A business with old-fashioned values that you hardly ever see any more. Gerry is courteous, respectful, and very patient. He has been in the business longer than I've been alive, and it shows in everything he does. I went to Bundy on the advice of my friend, who had his frames adjusted there. Even though I did not buy my frames there, Gerry took great care in adjusting them to fit my face perfectly. It was the first time I've ever had glasses properly fitted to my face. I never knew what I was missing. I can't remember the last time I received great service like that, and Gerry wouldn't accept any payment. I used to get my glasses at an optometrist near where I live, but they had no idea how to adjust glasses. I will definitely get my next pair of glasses at Bundy and probably every pair after that. I am now a loyal Bundy customer. read more

I was a loyal Johnsen and Bruun customer; I only changed because they closed. J & B is a really tough act to follow. I'm happy to report Bundy Opticians is very good. It's a well organized store with a very kind, professional staff. My husband recently updated the lenses for his reading glasses and is very happy with the quality of their work and level of service. read more

Very knowledgeable and superior service. Gerry very patiently explains the work and options. Good choice of frames. No wonder they have been around for 50 years. I would highly recommend this store. read more

I've been wearing glasses since the seventh grade. Yes, in my early years I wore contacts of all varieties until I decided I wanted to see clearly and also read the fine print. Gerry Bundy and his staff is the first place I go with my new prescription or if I just want to check-out the latest in frames. I've been going to Bundy for over ten years and since they've been in business since 1958, they know how to fit your sight with the lenses you choose. Progressive, high-index (as thin as possible), bi-focal, tri-focal, astigmatism, you name it, Gerry can not only fit and fine tune your new lenses but he can have a conversation with you on the latest technology in lens making, I just love talking to his staff. They know glasses! If you wear glasses and want new frames and lenses, forget Mall instant lenses, forget Costco, if you value your eyesight and want the best vision possible with a 100% one-year guarantee see Bundy! read more

Just walked in with a pair of glasses I bought elsewhere that have acquired a distorted frame (result of an inadvertent toddler head-butt). Mr. Bundy met me, took my glasses in the back for about 3-4 minutes, and brought them back perfect. "What do I owe you?" "Nothing." Great experience. I'll be back next time we're looking for a local optician. read more

Gerri provides incredible customer service and is a pleasure to do business with. I was looking for new nose pads for an old pair of glasses and he was able to not only help me find replacements, but offered them to me free of charge as a first time customer. This is the sort of customer service you rarely see anymore and is sorely missed. These guys will be getting all my business moving forward.... read more

Great fast service for a new pair of sunglasses! Very professional. Would definitely go back and recommend!

I had passed by Bundy Opticians many times, but stopped in for the first time this past summer. I was looking for replacement bifocal lenses for my current frames, as well as a new pair of bifocal sunglasses. I was fitted by Gerry Bundy, himself. He is *extremely* exact. He wouldn't quit until the fit was just right. Having dealt with indifferent or harried store reps in the past, I was very impressed. The prices, even with an in-store discount, are a little on the high end. But the service was way up there - far better than the mall-based chains. Good selection of frames. And Mr. Bundy contacted me by phone, personally, to alert me of a delay on the lenses. I'm happy with my purchases. I'll be back. read more

I've just bought my fourth pair of glasses from Bundy's over the last few years. Jerry and Jose are perfectionists who do a phenomenal job getting you the perfect glasses for amazing vision. Prior to going to Bundy's, I had a lot of trouble with eyeglass stores giving me poor-quality lenses where I didn't see well and had to get the lenses remade multiple times. All four of the glasses I've bought from Bundy's have given me perfect vision. Jerry gets everything right with my lenses--coatings, edge polishing, lens material and thickness, and arranging my glasses to be at the right height on my face. Jose is a master eyeglass fitter; he can fix my crooked frames so much more quickly than most fitters, and I'm a person who can't tolerate having my frames being crooked by a millimeter. This is THE place to buy your glasses! read more

