This review is long overdue. I was referred to Gilbert by my barber. The floors at my house have a moisture problem which caused the engineered hardwood to warp, in addition to the water damage from a previous leak. The rotting wood also attracted subterranean termites. I had a major flooring issue that I could no longer hold off repairing. To demo engineered hardwood is not an easy task because of the glue that was used. I interviewed several contractors before deciding to go with Gilbert. At first I was only planning to have him install new plank vinyl flooring but since has a team that could do other things such as paint, cabinets, kitchen and bath, etc., I decided to give him a try. In addition to installing flooring, I had him remodel the rest of my house to match the flooring - paint, kitchen and bath, and recessed lighting. His prices were reasonable and the quality of service and workmanship was excellent. While price was a factor, I did not choose a contractor solely on price because oftentimes you get what you pay for. I went with Gilbert mainly because he communicates well and we have the same understanding of what I wanted to do. I had a good feeling that we could resolve issues if they occur. Some minor issues did come up as they do in any project but Gilbert took care of them without any reluctance. Would I use him again? Definitely. I contacted New Look Flooring based on their 5-star Yelp reviews, which they totally deserve. This is a local, family-owned business. Gilbert came to our house the next day, examined the rooms, gave us recommendations, and provided an accurate cost estimate the same day. We wanted 4 upstairs bedrooms converted from carpet to vinyl hard flooring, and the price was below what I expected. When the installers came (team of 3 hard workers) they completed the job on the same day and the floor looks great! I had water damage to flooring in my living room, dining room and bedroom. Gilbert gave me an estimate and had samples for me to look at. I was referred to New Look Flooring through a friend and I'm so glad I used them! This is a father son family owned business by Gilbert and his father and they were amazing and incredibly meticulous. I received several quotes and his quote was the most reasonable for a 2k sq foot house with materials and installation and new baseboard. This was my first home purchase so I was super picky and anal about my floor choice, so I went back and forth with Gilbert on different options. Gilbert had to come by multiple times in order to show me samples of floor colors and baseboard styles. The end result was amazing, I love the color and quality of my new floors. Their installation was also super meticulous and our floors are pretty level despite it being an old house that had a lot of leveling issues. Gilbert's dad along with a crew did a lot of the installation and they were able to paint the quarter round for our kitchen to a color that matched our cabinets perfectly. They spent probably 4-5 days demoing and installing our floors during the holiday season and even worked thru Christmas in order to get it ready for our move in. We had a lot of other issues and delays related to our painter for our house remodel which hindered a lot of the floor installation work but Gilbert was extremely communicative and understanding on the delays that kept pushing his team back. He also is super responsive because I had a million questions! My only qualm is that there were a few additional costs that we were unaware of initially that came up during installation such as we needed to install plywood to put our LVP floors on top of where our tile used to be, and we needed to add additional concrete for very bad unlevel floors. Gilbert was nice enough to discount those things as much as possible but I think it would have been great to know ahead of time that these were possible areas where we'd need to pay more, though that may be a standard part of construction and we just have no idea how it normally works. Aside from that, i definitely recommend for a high quality floor installation! read more
