I live close by and have probably passed Buon Amici 100 times before deciding to give it a try. I'm giving Buon Amici four stars for beating my expectations but 3.5 would probably be the right spot as compared to my other reviews. This is an old school Italian place. Expect the usual red sauce pastas and standards. That's not to say these aren't exactly what I wanted when we decided to try it. It's simply that the menu is ... simple. That said, the waiter rattled off about twenty daily specials and we mostly tried the off the menu items. Given the length of the list, it would have been great to have had them on paper. We forgot most by the time we ordered. Everything we ordered was good ... solid quality. The stuffed artichokes were bathed in olive oil (too much) and the special "gift box" pasta was quite tasty albeit with more butter and creme than any cardiologist would approve. Both were yummy nonetheless. Service was excellent. The waitstaff is clearly professional. Price to value was about right. For old school Italian, I recommend Buon Amici. read more

I came here for dinner on a Friday night. We had to move up our reservation, but with a quick phone call, they were easily able to accommodate the change. The street-facing entrance of the restaurant has a small flight of stairs. My mom was using a cane to walk, so this was a little tricky for her. A ramp would be a great addition here. There were only a couple of other parties seated when we arrived at 5:15pm, but the restaurant was nearly full by the time we left around 7pm. They had a remarkable number of specials including soups, appetizers, and entrees, which our waiter impressively rattled off from memory. Given the list was so long, it would've been helpful to have a written menu to refer to. To start, we shared one of the special salads. It had pears, strawberries, pecans, and lettuce. The dressing was a sweet vinaigrette. The flavors would have come together better with a more citrusy or tangy dressing and a sharp cheese like goat or blue. However, it was still tasty. My family also had the lobster and avocado special and enjoyed it. For my main, I had the pasta with broccoli, sun-dried tomatoes, garlic, and oil. I swapped the penne out for linguine. The noodles were served nicely al dente. The salty tomatoes provided welcome flavor. My family also enjoyed the halibut and the baby rack of lamb. The broccoli rabe on the cavatelli pasta overwhelmed the dish a bit too much. The dessert menu was also delivered aloud by our waiter instead of written. They had lots of variety. The apple pie was too mushy for my taste, but my partner enjoyed it. The amaretto cake was smooth and flavorful. Service was great. read more

My family has been loyal patrons of Buon Amici over the years and have hosted numerous special events there. My cousin booked his wife's surprise party there for this past Saturday (5/16) only to find out the day before that the restaurant was closed, completely cleaned out and phone disconnected. Meanwhile he had confirmed with them the week before and they said he was all set! How does a business do this to customers?! I know we weren't the only ones who experienced this. We were forced to scramble last minute to find another venue to host 35 people. Unacceptable and unprofessional to do this to people with zero notice or explanation. And to put on sign on the door with a disconnected number just adds insult to injury! If Buon Amici ever reopens they have lost my family's business! read more

Dined for lunch. Ordered from the $19.95 lunch special menu. Ordered the Rigatoni with eggplant and mozzarella and black olives. The eggplant was a bit bitter and the olives were black, but they were the cheap olives you buy in the Lindsey cans at the grocery store. I thought for sure they would have been kalamata olives in an Italian restaurant, not no taste black olives! The salad that comes with the lunch was nothing special. When I am in Westchester, Buon Amici is my go to place. Whether it's dining in, takeout, delivery, catering or a party it is always a five-star experience. There is outside dining available in the tent. Downstairs room for a party. Valet parking available, or you can park at one of the many spots on the street. I have been coming here for over 20 years for dining and business purposes. I've gotten to know the owner Chris over that time. Very hands-on whether it's helping in the kitchen, at the bar, or bussing a table. He's not afraid to get his hands dirty. He always treats his customers like family. We stopped in on Christmas Eve. Even on a busy holiday night, the service and food were outstanding. The fried calamari appetizer was crispy and seasoned beautifully. We shared a veal Sorrentino and linguine with shrimp, sun-dried tomatoes in vodka sauce. Veal, prosciutto, and eggplant with cheese is a great combination. Add a delicious sauce and that's what you have with this dish. The linguine and shrimp had lots of flavor. Scattered sun-dried tomatoes were a nice touch. For dessert we had a piece of rainbow cookie cake. I am usually disappointed when I order this anywhere. The rainbow cookie cake more than met expectation. The chocolate ganache was very rich. If we weren't full from dinner, I may have ordered another piece. If you are looking for amazing Italian food in Westchester, Buon Amici is the place to go. Five stars every time! read more

