Mock Tuna sandwich on a croissant
    Olya S.

This coffee type shop has great things to offer. From freshly made croissants with different fillings to breakfast and lunch sandwiches. I love the tuna sandwich and breakfast mushroom burger. The atmosphere is really nice, the decor is classy and the service is great! Highly recommend.

Rating: 4.2 I wanted to try a vegan birthday cake this year and to my surprise there were not many options in the gta. Luckily I found VDB through Yelp and after going through their reviews I decided to give this place a shot. I usually go for cakes from Asian bakeries for a lighter, subtly sweet flavour so we did request for less sugar here and I'm glad they were able to accommodate. I ordered the strawberry shortcake and honestly was impressed with how it turned out. I try to bake vegan desserts myself and always struggle with the creams and icings which they seemed to have nailed down. The cake was pretty dense as I expected from western desserts and unfortunately still quite sweet for me. But the strawberries tasted fresh and the almond coating was delicious, overall a good cake. I will be back for more goodies!

Drove past it at first because it didn't look like much. But after not finding anything better nearby, decided to try this place out, especially since it was vegan. I absolutely do not regret it. As soon as I walked in, I felt comfortable and the building felt homey and welcoming. I got the pizza roll, the raspberry danish, and a cappuccino on soy milk. The pizza roll was very flavorful and the dough was soft and slightly sweet. I really enjoyed it! The raspberry danish was perfectly crispy and the perfect sweetness and fruitiness! I loved it!! The cappuccino was enjoyable as well. Would probably try it on oat milk next time. I hope they come up with an even bigger variety of goods! Definitely a must visit vegan place! +There is also a selection of packaged vegan foods that you can purchase to cook on your own!

This is one of my new favourite places!! I've been wanting to try this place for so long and I finally had a chance as I was close by. I wanted a gf cake but they could not have one ready until 5pm on the day that I called. They did have gf cupcakes and cookies though. I bought 4 chocolate gf cupcakes and 4 vanilla gf cupcakes in each of the frosting flavours to take to a friend's back yard visit. I had the vanilla with lemon frosting and the chocolate with vanilla icing. Both were amazing! Soft and chewy (not crumbly) and the frosting was delicious. I was so tempted by their sundaes that I had the salted caramel cashew pecan sundae. It was SO GOOD! I haven't had vegan ice cream that good in so long...it reminded me of pralines and cream ice cream from my dairy eating days. The caramel sauce was perfection...a nice gooey consistency and it actually tasted like caramel! (Unlike attempts at other vegan places). They sell other vegan items for lunch, snacks and to take home. I bought a pack of the Mykonos butter to try. I wanted their vegan lasagne but did not get it as it wasn't gf. I will definitely order a gf cake ahead of time in future as they look awesome!

A perfect spot to enjoy the sun - and some delicious baked goods! - on a sunny Saturday afternoon! A friend took me to this bakery after telling me about their vegan treats about a million times. The bakery was everything he'd claimed and more. They have all kinds of vegan pastries and treats, many which are also gluten-free, and they have a number of unique vegan groceries as well: snacks, vegan eggs, ravioli, etc. I got a lemon cheese cake (vegan and gluten-free!), a butter tart (also vegan and gluten-free!!) and stocked up on some exciting vegan gluten-free snacks. Yes please, vegan jerky! We couldn't stay but I noticed that the interior was super cute, comfortable, lively but not loud, and bathed in afternoon sunshine. Exactly what I dream of on a lazy weekend afternoon. I will definitely come back!

I always drive by this place so I decided to check them out today. I ordered two cupcakes to go, chocolate and mocha. Both frostings are creamy and sweet. Tastes so delicious. Store itself is cozy. Few chairs available if you would like to dine in. Friendly service. Parking is in the back. Overall this is a cozy bakery that sells vegan cakes and cupcakes. Sweet and delicious. Worth checking out.

Omg Stopped here on a whim and it was the best decision ever. There is parking on the back side of the bakery (it's easy to miss). All their desserts looked amazing I literally wanted to try one of everything (I don't even have a sweet tooth)! Marshall and I ended up picking the blueberry cheesecake (amazzzzzzzing), a pumpkin pecan muffin (also amazzzzzing) and some sort of liquor-cake pop (wasn't my favourite). I would recommend this place to vegans and non vegans as Marshall also enjoyed this bakery! Can't wait to come back for brunch!

