My family loves this place. We have eaten here for years and this is our number one pho place to eat. I have found a couple of other places with good pho soup but none with other good food. Great bahn mi's! My boyfriend and I frequent here. He always gets the Bun Me Deli special, which has pate, char siu pork, and pork roll or like a pork sausage. I've gotten the grilled beef and the lemon grass chicken, both of which are very good. All the sandwiches come with pickled carrots, daikon, cilantro, and jalapeños. I like to ask for pate on mine because I don't think they put it on any of their sandwiches except the deli special one. Pate is a liver spread, which sounds gross, but is actually delicious. It gives the sandwiches a nice, creamy, fattiness. The only other foods we've gotten other than the sandwiches are the fried spring rolls. I've been to Bun Me a couple of times in the past month. I love that they have good vegan options here and the quality of the food is very decent and flavorful. The prices are also very inexpensive. Both times that I have been here, I have gotten the exact same thing because it was that good! We ordered the summer rolls to start and they were so so good! With the peanut sauce on the side (which is good on almost any of their dishes) you can't miss. For dinner I had the tofu and rice dish with a side of peanut sauce and their teriyaki glaze. Mixed all together it was so yummy! We also ordered the tofu salad and it was huge! Almost enough for the both of us and full of tofu! Bun Me? that's kind of odd... oh, Banh Mi, clever. I picked Bun Me! for a quick late take-out lunch since I've kept hearing about the place from quite a few people, but heed this, as I stated before, I didn't sit down at the restaurant but instead opted for a take-out. And I went with the grilled lemongrass chicken sandwich instead of getting any of their much-talked about pork offerings. As typical of smaller Asian establishments, Bun Mi closes at 9 p.m. on the weekdays, and closes even earlier on the weekends, 7:30. Being just a small Vietnamese joint, that looks more fast food than of restaurant quality, I didn't expect much. I figured that the restaurant received many of its rave reviews from the cheap prices to decent food ratio rather than the food itself being exceptionally good. I was wrong. Partially. The food items being ridiculous cheap definitely aid to the high ratings, but the food itself is actually quite delicious. The grilled lemongrass chicken sandwich, comes with grilled chicken cubes, pickled carrots and daikon, cucumber, cilantro, jalapenos, and mayo. All on a toasted French baguette. The bread was not too hard, not too soft, and the ingredients were perfectly seasoned. The only drawback of the sandwich was the carrots, which weren't as fresh as I would have liked but once I removed them off, the sandwich was perfect. At $4.35, I can't complain at all. I love the flavors of this sandwich, the chicken has a smokey grilled taste, the peppers pop with the right amount of spice and the bread is soft with a slight crunch. Bun Me! is a tiny Vietnamese joint in a strip mall that serves boba and a few Vietnamese dishes. There are about 4 tables in the entire restaurant so eating there is nearly impossible. There's barely enough space for you to stand while you wait for your to-go order. I was excited to see that there was a lot of customers there during lunch but it turns out the food really wasn't that great. I ordered the #1 sandwich with different meats and pate. I also ordered the spring rolls. The spring rolls are fried here. If you want the traditional spring rolls, you have to say summer roll. Although the spring roll is pretty good, my sandwich wasn't. I ended up not even eating half of it. The bread was so crusty and hard that I ended up having to peel away a lot of the crusts. There was no pate to be found anyway and trust me, when I didn't taste if after the first bite, I peeled it apart and looked. They have this sticky sauce on their BBQ pork that was really sweet and they put too much of it so the whole sandwich tastes like the sauce. The pickled carrots and radishes barely had any taste. I initially took an interest in this place because they offer vegetarian alternatives. Their Tofu Banh Mi is great! It's filling and flavorful. I just want their tofu recipe or find out where they purchase from because my tofu at home is not even the least bit close to as good as theirs. I just got a to go order from here literally 10 minutes ago. I ordered their deli sandwich and crispy egg rolls. As I was driving back home, I was starving so I decided to crack open the Styrofoam container the egg rolls were in. It came with a dipping sauce, one hand on the wheel and the other holding the roll, I couldn't wait. I took a bite of this crispy, chewy, meaty, goodness. It was like an explosion of all senses partying in my mouth. Damn, if it's this good alone, can't imagine what it'll be like with the dipping sauce. Side of my hands on the wheel while fingers are trying to open the dipping sauce. I took a little sip, it was sweet, vinegary, fishy, yummy. By the second signal light my four pieces of egg rolls had disappeared. I had thoughts of turning around and getting more. But I still had my deli sandwich, so decided to keep going home. Bf and I were over at a friend's house in Northridge watching the games Saturday afternoon-night. The boys of course send us girls to pick up some beer and we suggest maybe bbqing for dinner, but it was a cold and lazy Saturday and I couldn't figure out what to bbq so they suggested Bun Me. The whole time they were talking about it I thought it was spelled the normal way Banh Mi, but I think their version is cute. Anyways they suggested the wings and the sandwiches. So we got one order of those (6pc) and 1 pork and 1 ribeye banh mi. Bf and I split the wings in half and had some rice and we shared half of each sandwich. We were able to take the other 2 halves of the sandwhich home for bfast the next day. Wing's were nicely flavoured and had a pretty nice and spicy kick to them. I think the combination of the chili flakes from the wings and the jalapenos in the sandwich were so spicy that I didn't even need to use siracha. They are similar to korean wings cuz they're sweet and spicy minus the ginger that korean wings have. Sanwiches were both good, bread stayed crispy on the outside yet soft in the center. Like I said we took the other halves of both sandwiches home and the next day for brunch I added a nicely fried egg w/ crispy brown edges to each sandwich mmmmmm was that good. I got the idea from No Reservations when Anthony Bourdain went to Vietnam and ate at one of the best banh mi places. More Vietnamese places should start doing this, what's not to love about adding a nicely fried egg to a sandwich. read more

