We visited Bunbury's several times over the course of a long weekend trip to visit my brother, who lives across the river in Hastings-on-Hudson. We felt warmly welcomed into this tight-knit community coffee shop, and even felt as though we were remembered from day-to-day as we came back. It's a family run business, where "Mom" is in the back baking up treats, the daughter(s?) were out front serving customers and making drinks. One thing that caught me off-guard, was after a couple sleepy mornings of getting coffees and baked goods, over the weekend, the influx of cyclists was incredible! I didn't realize that Piermont was along a very popular cycling route, and Bunbury's was clearly a favorite stop of the cyclists! It was really cool, and the employees didn't skip a beat - they were moving everyone along very efficiently, and still delivered top notch service! Super cozy and cute coffee shop with plenty of tasty treats and a range of coffees, lattes, teas. Perfect for cyclists passing through as the bike rack in front can be seen from inside the cafe. Seating is limited, there are board games and books. The service was very friendly and prompt, the pricing is fair, I paid $8 for a muffin and a large coffee. Bunbury's is a cozy coffee shop with a warm, friendly vibe. Lots of different coffee and tea drinks, syrups, and milk choices. Probably even better than the coffee selection is the fresh baked goods. I had a delicious raspberry oat bar here last week and wasn't quite as hungry today so ordered a biscotti to dunk in my iced latte, and it was fresh and huge! Came into Bunbury's to cool off, but did not have a pleasant experience. As much as I am very lenient on the "entire world is short staffed, please be patient," this cafe did not qualify for this category. There were plenty of staff members preparing orders, but it seemed chaotic. Aside from my order taking a lot longer than patiently expected, lids were not provided for the coffees, my Iced Cafe Latte tasted burned and not enjoyable. Muffin in the Glass Bubble I stopped by Bunberry's with my mother for a warm drink on a blustery afternoon. While ordering us a cappuccino each I contemplated something sweet and noticed what looked like a muffin in an adorable miniature cake stand, replete with a glass bubble top. There was a little card that stated the contents "Gluton Free Bluberry Muffin". The glass wasn't completely clear, so I lifted the whimsical top off to take a better look at the confection. I eventually decided on the quaintly displayed muffin and lifted the glass top off again to retrieve it. The barista behind the counter, who never greeted us, had been silently observing me when she condescendingly blurted the reprimand to please stop lifting up the top. I replied that I was just getting the muffin I was going to purchase. She then presented me with a different blueberry muffin from behind the counter. I thought, oh the muffin under the glass bubble is for display only. The tone of her reprimand was condescending. I told her that I found it so. Many moons ago I worked in restaurants/food services and would never speak disrespectfully to customers. I walked into that coffee shop in pretty good spirits, but walked out annoyed. $17 for two cappuccinos and one muffin with a side of rudeness put me off Bunberry's for good. read more

This was such a cute coffee shop with plenty of pastries and snacks to make anyone happy. I stopped by after a hike and although it was almost 4pm the place was pretty packed. With limited seating, most people were ordering to go, but they have a cute little seating area with free books to read and a couple of games. The coffee itself was delicious (I got an iced caramel latte) and they have plenty of teas for those who prefer the alternative. They also have cakes/cookies/etc. I got a raisin scone, and although I'm not a huge fan of raisins, it was good! Definitely recommend stopping here! read more

There are new and used books for sale and for browsing. The service staff are young, local, friendly and welcoming. I loved this little coffee shop while I stopped in the charming town of Piermont! It has a variety of drink options and pastries, muffins, snacks for everyone--even vegans! ***My only stipulation that would maybe make me take off half a star is due to how expensive it is. My matcha was $6!!! That's is more than NYC.*** However, it was tasty and they had unsweetened almond milk and stevia which is a huge bonus in my book and the reason I splurged . The cutest coffeehouse EVER! Before I even get into the food / beverages, let me just say that I love that Bunbury's is named in reference to The Importance of Being Earnest, one of my fave Oscar Wilde plays. Seriously, I might love this place just as much as I love that show. We came here this past weekend following an awesome Yelp Event at neighboring DVINE PIES Pizza across the street, and I'm sure glad that we stumbled upon this great little hidden gem! They actually have some of the best iced tea I've ever had, and this is coming from a girl who used to work in a tea shop that sold custom-made tea blends. The Cranberry Orange iced tea is to die for, and I'm still thinking about how good it was a few days later. It has a wonderfully warm, fruity flavor with subtle hints of vanilla. Honestly, it doesn't even need sweetener - the natural flavors are so good as is! Extra kudos to Bunbury's for keeping the tea away from the coffee... nothing worse than when you can taste coffee flavor in your iced tea. Ew. I also got an Espresso con Panna (my fave coffee drink), and it was strong and had a great, bold flavor. The prices are cheaper than even some of the local coffeehouses we have in Rhode Island, so I was pleased, and so was my wallet! Because I had a few extra bucks to spare, I treated myself to a house made mini blueberry muffin, which hit the spot after an afternoon of savory delights at the pizza place. Yum! The coffee shop itself is very warm and homey, and you'll want to bring a book or a laptop to get some work or leisure done. It's a popular spot on weekends, especially with cyclists, and they have ample bike racks outside. The folks that work here couldn't be nicer, including the friendly mother-son team behind the counter, plus the other young lady who took my order with a smile! By far the best coffee shop and pit stop for cyclists in the area. Debbie, the owner, has a soft spot for cyclists and makes them feel at home. She has opened her doors for me well after closing to make sure I was hydrated and nourished. A lifesaver to say the least! read more

