgers are seasoned well. I'm sure it's just salt and pepper but it's enough! The edges had enough burnt edges. I did a double with Yeanie sauce. I'm going to give the burger a 8/10. I wish my burger had more onions. I also tried to loaded fries. It was a little overwhelming LOL there was alot going on including 2-3 different sauces including cheese. I'll give it a 7/10. A little more light on the sauce would be better but that's just my preference. I was told that the tenders were amazing. I ordered that for my son and he loved it. I agree, the tenders were pretty damn good. My wife tried the Nashville chicken sandwich . She rate it 7/10. The slaw inside the sandwich was amazing. The sauce itself was ok. She wish there was a little bit more of a kick to it. Overall, I would definitely come back to get their burgers. Just once in a while. Reasoning is, it's a bit expensive. You do pay for what you get and that is good quality dishes. But $13 for a burger that doesn't come with fries can be a little steep... Definitely come and give it a try!

I'll start by saying, this is the kind of place where you need to get horizontal for a few hours after eating. If you're looking for a healthy, balanced meal, this ain't it. It's a decadent burger joint in the best way, with big portion sizes and a menu full of loaded burgers, chicken sandwiches, and fries. With this being our first order, we wanted to sample a few different items from the menu and went with the sweet chili smoked wings, 504 chicken sandwich, and chopped cheese fries. Everything was delicious, which is good because with only two of us, we were eating leftovers all weekend. The smoked wings were super flavorful and crispy (even with a ton of sauce) and the 504 was one of the better chicken sandwiches I've had in a while. Would love to come back to try the burger sometime, I've also heard great things about their impossible burger if you're looking for veg options. Overall I'd say Bred if definitely worth a try!

I even recommended the owner for an award from the city that they won. I truly believed in this place. But over the years I have been noticing changes. I did not write about them because I understand running a restaurant is hard. But today was the last straw. I placed an order with uber eats. The courier was nice enough to text me and say they sold out of my meal. Allegedly the restaurant tried to contact me. When I called them directly they told me I needed to cancel because uber is a third party. This is why I am upset. I have been using uber for years. Different states and different countries. People have always been able to get a hold of me. Most of the time the receipt comes printed with your number. Second, they could of canceled the order and spare both my time and the courier time. The person was on a bike! My time was wasted because I had to go through prompts to get a person. But uber told me via bot that the restaurant needs to cancel otherwise, I would only receive a partial refund. I don't mind they ran out. I mind my time and the couriers were wasted because they didnt want to do the work to cancel. Now I feel embarrassed for supporting because they don't care.

It was 9 of their plates plus a dessert. It was way too much food (they had said it would be). We could have simply picked what we wanted to eat and gotten a reasonable amount of food for a reasonable price. I do not recommend "The Ride". As for the food, we liked the tuna tartare (a tad salty, but still good) and the hamachi crudo. The brussels are noteworthy at Brassica, so it was nice to get them - they are charred with maple and miso and served over white rice. The pork belly was fine. The lobster pasta was so spicy we couldn't eat it. The oxtail was excellent - I loved the flavors of the tomatillo; ironically, we probably would have not ordered that unless it came with The Ride, and I am glad we got to try it. The one thing we had that didn't seem to be in the menu was duck, which was very good. We also were served a pepperoni pizza and caesar salad, neither of which I could eat because I was so full. And the salad was so salty, I wouldn't have been able to eat it anyway. Dessert was tiramisu, which was solid. I'll go back to brassica, but pick my own dishes, and ask for ones that aren't spicy and have less alt in them,. To be fair, most restaurants over salt their food these days, which is so unfortunate.
