Also, I was extremely picky about my new tile floors to ensure they matched the entire rest of the house. My floors are lovely. Communicating with Chrales and the team (Chris, Marvin, and Oscar) was seamless. No beating around the bush and no overselling. Completely remodeled two full bathrooms and a powder room, gutted and replaced everything (new…read morefloors, tiles, vanity, toilet, etc). Both full baths had small tubs, so we changed one to a standing shower and put a larger tub in the other one. Met with seven contractors, choosing Modern Concepts/Charles was an easy decision. His price was fair, around middle of the pack, and he was punctual, approachable, and attentive - he was really listening to our requests instead of that fake, pretend listen. On top of all the moving parts in our main remodel, we also asked him to do random fixes and touch ups throughout the house like patch holes here and there, replace a light fixture part, change some GFCI outlets. No matter how big or small, Charles remembered and did every single one of them. Best of all, his quoted price remained the same from the day we met to the day it finished (alright, it did go up by $250 because we replaced the water supply angle stops, and asked him to drive out of the city to pick up two ridiculously heavy bathroom vanities). In a profession were it is a very real possibility that quoted prices may substantially increase as the job unfolds, I am very thankful for Modern Concepts' honesty and integrity for keeping their word from Day 1. Throughout the remodel process, Charles did a great job keeping me in the loop. I would stop by every 2 or 3 days to check on the progress, and every question or concern that was brought up, Charles was quick to address them. Whenever I was on site, any requests or questions I had for his team, they were always nice and willing to address them as well. His team is a good reflection and extension of their leader. Besides price, my other main concern was the practicalities of the remodel. My place has 3 floors with very narrow and tight angle stairs. Everything had to be stored in the garage which is on the first floor, so carrying it all up and down every single day was going to be labor intensive, to say the least. In the initial walkthrough with one of the other contractors we met, they literally complained the entire time about how difficult this remodel would be. Charles never had that attitude; his response to any and all challenges was simple, "no problem". It will forever be a mystery to me how he and his team carried the duo vanity with an attached counter top into the master bathroom. Once the job was near completion, we requested some grout to be touched up. Charles agreed without hesitation. Upon inspecting the results during our final walkthrough, I noticed some more areas that could use minor work. Again, Charles had his "no problem" demeanor. I was present the day his staff came to do the final touch ups and every spot I brought up to his attention, he fixed it with a great attitude. We couldn't be happier with the end result. The only problem now is that everything is so nice that we just want to look at it and not use it. The experiences I cherish most are those were you walk away with meaningful connections. In Modern Concepts, I truly feel that we've found a contractor for life and there is no question in my mind who we would call and recommend for all future projects.

The flooring remodel market in Southern California has honestly become frustrating. A lot of…read morecompanies try to attract customers with extremely low quotes at first, then ask for a large deposit, often in cash or via Zelle. Even worse, once the money is collected, the problems begin: delays, no work being done, materials not prepared, or even complete silence and no response at all. It leaves customers not only having to find another contractor, but also wasting time dealing with the mess and trying to recover their losses. Fortunately, I was introduced to Conch Flooring by a friend to handle the flooring remodel for my rental property. My experience with them was completely different. They were professional in material selection, project scheduling, and communication throughout the process. What was originally expected to take 3 to 5 days was completed in just 2 days, including floor leveling and laminate installation. I was very satisfied with the final result. It really reminded me that you get what you pay for. Conch Flooring does not rely on the lowest price to win business. Instead, they demonstrate professionalism through quality materials, efficient workmanship, and a responsible attitude. For me, the real value was not just the flooring itself, but also their commitment to quality and after-service support.

