But I need an extra small, almost a children's frame and ultimately we couldn't find a pair. But I was very impressed with their helping nature and attentive presence throughout the process. I had a pair of Maui Jim's that needed adjusting, somehow my frame got bent and I had another pair with a nose cushion missing. I went to the Maui Jim site and Bundy was a listed authorized place to have it repaired. I walked in not long after they opened and told them what happened. They were so nice, they took a look at my sunglasses and made the adjustment and it fits great. As for the other pair, they weren't able to replace the missing nose cushion, the piece for my sunglasses was discontinued and no longer available. Nonetheless, I left happy with my repaired. Gerry Bundy is very helpful. I live in San Francisco and just happened to be in the area one morning. I usually buy frames from my optometrist in SF, but their selection this year was really lacking, or perhaps I'm just too picky. Either way, I thought I would just stop in and take a look. I told Gerry what I was looking for, and we walked around his display area. I found the perfect frames! He also had a slim selection of the style I was looking for (big, 70s) but at least he had something. He does all the lens work in-house meaning they can also make lenses to fit vintage frames which I am really stoked about because I really don't like the standard types of frames (small, square) that are popular now. read more

I called to request if I could get a courtesy measurement of my PD (Pupilary Distance). I was told, unequivocally, "NO". That sucks! Most opticians will do things like clean glasses, do PD measurings, etcetera. Don't need my business that's for sure! read more

I bought some extremely expensive glasses from a high-end optician in San Francisco over two years ago, and my eyes always hurt while using them. I took them back to that optician twice and was told each time that there weren't any problems. I finally went to Bundy Opticians, who had made glasses for me many years ago, and asked them if they could look at the situation. It turns out that the glasses were the wrong prescription and were also mounted incorrectly! I had Bundy Opticians use the same frames for a slightly different prescription (extremely minimal change), and they said that because of the complexity of the frame they'd have to send it out to a specialty factory. They called a week later to say that the glasses had arrived, but they were incorrect, so they were having them remade. (A kind of quality control that the fancy San Francisco optician clearly didn't have.) When I got the glasses a week afterwards, they were great! NO problems at all! I should have gone to Bundy's in the first place. read more

Don't be too put off by the old-school look -- these guys have a totally legit selection of frames. (Disclaimer: I'm a 40yo guy, what would I know about legit frames?) I've yet to use their services myself (got PRK a while back -- though presbyopia is surely around the corner!) but came in with a friend who was visiting and had broken her glasses. She got excellent service; they'd never seen her hexomino brand frames before, but they fixed it right up. About a year ago I bought some cool readers online, but they came installed with +1.5 lenses with +1 lenses included. I needed to get the lenses switched out so I dropped by Bundy Opticians. In less than 10 minutes, they switched out the lenses, and when I asked how much I owed for the service I was told it was on the house! That was so nice, I still can't believe it. Fast forward to last week. I had a lens fall out of my really nice pair of Ray-ban sunglasses (little screw came loose), so I headed over to Bundy. SAME EXPERIENCE! I would happily pay for such quick and excellent service, Bundy really treats their customers well. The store itself is large and well lit. Wow! Even Nordstrom could learn a tip here and there from Gerry Bundy. I came in directly from ANOTHER optometrist's office that had not take responsibility for damaging (bent in multiple areas) my very expensive reading glasses. I had already signed a form saying they would not be financially responsible, so I was wide-eyed when they refused to say, "I'm sorry, we should have done better." The woman that gave me the glasses proceeded to twist them forcefully back in shape without heating them. No luck - and well, my gasps and near tears command to "stop" finally made an impression - and she handed me the glasses. I left while still calmly communicating. Thankfully, my entrance to Bundy Opticians was greeted with kindness and professionalism. My glasses, while expensive, are from the 90s. The metal castings are stronger, but the downside, is that manipulating the metal can put stress on the hinges and bridge. After I was aprised of the challenges, I accepted responsibility for my request. And, tada... all fixed. Perfect. Masterful. read more

Bundy's is the very best place to buy your eye glasses. Their customer service is unbeatable. They take the time to help you get the right pair of glasses, to properly fit them, to make whatever adjustments are needed. Gerry was helpful, patient, and incredibly knowledgeable when I took the leap and got progressive lenses. Not an easy transition, I might add! Without his assistance throughout the process, I don't think my glasses would have worked out well for me. I say this partly because a friend bought a pair of frames somewhere else. Her frames didn't even allow enough lense height to accommodate the minimum height you need for a progressive lense. Yikes, what a waste of her money. Gerry helped me find fantastic frames at a more affordable price, nstead of buying the expensive Gucci's that I wanted to buy. No regrets, the Danish frames I bought are really nice. Years ago, before I bought prescription glasses, I bought a pair of readers from them. They were high quality OTC glasses, but more importantly they fit me perfectly, unlike the pair I bought for the same price at a high end department store. Even longer ago, they would tighten my sunglasses whenever I needed it, at no charge. Another positive point: They referred me to an excellent optometrist, Dr. Mah, in Burlingame. I originally called the store and spoke with Gerry asking about frames. I got the impression he knew exactly what he was talking about so I decided to visit the store. When I arrived, Gerry was behind the counter and came out to greet me. He was extremely courteous and gave me enough distance to try frames without feeling hounded. I like that he was attentive and present enough to know when to ask if I needed help. It felt like my presence there was of importance to him. I asked him a few questions about glasses (this was my first pair) and he had a wealth of information about color, lighting, and frame shapes that fit different facial types. In my search for frames, I visited 5 stores on the peninsula (mostly in Redwood City) and this place was by FAR the best.