I went to Buon Amici recently to celebrate a family member's birthday. Recommendation was given from a local. There were about 5 of us on a weeknight and it took about 15 minutes to get seated with no reservation. The inside was adorned with Christmas regalia and picture frames with images of staff family inside. Really gives off the mom and pop vibe. Our waiter JC was very knowledgeable about the menu and offerings and on 2 occasions, he made impressed us with his reciting of 40 menu items and 20 deserts from memory. After the meal, not only did the wait staff sing, but they also were interactive during their happy birthday performance. We also received a glass of Wycliff sparkling wine. The food menu is fairly large and the wine list is as well. A multiple page booklet that covers individual glasses (house wine), half bottles, and full bottles. The appetizers were probably the best part. I'd recommend going with a group and sharing between everyone's plates. read more

The only Con: Very loud! And not because there was loud music but because there's no sound-proofing material at all and everyone just talks louder and louder. This is very Old Skool Italian. Great service down to the Limoncello at the end of the meal. We started with raw oysters. They were plump, tasty and no shells at all in the mouthful! Then we ordered one of the specials of the day, homemade pasta with peas, pancetta, shrimp and chicken cutlet in a lovely cream sauce. Excellent. We the ordered (on the menu) the linguini marinara with seafood. It was fine but not great. Stick to the specials. The chocolate lava cake tasted like it was either made off-site, or pre-fab and cooked on-site. Either way, not worth the calories. Great Italian spot in white plains. Buon Amici isn't your fine dining experience but they are such a friendly, comforting, and charming establishment. Inviting staff and delicious food. You'll get there and you'll just talk and eat and drink, and hours will pass before you know it! We got the oysters, burrata, and we shared the linguine with shrimp and scallops. They already split the pasta dish into two plates for us when it came out. Love that attentiveness. Bottle of wine to bring everything together. No complaints at all. I found myself at Buon Amici to attend a birthday party for one of my colleagues. I'm usually wary of Italian restaurants in Westchester, but am always open to new experiences and won't make a final judgement until I try it for myself. That being said, when I learned that the party would be here, I was excited both to celebrate my colleague and discover a new restaurant. Buon Amici sits near the top of Central Ave in White Plains. As you walk in you're greeted by a narrow corridor that houses the bar with a semi-wall that separates that area from the main dining room. We were actually seated in the back area which looks like it may serve as outdoor seating in warmer weather, but they did a nice job closing it up and providing heaters for the winter; it was nice and toasty in there. The decor was sparse where we were seating, but inside it was somewhat classic and old school. Since I was there for a party, we didn't have full menu access, rather select pastas and entrees on a prix fixe menu. Pastas were served family style - we had rigatoni filetto di pomodoro and cavatelli with broccoli rabe and sausage. The red sauce on the rigatoni was pretty good, and the cavatelli was also tasty. We then moved onto salad - I had the Caesar which was just fine - it was dressed well, but not overdressed. The croutons were also slightly soft which was welcome - I don't like when they're too hard and go flying everywhere when fork hits the plate. I will say that the salad wasn't elevated to restaurant quality in my opinion, it looks like I would have made this at home. For my main I went with the chicken scarpariello. I've had this dish at other Italian restaurants before and Buon Amici's was just okay. It had good flavor, but there was too much sauce in ratio to the chicken, sausage, and peppers - it made the dish a little sloppy. Flavor was fine, it wasn't the worst I've had but I've also had better. Service was great - everyone was friendly, and the entire team was on top of the tables making sure we were taken care of, it was much appreciated. Overall, I'm not sold on Buon Amici's food - it was just okay. If circumstances found me here again I wouldn't be disappointed, but I'm not running back. read more

Buon Amici is a rare find in Westchester with excellent food at a reasonable price. Their specials menu is as long as their regular menu which is pretty extensive already. Their waiters have it all memorized which I found amazing. In my recent visit I had a pasta special my son had the steak special my wife had veal rolatini special and my son's girlfriend had a pasta dish. When we left with our doggie bags we were all stuffed. I would definitely recommend this place of course now I'm making hard on myself getting back in. read more