I have used Bundy Opticians for more than a few years. Quality of work? Superb ! Staff knowledge? The best! Customer service? Awesome! I have dealt with Jose each time, and he takes great pains to make sure that the right specs (pun intended) and the right fit are exact for you. Measurements are done, and rechecked to be 100% spot on. Your glasses are delivered on time as promised (mine were ready earlier than I expected). How I started going to Bundy's was that the optician that took care of me before (Mr. Gradashar) retired. He recommended Bundy's. I found out soon afterward that Mr. Gradashar himself went to Bundy's. Good verification, right? Mr Bundy himself is likewise friendly, customer orientated, and very professional. Prices are very good considering the quality and customer service that you receive. Cannot praise Bundy's enough. Cyril L. Christensson San Mateo, CA. read more

Great service and products. We are 3 family members with different needs and we have been very satisfied with Mr Bundy's business for many years. Everyone is very personable and that in itself is unique and much appreciated read more

I have been to so many opticians offices looking for a pair of eyeglasses frame. Based on Yelp research, I decided to visit Bundy for my first time. Wow, the other yelpers were so right. What can I say? Both Gerry and Jose are very, very nice who show nothing but genuine care to customers. I met both, and did not feel being rushed at all, although I came in the store 20 minutes before closing time. They definitely have me as a loyal customer, and guess what? I have a lot of friends wearing glasses so you know where they'll go when they need new glasses! :) Thanks guys, and keep up with great work! read more

I jumped in the river and lost one of my $200.00 prescription sunglass lenses. I just can't live with out my sunglasses! I am like a mole, just can't go out with out my shades. So I called Bundy where I had bought my glasses and they ordered a new lens over the phone. No deposit no hassles. (These were progressive tri focal with all kinds of special coatings). I dropped off my frames the next day thinking it would be a week to get a replacement. They called me the next day with my glasses ready! Daammmm that was three days. How do they do that? When I picked them up he took one look at my clear ones and cleaned them adjusted them and replaced the old sticky pads. NO CHARGE!! I danced a jig all the way home. Not really,I drive a Prius. What are we going to do when the industry looses this type of quality professionals and all we have is the fast food Lens Crappers? Spend the extra buck and let's kept these people in business. I don't even know if I could find them cheeper. No way I could find better service. If Bunny Queen( one star review) wants free mesuremends to take to the internet, she can go stuff it, Ha! I would like to see her deal with a problen like mine over the Net. Woohoo! Woohoo! Woohoo! read more

Excellent customer service!! On a recent Monday morning we had an emergency eyeglass repair that had to be done prior to catching a flight. The store opens at 9 am (at least one hour before most other shops). And - when I called to inquire about coming in with no advance notice, I received a very genuine, warm and friendly reception on the phone. Ditto when we arrived at the shop. They fixed the glasses very quickly and would only accept a nominal payment for an eyeglass case. I intend to return to this store and give them more business. We need to support fine, local shops like this that know what they are doing and offer such a wonderful customer experience!! read more

I lost my "distance" glasses purchased in HK about 3 years ago. So bummed because I know it costs an arm & a leg to have it replaced here plus the reasonably-priced frame choices are limited. Got a coupon for the new Site for Sore Eyes on 3rd & found out that I have a discount for Lens Crafters. I first went to Lens Crafters in Hillsdale. A few choices but I'm still shopping. Then I went to Site for Sore Eyes. Mediocre selections - really cheap frames mostly made in China. So I planned a visit to my old optician - Bundy Opticians. I should have just stopped by their store in the first place. Plus I like patronizing family-owned businesses so why did I even waste my time? Beautiful frames, very wide selections plus great, great prices. And customer service is just so wonderful. Gerry Bundy is such a class act. Jose is very patient & knowledgeable. This should be your go-to place for glasses. You will not be sorry. read more

I have never bought any glass from them unfortunately but I always go there to adjust my glasses. They always take their time that my glass fit perfectly on my face and they don't charge me at all! This is old school service you can't find easily anymore! Also, I just realized today that they have very good Maui Jim sunglasses collection which I will check next time first, when I need for new sunglasses! read more

Local family business with a nice selection of frames & excellent customer service. And, they carry Silhouette frames, which I personally really like (plastic frames look terrible on me). I came on a Saturday morning & there was a bit of a wait as everyone was helping other customers, but I'm guessing it would be less crowded during the day on a weekday, if that's important to you. Highly recommend, if you are looking for a nice pair of professionally- fitted eyewear. read more

