We had a great time here! We did tours / tastings of 3 distilleries in Boston on our last day in town and Bully Boy was a favorite! Our tour guide was knowledgeable but willing to admit when she didn't know the answer to something. She showed us around, answered questions and best of all, poured our samples! Bully Boy's products we good! We bought bottles of their Amaro, Boston Rum and Estate Gin but we didn't try anything that we didn't like. The facility is cool and there's an awesome space to hang out back in the barrel room. On caveat, which doesn't impact their rating at all is that it's in a "less than awesome" neighborhood, so be aware of that when you're visiting. read more

Hard to find at first, but definitely worth finding and going. The drinks were fantastic. The staff will help guide you based on your preference, but you can't go wrong with any choices (both alcoholic or NA). I had an Old Fashioned, and it was probably the best Old Fashioned I've had all year. They make all of their liquor themselves which is nice. It's a cozy place with limited seating, so keep this in mind. Best to go with a group of 4 or so, otherwise seating can be difficult to all sit together and easily interact. Really cool spot to do a quick tour and tasting ($15, plus you get to keep the glass!). The bar is really cool too, but small. We loved the Stone Sour honestly more than any of the whiskey straight. The liquor is pretty good but not incredible--the bottled in bond bourbon is quite good, and the rums were actually great, but the others were only fine for us. I fell in love with the bottled old fashioned when Bully Boy began shipping it during COVID. Because a lady doesn't tell, you'll never know just how many bottles traveled to my house on the west coast. This past weekend, I had the opportunity to tour the distillery, ahead of a late night flight out. As luck had it, I was the only person on the tour. I had a great time with my guide, Margaret, as she walked me around the production floor, discussed BB's process, and talked about the three samples I tasted. The distillery has a beautiful bar with a great selection of signature and classic cocktails. Although I took an Uber, it looked like there was plenty of street parking in the area. Went for a distillery tour and had a fantastic time and have gone back many times since for events that they host.Our tour guide was fantastic and gave us the history of bully boy! There is no food but you can order delivery. During events they do have food trucks and vendors. I love the decor it's set in an old mill building with a history of its own. The barrel room has beautiful chandeliers great for a bachelors/bachelorette party. They also have bottles for purchase / coasters etc.. I put together a basket for a Yankee swap. First time to Bully Boy Distillers and it did not disappoint. We came in late night for some drinks, it was a little hard to find, very much a speak easy vibe. I loved the door with the formula, basic meaning to make ethanol/ alcohol. The cocktails were perfectly made with the distilled products. My boyfriend and I did a whiskey tour here recently and we had the best boozy time! Our tour guide was super knowledgeable and funny and gave us a few samples of their whiskey. Some of it was super strong but still great. With a ticket for the tour, you also get a souvenir glass to take home. During the tour, they give you a rundown on how the alcohol is made and they show you the barrels that they age the whiskey in, too! Afterward, there's a bar on site that has the most amazing cocktails. Our tour was less than an hour but we ended up spending almost 2 hours there! read more

Went here for the first time on Friday the 13th and had a great time! Got there at 7and glad we did because tons of people showed up around 9. We sat inside the barrel room and first ordered the whiskey flights 10/10 recommend. I love whiskey/whiskey and trying different types so this was great for me and even better for someone wanting to try like my roommate. We were given complimentary shots which was amazing and made us feel very welcomed. Only complaint was the amount of fruit flies and gnats in the barrel room. They were all over the place and even got in our drinks. We were able to switch the drinks out for new ones, but would have rather not experienced that. Other than that I'd go again, but hopefully there are some fruit fly catchers next time. read more

This place is VERY cool. It's in a weird, hidden warehouse, with not much around it. The cocktails are gorgeous- very quirky ingredients, very fun garnishes. There is a fairly small space to sit, though well decorated, so we ended up sitting at the bar. The small locale does give an air of exclusivity though, as if you have found this cool unknown bar. It was raining, so we didn't even see the cool outdoor space (or know it was there, I only am seeing it now on other Yelp reviews haha) I'm giving a 4 instead 5 because the cocktails contain some very niche ingredients (example being spicy ingredients or pepper). We did the whiskey and amaro tasting and I ordered a black Manhattan. Loved all of it. Bartenders were super knowledgeable and fun to talk to. We enjoyed conversing with Saylor (?) the bar manager; super nice, let us try some cool stuff, and shared some helpful tips to make fun drinks at home. 100% recommend this tour and bar to anyone visiting the area. Came here for the first time on Saturday as I had a Groupon for a tour. I've been wanting to try this place out for a long time anyway. I scheduled my tour time in advance for 4 PM. We arrived a few minutes early and waited for a bit in a holding area by the bathrooms while the previous tour finished. The first part of the "tour" was basically them asking if you want to buy drinks from an abbreviated menu. I was fine with that, but if I wasn't in the mood for a full drink yet, I could see how this could seem like a waste of 20-30 minutes (there was nothing "toury" about it - just waiting around and people going to the window side of the bar). I ended up getting an old fashioned and it was strong and good. Not too sweet. My boyfriend got the Hub Punch which was also good. When it was finally time for the tour, Jesse started talking about the owners, how the bully boy name came from their family horse, etc. He also talked about how they got started in booze, their trials and tests, etc before we started moving further into the distillery. We got to try a few different boozes (with big pours - geez!) and stick our head into one of the stills, which was nice. I should have seen if there was an echo-cho-o. After the tour, we dumped out into a room where you could buy bottles or merch. We tasted their bottled old fashioned and hub punch and I ended up buying a bottle of the latter (more on that later...). We went the the bar for a last round before heading out. After a few minutes, we were lucky to snag a table and the connect four game. We played (and I lost miserably) until we were done with our beverages. For this round, we got the Old Fashioned flight which had old fashioneds with whiskey, gin and rum (so good and inventive!) and the Persian Flip (gin, Persian lime, saffron, cardamom, rose water & egg white) - smooooth. I'm not going to lie - I was wasted. I only had 2 cocktails - which is nothing for me, but I think that all the tasting pours did me in! I was so out of it that I forgot my bottle of hub punch at the bar! Cut to Sunday, I called them and they said they would "make it right". So I drove back over there and they gave me another bottle - just like that! I can't tell you how grateful I was for this type of customer service. I would have been super bummed if I was out $27 (obviously, my own fault). I mean, I was able to show them the charge on my credit card app that showed that I had made a bottle purchase the previous night, but they could have easily been like "oh well". Instead, they were super nice and I'm able to have my hub punch when I go away next weekend. All in all - the drinks and spirits were really good. The vibe/ambiance was great and the customer service was stellar. I'll be bahhk. read more

