Super sweet people here, efficient and really want to be helpful. They are definitely not phoning it in. I went in looking for a pair of polarized wrap-around sunglasses, which sounds like it would be an easy enough, slam dunk kinda deal. But I need an extra small, almost a children's frame and ultimately we couldn't find a pair. But I was very impressed with their helping nature and attentive presence throughout the process. Very neat, clean attractive shop in the middle of the city, conveniently located with plenty of parking meters around, and if you're lucky, you can snag a free spot on the street. read more

I have been getting my glasses here for many years. I love supporting a small business in my own community and they certainly warrant support. Jerry was terrific. Knowledgeable, professional, patient and kind. Jose is equally so. They have a great selection of excellent value and designer frames. I highly recommend Bundy opticians! read more

I get my annual pair of prescriptions glasses at bundy's every year! The service is amazing and they are kind and attentive to all my needs!

I had a pair of Maui Jim's that needed adjusting, somehow my frame got bent and I had another pair with a nose cushion missing. I went to the Maui Jim site and Bundy was a listed authorized place to have it repaired. I walked in not long after they opened and told them what happened. They were so nice, they took a look at my sunglasses and made the adjustment and it fits great. As for the other pair, they weren't able to replace the missing nose cushion, the piece for my sunglasses was discontinued and no longer available. Nonetheless, I left happy with my repaired. Maui Jim's. I definitely recommend them for your optical needs and if you have Maui Jim's that need repair work. read more

I went into Bundy Opticians to get a nose pad replaced yesterday and Gerry Bundy came to greet me. Jose was with another customer. Gerry graciously took my glasses and within minutes came back with new nose pads attached to my glasses. Chatting with Gerry we learned that he is retiring at the end of this year. I have worked in customer service for years at the airport and like you have dealt with a variety of customer service agents both in person and on the phone all too often with bad experiences. When you walk into Bundy Opticians, you consistently receive the very epitome of top customer service. I mean 5 star plus! We will miss Gerry and wish him well. Jose provides the same type of high end customer service and recommend Bundy to all. read more

I really want to give a Shout Out to the greatest experience I received from Jose at Bundy's Opticians in San Mateo California! I have been a long time customer for many years! My husband wanted me to try another Optician on his insurance coverage!! I actually tried two!! I was so disappointed and discouraged after getting such poor customer service and low quality glasses! The selection to choose from was so limited! After having a pair made by each of them I struggled to see clearly for nearly 2 years! I finally said I am going back to Jose who owns Bundy's and was so excited to be welcomed back ! I found the greatest pair of glasses, and decided I also wanted to get a new pair of sunglasses too!! He really knows me and knows what I like! I was so happy and pleased with how quickly he was able to get my new glasses! Absolutely perfect! No issues!! So HAPPY I can see! Thank you so much Jose! Sincerely, Victoria G. read more

The best neighborhood optician! I needed a quick fix on a pair of glasses and they were able to do it right then and there. Jose was so friendly and knowledgeable. And what a great location. You can get a bite to eat around the area while you wait for your glasses! read more

First time coming here today to get my glasses fixed and OMG! I can't wait to come back here. They were very welcoming & helpful.

Gerry Bundy is very helpful. I live in San Francisco and just happened to be in the area one morning. I usually buy frames from my optometrist in SF, but their selection this year was really lacking, or perhaps I'm just too picky. Either way, I thought I would just stop in and take a look. I told Gerry what I was looking for, and we walked around his display area. I found the perfect frames! He also had a slim selection of the style I was looking for (big, 70s) but at least he had something. He does all the lens work in-house meaning they can also make lenses to fit vintage frames which I am really stoked about because I really don't like the standard types of frames (small, square) that are popular now. read more

New to Bundy, so just know Jose's courteous and skilled service in store, and the quality of, and quick turnaround for me to get, new lenses, from lab he is using. All A+. I have utilized another place for many years, but this was now the right choice for me. As everyone says and knows, it depends what you are looking for, but it all certainly starts and ends with service and courtesy and availability in store. read more

Jose was so kind to fix my glasses quickly and for free and give me advice on prescription snow goggles. I'm excited to return back and order my new pair of glasses from this kind family business! read more

