The mama bun is significantly bigger than the baby bun and it's big enough to share with one other person. These cinnamon rolls have the perfect amount of cinnamon flavour and a delicious vegan cheese frosting. This is my number one gluten and dairy free cinnamon roll in the city. JOSEPHINE LOUISE The Josephine Louise is a delicious red velvet cake with a thick frosting in the middle and a chocolate ganache on top. The cake is the perfect texture and it's really rich and moist. You can definitely share this with a friend or loved one. SUPERSONIC COOKIE The supersonic cookie is also really good. It has the perfect amount of sweetness without being too over powering. The cookie is filled with chocolate chips, dried cranberries, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds and flax seeds. It felt almost healthy to eat and I feel like it could be a breakfast cookie for some people on the go but it also works for a dessert too. I really enjoyed this cookie. A couple of their things were just okay, but so far their cakes (have tried a few) have all been good. The fact that everything is gluten free and dairy free is pretty crazy as well. Sure it's somewhat noticeable if you were paying attention to the textures, but the taste is great and I'm sure most people wouldn't pick up on the difference at all. They are a bit pricey but compared to other places for what you're getting, not a crazy amount more or anything. Ok I was slowly giving up on finding a good GF bakery in Toronto then I stumbled upon Bunner's. Let me tell you that I couldn't tell anything was gluten free; I even had my partner try some and he couldn't tell either. I got: Jalapeno cheddar scone: This was soft and fluffy on the inside and had an explosion of jalapeno flavor and spice. I think there's also garlic in it so it's not your usual "mellow" scone. This will kick you in the bum and remind you that spices and flavor do, in fact, exist. Chocolate peppermint cookie: All other GF bakeries have had the most disappointing cookies and the employee looked at me funny when I asked her half heartedly if these cookies were crunchy or chewy (I've been bamboozled before so I wanted to ask before I waste my money!) I'm glad she said chewy so I could buy and enjoy these; the cookies were beautifully chewy and delicious. They didn't have a crunch on the outside like "fresh baked" cookies, but I'm not complaining. The chocolate is rich, warming, and not overwhelming. The mint flavor was a bit too light for my liking, so I do wish they had either more mint or more peppermint, but I do know that some people are sensitive to that mint flavoring. Chocolate chunk: This was exactly what I expect from a chocolate chip cookie. Chewy and satisfying, dough had that "cookie dough" taste and chocolate chunks round out that nostalgic goodness of a good cookie with milk. Had our wedding cake from here. Technically it wasn't a "wedding cake" because those cost an arm and a leg + the pandemic + a micro wedding = a small cake. But it was delicious. We got red velvet and it was the tastiest cake ever, I would 100% get more cakes from bunners. Their frosting is super delicious and whatever flour their use is indistinguishable from gluten flour. Our guests couldn't tell that it was gluten free and we (the just married couple) were the only gluten free people there. We also had cupcakes, those are fantastically delicious as well. Burners used to be amazing!!!! I live in the Junction so I'd go to that location regularly. I'm not a big fan of the Kensington location. I hate putting down a vegan business but the service and quality at that location isn't the greatest. I really miss the Junction location. My only criticism has always been their icing to cupcake ratio. Way too much and too sweet icing for such a small cupcake. But if you're looking for gluten free (which I'm not) and vegan it's definitely a good go-to. read more

When the person helping us found out it was my first time she said "oh this is gonna be life changing" and I could t agree more. I loved the blueberry oat muffin and the Josephine Louise. The muffin was moist and the muffin top was firm, just the way I like them! Bunner's is a small bakery in the middle of Kensington market which I visited on a crisp fall day. It was right before thanksgiving so there were a lot of pumpkin desserts, a plus from the start. I ordered a selection of muffins and their bars and here are the highlights: - pumpkin cheesecake bar: I literally don't know how this was vegan. It was one of the most delicious bars I've tasted, with a strong authentic pumpkin flavor which I loved - date bar: I'm middle eastern and have eaten my fair share of date bars in my life. This came close to being on the top three I've ever tasted, sweet yet not overwhelming and not greasy! - gingerbread carrot muffin: so moist and carroty and the hunt of ginger makes it perfect! I believes Bunner's is a 3.5 more than 4 stars. M surprised me with a Bunner's visit because it's vegan(and gluten free). Everything visually looked so appealing I wanted one of each. We ended up with a large cinnamon bun, a Carmelita square (my favourite), a coconut carrot cupcake and a red velvet cupcake. Honestly the cinnamon bun was so disappointing. It was so dry, that after one single bite I needed a glass of water. I had to space out eating two desserts. I also found it a bit pricey for what it was. Where do I start with this Whoopie pie /JOSEPHINE LOUISE? UGH! It was SO GOOD! First of all, as soon as you walk in the bake shop it smells like pure heaven. Being vegan, I sometimes get