Pate sandwich, tuna salad sandwich, pea soup

ALL VEGAN CAFE/BAKERY!' This a cute and niche little place and definitely worth a visit as a vegan (and non vegan too!!). Super lovely service and very attentive and helpful. A little pricier for the food but I would say quality and the concepts are worth your money. I enjoyed the food though! The food we ordered had interesting (but good!) Pate sandwich wasn't our favourite, but the tuna sandwich was very much like a 'filet o fish' kind of flavour and had a soft fish texture and nice flavours. Pea soup was yummy! DESSERTS ON THE OTHER HAND ARE ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS!! Although black forest for me was more like a mud cake with cream and jam layers, it was still delicious. The apple pie was so buttery and soft, so good!! Cupcake was a little too salted for us, but still airy and light. Coffee was nice and strong with our americanos and paired well with our desserts :) Decor is sweet and very cosy, and quite lavish too! They also sell a variety of vegan snacks and foods to take home which is spot on and so convenient!!

Stopped here spontaneously with Iriana! It's dangerous having something so good so close to us Haha. This place totally surprised me by how good it was. All the desserts have been amazing. I'd love to come here for brunch though sometime. The inside feels very elegant and is always jam packed with people. Note: for tall individuals, watch for low hanging lamps. Try this place, even if you aren't vegan. It's hard to even tell the difference!

When my "meat loving will eat anything" yelp friend wants to take to try out some Vegan delight at Vegan Danish Bakery, I was more than surprise. I wondering if he started seeing the light.... Vegan Danish?! I will skip the Apple Almond Danish ($3.99)... as without the generous use of butter... the danish itself was so doughy, chewy..I might as well eat a loaf of bread. Bring on the BUTTER and be FAT and HAPPY! Black Forest Chocolate Cake ($6.99) was surprisingly good. It is almost like eating the REAL thing.. The Vegan cream frosting was creamy and heavy went well with the dense chocolaty brownie tasting cake. My Yelp friend was happy... you know is not easy to make him happy... I just happy that I can share a piece of cake with someone as I realize this Vegan Black Forest Cake is not calories or fat free..........

    Chocolate soft-serve ice cream

I have been to this bakery a handful of times, long before I was on Yelp. The storefront faces Yonge Street. However, the parking lot is shared between the bakery and the costume store next door. If you do park in the lot at the back of both stores, you can cut through the costume store and get to the bakery that way. You get to peruse the various costumes that are displayed as you work put an appetite. I like vegan bakeries, mainly because I don't have to guess whether I can handle the amount of dairy in the desserts or if I'll be okay, as I am borderline lactose-intolerant. The first time I was there, I got a butter tart and a chocolate cupcake. They were both sweet. I expected that with the butter tart, which was yummy. However, there was too much sugar in the chocolate cake for my liking. Since then, I have taken my good friend, who is vegan, to this bakery whenever we hang out. We went during the summer when soft-serve ice cream was available. The ice cream is made with coconut milk. We both had the chocolate. It is so good. It is a must! There is typically one person manning the bakery. Everyone I have dealt with is helpful and friendly. (58)

And if it's a place in the middle of somewhere random, with no seating and looks like a factory, there must be something about this place. And I was very right. Bartholomew feels like a hidden gem with it's location and outlook, but inside are some of the best, or dareisay, the actual best pastries in the GTA. So much to choose from and so many options, you'll probably leave with boxes full like many of the others here. Be prepared to take out another mortgage with the amount you'll spend here. But it's so worth it. Buttery flaky goodness in literally every bite. I had the almond croissant and the chocolate cherry pastry and oh my gosh, their flavours are SO right. It's so fresh that it almost doesn't feel like I'm cheating. I'll be coming here again and again and again. Also, I reached out to the owners who confirmed that all of their pastries which don't have alcohol or meat items are otherwise fully halal, even down to the gel they use in some of the pastries! We love an inclusive bakery.

