Everything. From the time we went in and was given the paperwork. She assisted me with a prescription that I was given by another Optometrist in Redwood City, ( terrible experience). She custom fit a pair of safety glasses for me to use while i would be welding. I still have to wait 2-3 weeks but that is not on her. The exam was very precise and done twice because it did not matchup with what I received recently mentioned above. She even made sure the distance was adequate (meaning she cared) I will be reposting I received my new safety glasses but love what I have experienced so far, thanks Dr Yap read more

This review has been a long time coming. My husband and I have been going to Dr. Yap for over 6 years and she is absolutely terrific. She is personable, and seems to really want to help her patients. We never feel rushed with her, her exams and efforts seem thorough, and she takes the time to answer all questions. We've been lucky to find her! read more

Dr. Yap is very knowledgeable and has good bedside manner. She was able to diagnose my scratchy eye problem that 2 other doctors couldn't. I feel she communicates well and cares about her patients. I would definitely recommend Dr. Yap read more

Had to come in and get some safety glasses. Was greeted with friendly hello and very smooth getting frames and ordering the lenses. She was great. Thank you Modern eyes for an excellent customer experience read more

I have been seeing Dr. Yap for years. She's incredibly professional and kind. I always feel like Dr. Yap is involving me in my decisions over my eye health - and that of my daughter - that results in each of us getting the best care for our situation. read more

The glasses prescription was spot on. My previous prescription was giving me trouble and Dr Yap went out of her way to analyze 3 years of my prescriptions from prior eye clinics and figured out the problem. Have recommended several friends now as I am confident of not only getting accurate readings but great service and collection of glasses as well. read more

Dr. Yap is amazing! She is the first doctor that ever got my prescription correct the first time without giving me a headache. She is patient, helpful, and knowledgeable. I've never been to an eye doctor that check my blood pressure. This was new to me. I am glad! She is caring! Make an appointment with her and she will take care of the rest! Thank you Dr. ! She accept insurance as well! I would recommend my family and friends or to anyone seeking for an eye exam! read more

Dr. Yap is very professional and kind. She takes great care of my eyes. Excellent experience.

Dr. Yap is the most COMPETENT eye doctor I've seen. I have been to so many optometrists in the Bay Area over the years, to try to get SOFT Contact Lenses. No one was able to get me the right contact lenses fitting. I have very strong astigmatism (but low prescription), which makes it super hard to fit soft contact lenses as they move a lot and would make my vision blurry. I really wanted to be able to wear contact lenses so that I can exercise without my glasses sliding down my face when sweating. Dr. Yap figured it out. I contacted all of my past optometrists and asked them to send her ALL of my files, and all of the notes that were taken, all of the products that were tried, and failed. Like a true scientist, and detective, Dr. Yap studied them all in her own time, and figured out the issue. With just 2 contact lenses sittings/trials, she was able to find the perfect custom built contact lenses for me! With previous optometrists, I had gone through over 5-7 trials (trying for weeks, and waiting for new set to arrive, etc) only to no satisfying results. I am so thankful to have found Dr. Yap (she came highly recommended from a Nextdoor posting, when I was looking for a doctor who can solve a difficult contact lenses case). I wish I had found Dr. Yap, 20 years ago.... I would have probably been more fit today, if I was able to practice more sports! read more

Fantastic place to get your eye checks!!!! Dr. Yap is very attentive and caring when dealing with her patients. I had a troubling, complicated stye which was so stubborn it wouldn't go away for 3 weeks. Dr. Yap took deligent notes, explained my symptoms in lame terms and what to expect during the treatment/recovery phase. Most of all, she took the extra effort to schedule me in rushly because of my dire complaints about the stye and guided mt next steps. So, thank you! She is efficient, competent and patient with my questions. You can tell she enjoys her occupation and cares for her patients deeply. I highly recommend her practice, you won't regret it! read more

Apparently giving my full insurance information 4 days prior to my appointment was not advance enough for them. They canceled my appointment anyway which was made month ago. read more

Dr Yap was the first doctor to figure out that I was using my eyes independently--my left eye for reading, my right eye for distance. NO OTHER OPTOMETRIST FIGURED THIS OUT IN MY LIFE! No wonder I was having such trouble getting a good fit. I would always go in for an eye exam, walk away with the glasses later on, and after a couple of weeks not being able to see right and hearing "just give it some time for your eyes to get used to them" I would give up, throw the new glasses in a pile and continue to use the older pair I had tried to replace. What a mess. The office is wonderful, Mike is great, and Dr. Yap couldn't be nicer. I hope she stays at this location for a long time. read more

