True Burbank locals, Jim and Jill were personable, friendly, and very good at tag teaming the situation I had with my broken sprinklers. They definitely had experience and know-how about sprinklers and effectively repaired all of my broken pieces, along with providing grass-tips on how to revitalize and kick-start dead areas of grass. Two caveats: 1) Jim and Jill are typically booked because of how popular they are. So be ready to book them in advance for any projects. I wouldn't be so sure on securing them if something breaks and leaks while your sprinkler system is offline --call a 24hr service plumber instead. 2) Jim and Jill will give you verbal quote and it's an honest and trustworthy one. However you should probably treat this as an estimate, because during their repairs, they found a couple different problems with my sprinkler heads that they didn't anticipate and my price increased... just something to keep in mind; or get it in writing and have them sign that before they get to work, if you have a budget to keep. But it's not bad or anything-- they did a great job! - I'm giving an honest review, because most repair companies give a quote first in writing. Overall, I had a very nice experience with this Local couple 'Burbank Sprinklers'. They definitely know the neighborhood, know their sprinklers, and grass types. Having not touched our sprinkler system in several years, it needed a lot of work. Contacted Jim and he was able to come out promptly and gave us a very reasonable quote for the repair, and he was able to address the issue at that moment. Later, we had Jim and his wife come back to move a major part of our sprinkler system because of some other work happening in our yard, and they came came out twice to assess to what needed to be done, and temporarily capped and moved lines until the other work happening in the yard was completed. Once the other work was done, Jim and his wife came back, completed the reworking of the system, added new heads and valves, and ensured that the system was spraying the landscaping and not the new construction. Just wanted to share an updated photo of our backyard grass. 4 months post sod installation w sprinklers the grass is dead. We knew it might die based on how it was installed (pls refer to first review) BUT remained hopeful. Look somewhere else. I will give a honorable mention they came to fix a sprinkler head and adjust sprinkler heads bc they give you a 1 year guarantee of work. Our sprinkler timer box gave out (I didn't notice until our trees started looking very sad) and I called Burbank Sprinkler and they made themselves available within 48 hours and completely resolved our issues. Highly recommend. I was interested in upgrading my sprinkler heads with the rotary type, but after speaking with Jim and some other contractors, it was recommended that I don't use those. Apparently, I'll end up running sprinklers longer to keep grass green, so it's possible savings would be minimal considering the cost of changing out all the heads. Jim suggested he can come out to look at my property and see if the "dead" spots on the lawn could be corrected by just replacing some heads. Jim arrived with his wife and upon meeting and chatting briefly, they seemed they were providing their honest opinion. They ended up replacing a few sprinkler heads to improve the watering area and I ended up asking them to check the entire property, which they did. I don't usually write reviews but I just had the best experience with Jim and Jill! They were available the next day to repair an old corroded valve. I was expecting to shell out 150+ even for a simple fix, because people can charge whatever they want when you need something done. Wow- what a breath of fresh air! I had a new drip system installed in January, and recently several plants had died and there was a fungus on a large tree. I called Burbank Sprinkler to come over and give me an estimate to fix the system as I had been told by my gardener and another sprinkler specialist that the plants were dying because they weren't getting enough water and something was wrong with the drip system. Jim from Burbank Sprinklers came over and spent at least 30 minutes trying to figure out the problem, and then told me there was nothing to fix- my problem was overwatering- not a broken drip system. He could have easily been dishonest and charged me for doing nothing. Instead he was a true professional. The world needs more people like him. I was very optimistic at first when they finally came out to do the assessment I thought great now we're getting somewhere. Unfortunately after I replied to the bid email and told them that I wanted to do the job, they did not respond to me and I have emailed multiple times there after inquiring as to when we could start the job and I have heard no response. I even wrote an email letting them know if they didn't want to do the job. Oh how they lied to me over 3 days! I wanted a quote for work in my front sprinkler system. On July 18th the technician showed up half hour late and said he could NOT do the repair because it would take too long and he had 4 others to attend too, and my job was only alloted 15 mins. He said he took pictures and sent it to his boss. Hours later JILL shows up unannounced saying she didn't have my phone number. I