Stopped by here to grab a quick bite for dinner since it was close by. Amazing service, 10/10 and great burgers. I got 2 bacon burgers and milkshakes with curly fries. Fries were fresh and crispy. The milkshakes and burgers were especially delicious. To top it off, the service was superb. I was originally going to order the guacamole burgers but was informed the avocados that day were not ripe. I've been here multiple times and I can't recommend this place enough. Sure it's a bit off the beaten path for Sacramento, but it is worth the trip so you can witness an old school burger joint. The fries here are always cooked perfectly. The burgers are always cooked to order. This place can get busy during lunch time so you are warned. If you're from the South Sacramento area you have either been to Burger Junction at some point in your life, or you at least know it. It's kinda hard to not know the place on the corner of Power Inn Rd. and Florin Road, that every Saturday during the summer. Has as parking lot full or classic & hot rod style cars....it's definitely attention getting, and something I remember every summer for as long as I can remember. I grew up around the corner from Burger Junction so I'd been here at least a handful of times when I was younger, but up until last year. I hadn't been back in over 20 years, some of those years due to being stationed on the East Coast. And the first time back allowed me to introduce this place to my girlfriend. Because it had been so long we were both looking over the menu like it was our first time here. This past time for visit my girlfriend decided on the 'Grand Junction' burger (1/3 lb pastrami patty) w/fries, and I chose the 'Giant Junction' burger (1/2 lb pastrami patty) w/fries. Both also come traditionally with Thousand Island dressing, bacon tomatoes, onions, and lettuce. The pastrami patty was really good and I think complimented really well with the thousand island dressing. The first time my girlfriend and I went I think she like her burger more than the second time, but I believe it was due to the amount of mustard on the burger. Masking the flavor or the pastrami patty, and I'm thinking she chose the standard setup of the burger the first time like me and not the option w/mustard. What's also interesting about Burger Junction is that when you walk in you'll notice a lot of the restaurants history adorned on the walls, with old photos of the first Burger Junction customer from 1989. And the original owner in the back and at the grill. The only note I'd make is that if you're not familiar with Burger Junction just be mindful that it kinda dive like, so there hasn't been much if any upgrades to the place since opening besides the look of the bathroom. So the environment looks a little run down, but I think the food makes up for that. read more

Went here a few years ago and food was amazing. Thought I would revisit now with the new ownership and I wish I hadn't. My avocado burger had avocado slices with the consistency of a crispy apple, I had to take them out. The avocado was so difficult to eat that when they were preparing the burger, they must have known how difficult it was to cut, and then decided to still serve it without letting me know, how unfortunate. So glad I paid two extra dollars for that. The chili cheese fries were subpar at best. The fries themselves were actually tasty but the chili portion was quite lazy. It was just beans with no chili to be seen. The bacon cheeseburger I ordered was only decent as well, the bun was fluffy, and the cheese and spread were good, but the patty and bacon left to be desired. Overall, I would not come back here, it's a shame, because the food used to be really good. Hope they can turn things around! read more

Unfortunately Burger Junction is under new ownership. When I asked if it was the same owners they replied "yes" just like my old favorite donut spot on Mack & Center pkwy did when they were sold. Burger was salty and no where near the amount of pastrami on the burger as it use to have. They took one piece of pastrami and cut into pieces and put that on top . The food wasn't terrible but it wasn't what is used to be either. My family has been going to BJ for years, my dad even had his own meal that we'd ask for and the original owners knew what we wanted when we mentioned my dad. My dad passed away in March this year, I miss him and now I'm going to miss Burger Junction too read more