Dr. Yap is probably the best eye doctor I've ever been to. She's incredibly thorough, friendly, and accommodating, and it's immediately obvious how much she cares about her patients' well-being. As long as I'm a Bay Area resident, I'll definitely be visiting her! read more

Dr. Yap is excellent. She is very thorough in her examination and assessments. I recently found out that I have dry eyes (probably all that time spent in front of a computer screen not blinking...BLINK!!!) and she offered samples of different products to try. She is very hands-on and will call you directly if there are any changes or updates. Love her facility (plenty of parking as it's in a shopping square) and the high quality care she gives to her patients. Highly recommend!! read more

I'm super impressed by Dr. Yap's thorough approach with checking my prescription and recommending we order multiple different trial contacts for me to try. Add to that her incredibly kind, soft demeanor and how delicately she holds eyelids open for an exam! I *see* no better practice for my entire family to get our eyes taken care of for life. read more

Dr. Faye Yap is awesome. I'm glad I found someone that is in the Belmont area and is a top notch professional at what she does. I tried on a variation of lenses and wasn't quite correct due to my personal preference. I had 20-15 vision before needing Rx and dreaded presbyopia. So I wanted to get as much of that detail back and we painstakingly found an acceptable combination of Rx and brand. She also has a good selection of frames and my eyes thank her for patience and attention to detail. Fan for life! read more

Dr. Yap is a very thorough eye doctor with great customer service. This office is clean and have a small designer selections frames.

I came to Dr. Yap because I didn't feel like my current optometrist didn't care about treating me. After seeing Dr. Yap, she gave me a different prescription than was given to me a week prior (from a different doctor) and I can see way better! She said with my lenses my vision is better than 20/20. She is very thorough, and explains what she is doing as the appointment goes on. She is very smart and educates her patients as well. I commute 30 mins and cross the bridge just to see her cause she's that good! Thanks for everything Dr. Yap!! read more

We really like coming here. Dr Yap is professional, friendly, and cares about her work. The first pair of glasses ended up not looking ideal and Dr Yap had no problems helping me find the right one on another try, and return the first pair. I'm very happy with my glasses. Most of all, I really appreciate that she didn't let me walk home with something that wasn't the best fit for me (which has happened to me at other places like Lenscrafters and other independents). read more

I originally started seeing Dr. Yap years ago when my insurance stopped covering my previous optician. She takes a wide variety of insurance, and was conveniently located for me as well. Well, I was so happy with the personal, thorough, caring service I have received from Dr. Yap that even once my insurance changed again so I could go back, I stayed there. And had my wife go there too. I won't go into details to retain some privacy, but on eye topic after eye topic she has raised concerns when appropriate, offered solutions, and went above and beyond in her care for them. Yes, she is definitely a keeper and I would recommend her to anyone and everyone. read more

My experience so far has been great. Have not had an eye appointment in many years. Found out I have two astigmatisms and I am also near sighted. Very excited for my glasses. Eye exam was extremely efficient and she took the time to educate me on a few things along the way. read more

So glad that we found our new optometrist. Dr. Yap is careful and meticulous and cares about her patient needs. Worth all the stars !

I've finally found my go-to eye doctor with ModernEyes Optometry. Dr. Yap was very thorough during my eye exam last year. She spent a lot of time finding the right glasses and contact lens prescription for me since my old prescription wasn't strong enough yet I get dizzy easily so it was a "delicate" balance. Dr. Yap is also very knowledgeable about different glasses brands and their fit so she recommended a few to order in for me to try when I couldn't quite find one I liked and that fit well in the office (which had a nice selection already). I was able to go through the website with her and pick a few of the styles I liked. I really appreciate her patience in helping me find the perfect glasses instead of going with one already there and ushering me out. I also didn't feel any pressure to get anything I didn't need, whether it be add-ons/upgrades for the glasses or additional exams/scans/images. She also didn't bat an eye when I asked how much contact lenses would be through the office so I could compare with online prices (I have gotten dirty looks before at a more salesy optometrist). Highly recommend Dr. Yap and ModernEyes Optometry for all your eye needs! read more

Fantastic eye doc in a tucked away corner of Belmont. She gave a thorough exam and didn't push us to buy anything. Super impressed with her and will def be back with my other son & husband! read more

I have been seeing doctor Yap for years. I really appreciate her patience and professionalism. She took the time to go over all the issues and listen keenly. She is great for an eye doctor. read more

