The problem? The beer is not good. Unfortunately, that's what they need to get right before anything else. Sampled the kolsch (soapy, both here and in Chantilly, so it's not just a glass or a line), porter (funky aftertaste), and the Melting Point Cold IPA (the most drinkable). I feel bad, leaving this review because the more senior employee I chatted with previously at Chantilly is a very nice guy, but I'm just letting beer drinkers know that the beer itself at Bunnyman is iffy...and it's not like you're coming for the ambiance of the industrial park or the guy illegally dumping by the train tracks I walked by on the way in. When I was cashing out in Burke, the guy working the till asked me how it was. I'm adopting a policy of being honest if asked, otherwise I'd have just let it be. I told him the beer wasn't good, the Kolsch, in particular, tasted a bit soapy, which reminded me it tasted the same in Chantilly. He said he's never liked Kolsch, and maybe they'll have better beer for me next time. Thanks for your personal opinion, I guess. But I like Kolsch, and I like a brewery that can do it decently well. The brand is from a local legend. This brewery is hidden behind the collusion place. They have no in house food. You can either get food from the food truck du jour or you can bring in your own food/snacks. They have a good size outdoor area that is dog friendly. They have 10 taps plus some frozen beverages. Bunnyman is a self pour place. You acquire a Bunnyman card which is tied into your credit card. You pay by the ounce. Select the glass of your choice, your beer selection, put the card in the slot and pour. It will tell you your ounces pour. Everyone is nice and helpful. They have seating upstairs & downstairs. I tried every beer they had. Not a single one was better than decent. The food was pretty good. But it's a brewery. Shouldn't you serve good beer if you're a brewery? The only IPA they had didn't even taste like an IPA. Their ciders were better. I just really hate the serve yourself thing. Sure, when you want a little more beer you can pour a 1/2 pint instead of a full one. But you can't get tastes. You can't talk to a bartender about the beers. And by the time you find the one beer you want to drink you've already spent $10 finding out that all the beers are lackluster. read more

Exploring around parts of Virginia, I typed up brewery in this place popped up. Incredible beers with a very helpful staff that are not only knowledgeable about beers but surrounding areas. The only bitch I have and it's not with this establishment. It's with Maps because when you pull into this industrial Park, it will guide you to the wrong address so drive around the entire industrial district and on the backside where you never expected to be will be this beautiful brewery and help wash it down as a little empanada stand. The empanada stand is good, just not outstanding so I would truly recommend more food options something even as simplistic as pretzels, and maybe smash burgers which are easy to create. Let's face it folks beer and food are a marriage in heaven. We just need to bring a couple together. read more

Ownership probably isn't going to take kindly to this review, but it is what it is. I'm going to be honest. Self pour is a scam. I said what I said. However... the beer is pretty good and the self pour system isn't 'as bad' as it sounds. I'll explain... We've been avoiding Bunnyman in Lorton because of the self pour concept when they opened up in Burke a few years back. My wife looked at the Lorton location website and it didn't seem to indicate it had the self pouring setup, so we gave it a shot. I audibly said "well crap" upon entering. The self pour tap system is a bit easier than meets the eye if you've never done it, but there's good reason I'm going to be giving it some sh*t in a moment. You grab a tap card at the desk and you basically just put it up to the card reader at the tap you want to draft from. The readers however leave room for error as contact isn't always precise. If you're trying to do a flight, which is how I prefer to sample different styles, you can still do it but you're using plastic cups which I LOATHE with a passion because they foam up so easily. It can be done... if you're patient. Now, if you know the right way to pour beer into a glass, you can actually make good use of your money here. See, the system runs like a taxi. If fluid is flowing, you're paying for it... and if you're good at pouring, you won't waste a penny. It's the folks who don't know what they're doing that are going to inevitably be paying more and in my opinion that's shameful on ownership. That's straight up scammy. I wouldn't be shocked if they're pumping too much gas through the kegs. Even if you wet your glasses beforehand, the beer is still very foamy. You see bartenders at breweries pouring and letting foam flow over but it doesn't matter for them. You're still paying a set price no matter how much liquid and foam they waste. That's not how it works here. Whatever comes out of that tap, you're paying for. Hope you know what you're doing and have plenty of patience. The food is okay. I don't think it's the greatest of value for portion sizes depending on what you get but I'd be lying if I said I didn't enjoy it. Would I return? Yes... but it definitely would not be my first choice. But... the beer is actually pretty good! So take that for what you will. They've certainly mastered the art of the milk stout. read more