Took in three pair of glasses for repair. Done while I waited, all fixed perfectly and only $20 for at least 1/2 hour of work. Friendly, professional and a great experience. I will be back read more

I have been going to Bundy opticians for oh, 15 years! I can't keep track. It is very comfortable and welcoming going in there. Mr.Bundy and Jose treat you like and old friend, whether you are a new or old customer. They truly care about your eyesight and the quality of your frames and lenses, they would not steer you wrong when ordering. The selection of frames is also large from the cool and hip to the more traditional. They have no problem with adjustments, no matter how many times you have to come back. You will not get better service anywhere-and I have walked into quite a few opticians over the years-they are the best on the peninsula! read more

My husband and I have been customers of Bundy Opticians for quite some time. You will receive the best service and Gerry and his staff are extremely knowledgeable. This has been a long-time family owned business and you are taken care of just like family. I highly recommend Bundy Opticians. It is the best in town! read more

Bundy Optician is a friendly and knowledgeable shop. Like Iggy S. said "No wonder they have been around for 50 years". I'm pretty sure that they are the best at what they do in San Mateo. read more

I had a nose pad that broke off my eyeglasses which made it too painful to wear. Jose helped me out. He added two brand new nose pads and cleaned my glasses in less than 10 minutes. When I put them on, they felt great! I had a quick, hassle-free, and pleasant experience here. This is true customer service and I will be sure to bring my next pair of eyeglasses to be filled here. read more

These folks are honest and down right wonderful!! I got my glasses with designer frame from Lenscrafter in LA couple of years ago. Recently the temple hinge on the frame broke and when I took it back to Lenscrafter they told me it cannot be repaired! So instead I took it to the next door jewelry shop they put the hinge back to working condition while charging me $60 (gave me one year warranty). Today while visiting bay area on a business trip the same hinge broke again and had a hard time working through the day. I took it to Bundy Opticians for an emergency repair. Laura took a quick look and told me it is an easy fix! Lo and behold she is back in 5 min with the temple attached back to the frame better than before! And the most astonishing part is she refused any fee as she considered this is a small service to the customers and no fees needed! I was totally blown away!! Next time I'm getting a new pair I'd make serious effort to time my trip to bay area just so that I would have the privilege to get it done by Bundy Opticians! San Mateo folks have a gem of a shop with the people running it are as competent and honest rare in this day and age of greed and trickery. I rarely give 5 stars in my review but Bundy Opticians richly deserves it, if I could I'd give them even higher rating just for being so kind and wonderful to a complete stranger!! read more

Searched yelp for recommendations on good opticians and I found this one on the top! I had no time to review all the recommendations so I decided to visit this shop. The shop gives a good vibe with nice arrangement of various brands of glasses. I see a statement written on wall "serving from 1958" and thought it must to be good place to be in. My opinion still got stronger when Mr. Bundy greeted me with warm smile. I went there to fix the frame of my glasses and he assured me it is a very small one to fix. And guess what... he did not charge me anything and the glasses were back to their original form without a clue that they were once broken. I would definitely suggest this optician to everybody who is looking for good service. Thanks Mr. Bundy. read more

I was concerned about getting the best peripheral vision I could with glasses, as I feel it affects my awareness of traffic at intersections, in particular. Gerry was very helpful in finding a solution to the issue. He was friendly, patient and knowledgeable about their products. I'm very happy with my new glasses! read more

I was interested in getting glasses that would protect my eyes from blue light and eye strain since I work at a computer for long periods of time. Gerry was very patient with all of my questions and provided very detail explanations. Excellent customer service. I bought a pair of glasses from them and will be coming back to buy my next pair, too. read more

Great place with amazing customer service. I went into Bundy Opticians today to see if they could fix my wife's glasses. After the pin in the hinge fell out, I really messed them up by trying to fix them myself. I showed up without an appointment and Gerry greeted me right away. He took my wife's glasses for a few minutes and restored the hinge to a new condition. After attempting to pay him (which he would not accept), I asked if I could give him anything... his response was an extension of his hand for a handshake. Great guy and great place. Recommend to anyone who wants the best customer service. read more