First class !! Great selection of fine eyewear ! Has hard to find and exclusive products ! Mr. Bundy and staff give the best customer service ! I have bought two pieces of high end eyewear and have been completely satisfied. They really go above and beyond and make sure your taken care. Mr. Bundy used his contacts to order an very specific piece for me and I have been completely blown away by the professionalism. He has even opened up for private appointments! I highly recommend! read more

I was looking for a quick repair on a bent-up pair of prescription sunglasses, would gladly have paid for it. Mr. Bundy worked his magic on them in 5 minutes flat, and wouldn't take a dime for it. Such great customer service. They actually sell that frame/lens combo there, will go see them my next pair! read more

I called to request if I could get a courtesy measurement of my PD (Pupilary Distance). I was told, unequivocally, "NO". That sucks! Most opticians will do things like clean glasses, do PD measurings, etcetera. Don't need my business that's for sure! read more

I stoped by in the store with two glasses missing screws. Mrs. Lora, fixed them both in a blink of an eye free of charge! I think, that's all you need as a customer, generosity and professionalism. read more

I bought some extremely expensive glasses from a high-end optician in San Francisco over two years ago, and my eyes always hurt while using them. I took them back to that optician twice and was told each time that there weren't any problems. I finally went to Bundy Opticians, who had made glasses for me many years ago, and asked them if they could look at the situation. It turns out that the glasses were the wrong prescription and were also mounted incorrectly! I had Bundy Opticians use the same frames for a slightly different prescription (extremely minimal change), and they said that because of the complexity of the frame they'd have to send it out to a specialty factory. They called a week later to say that the glasses had arrived, but they were incorrect, so they were having them remade. (A kind of quality control that the fancy San Francisco optician clearly didn't have.) When I got the glasses a week afterwards, they were great! NO problems at all! I should have gone to Bundy's in the first place. read more

What a wonderful business, helping to support the community, even in the midst of Covid-19! I stepped on my glasses and really did a number on the temples and needed them fixed asap for work. They were able to fix them within 15 minutes and they did not charge me anything at all. I will definitely be back and hope that others in San Mateo give them their business because they are highly professional, quick, skilled and their inventory of frames looked great. Appreciate you and your staff Mr. Bundy, thank you. read more

Don't be too put off by the old-school look -- these guys have a totally legit selection of frames. (Disclaimer: I'm a 40yo guy, what would I know about legit frames?) I've yet to use their services myself (got PRK a while back -- though presbyopia is surely around the corner!) but came in with a friend who was visiting and had broken her glasses. She got excellent service; they'd never seen her hexomino brand frames before, but they fixed it right up. It's the type of, well, old-school place you don't see much any more, they're obviously into their craftsmanship and attention to detail. read more

About a year ago I bought some cool readers online, but they came installed with +1.5 lenses with +1 lenses included. I needed to get the lenses switched out so I dropped by Bundy Opticians. In less than 10 minutes, they switched out the lenses, and when I asked how much I owed for the service I was told it was on the house! That was so nice, I still can't believe it. Fast forward to last week. I had a lens fall out of my really nice pair of Ray-ban sunglasses (little screw came loose), so I headed over to Bundy. SAME EXPERIENCE! I would happily pay for such quick and excellent service, Bundy really treats their customers well. The store itself is large and well lit. They have a huge selection of frames, and they also carry specialty items like prescription swim goggles. Street parking is easy and it is conveniently located in downtown San Mateo. read more

Wow! Even Nordstrom could learn a tip here and there from Gerry Bundy. I came in directly from ANOTHER optometrist's office that had not take responsibility for damaging (bent in multiple areas) my very expensive reading glasses. I had already signed a form saying they would not be financially responsible, so I was wide-eyed when they refused to say, "I'm sorry, we should have done better." The woman that gave me the glasses proceeded to twist them forcefully back in shape without heating them. No luck - and well, my gasps and near tears command to "stop" finally made an impression - and she handed me the glasses. I left while still calmly communicating. Thankfully, my entrance to Bundy Opticians was greeted with kindness and professionalism. My glasses, while expensive, are from the 90s. The metal castings are stronger, but the downside, is that manipulating the metal can put stress on the hinges and bridge. After I was aprised of the challenges, I accepted responsibility for my request. And, tada... all fixed. Perfect. Masterful. read more