Nice historic location in a previous prison. The barracks have been converted into artist studios. The workhouse Arts Center (non-profit) offers summer camps, art and music classes. The Brewery was wonderful, nice selection of self-serve beer and helpful wait-staff. It is a place that would impress visitors and a place we would like to revisit. We were there because our son was playing baseball at South County Middle School in the adult wood bat league. The perfect place to spend some time between innings. read more

Let me start off by saying; I'm not a beer person. I've only been to one other brewery and that was in Cape Charles. Didn't like it. -I came here today, as my daughter invited me to run a 5k with her and her friend. I'm a hiker, not a runner, but I agreed to go. It was a "Beer Run" for Bunnyman Brewery. (I did really well). Afterward, we each got a free beer. I looked hard at the board before deciding what to get. I settled on Cantaloupe Hard Seltzer, which I rather enjoyed, so much so, I poured myself another. We sat and talked and enjoyed the 2 man live band. I didn't get the name but they were really good. I had a few Bunnyman beers at the Burke fall fest this weekend which were positively delightful, so my friend and I decided to head to the brewery for a few more this weekend. The brewery is in an industrial looking building backed up to the woods. There's ample outdoor seating. Everything was very clean and the staff was very friendly. I really like the model they have going, where you serve yourself after purchasing a pour card that charges you by the ounce. There are no food options at this brewery, but you are welcome to bring your own snick-snacks or patron the featured food truck outside. The night we went it was "genuine Bavarian german food" - which was okay, but not worth the price. Next time I'll eat before we go, or bring my own food. The beers are a little pricey but well worth the cost. They offer an array of lagers, pilsners, IPAs, and seltzers - as well as some margarita/pina colada looking type drinks next to the keg/taps. I mostly sipped on the Kolsch - which I highly recommend! My friend recommended the seltzers. We stayed for a few hours watching college football, and had a great time. We recently visited Bunnyman Brewing for the first time for an ale tasting. Bunnyman Brewing is located on the backside of an industrial complex. We visited on a Friday afternoon of a long holiday weekend. It was rather humid out - so we opted to sit inside. There is plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. The beer experience is a bit different here. You visit with the cashier - and get what looks like a "credit card" - that one takes and places on each tap - to authorize and dispense the beer in question. The card keeps track of how much beer you've consumed - which then you will pay for when you close out your tab. We tasted all of the beers that were available the day we visited - we served ourselves 4 tasters at a time - using their tasting flight holders. Whenever we visit a new craft brewery for the first time - we are hoping to be impressed by the beer. Out of the dozen or so beers we tried - we only found three beers that we really liked: Bunnyman Experimental Triple IPA with BRU-1 & Huell Melon (4 stars on Untappd) Bunnyman Experimental Butter Pecan Coffee Stout (4.25 stars on Untappd) Bunnyman Begins Peanut Butter Milk Stout (4.5 stars on Untappd) I like the whole concept of leveraging the legend of the Bunnyman and Bunnyman Bridge. Growing up in the Northern Virginia area - during our high school years at Fairfax High School (1979-1982) - the legend of the Bunnyman took hold of our imagination. We did all the research to learn what was legend, and what allegedly happened in recent years with the two Fairfax County Police Department reports of a figure dressed in a bunny outfit - attacking people and property with an axe. We would take the girls down Colchester Road at midnight to party and scare them. The ambiance of the brewery is cool, and the staff was fun and awesome! The crown jewel of Burke! Growing up in Burke, I always lamented that there was absolutely nothing to do. No longer! I have been to Bunnyman several times now, and while I no longer live right in Burke, it's clear that this place brings some much-needed activity to the area. I absolutely love the theming to our local legend/partial cryptid the Bunnyman. On our most recent visit, we got the chance to play trivia and had a blast. Beer is self-serve, which can sometimes be annoying, but it makes everything quick and easy in the long run. The brewery has light snacks, but food trucks are there almost every day, and they're usually excellent. The beers are mostly darker than my usual fare, but they're always rotating and changing, and there are non-alcoholic options as well. Also - their merch is great! Bunnyman is well on its way to becoming its own local legend, and I can see a much bigger location being needed in the future. Thank you for making the area 100X more interesting! read more