The pasta fagioli was horrendous. I paid over $10 for the smallest container of soup imaginable. Not to add that the soup tastes like a canned Campbell and there were no ingredients in it besides the pasta and about 3 individual beans. Imagine being fed up and hungry. Do not recommend. Started with a couple of glasses of wine, the Burratta special and a Caesar Salad appetizers. Both fresh and generously portioned. The Pork Porterhouse special and the Rigatoni Bolognese followed. The porterhouse was thick cut, in a savory Scarpariello sauce with Sausage, sliced potatoes and Vinegar Peppers. Well cooked and flavorful. Iight so boom. Date night in Covid is far and few between. At 8:30 on a Friday night you'll be hard pressed to get a seat at some restaurants (*cough cough Yardhouse and Cheesecake Factory) due to indoor dining ending at 10pm, however Buon Amici allowed us to sit and enjoy our meals in their spacious and heated outdoor tents. The menu has everything you'd want a classic Italian restaurant to have. But their specials are top tier. The specials change often and are recited by your server. Our guy Eddie (what a guy) listed them all off with perfect specifics and descriptions that honestly, I put the menu down. Everything I needed was right in that section. Appetizers, soups, salads, pastas, chicken, meat and seafood dishes galore! I ordered the chicken filet that was stuffed and rolled with fresh mozarella & mushrooms topped with sundried tomatoes and a cream sauce. As a side I could've ordered french fries, salad, mashed potatoes or pasta (your choice of the sauce) and I ordered the pasta with garlic & oil as to not combat the flavors of the chicken and cream sauce with a marinara or vodka sauce. My date ordered the lobster special which was an entire lobster, broiled and topped with seasoned breadcrumbs with a side of penne a la vodka. Oh. Em. Jizz. It was SCRUMPTIOUS! Fresh bread and butter is complimentary with the table and I'm so happy we didn't stuff ourselves with bread (took it to go, duhhh) because the food was DIVINE. Fresh, flavorful, authentic, just YES. Add in 3 glasses each of Malbec, played a little soft rnb on our phones (the other party was far from us and unable to be distracted or annoyed with our music) and we really had a great time. You know Black folk, sometimes after a meal we "need something sweet" so we ended the meal with their chocolate molten cake with ice cream. Chocolately, soft, fudgy, just yes. Yes, yes, yes and yes. And the prices were fantastic! For the two specials, 6 glasses of wine total, and dessert we ran about $139 (without tip, & my date held Eddie down.) We exchanged named with our server and vowed to be back. Absolutely fantastic place for Italian food in Westchester--all the food is top quality. The owner Chris is super friendly and nice--he gave us a wonderful free appetizer platter and free champagne which was so kind of him. The service is impeccable, they are so attentive to all your needs, make sure you water is constantly refilled, check in to see if you need anything. The waiter tonight told us the list of specials by memory which was insane--there must have been at least 15-20 specials between appetizers and main courses that he mentioned knowing every detail by heart it was amazing! I had the french onion soup for appetizer which was great and for my main meal was angel hair pasta with oysters and mussels....the oysters were nicely chopped up in the pasta and the mussels were plentiful and cooked perfectly in a marinara sauce. They have a great outdoor heated tent now due to COVID with adequate spacing between tables so you do not feel like you are on top of anyone. All the food I have ordered from Buon Amici is ALWAYS delicious and done right--they have yet to make a mistake on my order when I go. They are also super flexible if you want to substitute your sides for something else, want a different sauce, have a special request etc. Their drinks are a bit pricey but the price of their food is very reasonable compared to other Italian places I have been to and their portions are more than generous. *TAKEOUT ONLY* I ordered Buon Amici takeout on a Friday night a few weeks ago through their website. I ordered the Chicken Francese which came with a side pasta as well as the Fried Calamari appetizer. The meal came with a couple of rolls and butter as well. Overall, I loved the calamari. Very fresh and the marinara sauce that came with it was delicious. I also loved the lemon with the protective mesh to keep out seeds. The batter is on the lighter side which I appreciated and didn't feel too bad about eating almost all of the dish in one sitting. The Chicken Francese was pretty good but the side pasta wasn't anything to rave about. I probably wouldn't have gotten the side pasta if I went back. The Chicken Francese was pretty good. The egg batter was nicely coated. The delivery was very quick through the website. I was really surprised they were able to come and deliver my food in about 30-40 minutes! Like my knife and fork couldn't cut through without me almost dropping my plate from the table. Absolutely no seasoning, Dry, and definitely NOT worth $30. Also, we ordered fried mozzarella - $10 for 4 pieces. My friends pasta came out cold and hard as in not cooked all the way.
