I can never taste the cheese on the sandwiches, and if they don't give you enough sauce the bread is so dry. On this occasion we were near one so I said let's give it a try. I got their version of a chicken parm in the Dutch crunch bread with added tomato and lettuce. They also added the Ike's sauce which was weird because it's not listed on the menu and when the man read back to me what would be on my sandwich he didn't mention it. Thankfully it wasn't overbearing so I barely noticed it. But I don't know if they are rationing the marinara but there was barely any on the sandwich. The fried chicken also has no flavor or texture. So even though the sandwich has plenty on it it just lacks flavor. My husband got a BLT with avocado. Again it was just fine, nothing special and it lacked flavor as well. For $12 - $15 per sandwich I always want more from it. The sandwiches are a decent size and can be split into 2 meals. So the price is fair. But I just wish there was more going on with them flavor wise. We parked in the Trader Joe's lot behind the store. This place is also walking distance from plenty of hotels.

When we walked in, we were asked to join the waitlist. we waited MAYBE 5 minutes if that and seated at a booth. Our server was attentive, and brought us our drinks shortly after we ordered them. something I liked was how efficient the service was despite how busy they were that morning. I ordered the spam an eggs, potato cakes, and sourdough toast and jelly with a cup of hot tea. everything was amazing! I totally recommend this place if you're visiting the Monterey area or even if you're a local!

This place does breakfast, and the American side of the menu which I got to taste, was executed well. I'd go back for that. For those curious about the Filipino aspect, I wouldn't have high expectations. Their lumpia wasn't super special. Compared to the thousands of lumpia I've had in the US and across the world, they were just OK. For the price they were charging per piece, I wasn't the biggest fan. They didnt blow me away in flavor. They were also a bit burnt/ over fried for my liking. I also ordered the pork belly fried rice. Definitely Filipino inspired, with the adobo inspired sauce. Both the pork itself and the sauce were sweeter than I expected. The fried rice as well was disappointing. It was neither Filipino style for breakfast (sinangag) or a typical Chinese fried rice. It was an Americanized heavy-on-the-butter style. When it comes to viewing with a Filipino lens, it was a bit boring. I dont mind twists on Filipino food. There's plenty of it and plenty I've enjoyed, including on my numerous trips to the motherland. Unfortunately, the ones here were a bit underwhelming. I'd go back here for the amazing staff and limiting myself to the American traditional breakfast. For those hoping for a Filipino breakfast that shares more authentic flavors, I'd keep very low expectations.

We met Raul at the counter. He is by far the most friendly, kind and informed restaurant staff (about gluten sensitivity, gluten allergy and what it is to have Celiac) we've ever met. He explained how he prepares the gluten free dough separate, bakes it separate and plates it separate. Based on Raul's genuine concern and knowledge, my hubby decided to try it. Our family had various different sandwiches. (I had the very delicious Vegetariano.) We all agreed they were THE BEST SANDWICHES WE'VE EVER HAD...EVER...ANYWHERE...(mike drop). The freshly baked bread was incredible, all of the ingredients were fresh, even the side salad was amazing!!! The service was straight out of the old days, when people actually had pride in their work and genuinely cared about how you were treated in their establishment. We wish every restaurant that offers gluten free options could have someone as friendly, kind and knowledgeable as Raul. The ambiance was very cute/quaint inside and out. It was a beautiful sunny day so we sat outside to enjoy the sunshine and listen to the sea lions. Raul came out to check on us and we could not thank him enough for his amazing food and hospitality. When we said how much we enjoyed the gluten free bread, he told us he sold the flour (from Italy) inside. My adult son immediately bought some for us to bake gluten-free bread at home. (We've since baked gluten-free bread and it was just as amazing) I've told everyone I know about this amazing place. It has the trifecta of what makes us want to return frequently: *****Food *****Service *****Ambiance Until next time Piccolo!

Note that this restaurant is on the ground floor and there is a different restaurant up top. We ordered the Mortadella Pistachio Panini and the Piccolo salad. The panini was absolutely awesome and the meat was sliced so delicately thin. The salad was good, but the panini was way better. Service was quick. Note: The restaurant doesn't have its own bathroom but there is a public restroom across the street. The public restroom was a bit gross when I went in (lots of flies swarming) and did not have a diaper changing table.