I live right around the corner from Bunnyman and it took me awhile to visit because I was pregnant, but I'm glad pregnancy doesn't last forever so my boyfriend and I brought our daughter here to sit outside on a beautful day several weeks ago. It was surprisingly crowded with families, which was kind of weird because it was a weekday afternoon. Anyways..... It is a self-pour outpost and has a really great system! Yopu can try as little or as much as you'd like with this system, which IMO is genius! You can sit outside or inside and there is a food truck on the weekends. The beers change so often that when I went to the website to write this review, none of the beers I tasted were on the menu. Cool theme, really good beer. I'd give it 4.5 stars if I could. The location is (for me) kinda out of the way. Not a lot of indoor seating but plenty of outdoor seating. They had a food truck available, not sure about their own snacks. The beer was overall good with one or two great ones, with the almond milk stout being my favorite by far. I also liked a lot of other beers, and definitely didn't dislike any I tasted (I also avoid IPAs, so I know what I don't like). Had I found more beer that I loved I would have given them 5 stars easily. Just as importantly the service system is excellent. You get a charge card and pay at the end. You can pour as much or as little as you like and can opt for full pint glasses to smaller sniffers to tiny tasting glasses. Definitely a retry! read more

Very nice chill little brewery in Burke. Not much atmosphere as it's in an industrial park. I really don't see the point of sitting outside on an asphalt parking lot. My husband and I met some friends at Bunnyman Brewiing on Saturday night for their OktoberFest weekend. They have a nice selection of beer, some hard seltzer and a few non alcoholic drinks. They have a comfortable outdoor seating area as well as indoor seating with lots of screened area. There is a rotating cast of food trucks that provide munchies with your beer. It was kinda of a bummer the food truck there that night ran out of most things by about 6:30, but we were able to get a sausage sandwich with a couple of sides which were decent. Now for the drinks and how the serve yourself works. How it works-- You go to the register inside to get a drink card. The card enables you to get 48 ounces. There are three sizes of glasses under the bar: taster, snifter and Pilsner. There are wooden trays so you can make yourself a beer flight. There is a small water chiller for the glasses that you push your upside glass onto for a cold rinse. You choose which beer and associated tap and put your card in the slot. You can see how many ounces and the cost of each pour after you fill your glass. Be sure to take your card back out of the slot so you don't fund the drinker behind you. The beer -- I tasted a few things before I committed. I had a taster of blueberry strawberry hard seltzer. Very fruity with a nice kick. They use real fruit not flavoring. I love stouts so I also got a taster of the almond vanilla milk stout. It was sweet and very flavorful. That was my favorite along with the barley wine. I also tried the proper extra special bitter. It was bitter on the front end with a very nice honey finish. ABV rates range from 4.5% to 9.6%. After all those tasters, I went for the stout and barleywine. Atmosphere was relaxed and friendly. There were dogs and kids and everyone was just enjoying the drinks and the weather. This is a great new place to spend an few hours drinking good beer with friends and family. read more

I like that they offered the self-pour spouts here and they have a number of different beers to choose from. Since it was still fairly nice weather for a September night, there was plenty of outdoor seating and a bunch of hightop tables indoors. They have some board games for you to borrow and play with at your tables and they had a few large screen TVs inside too. read more