This place has new ownership. The quality has dropped substantially. They don't toast the buns. They use a different kind of lettuce. The patties are also different and they overcook them. This spot is tucked into a very nondescript strip mall, but the food is anything but. We called in our order and headed over. It was lunch for 5 people and ready in like 20 minutes. Super quick and the service was amazing and friendly. The food was equally on par. The burgers were ahhh-mazing!!! The meat was clearly quality, the seasoning of the burger was perfect. We all got different burgers from the Giant burger, mushroom burger, bacon burger, a plain burger and a cheese burger. They were all cooked perfectly, the ingredients were fresh and not soggy nor greasy even though it was packed to go. We have made our kids into foodies, and our 11 year old daughter was quick to point out that even her plain burger was flavorful and seasoned! LOL We also ordered lots of sides to share, onion rings, fries, fried mushrooms and zucchini and chili fries... I know, sounds like a ton and it is but we wanted to try things we hadn't before and being covid, we really wanted to support this local gem so we just went for it. Let me tell you, they were all fabulous. The hardest thing to do is to fry a mushroom and have it keep it's integrity and let me tell you, these mushrooms, were on point! Perfectly tender yet firm. Also and I want to point this part out because many places don't service their fountains often enough, but the carbonation to soda ratio was also on point. I grew up coming here with my Grandpa in the mid 90's. Stopped by and ordered the Mushroom burger. Brought back all the memories from 25 years ago. Sad that I let this much time go by and pass this place almost everyday. The restaurant itself is like a time capsule. Same menu board I remember from back in the day. I hate to be FTC (first to criticize) amongst all the 4 and 5 star reviews, but I feel I need to voice my disappointment in the grilled fish sandwich I recently had. I realize this place is a popular hamburger joint, but if you offer other options on the menu, you'd think the same standards would be given. My boyfriend brought me here for lunch because he had enjoyed the food a few times in the past. I was happy to see that fish was on their menu so decided to give it a try over a beef burger. When our food was ready, the first few bites were acceptable, probably because I was hungry. As I continued to eat, I was noticing that there wasn't much flavor. The bun was fresh, so was the sliced tomato and iceberg lettuce, but the grilled fish was blah, even a little too fishy. There may have been some mayo or tarter sauce used as a spread, but I couldn't taste it. I ate most of the sandwich, because I didn't want to waste it. But at least I enjoyed the French fries which helped to satisfy my hunger a bit. Now I know that the next time we come, I will stick to ordering what they seem to be good at - burgers! Burger Junction aka SALT CITY. Yikes. My boyfriend mentioned this burger place before and I finally decided we should go. We got the pastrami burger, philly cheesesteak, and small fries to share. The cashier, a young lady, was very friendly and asked if we had enough time to look at the menu. There is a window where you can see into the kitchen as they cook your food. The philly cheesesteak is pretty plain - steak, onions, and cheddar cheese on a roll. It was incredibly salty - I'm not sure if it was the seasoning or the cheese. I wish it was provolone and was dressed with lettuce and tomato - that would have helped cut the salt. I liked the softness of the bread. The burger was also very salty, probably from over seasoning and pastrami. I liked the softness of the bun as well. The fries were standard, but surprisingly NOT salty. Weird. The food was too salty for me, but others probably enjoy it. It's kinda in the middle of nowhere, but at least there's a parking lot so parking is easy. The building and decor is very old/outdated, but the establishment is clean. I would give 1.5 stars if I could, but rounded up because maybe it was a fluke or I'm too sensitive to salt (?). Wish I could have found this earlier! When trying to have a meet-up with a friend, I logged onto my trusty yelp app to look for a new place to try out and this popped up for burgers in the Sacramento area. Located off of Florin and Power Inn Road in South Sac, you'll find this dive (of the diners drive-ins and dives classification) in the middle of a raleys plaza (I think thats the grocery store, I'm most likely wrong, but thats besides the point). When you walk in, you can see a bunch of the dated decor, including an awesome old school burger joint sign, the kind that you have to manually put the menu on with the letters and stuff. Most of the seating looks like those party of 4 table/bench booths. There's not much to be seen with decor, but the food more than makes up for it. As usual per my trying of new places, I try to get the signature food item on the menu, and here it is the Junction Burger, available in 1/2 and 1/3 patties. On top of this signature burger, you'll find a stack of pastrami with gooey cheese. You can order the usual everything with it (lettuce, tomato, pickles, onions). This is all wrapped in the appropriate grease catching wrap. I'll have to say, this is one of my most favorite burgers that I've had in the greater Sacramento area. I'm a fan of pastrami, so it makes it all that much better. Had me eating every last bite. The burger itself is appropriately priced, running about $6-7 depending on the size of the burger you order. The workers are pretty nice. Very welcoming. The only thing that kept me from scoring this place a perfect 5 is the fountain drinks. At least during my visit that day, some taps didn't seem to be working that good. I couldn't seem to make a good Arnold Palmer, turned out super sweet. The bad sign of it was the gurgling-ish noise that the Iced Tea tap was giving me. Definitely worth a try, I'm for sure bringing friends here as often as I am in the area and craving burgers. read more

Stopped by burger junction yesterday on way home from Kaiser. You would never find the place by driving by. My husband desperately wanted a GOOD hamburger. We got him the jumbo burger with pastrami. I got the regular cheese burger. We ordered a side of fries and onion rings. For a snack on the way home we got the little corn dog bites. Every thing was so bad for you but oh how tasty. Forgot . This place is almost exactly like the Mom 'n' Pop burger place I worked at in high school. I wanna thank South Sac for keeping it local and making sure this place is busy on a Wednesday night 15 minutes before closing. It's hard to watch big chain places pop up everywhere and the local businesses fail, especially when they have a great product, so keep it up, y'all. We got the double bacon cheeseburger and the single of the same, curly fries, and onion rings. Everything was as you'd expect and delicious. The onion rings aren't the beer battered kind, they're more like the Burger King ones in flavor, but on steroids so they're big. Nice. The girl working the counter offered ketchup for my fries, or ranch for my rings. Places usually wait until you request. Nice. We couldn't finish it all... okay, okay, HE couldn't finish it all and I probably shouldn't have. No regrets. They are really great and have done great things with the place and added awesome new items to the menu.