I come here usually every Friday and Sunday morning grab a cappuccino or iced latte and a corn muffin which is home baked and excellent along with the other muffins and coffee cakes. I've given up on the commercial stuff like Starbucks and Dunkin' which are not very good and overpriced. Bunbury not only has a great atmosphere where you can come in and read a book but the coffee is excellent . They use great quality coffee from a local roaster and the staff of overly friendly . Debbie the owner is always very friendly and strikes up a friendly conversation. My only suggestion outside seating, but I don't know if the city with their rules will allow tables and whatnot. Delightful local place. As three girls come in for breakfast, we got the regular croissant, pain au chocolat, and a blueberry muffin to split. We are all watching our carbs and didn't think we'd want to finish them all. "Just a taste!" we all said. Yeah, right! We barely left any crumbs, the pastries were that good. The coffee is also hot and fresh and as other reviewers have noted, they do offer a variety of different "cream" options (dairy free, etc.). Quite popular with throngs of bikers, as by the bike rack and tire pumps outside do attest. This is random, but I also love that they always have a cracking selection of magazines available. Not that there's ever space to sit and read, but it's nice to know the options are there. Staff is friendly, atmosphere is homey and inviting. A solid stop on any visit to Piermont. read more

Bunbury's coffee is an interesting establishment mostly for retirees and route 9W cyclists. It has weird hours: it's almost never open--at least never past 3pm. I come here on weekends to embrace the very respectable coffee quality, as well as endless charm and tranquility of Toni Morrison's former homestead. This well-hidden coffee shop is an obviously suburban affair. You will not find the mandatory d-bag hipster, or the stressed out college student rocking out with his macbook air--standard fare in most NYC coffee places. What you will find at Bunburry's, however, are relaxing retirees and--surprisingly--bicycle gangs. Yes, inexplicably, every cyclist must stop by here for coffee along his scenic exercise route. Since the internal combustion engine and alcohol consumption went out of fashion, these REI-equipped tour-de-france rebels love their coffee pitstops. On their way to and fro Fort Lee, I presume, and mostly in their 40s, these brave souls must first stop for coffee and chill for a couple of hours, before they perform their normal migratory exercise activity. Every time I am here, I'm amazed how color coordinated the bicyclists always are--I guess bike gang representation is a thing. Yes, Yelp, there is bicycle parking nearby. My inner Mark Twain loves this place; good coffee, a cozy seating area, with endless supply of bicyclists along with the usual Piermont tourists. All in a charming Americana town well-isolated from the hustle and bustle of the big city just 20 minutes away. Are you riding a bike up 9W and passing through either Piermont or Nyack? Then chances are you will be making a pit stop at Bunbury's. I have popped in here a few times during rides. The inside is small but very cozy - a rustic coffee shop vibe that feels almost more like you are in someone's living room. The have a decent selection of baked goods and some pre-made sandwiches. The staff is very nice as well. They even put a couple of bike racks out front to cater to the cycling crowd. My minor complaints are that the service is a bit slow, so if you get stuck behind a large group of road warriors, you may be waiting a while. Also, their food selection is a bit anemic. It gets the job done, but I would like it if they had a wider food selection. Finally, they are cash-only which is very annoying. That said, Bunbury's is definitely better than going to one of those coffee or doughnut shop mega chains. read more

This a beautiful stop on a nice long cycling ride from NYC. The two bike racks (yes, there's bike parking - cyclist-friendly place) in front are packed on the weekends from about 9 am to 3 pm, making indoor seating hard to come by. In warmer weather, swarms of folks are outside. The real reason to come here: the muffins. Go for the cinnamon chip or the double chocolate - you won't be sorry. If you're counting calories, ask for two minis, which give you the same great taste without just so much of it. Not a huge fan of the coffee here - it's okay. Large selection of tea. There's Gatorade and Powerbars for cyclists, and sandwiches and wraps for lunchtime visitors. Magazines, books, and newspapers are available on the counter for free reading, and they always show local art on the walls.
