They promise but do not deliver. They kept delaying the start time which caused a lot of stress. Installation is subpar and customer service regarding the poor job is simply nonexistent. They did NOT clean the subfloor. They did NOT replace the damaged tack strips as per contract. They didn't install the closet bottom railings properly. I had to fix them. Ridiculous! And to think Costco recommended this business is insane. Such a "bad taste in my mouth!" And they're NOT cheap. We chose this local business to install new hardwood flooring, as we were told in 2004 when we remodeled our home that it was the last time the original hardwood floors could be refinished (the wood planks get thinner with sanding). Thus, we were prepared to replace the floors. Jon visited our home to inspect, measure & give an estimate. On HIS RECOMMENDATION, EXPERTISE & ADVICE, we elected to have the floors repaired & refinished. He said the existing floors could be repaired & refinished one more time. We didn't feel overly comfortable with Jon, when we asked questions (especially since we were told prior that the floors couldn't be refinished again) his attitude came off as...I know what I'm doing, you don't. However, due to a neighbors recommendation & reviews, we still elected to go with LBFF's & Jon's recommendation of repairing/refinishing our existing floors. Martin repaired/refinished the floors in 4 days, they appeared to be beautiful. Within the first week we began to notice slats of wood that were supposed to have been REPLACED due to old termite damage, that were NOT replaced, they were varnished over it. My socks began to snag on wood slats that were not smooth etc. The wood filler between the slats began breaking away and leaving gaps that were NOT there before the refinishing. This type of damage is thru out the entire floor, not just a few areas. The floors are in worse condition now than before the refinishing. We called LBFF's, Jon came back out, his attitude was even worse on this date. He basically said the floors look fine, they will send Martin back out to repair the few termite spots that he should have replaced/repaired the first time. He stated they would NOT repair the cracks between the slats, "not their problem"because the floors are old and thin. We reminded him that it was on HIS ADVICE & EXPERTISE that we elected to repair/refinish the floors instead of putting down new flooring. Jon's demeanor & body language got to the point where we just wanted him out of our home. After numerous phone calls, we received a phone call from Jon yesterday, basically saying they would fix the few old termite damage spots that should have been replaced/repaired originally and that's it. He told my wife to stop yelling at him (she wasent), he said he felt we belittled him when he came to our home to view the damage to the floors. Really....we are two women in our 60's. As I said earlier, his demeanor escalated to the level that we asked him to leave our home without a resolution. The floors were repaired/refinished in October and this is still on-going, and they are falling apart more and more each day (wood filler crumbling out from between the slats). If you are female, ask to work with anyone other than Jon, it is obvious that he does NOT care to work with females (he knows more!). He wouldn't even look us in the eyes. We do NOT recommend this company at all. I will go further to say...Stay clear of Jon & this company especially if you are a female couple, take your money elsewhere in the LBC! read more

I selected this well regarded local company to refinish my hardwood floors last Fall. My floors were refinished in the early days of December 2023. The completed work is beautiful, and not the reason for the poor review. It was my kitchen floor that required refinishing. There were several high traffic areas in need of attention. The, directly adjacent, Dining Room did not need refinishing. I was hiring a professional to do this work. I don't really know anything about the process. It was my assumption that the finished floor would match with the current existing color, baseboards and connecting room. (Attached are photos illustrating the marked color differences.) I did bring the issue to the attention of the installer. There was never any discussion, or samples shown, of a choice of finishes &/or colors! I have had numerous conversations and emails with the owner regarding how to best remedy this situation. We had finally agreed that they would refinish/replace the baseboards, and that I would live with the color differences between the adjacent rooms. ....well, here we are 6 months later....nothing has been done! I get excuses about materials being back-ordered, etc., and no phone calls directed to me. Always, I must initiate. I can never recommend this company to anyone. I did interview 3 companies before choosing Family Flooring. I like to keep my dollars local. When you contract with them, you provide a credit card deposit. When their refinishing team completes the job, the office is notified and the balance is immediately charged. In the future, I will beware of this setup. Having final payment leverage is important in negotiating any discrepancy. I also had the option of contesting the charge, but honestly, I thought they would work this out amicably. UPDATE: The owner has contacted me. We have an installation scheduled for next week. I appreciate the quick response and effort to remedy the situation. FINAL UPDATE: the installation team arrived promptly at the agreed upon time and installed the new baseboards, that color match the refinished flooring. I have upgraded the stars because the quality of the work was very good. It was the communication (rather lack of it) breakdown and long delay in providing agreed resolution that resulted in a one star review. I suggest that all prospective wood floor refinishing customers be shown a sample board of available finishes to select from. read more