I went here today, and it was actually first on a list of places I was going to shop around for new lenses for my glasses. It was the last stop. I was greeted by Jose who did not bat an eyelash when I brought frames in from another place..gave me the best and worst case financial scenario up front, and was super cool. This place is very cozy- sit down and get your lenses all mapped out- no hoopla. I recommend this place for all your eyesight needs. read more

A big shout out to Bundy Optical! Fabulous service. I was told by a large retail outlet, where I got my glasses, that the broken temple was not fixable and that I would have to buy a new pair of glasses. Mr Bundy said he could fix it, and he did; he did it for free! saved me hundreds of dollars. I told him I would return the favor the next time I need new glasses. read more

Unfortunately my eyes were getting so bad I walked around with beer goggles..... without the beer! A buddy of mine recommended this place, so I decided to pay Bundy Opticians a visit. I have no regrets... and have upgraded to High Definition Vision. Upon my visit I was helped by the owner... Gerry Bundy himself. He was able to provide me with really cool prescription eye glasses at a reasonable price, alongside first class customer service. If you are looking for good prices, high quality eyeglasses, and mom and pop customer service.... check this spot out. read more

This place is a terrific low-key independent optician. If you're tired of the impersonal service and constant upselling you get from chain optical services, or the attitude you get from the super hipster spots, you'll love it here. Also they do a really good job with the lenses -- I swear I can see better than I could before. They even fixed my hexomino frames for free! read more

I have been coming to Bundy's for more than ten years. Started with a quick nose pad replacement. The customer service was so sincere and professional I changed opticians. I now have my regular progressives as well as my sunglasses and computer glasses made here. The experience is always uplifting. Whenever I have had any discomfort or difficulty they have worked on it until I was satisfied. The work is 100% guaranteed. Class and quality: why go anywhere else. read more

Bundy's is the very best place to buy your eye glasses. Their customer service is unbeatable. They take the time to help you get the right pair of glasses, to properly fit them, to make whatever adjustments are needed. Gerry was helpful, patient, and incredibly knowledgeable when I took the leap and got progressive lenses. Not an easy transition, I might add! Without his assistance throughout the process, I don't think my glasses would have worked out well for me. I say this partly because a friend bought a pair of frames somewhere else. Her frames didn't even allow enough lense height to accommodate the minimum height you need for a progressive lense. Yikes, what a waste of her money. Gerry helped me find fantastic frames at a more affordable price, nstead of buying the expensive Gucci's that I wanted to buy. No regrets, the Danish frames I bought are really nice. Years ago, before I bought prescription glasses, I bought a pair of readers from them. They were high quality OTC glasses, but more importantly they fit me perfectly, unlike the pair I bought for the same price at a high end department store. Even longer ago, they would tighten my sunglasses whenever I needed it, at no charge. Another positive point: They referred me to an excellent optometrist, Dr. Mah, in Burlingame. I make the trip across the bridge from the East Bay to get glasses and adjustments here. Gerry's top notch service and quality are well worth it! read more

Very helpful and very prompt service. Got my Oakley's fixed there in no time!

I have been a customer and purchasing my non-prescription sunglasses from Bundy Opticians for over 20 years. They have a wide array of designers sunglasses to choose from in all of the latest styles. I am never disappointed. Gerry, Jose, and Michelle have what it takes to provide oustanding, quality service--a very welcoming and personal experience every time I make a visit. read more

I'm not a customer but I had a glasses emergency. Jose fixed my glasses for no charge and was very nice. Thanks Jose and Bundy Opticians.

I originally called the store and spoke with Gerry asking about frames. I got the impression he knew exactly what he was talking about so I decided to visit the store. When I arrived, Gerry was behind the counter and came out to greet me. He was extremely courteous and gave me enough distance to try frames without feeling hounded. I like that he was attentive and present enough to know when to ask if I needed help. It felt like my presence there was of importance to him. I asked him a few questions about glasses (this was my first pair) and he had a wealth of information about color, lighting, and frame shapes that fit different facial types. In my search for frames, I visited 5 stores on the peninsula (mostly in Redwood City) and this place was by FAR the best. Most (if not all) of their work is done in-house and I can tell there is a tremendous amount of pride in their product. Thanks Gerry! read more