It is a LONG wait if you come to purchase in person (aka not a pickup order). HIGHLY RECOMMEND pickup option. We waited 45-60 mins on a rainy day. It is super popular! Some items were sold out due to popularity, but honestly not worth the hype. It is good pastries and a bit more unique due to their flavor combinations, but the execution feels rushed and dry. We had their croissants, which should be freshly made, but somehow it was dry, stale, and the only thing saving it was the filling. Not sure what happened as I've heard good things about it. Very much a swing and a miss. If we try it again, will definitely try to order for a pickup. Their sandwiches were much better, but there is standing room only in the cafe so its a pickup and go place. It is in an industrial location, so driving and parking is out of the way. For the location, it probably is the better option around (aka Vaughan), but either a bit west or east, there are better options without the long wait times. Try it at least once though, and try at least one of every item, you might find something you like, for me, it was their sandwiches, even though I was there for their pastries.

Last Saturday, I was in my car, parked steps away from Zoup! I had placed a dinner order. I looked across the plaza and noticed Paris Baguette (PB). I had visited COBS Bread a couple of hours earlier. Did I need another bakery visit? Yes! I had some time to kill before picking up my dinner. It was raining. I drove over to PB and parked relatively close to the store. I walked in. I felt like I was in heaven. Carb heaven. Where should I start? I got a tray. There were instructions to grab a small piece of paper and lay it on the tray. I got tongs and went to work. I saw palmiers. My mom loves them. I grabbed one with my tongs and broke off a curved section. It was probably a first for me. I ate the broken part and placed the imperfect palmier on my tray. The broken piece was yummy and was perfection. I finally understood why my mom loves palmiers. I hit the croissant section. I got a pain au chocolat, which is probably my favourite type of croissant. I also got a chocolate croissant. A nice, older woman started chatting with me. She was so sweet. She let me know that she frequents this bakery often and loves it. I asked her what items she hasn't had. It was two items, which floored me. She noticed the chausson aux pommes that I had on my tray and said that it was yummy. I got the following items: - Chausson aux pommes - Chocolate croissant - Pineapple brûlée pastry - Palmier - Pastel de nata - Pain au chocolat - Curry croquette The nice woman let me know that Mia, who was the staffer behind the counter, let her know that this bakery has Korean owners. Really? It made sense seeing mochi donuts. We both hit the checkout counter. Mia got her order and said to grab a seat. She'd bring everything to her. This nice woman said that she was shy of being 90 years old. What?! She looked great! I wouldn't have guessed that I was talking to an 89-year-old woman during my entire time here. I hope that when I am her age, I am savouring pastry as often as my new friend. Mia was great. She put all my pastries in a box. She singled out my savoury curry croquette in a paper bag. I paid with a credit card. I tapped and was good. I got my receipt, thanked her, grabbed my goodies, wished my new friend a wonderful day, and left. There was a Wild game that night. I had a pastry each period. Three pastries in three hours. They were delicious! I will say that the ones with fresh fruit were the most expensive, just over $6. They were worth it. The chausson aux pommes had the best apple filling. It was flaky and delicious. I absolutely devoured the pineapple brûlée pastry. The pineapple chunks were set in custard and were so naturally sweet. This pastry was superb. The pain au chocolat continues to be my favourite croissant. It was flaky and had the best chocolate in every bite. So good! I had the chocolate croissant and loved it. It was fresh, flaky, and soft. The chocolate drizzle had the right amount of chocolate with the buttery croissant. I was extremely happy with my pastel de nata. The custard had a hint of sweetness. The base of flaky. It could have been torched on top more, but I'd get half a dozen next time. I didn't know what to expect with the curry croquette. It was delicious. It had a crispy exterior, crusted with a mix of white and black sesame seeds. The curry filling was full of good flavour. It had veggies in it. The corn and carrot combination worked nicely. I raved about this place to my friend at work today. There's one at Heartland in Mississauga, which is perfect for us to do a run after work. I had an excellent experience. It was nice meeting a passionate pastry lover while getting her take on what she loves. Everything that I consumed was excellent. I hope to get a drink next time and perhaps sit down to enjoy it. I'll be back. (117)