Love these guys and love this place! Teeny seating area, but great food. The beef pho is great, but the bun bo hue is fantastic! If you like spicy, you must try this out. My first experience with Banh Mi (Vietnamese sandwiches) was the Nom Nom Truck and it killed any desire to try any more Banh Mi. However, After a period of dealing with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) from the NomNom Truck, I thought I'd give Banh Mis another go with Bun Me and my experience AMAZING! A completely different experience. Food: 1) Bun me Deli Special consisted of pate, pork roll, and char siu pork on a toasted French baguette with pickled carrots and daikon, cucumber, cilantro, jalapeno, and fresh mayo. OMG... it was soo tasty and it was like $5 for just the sandwich! The meat was flavorful and wasn't dry whatsoever. I loved the spiciness from the jalapeno and the fresh veggies gave it a nice crunchy texture. I had the #1 Bun Me Deli Special (Pâté, pork roll, Char siu pork), Summer Rolls w/shrimp, and fried Spring Rolls. The Summer Rolls & Egg rolls were ok. The fried spring rolls were unique. It didn't look anything like the picture that was on their menu. It was very crispy. It reminded me of an Asian version of a taquito. Price point on the sandwiches are pricey for what you are getting. I've had better sandwiches else where for less the price. I have yet to try the hot dishes. The establishment has limited seating. Vietnamese Sandwiches in the Valley??? What??? Saw it one day while trying out Pizza Rev with a friend. I went for the obvious, the house special, the #1 Bun Me Deli Special (Pâté, pork roll, Char siu pork), and fried Spring Rolls. If you've never had banh mi before, you'll probably like this. If you KNOW Banh Mi, you probably won't come back for the sandwiches. First, most bun me's have a nice 10" - 12" baguette, this one was more like 8". I love pate, there was very little smeared on one side of the baguette. The rest of the meat, the port roll was sliced paper thin and was very meager. The char siu was "different" than the char siu I know. it seemed like it was ground pork with the char siu red color and attempted seasoning. The pickled carrots and radishes were too thinly julienned and therefore, the pickling made them soggy, they didn't provide that crisp crunch that I'm used to.. The spring rolls actually had the Vietnamese wrappers. They are more like rice paper vs. the typical egg roll wrap. I like these because it's a little chewier but still has a crispy snap when your first bite in. Flavor wise, they needed a little more depth. Maybe a little fish sauce mixed in or grated carrots.....something, it was missing something. As a plus, they do have Boba! The boba was nice and chewy, the milk tea was good. Nothing gourmet but good. These are $6+ sandwiches, a little pricey for bun me, even in the Valley. The rest of the menu was also pricey for a little hole in the wall Vietnamese place. I'll probably go back to try the Pho just to complete this review. Seating is limited, but it looks like most people take out anyway. This place is whatever. I got a tofu bun mi and it was the second most expensive sandwich! Didn't anyone ever tell them that no meat means less cost? However, it was good. The only thing I would suggest is to ask for extra pickle veg. The soup is good but the dinning area is way too crowded. You can't eat a noodle soup when others are watching. Some of these noodles have whiplash action...very embarrassing when your neighbors are one foot away in every direction and you have broth running down your chin. Another CSUN style eatery. Place is walking distance from campus, pretty fair priced, and food is just ok. I had the Pork bánh mì and it was alright. Those shrimp chips or whatever they were that came with it, I didn't care much for. The bánh mì itself was cool. Bread was alright, pork was tasty, and vegetables were crisp. It just didn't do anything for me where I would want to come back asap for their food. Place is really small too. Overall: I'd say it's worth a shot to try. Ever since Pizza Rev opened, I have been taking my business--when there is any to take--to that place instead of Bun Me! Sorry, man. But you know what? I now think that I have good reason to do so. I ordered the Deli Special the other day and noticed that the price has gone up. FYI, don't trust the prices on their online menu; it's not up to date. (P.S. Restaurants should update their websites more often). It tasted great as always; I loved everything about it. Even with the meat, the sandwich tasted so fresh. I have the pickled vegetables to thank for that, I think. HOWEVER I ordered a strong Vietnamese coffee. When I saw the cup, it had half an inch of space between the surface of the coffee and the lid of the cup. I asked the woman behind the counter if she could fill up that cup (I like to get my money's worth--shut up), she said, "Sure, I can put more ice." DAFUQ. I didn't ask for more ICE. I didn't pay $2.50 for a cup of ice that happened to have some coffee in it. I am so disappointed by the way the employee handled my request. My sister recommended this place to try when I was in the area to visit her. I got their Deli Special Vietnamese sandwich. The prices are fairly cheap and it's more of a fast food type place where you order at the counter so I just took my order to-go along with an order of a large thai iced tea. I like to add extra pate to my sandwich. I absolutely love the taste of it. The bread wasn't too hard or soft. I hate it when my bread is super hard and not fresh that it cuts the roof of my mouth. You know, I'm from the land of delicious Asian food (626), so I didn't expect to find good Vietnamese restaurants out in Northridge. Yet, this place ended up impressing me! Prices are fair like any other Vietnamese restaurant. We ordered a banh mi deli special ($4.50) and a beef pho noodle soup (about $8). I have eaten banh mi so many times throughout my life, but never had I ever eaten one like this! Each bite goes through a crispy exterior yet easy-to-chew bread all leading up to an explosion of flavor from the meats and sauce. The beef noodle soup had a decent amount.