I didn't know this place existed until a few days ago. I was shocked to hear Burke had a brewery and the name was a 10/10 (based on the Bunnyman Bridge tall tale that people in the area know). I had no idea it was self-pour when I arrived and was so excited to see their amazing system! I actually had said a few years back we need more self-pour bars in the area. Their selection was amazing and I quickly fell in love with the Berliner Weisse. I do love my some sour beers. It wasn't too sour and a great beer to just enjoy. Everything I've heard about this place is true. The location, the self pour, and the events were all great! I have watched their opening from a distance. I've had most of my friends who live in Burke say wonderful things about this place. I finally had a chance to take part in the festivities. We came on Thursday Trivia night. Since we had a large group, we snagged 3 tables together. Our group of 11-12 people fit in quite snuggly. It's a self pour method to get beer, seltzer and even soda. You pickup a Bunnyman card that is linked to your credit card. You can do tasting flights of 3.9 oz drinks or you can just pour a tall one. All my samples were delicious. I am a fan of the Blueberry seltzer, it looks and tastes yummy. There's an upstairs sitting area that can also be reserved for private events. Trivia night is free and they give out prizes. For the past 2 weeks it was a packed house. They have outdoor facilities but it's too cold right now. They have "any bunny" restrooms for your convenience. read more

The best brewery in Fairfax! During my stay in Fairfax, I visited 9 local breweries. Bunnyman was the best by far! The staff were very friendly and helpful with beer choices, in a relaxed atmosphere. The Wicked Jack pumpkin brew was the best pumpkin beer I've had in along time. Definitely worth a visit. Also, the 7 Moltin food truck is a perfect addition. Heard about this place a while back but never got the chance to visit until recently. It's not really visible from the road, its at the back of the building. Parking might be a little tough depending on how busy it is, no parking lots. Seating area is pretty good. There are tables and stools against the wall and even a smaller second level. Love that its a self pour place, you don't see it too often around here. All you have to do is open a tab and get a card. We tried a few different beers but our favorites were the Peach Berliner Weisse and the Bunnyman Begins Peanut Butter Milk Stout. If we came earlier in the day, we probably would've tried more stuff. My girlfriend also tried the Butter Pecan Coffee Stout which she really liked. They also it seems they have a food truck regularly and they had the Roaming Coyote truck (Tex Mex) when we went and it was pretty good. I'll definitely come back since its somewhat close to me. Don't get me wrong, there were many things to like about this brewery. But there were a few things that really soured my experience and I will not be returning (even though it is so convenient to Laurel Hill MTB trails). First, the positives. Place is really cute with good indoor and outdoor seating with a good vibe. Pets allowed and place seems kid-friendly as well. Beer was good and so was food. Downside, OVERPRICED. I went here alone after a MTB ride and had tatertots and 1 beer and a 15% tip and it was $25! The beer alone was over $11. Because it is one of those "get-a-card-and-pour-you-own-beers" places, you do not get a receipt when you leave. I only saw the charge when I checked my credit card. They don't have prices on their website so I cannot even check if my tater tots were supposed to be $13. I didn't like that at all. I don't mind paying higher prices if I know what I'm paying for, but it isn't clear on their website or in the cafe how pricing works, how you can get a detailed receipt if you need one or anything. Because of that, I will be taking my business to breweries that are more transparent and I'm not tipping in order to pour my own beer. read more

Pretty cool spot in Fairfax, it's around thr back and there is parking there as well. Ample seating outdoors and indoors and upstairs as well. Food trucks on site but you are allowed to bring your own food too. They give you a card and you put the card against the tap and pour as much as you want, it'll charge to the card itself. When you're done, there's checkout boxes with % tips and they cash you out after. Good selection of beer and different glasses available. I liked that you could put your own flights too. I tried several of their beers, including a milk Stout, oktoberfest, peace sour IPA, Kolsch, and the peanut butter milk Stout. Great flavor of beers and the Peach Sour IPA was interesting as it was not overly sour or hoppy. Great atmosphere, I really enjoyed coming here. read more