I messaged the company June 30, 2024 on FB and left a voicemail. Today is August 19th. I got a call today from Lisa wanting to know if I was ready to measure. She claimed that someone had called me on July 1. Checked my call log and there were 4 calls made that day. Two to a friend (1 incoming, 1 outgoing), one to my mechanic and one from Tennessee. So that was a lie. Of course there was no message either. Now let's think rationally. If a customer contacts you and EVEN IF you called them back...WHY would you wait SEVEN WEEKS to follow up? Of course, why would you lie to a potential customer about having called? I had been warned against them and was very familiar with them as they used to be right next to another business that I frequented. I ordered new Cali Bamboo flooring from Family Floors for my home remodeling project. It was agreed the flooring would be installed in two phases. Family Floors agreed to hold my flooring for the second phase until two bathrooms were finished. The first phase went well. I was very happy with the new flooring. The second phase was delayed when my contractor abandoned after eight months what was supposed to be a four-week bathroom remodel, and I had to find a new contractor to finish the bathrooms. Family Floors was advised of my problem with the contractor and told me the delay was no problem. A new contractor completed the project, and a date was set for installing the second half of the flooring, but there was one problem. Family Floors lost my flooring for the second phase. Their proposed solution was for me to pay for the lost material and purchase replacement material, which had gone up in price since my initial purchase! I rejected this solution for obvious reasons. Then they offered to sell me the replacement material at dealer cost, but I would still had to pay for the flooring they lost. I rejected this solution as well. After much arguing, I agreed to pay them $500 for "storing" the flooring they had lost, and Family Floors would replace the lost material at their cost. The replacement flooring was delivered to my house. The installers put down the first two planks, and it was immediately obvious that the new flooring did not match what had been installed earlier. I called Family Floors and told them the new flooring was unacceptable and that they should not, under any circumstances, charge my card! Justin Cisco took umbrage at the suggestion that Family Floors would charge me for a project that was not complete. He told me Family Floors in not that kind of company, then Family Floors charged the flooring to a credit card I had not authorized. I guess they are that kind of company. Jay Glatman, the owner Family Floors, insists that the differences in the two floorings--the original material is gray, stressed, and flat in finish; the replacement material is brown, uniform in texture with a glossy finish--were a result of normal variations in product manufacture. I maintain they are more properly ascribed to a lack of proper quality control at Cali Bamboo's Chinese manufacturing plant. (You be the judge. See the photo below.). Family Floors made no effort to locate compatible material. I have 18 boxes of mismatched flooring material sitting in my living room that Family Floors refuses to take back. I will be filing a complaint with the contractors board, and I have consulted with an attorney. Bottom line: Don't buy anything from Family Floors. read more

Family Floors is a very professional business. We saw several samples at their store, and they sent Steven Sam out to give us a bid (at no cost, unlike several other companies). He was very detailed in his bid, and his prices were great, especially with the COSTCO $ cards they give you if you say COSTCO sent you. They sent me samples, at their cost. They have excellent reviews. Unfortunately, I found the perfect color at another store (for $800 more! Ouch!). I am keeping their bid for future flooring needs in other rooms, and they will be the first company I contact. read more

We had Family Floors install vinyl plank flooring in our downstairs. We went through Costco and Family Floors was the company they sent out. Steven Sam came out to measure and provide samples. He was so patient and gave much needed advice. The day of installation began Geraldo (I apologize if not spelled correctly and his men came out and installed Vinyl plank flooring as well as new baseboards and carpeting on the stairs. The crew was fabulous!! They left the house free of debris and clean everyday they were here. They were all so pleasant and definitely know what they're doing. Cecilia kept us informed and called each day to see how things were going. Family Floors has a wonderful crew . I would highly recommend them to my friends and family. Thank you for such a great job. I was referred to Family Floors by my cabinet person and I'm extremely happy he did! My new kitchen floor went in today in about 3 hours Caesar and Jaime were excellent in moving my appliances out of the kitchen, explained everything to me as I watched, it was amazing they got the entire old 3 kitchen floors out and my new one in. I cannot say enough about this company and I'm going back so they can do my living area. We just had 550 sq ft of laminate purchased and installed by Family Floors through Costco. The 3 installers worked their tails off to remove old, stubborn tile and wood flooring and perfectly installed the new floor. Everyone we were in contact with through this experience was patient and friendly, including the installers. At the end of the 2nd day, the job was finished and they did an awesome job of cleanup and offered to help us put even the small pieces of furniture back in place. Our church needed our Narthex refloored. We received a recommendation from one of our members about Family Floors. What a mistake. They were very responsive for the quote and promised quick service. In their quote to us they contracted to remove the old flooring, lay the new flooring and put on a sealing coat. All of this was going to be done by November, 4 weeks away. Less than 1 week before they were to begin they claimed, they could not get enough of our tile in time. They would have it after Thanksgiving and after Advent had started. We delayed till after the new year. Once they started they said they wouldn't remove the old floor and would not charge us for it. Family Floors did install the floor with larger gaps then I would have excepted from a quality floor company. The fishing coat was never applied. Family Floors claimed our floor did not need the coating. When asked for documents on this they never provided it. They also did not remove any cost from our bill, because it was not itemize line item. When one of our members tried to question the crew, he was told they don't speak English. I call our salesman Justin about this. When I showed up their crew could speak English. Save yourselves a lot of problems and untruths. Stay away from Family Floors. read more