have been a client for three years!!! BUT she said they'd come out on July 26th. And left in a hurry. AND I could NOT even ask her what the price would be... THAT began three full days of lies and deceit. NO ONE told me she went on vacation and would not be back before JULY 30th...FOUR days after the work would have suppose to be done!! AND no one else could give me the quote???? I think not. I am sure Jim is a lovely guy and does great work - or so I have read here but... I couldn't get an estimate. All I wanted was for someone to adjust my sprinklers - no repair, no parts, no digging just adjusting. I couldn't get an estimate without forking over 90 bucks. I live in Burbank and thought someone could just pop by and take a peek at my yard - NO, I asked if I could get some sort of ballpark figure over the phone - NO. Could someone tell me whether this would be a $150 job or a $500 job - NO. I had no problem with waiting a week and a half for someone to come by but to pay $90.00 for and estimate to adjust sprinkler heads just seemed insane. Our water sprinklers suddenly started going off when our controls were turned off (and me being pretty unsaavy when it comes to fixing things) so called Jim and he was so quick to respond and came over to our house within 30 minutes! I found a leak in my sprinkler valve late in the day on a Saturday afternoon. I called Burbank Sprinkler and Jim answered right away. He was kind enough to help walk me through shut-off of the water temporarily since it was a weekend and they could not come out right away. Fortunately, they fit me in the following Monday and replaced the leaky valve. A few days after, I found the new valve to be leaking again! It was a slower drip but a leak nonetheless. I called Burbank Sprinkler first thing in the morning, and they came out the same day. Jim and Jill determined the problem to be a faulty valve. They replaced the valve with a new one and retested the system, making sure there was no more leaking. They spent a good part of the afternoon diagnosing this issue and making things right. This was at no extra cost to me. I think this shows a genuine concern for their customers and pride in their workmanship. I found them to be very responsiveness and am happy they made efforts to correct the faulty valve situation. Came out a month or so ago to check some sprinkler heads, and help direct them properly, etc. Things are now working properly, however - the street is still wet, and the sprinkler heads are almost 2 inches off the ground and neighbors are tripping. Needed some repairs done to our system. Tried calling and no one picked up and could not leave a message. Finally got someone on 7/18 and took 1st available appointment which was a week later. No one showed up. Husband called and was told they would find out what happened and call him back. They never called him back. I called later that day and spoke with someone who checked their appointment book, confirmed we were in it and put me on hold to try to reach the technician to find out what happened. He was unable to get a response. Apologized and asked if we wanted to reschedule for the next available appointment which was in AUGUST. So disappointed all around lack of customer service. Disappointing experience. Terrible communication / customer service. They did not respond to numerous emails and phone calls to make right a job they did for us. The irrigation system they installed stopped working properly after only a few of months. All the good Yelp reviews and our initial experience had inspired confidence, but actions (or, in this case, silence) speak louder than words. They do not stand behind their work or seem to care. There were many issues with my neglected old sprinkler system (leaks and none working zones) and the whole project took 4 visits to complete. Jim and Jill came out and took care of a valve that was working weird. Both of them work using a walkie talkie system which makes communicating easier when you are at different sides of the yard. Called number listed as most reviews were positive. Totally disappointed . I had a prototype project I was working on. The woman Jill called back and was able to discuss the project after the work day. I preliminarily texted a few pictures and explained the project to her. She requested more pictures and promised to call back. There was a missed call about an hr later with no message and no answer when I returned the call. The next day I texted and asked her to return the call or text whether she was interested in the work or not. She Did not respond. Waited a day and then called her answering service stating that I was going to place a bad review on Yelp unless I heard from her. No response. I've been using Jim and Jill at Burbank Sprinkler for a few years now. When I had some difficulty with him not answering calls in July I texted him. Turns out he was using a new answering service and they were really doing an awful job. He never even got my messages and he was not informed of appointments that were made! Given his great service in the past I knew something had to be wrong. Just had him out last week and, as usual, he did a great job of repairing, replacing and adding new sprinklers. I HIGHLY recommend him. Found him on Yelp originally and he's been great to work with.