More than five stars!…read more Succinctly, we met with three or four companies to get an estimate all of whom were pleasant but, somehow, did not seem as though they were listening to what we wanted. It was different with Ammar of Kitchen Cabinet Express, Inc. After a brief introduction and a short discussion of our intentions, he got right to the point, walking with my wife, measuring and making notes and asking questions. What resulted was a reasonable estimate for the work to be done and a plan and drawings that exactly reflected our wishes. The deadline for completion was originally set for the middle of March 2026 but was completed two weeks early. Members of Ammar's team and contractors were professional, conscientious, and hard working. They showed up on time, accomplished what was scheduled for each day. As work progressed, we desired some minor changes which Ammar and his team were very flexible and responsive in accomplishing professionally and quickly. At every point - daily work and especially at the conclusion - the site was cleaned up immaculately and all detritus was hauled away instantly. Also, a great deal of care was taken to mask, cover, and protect the house, furniture, and existing fixtures from the dust and soiling that was occasioned by the remodeling work! This review is being written a month after completion as we wanted to take our time to let the "newness" wear off and appraise the overall experience. After this time for evaluation, we find the craftsmanship flawless, the cabinets and showers and baths installed beautifully and -- overall -- the incorporation into our existing home has greatly upgraded the whole affair. All in all, the results exceeded our expectations! We highly recommend Ammar and his team and, once settled, we will be having him back to take care of additional projects we'd like to accomplish.

If he sees something he doesn't like or feels wasn't done correctly, he has no problem telling his crew to rip it out and redo it until it meets his standards. That level of attention to detail gave me a lot of confidence throughout the project. Another thing I really appreciated was how organized and respectful they were of the property. Every day when they finished work, they made sure everything was cleaned up and their tools were organized in one designated spot instead of being left scattered around the property. Not once did they leave the place a mess, which was very impressive considering how long the project lasted. The project took about eight months to complete. Like with any construction project of that size, we had a few misunderstandings along the way, but Eddie was always easy to get a hold of. He was very communicative and always took the time to answer questions and explain things when needed. Something else that I liked was that whenever Eddie had to step away from the project, he would leave one of his sons in charge on site. That made it easy to communicate with someone who was there and knew what was going on with the work while Eddie was away.

Thank you, fellow yelpers, for recommending Paul Lauguico Cabinetry!…read more Paul and his team came in and totally fixed a job that another "contractor" had totally botched, which we were having a hard time finding anyone with the skills and courage to fix. Our kitchen was gutted, with half a kitchen full of partly done cabinets, half of a floor, half of a paint job and we were a month past our timeline and way over budget. Enter Paul. Paul assessed the situation, gave us an extremely reasonable price to fix the cabinets and set to work right away. Although he does custom work, we needed more pieces of cabinetry for our kitchen, so Paul opened an account at the place we had gotten our cabinets originally and got all the necessary pieces to finish it out. I was impressed with his professionalism in dealing with the cabinet company for me, the fact that his licensing and paperwork were so organized that he was able to get the account set up with quick notice, and the fact that he just made it happen. In less than a week. The work turned out amazing. Paul also worked with the tile setter we had subcontracted to solve a tile issue we were having (the lot on the tiles to finish out the floor was a sliver too big to lay next to the old tiles, yet too small to get an even cut). So there was another problem Paul solved, besides just the cabinetry. Then, he hooked us up with a granite fabricator and voila, beautiful counters. Thanks again, Paul. Oh, and if we call he will send someone to fix the crown moulding and baseboards that the other guy did not. So, after being taking advantage of by two other "contractors" who did not do their job but got paid for calling subpar subcontractors, Paul comes to do our cabinets, charges a very reasonable price, and ends up doing the work that a full on contractor is supposed to do: coordinating the job so that all goes smoothly, problem solving as things come up, working with the subs, and making things easier for us as the homeowner. Did I mention the cabinets are beautiful?!!!! I feel like we went from the Money Pit, to being on an episode of "Holmes makes it Right". I was seriously worried by the level of your work that your prices would be out of our budget, but you were beyond reasonable. Oh, the money we would have saved to have done it right and gone with you in the beginning. Everything completed on time and right on budget. Thanks, Paul! Your cabinets make us smile. I know I had sworn off contractors, but you changed my opinion. Will you be our contractor for our first real estate flip? If you are not snatched up by then, as like, a project coordinator for some huge corporate job? Your professionalism and communication skills are boundless. And the cabinets. The mess. Now flawless!