I have many things to say about this company but I will give you the short version. This review is long overdue but I'm still fired up when I think about the amount of money I chose to spend to support a local "small business" vs using a larger more mainstream store - Costco, Home Depot, Floor and Decor etc which ALL had lower prices vs Family Floors. The customer service in the store is wonderful that's what sucked me in. After you choose them - the rest of their staff - field sales guy and appt/installation department ARE TERRIBLE. They act bothered when I called. Do not return calls or emails within 24 hours and do not show up for scheduled appointments. Customer service is extremely important to me as I am a business owner myself. The floors turned out "ok". The crew left my home and driveway a mess. They left trash and all cardboard from flooring, extra flooring scraps etc for me to clean up. Real professional! They ruined and scuffed my brand new paint on the walls. My painter had to come out and fix several areas. Food wrappers and water bottles just left behind and thrown in my yard. Think real hard before you choose this company who I thought was going to be amazing since they are not one of the big guys but learned my lesson. Dear Owner - please teach your staff -ALL OF THEM that we the consumer help pay their salary and kindness, patience and communication is key or don't have a job in CUSTOMER SERVICE. read more

NO!!! We contracted with them for our LVP. It was wavy so we called them back to fix. Had to have an independent inspector come out. Jay, the owner, who is a liar, told us that Shaw would cover the material and they would cover the labor to replace. He gave us excuse after excuse as to what was happening on Shaws end. Finally called Shaw personally and they said none of it was true. Turns out Family Floors neglected to install the vapor barrier to save $. Jay refused to return calls. Just went downhill. Finally sent him an email telling him the gig was up and we knew what kind of person he really was. 20 seconds after hitting send Tina (the project manager) called us. I highly recommend Family Floors! Last year I purchased Mohawk carpeting for my rental property. The salesman really emphasized the lifetime warranty while we were negotiating the price. We came to an agree ment and my carpet was installed shortly after. When my tenant moved out 18 months later, there was a worn out spot in front of the living room chair. I had the carpet professionally cleaned and the spot was still there. I contacted Melissa at Family Floors, sent her a photo and my cleaning receipt. Melissa contacted me 2 weeks later and said that my warranty claim was approved by Mohawk. Today, I had new carpeting installed at zero cost to me. I used yelp to research floor installers and then visited each one in my list. From the moment that I walked in, I felt welcomed. The store staff, Tina in particular, was incredibly helpful in helping me narrow down my choices. David came and measured the area for the estimate. He was efficient and very knowledgeable about the pros and cons of what I wanted vs. what I might need (he's also an excellent raconteur). Even my dogs agreed with David's recommendation! I signed the contract, received a call to schedule the installation and waited. On the day of the installation, the installers came right on time, they were polite, personable and efficient. They helped me move some of the furniture and got right to work. Eddie and his assistant (sorry, I can't remember his name) were excellent. They worked fast, answered all the questions that I had and were fun to talk to. When I'm ready to do the second floor of my place, I will DEFINITELY use them again. I also like that they're a small business and support the community. After almost a month, I'm super happy with my floor and my 3 dogs agree. Easy to clean if they have an accident and quite durable (couple of things have fallen and not a single scratch). My friends have complimented me on it and asked about the company. They installed carpet in three bedrooms and they looked beautiful until... our daughter ruined the carpet in her room from bleach and other questionable items. So, we called Family Floors after six years just to carpet this one room. Thankfully, our carpet was still in stock. The costs went up a bit, but well worth having the same carpet in all the bedrooms. We were even given a Costco cash card, great customer service. The installers were in and out in less than an hour.