What presents itself modestly as a neighbourhood Italian bakery reveals, upon closer acquaintance, something altogether more intriguing: a transatlantic pastry dialogue between the Old World and South America, shaped by the hands of a Uruguayan chef who brings both traditions to bear with quiet confidence. The cannoli are, without equivocation, the crown jewel of this establishment. Piped to order, the filling achieves a textural ideal -- sweetly yielding, impeccably creamy, and notably free of the aggressive lemon notes that so often overwhelm lesser versions. The shell delivers a satisfying, delicate crunch, its restraint allowing the ricotta cream to assert itself as the undisputed protagonist. These are cannoli that would draw admiration well beyond the borders of Woodbridge. One ought not to overlook the sfogliatelle, rendered here in golden, shattering layers, nor the cherry-filled donuts -- generously proportioned, freshly made, and possessed of a quality that lingers in memory long after the visit. The facturas, custard-filled and dusted with care, speak fluently to the South American soul of the kitchen, while the empanadas offer a savoury counterpoint of notable finesse. The space itself is intimate to the point of cosiness -- a handful of seats, a tall central table, and a glass case brimming with the day's offerings. The pace is unhurried, the atmosphere warmly domestic. Tony, the proprietor, greets each guest with a hospitality that feels entirely genuine -- the kind of welcome that transforms a transaction into something closer to a visit with an old friend. If one were to offer a gentle note, it might be that the sheer breadth of the offering -- Italian classics alongside Uruguayan specialties and homemade ravioli -- occasionally tests the boundaries of the compact space. Yet this abundance, curated with evident passion, is ultimately more virtue than flaw. La Strada is a bakery for those who understand that the finest pleasures are often found where one least expects them.

Rather than having businesses throw out food and have it go to waste at the end of the day, they sell it at reduced prices through the app. I decided to expand my search radius, which has been wonderful. I found Bravo Baklava and Bagels. I bought a surprise bag for $6. My pickup time was between noon and 7 pm yesterday. I took my time getting there on a Saturday, eventually arriving well before 2 pm. Bravo is in a plaza with a bunch of other stores, diagonally across from Canada's Wonderland. I found a parking spot and backed into it. I didn't do any research about Bravo before I headed over. I was delighted to see a sign saying that it's a Turkish bakery. I was in Istanbul several years ago. I absolutely loved hitting bakeries. I walked through the door and saw a fridge with fizzy drinks. I have not seen them since I was in Istanbul. It threw me back and I was incredibly happy. A lovely woman behind the counter said hi. I reciprocated. I looked at all the baklava in the display case. Wow! I was mesmerized. I let her know that it felt like being back in Istanbul. It felt so comfortable. I then indicated that I had a Too Good to Go order. I showed her my code and she started packing stuff for me. I liked that she described what I was getting. I was shocked at how much she was giving me. She showed me a generous slice of mango cake. She gave me two containers. She also gave me two bags of simits, which are Turkish bagels. These ones were huge and fully covered in sesame seeds. Each bag had four simits. I was so shocked to get so much food. She indicated that I should freeze the simits and take one out whenever I wanted one. She was so helpful. I looked at the puddings and desserts. I couldn't take my eyes off a baked good with a honey glaze, with some sesame seeds on it. She was so kind to put one in a bag and give it to me. It was such a kind gesture. She was so generous. I thanked her for everything and wished her a great day. I walked out and put everything in my car before I drove off. I ate the honey-glazed baked good in the car. It was so fresh. It had a touch of sweetness. It was chewy and still warm. I loved the sesame seeds on top. I ate it plain, but I'm sure that it would be yummy with a spread of your choice. I had one of the mango cakes for dessert last night. The cake was moist and yummy. The mango puree on top wasn't overly sugary. It tasted like ripe, fresh mangoes. This morning, I had a simit for breakfast with a couple of fried eggs. There is something enjoyable breaking up a simit and dipping it into runny egg yolks. Delicious! Each simit is generously covered in sesame seeds. It's chewy and so perfect. I love bagels, but simits are special. I remember having one every day while in Istanbul, thanks to the lounge area that offered them any time of day. I'm so glad that I can get my fix here and be transported back to Turkey. Bravo makes authentic simits and I am thrilled to have seven more to enjoy before I head back there for more. It was such an unexpected, cool find. I will go back and get a carbonated imported drink from Turkey, along with some baklava next time. This place also has Turkish delight. It was another weakness that I had developed while in Istanbul. Bravo is so deadly, but so good for Turkish pastries and desserts. (126)