carried away when I finally have so many options to choose from. I got a chocolate muffin, a cinnamon roll, a raspberry square (for a friend), and a Josephine Louise (which I know as the most delicious whoopie pie in the world). Everything was delicious, but let's talk about this Josephine Louise: their website describes it as "Two layers of Red Velvet cake sandwich a thick serving of light and fluffy, coconut cream based vanilla frosting - coated with a smooth layer of divine chocolate ganache."It's heaven in your mouth! Well hello there Yelpers! Trotted across the GTA to Kensington market in search for Bunner's bakeshop. We have a vegan nut free bake shop in Mississauga but why not try a different bake shop? The cherry cheesecake is to die for, personally. Unsure what the base was but I honestly tasted coconut milk? Which I don't kind at all cause I like coconut. But for those that don't like coconut, this is not for you. The cheesecake was so dense but creamy once indulged in ones oral cavity. The cherry was also great! Not too sweet and complimented the coconut flavour. I would definitely eat another slice if I'm around the area. I've been eyeing Bunner's bake shop for a while now. They are a good sized bakery in Kensington market that sells vegan and gluten free products. While trying to observe a gluten and dairy reduced diet, I find I'm often disappointed with the texture of gluten free breads and other baked goods which often leave a soggy slimy texture in my mouth. I was optimistic that Bunner's would offer flavourful and texturally appealing products. There is a great selection of breads, cupcakes, squares, brownies and cookies for sale. My eyes were drawn to the brownie as well as the ginger molasses cookies. Upon asking what the best selling product was, I was also compelled to purchase a cinnamon roll. The ginger molasses cookie was soft and had a nice gingery flavour but was too crumbly and lacked the chewiness that I seek out from similar cookies made with wheat flour. The cinnamon roll was visually appealing and not bad texturally but was quite sweet for my liking. Of the 3 items purchased, the brownie was my favourite. The brownie was moist, chewy, chocolatey, and not too sweet. The verdict? I would definitely recommend Bunner's if you're looking for vegan or gluten free baked goods. I wish I had a Bunner's nearby where I live because this is my favourite vegan bakery. It is pretty expensive but for places like this, you are paying for the labour that goes into making the baked goods. I don't really mind paying the extra money for their baked goods since their employees are really nice and I like their stuff. The first time I came here was a couple of years ago and I've sporadically visited this place since. It has changed a lot since I came here and they have added some new stuff. I always come in the evenings so naturally the selection of goods is a bit less but I don't really mind since I always only go for their date bars. They are the best. I wish I had a photo of it but I already ate it all. It's very sweet but it's balanced with the amount of oats they place on top and at its base. I also bought their loaf of white bread, which I have yet to try and am very excited for. This location is very friendly and prefers not to gender their employees and are LGBTQ+ friendly so I am betting you (hopefully) won't have a poor experience here if you visit (not by the employees anyways). In conclusion this is a very good vegan bakery and I will always come back! read more

Visited this cheerful and warm shop with lots of options for the second time. It's great to have a gluten-free bakery but the items are hit and miss. We purchased a couple of items an hour after opening and were surprised that the chocolate peppermint cookie was hard, dry and bitter and a large cinnamon bun that was dense and very dry, with a strangely savory flavor underneath intense cloying sweetness. The date bar was the best thing we had, with a soft filling and sweet crumb topping. The gingerbread cookies were good too, soft, crumbly and very gingery. Last time we had cupcakes that we enjoyed as well. It pays to ask if you're looking for something in particular, because there were several items that hadn't been put out yet, and the staff were happy to grab anything available. You do need to be a bit assertive in the queue, because the staff didn't seem to be paying attention to who was there first and it can be a bit chaotic when it's busy. I do a fair bit of gluten free baking from scratch at home and was disappointed by the texture of some of Bunner's items compared to frozen/mixes let alone freshly made. Most things we had looked gorgeous and mouthwatering but just didn't taste as delicious as I wanted them to. First thing I want to start off by saying I am not vegan. I've been off gluten and dairy for about a week and have been craving desserts like crazy! Altogether it came up to about $30 - which is a little bit steep but I mean anything GF and vegan are pretty pricey anyways right? Regardless, everything was delicious it was definitely worth the price. Everything tasted as it should, if not better! The only thing I didn't like was the savoury pocket. It was really crumbly and fell apart easily. Also, it took forever to heat up. I waited about 15-20 mins to get it. The lady on the counter was super apologetic so no complaints on her part. The cinnamon bun we didn't think was very good. The red velvet cupcake I thought was pretty good for being vegan. My girlfriend loved the square. Price wise: pretty expensive for what you get.