The only reason they are not getting 5 stars is because I was denied paying with cash. Didn't know this was something that was allowed. I know cash isn't super common these days but there were no signs or anything stating they didn't accept cash. This is a MUST visit whether you live close or far away. My party was coming from many directions and all agree we would make the trip to Bully Boy again! We started with a tour by Phil, who was well versed in the distillery's history and very knowledgeable about the current happenings, breaking everything down so everyone could understand the process of making their delicious spirits. We had samples along the way, which was a bonus. Afterwards we spent some time in the bar room, where the most attentive and skilled bartender crafted our cocktails in no time, despite how busy it was. The drinks were absolutely delicious - highly recommend the Line of Flight and Odd Number. To end our visit, we purchased (a few) bottles of Bully Boy to bring some of this fantastic experience back home with us. This was a yummy and enjoyable experience from a local distillery with great people running the show, from the front of the house to the back. Can't wait to come back! read more

One of the best tour experiences of any distillery or brewery I can remember! Our host Phil did a great job. While the "stops" were limited the review of history and process was thorough and interesting. The tasting was good. I actually enjoyed and appreciated their gin (I am not a gin fan) and it's very interesting to find that their rum is old-school molasses-based.... pretty cool for the only distillery in Boston proper in the last 100 years since prohibition (and the fact there were over 60 distilleries making rum back then and Boston was a global hub for it. A very small but nicely decorated bar with limited seating ended the tour. Unfortunately too crowded for us but everybody looked like they were having fun. Definitely a great visit! read more

Hands down, the BEST. COCKTAILS. IN. BOSTON. Yes, it's true! Prior to the pandemic, you could enjoy a cocktail inside their tasting room (a smaller, more intimate space with limited seats) and their rotating seasonal drink menu is has something for everyone. They specialize in rum, whiskey, and amaro based cocktails using their own spirits, made onsite in the distillery (which, if you get a chance to tour, is also well worth it!), but have the yummiest cocktail combinations that you can't find anywhere else in the city. I just visited the new Bully Boy Cocktail Garden that is open during COVID-19 and had a wonderful experience. Seating was booked based on Open Table reservations only, social distancing was clearly enforced, and I saw the bartenders wiping down seats and counters between each new group that came in. Due to the new ordinance by the governor, any outdoor establishment that serves alcohol must also have patrons order food for the table, so BB has a lineup of great food trucks parked right outside the cocktail garden to order from. Patrons are expected to order at least one food item for the table. Recommendations: Get the The Red Bengal - somewhat like a moscow mule but uniquely tart, fruity, and smooth! Can't wait to go back to get it again. You honestly can't go wrong with anything they serve, though. Parking: easy free street parking further down on Cedric Street. read more

Their tasting room is bumping and crowded and they have a nice slate of interesting drinks and their tour (just $10!) is super fun and down to earth without being overly drawn out. We went on the tour on a Sunday afternoon (reserved the tickets the day before, so you don't have to reserve way in advance) and had a great tour guide who gave us lots of information about the history of the Willis brothers, the process of making vodka vs. rum vs. whisky vs. gin, and also let us taste three spirits: their Boston rum, their American straight whisky, and their Amaro. Boson rum was probably my favorite--sweet and molasses-y and smooth without the characteristic spices you find in Caribbean rum. The whisky was just a little too harsh and plain for me, but I'm a fan of complex, smoky Scotches so that may just be my personal preference. Next time we'll stop by the bar! It was a bit crowded but they make a bunch of infusions in-house since their liquor license only allows them to serve the products they make, so it definitely looked special. read more

Had a great, safe experience here grabbing cocktails with a couple of friends. The outdoor space is great - shaded, with enough space between tables. The menus are viewed via QR code, but servers do come to take your order. Between our group we tried many of the drinks on the menu and everyone liked everything they tried. The only thing I wish they had on the menu was some snacks - I understand they're not a food establishment but I think even some pre-packed bar snacks would have gone a long way. The tour itself lasted about an hour and was very detailed - if you're interested in the process of distilling liquor, you'll be very happy! The tour also included plenty of samples - rum, gin, whiskey, etc. The tour ended near the tasting room where they served many creative and tasty cocktails.