I went to see Dr Yap because my eye site was getting worse and I wanted to start wearing contacts. She was patience, explained things very clearly, and taught me how to put on and take off contacts. read more

Super helpful staff and Dr Yap was very thorough with the check up. I brought my kids here, too, and she's great with them. They were also helpful with explaining my vision benefit options. read more

My visit blew my mind! Dr. Faye Yap is the best in the business! She spent over an HOUR with me to thoroughly check my vision and eyes for pain/dryness. She is extremely nice, patient, and has no problem explaining everything that she is doing, and why she is asking the questions she asks. Talk about a doctor that truly cares about her patients. Highly recommend! read more

My husband and I saw Dr. Yap and her staff earlier today and left feeling like we had a 5 star treatment. We both received a thorough exam (first real eye exam I have ever had, and am thankful I got it as I discovered I am astigmatic and had no idea) and bought glasses as well as shades. Dr. Yap took great care of us from our visit to the selection of glasses (which took a while, and she and her staff were super patient). And they have a few toys in the store, which was super helpful since we have a 2 years old! I would definitely recommend this place, I cannot Imagine receiving better service. read more

I highly recommend Dr Yap. I've been going there for the last 3-4 years and have always received super friendly, personalized service. In fact, I recently visited without an appt after losing my last set of contacts. She grabbed my chart and rx without even needing my name and gave me samples to get me back in action for the short term. That's the definition of high quality personal service. read more

I can't believe I didn't write this review yet.... Good thing I just ordered more contacts from Dr. Yap! I came here for the first time early in 2015. I badly needed a new contact prescription. Unlike other establishments, Dr. Yap answers her own phone and can help you out right away! She set me up with a convenient appointment and was nothing but kind and friendly at my appointment. When I needed to get new contacts, she helped me pick out the best ones and even remembered me when I called to reorder. This location can be hard to miss if you're zooming down El Camino and not looking, but there is ample parking and convenient hours for those of us who work Monday-Friday. read more

It was my first time coming to Dr. Yap and she was extremely knowledgable and thorough during my exam. Making an appointment with her was really easy and the receptionist was willing to work with my schedule. The office itself is clean, welcoming and quiet (at least on a Saturday). The only thing was the selection of eye glasses was not as extensive as a LensCrafters but still had a nice selection. Parking is easy since it is in a little shopping center. All in all a lovely office with great service! read more

Doctor Yap is very thorough , professional & it was easy to communicate my issues . I will definitely see her for my future eye care . Another plus for me is that she is Not afraid of products like the 30 day , Night & Day Air Optix . I have been using this product for nearly 20 years ( from a doctor outside the Bay Area ) but other doctors I called here were either afraid of it or had little experience . This product has been superior for me & dealing with doctors who are afraid of it , is Not an option . Gratefully Dr Yap is truly a " Modern Eyes" doctor . Thank-You ! read more

I absolutely LOVE ModernEyes Optometry! Dr. Yap is extremely caring, intelligent, and friendly. She makes eye exams a simple and straightforward process, and I always feel like she gives me a good understanding of my eye health and any changes in my prescription. I cannot imagine seeing another eye doctor, and I hope I never have to. read more

I am so glad to have found Faye Yap and Modern Eyes Optometry. I have had a lot of issues finding an optometrist who can correctly prescribe contacts and glasses for me to use in a range of scenarios. She spent a lot of time working with my request to create a set of contacts and glasses that would allow me to work as a designer throughout the day using contacts - while looking at very near work on my computer screens and on monitors in meeting rooms - and then use glasses tossed over them for driving home. Then she created another contact prescription for when I am riding my road bike (near to far). I found her patient and kind, and the resulting contacts to be fantastic. I couldn't ask for more, and having gotten much less from some other optometrists, I appreciate her very much. read more

Dr. Yap was very thorough in her examination and very professional. She was able to accommodate me at a short notice and her office is open for a few hours later in the evening so that you can squeeze in a visit after work. During the exam, she explained each eye test clearly and was focused on assessing the right eye prescription for me. Her store has a nice selection of eye frames too. read more

Dr. Yap is fantastic. Extremely personable, professional and thorough in her examination. I brought my kids here for their first REAL eye exams and she was caring, gentle and explained everything for them. There was no shortage of modern technology used in her examinations. While issues were identified and explained in detail, there was no sales pressure. After several regular exams for my kids over the last 3 years, I started having my eye exams here myself and couldn't be more pleased with her service. read more