A huge beer nerd here! Coming from the Czech Republic and working in the industry, I know a thing or two about beers and was impressed with the high quality of the brews here since they barely opened a few months ago. This place is a hidden gem! Literally, it was a bit of a task to find the place as it is at the back of the building, and my Google map was definitely not helping me much. Their brand is built on a well-known urban legend in Virginia about Bunnyman, and their marketing is top-notch! Their glasses, even bathroom signs, everything here seems to be thought through with a lot of detail! I love this place, and my tank top with the Bunnyman logo is super comfy, too! The staff crew is super helpful and definitely spend their time educating you how their PourMyBeer system works if you are a first-timer to self-pour technology, which by the way, only makes this experience more pleasant since you can try any of their beers and seltzers by the ounce! They also have a large outside seating area where they rotate various food trucks, depending on the day of the week. Overall, love their concept and can't wait to be back for more! read more

The Double IPA was really good (and I don't usually gravitate to IPAs), the tap setup is extremely sensible and fair, and the place is very cool. You get a scan card to run a tab, which you place into a slot in the taps when you pour, as much as you want, of any of the beers, seltzers, or sodas (I loved the grape soda), that Bunnyman brews, and you pay by the ounce, which lets you pour affordable tasting flights, or quick nips, as well as snifters and pints. It also displays your name, which is helpful when you accidentally leave your card behind in the slot like I did. We came on a late Sunday afternoon; football was on the TVs and a food truck was serving Tex mex outside for you to bring in. Sadly, they only can a few of their brews at any given time, so I could not take home any of the double ipa or grape soda. Maybe next time! read more

Lots of seating (indoors and outside) with football on the TVs during the season. The food truck schedule is on the website so it's easy to figure out your food situation. The tap wall makes it pretty easy to serve yourself, plus they have an express checkout system (really just a box with slots) to make closing out faster. Beer is pretty good. Multiple styles, plus a few non-alcoholic beverage options. The grapefruit juice on tap is really awesome if you want to try a radler. Location can be hard to find. Came here Friday around four for a quick couple of drinks and to check it out! First-I imagine parking will be a problem as we went towards the building and found none (ended up snagging one towards the front of the parking lot as you enter-next to a big karate bus). We walked down to the entrance and the outdoor seating was popping already (despite the relatively high humidity). We went inside and we're surprised how big the inside was (there's even an upstairs); this place was popping! We waited in line (which moved quickly with one employee helping at the computers and one with a handheld). The employee who helped us was incredibly kind/friendly; she explained everything (just like wine bars-only pay per ounce what you pour yourself). I interrupted her to ask about the COVID policy of reusing your glass (this is disgusting in general; but during a pandemic is just rude). She knew immediately who I was discussing (yes you-man in the red shirt). She immediately excused herself and wiped all the pour stations down and then came back to tell us that the man had been wanted multiple times (not sure why you can't just kick them out after repeated breaking of these rules). We quickly grabbed a taster flight and taster glasses and went to work to grab a few to try. We found some seats near the door and sat down to try our brews. My wife found the peanut butter stout surprisingly delicious and I found one of the fruity seltzer's (can't remember the exact makeup) delicious. We went back to grab glasses of each and even got some food from the tater tots truck. This was a fun midday getaway for us; there isn't tons of space and not sure how kid friendly it is; unless your kids manage to stay at your table and self-entertain. (Only mention this as some other places have a "kid area") Would love to see this continue to grow, have ample parking, and keep up the fun merchandise! read more

Bunnyman is a large, lively craft brewery tucked behind an industrial complex (and across from seemingly dense woods, which is bit creepy with the cool Bunnyman theme). There is a wide variety of beer on tap that should keep people with varied tastes happy. My wife and I like darker beers and enjoyed the ones that we tried. This is one of the places where you get a card from the cashier at the front and use the card to pour your own beer in different amounts from the taps along one wall, allowing you to choose how much of each beer you're getting, and with a variety of available glasses in assorted shapes and sizes (from taster sizes to pint glasses in shapes designed to highlight different types of beer). A couple of food trucks were present on the Saturday that we were here, and I think those would be the only food option. This is a large place on two indoor levels (main floor seating and brewing and an upper 'loft'-type area), and plentiful outside seating. The staff members are warm, friendly, and helpful.
