I have shopped there for several years as did my old employer as a recommendation from me. Not only did they refuse to assist my disabled veteran husband with loading, they refused to stand by the poor quality product they sold with a solution even though they agreed to a solution. I'm out thousands that it will cost to solve this problem. Don't trust them. My previous purchases were with the previous owner from about a year ago. I should have never trusted the new owner. read more

Anytime I have a DIY project, this is my first stop. Super friendly, knowledgeable staff, great selection and bargain prices whether you need 2x4's or doors or paint or flooring. I just got a great deal on laminate flooring and Aurelio made it fun and easy to buy and load, and he and RayRay gave me some pointers on installation. Love this place, highly recommend! read more

Worked there for a year. worked 12 hour days 6 days a week for almost a year and got fired because it Was time for my raise. watched it happen over and over to people before me and not only that they are working people illegally not giving them 3 breaks a day like the law says. Watched a lot of shady stuff happen there. overall I think the owner is a snake so watch out shopping there! read more

Caleb was super helpful when we went in asking for a quote. Walked in without knowing what all was needed for a project. Caleb calculated all we needed down to the last nail! read more

Today I called Building Materials Bargain Center and asked if they had wood for bed slats and if it would cost to have the lumber cut to the right length. I told the person who answered that I needed 10 slats. He said it's not a problem and is free. Upon arrival an obviously angry sales associate told me that they don't want to cut wood that the person on the phone was wring. That they only want to make one cut per board abd that he didn't want to make multiple cuts on one board, but he would because the person on the phone said they would. Already off putting, but whatever. Then he told me to go find the 8' lumber in isle 2 and 3. I asked if I had to carry it up to the counter and he said no. That he just wanted me to look at it first. The isles are not well marked, the small pained number on the dirty concrete was extremely easy to overlook. When I returned to the counter obviously frustrated, the same angry sales associated showed me where the isle was. When I asked him what people usually use for bed slats he mumbled something and walked away. Totally not helpful and really unfriendly. Another customer commented at that point that they are not consumer oriented and I said to her that I had I terrible experience there. The angry sales person then started my yell at me across the warehouse that he was not terrible. It was terrible though. The way he treated me was embarrassing and humiliating. It's beyond my understanding why that business is so unfriendly and why they give incorrect information over the phone. As a new comer to Salem I think it's sad. Overall I don't know if it's the culture of the business or if it's just a poorly trained person, but I will gladly pay more to be treated with respect. read more

Eric there is super cool to work with. All other staff members - Roberto and others are very helpful always. Discounted materials and friendly staff make it very easy for us to shop with them. I would recommend anyone to go there and shop fro all your building/ material needs. read more

Not worth the few $$$ you might save. It the long wrong you will end up paying more. I witnessed first hand a male employee demeaning a female customer. No thanks read more

They don't carry everything, but if they have it, it's less expensive than anywhere else! I've purchased baseboard trim at a bit over $1 per linear foot. The wide 5.5" boards. Can't shake a stick at that price! This is a DIY store. Their inventory changes so you must go and peruse the place to see what bargains they have. Basic lumber prices can be obtained over the phone. Other than that, you gotta look around yourself. DIY baby! read more

Always a great selection and amazing prices. We bought a fridge for our garage, a main sbs fridge, and an over range microwave at unbeatable prices and in excellent condition. Also scored some amazing deals on pavers and other materials for household projects. read more

I got floors, doors, cabinets, paint, trim, bathroom vanity, the only thing I couldn't get because it was outside of my current budget was decking! But even that was externally low priced! This place is a one stop shop for any housing or remodeling jobs you may have and it is really really good materials! The staff has always been nothing but helpful! If you don't check this place out your robbing your own pocketbook! FYI that bathroom vanity pictured was only $195! Find something that nice priced like that I dare you! read more

the guys working with the appliances need to check them before they go with the customers. "Tyler" I think that's is how he spells it, went above and beyond to help us. He went all the way back up to Salem and brought us a new fridge when the one we picked out didn't work. The one thing to remember, test the stuff before leaving the warehouse. read more

Horrible customer service on the phone. Unwilling to answer simple questions and lacked knowledge about the difference of a range and wall oven and whether they had any in stock - which would take 10 steps to see. Super rude. Actually hung up on me. read more

Surprised I hadn't reviewed this business yet, as when I'm in the neighborhood I always drop in and do a browse, often taking notes. Prices can be attractive, as others have said, but my main reason for haunting this place is that they stock premium grades which nobody else seems to have. I've never seen them out of 2x4s and 2x6s graded No. 1 & BTR, their cedar decking is often clears, and today I saw many lifts of cedar fence slats, 6' x 5 1/2" x full 3/4" thick, most of them clears. Three dollars apiece, I think, but for the very particular builder I don't know where else in town I could find stock like that. read more

A few weeks ago, I purchased a banded bundle of railroad ties. Two young men with forklifts loaded the bundle of ties into the bed of my 2016 Dodge Ram p/u with the tailgate down. Once home, over the next few days, I unloaded the railroad ties. Once empty, I noted that the tailgate top piece of molded plastic was completely shattered. Also the top right was dented. So evidently while loading my truck, one of the forklift operators hit the tailgate causing the damage. I was on the opposite side of the truck while the loading was being done. So I didn't see anything. This date(08-02-19), I stopped into the business. I showed the person in charge the damage to my once nice looking truck. I told him that he might want to pass onto his people to somewhat more careful when their doing such work. He said that they should have had me sign a Release of Liability sheet, which they hadn't. He said he's had to recently talk to his people because they hadn't been doing so. Not once did I hear an apology, or anything else from this gentleman. Not a thing happened. Very poor way to treat a good customer. So my discounted railroad ties turned out to be very expensive. read more

This place has some good deals. Management worked with me on return issues and everyone had helped me locate items and load. A lot of items they beat everyone out of the water. read more

Worst place ever! Purchased twelve 3/4 inch plywood boards. They loaded 5/8 boards. When I tried to return eleven of them, they refused to give me a refund. While I would have rather never shopped here again (the owner was incredibly rude/condescending) I didn't want to lose the $220 I paid for these boards, so I accepted the store credit they offered. However, the owner refused to honor the store credit when I tried to use it later. I am now filing a formal complaint with the BBB. I have had nothing but trouble from this business and especially the owner (ordered a window, which came in late and delayed a remodel for weeks). Some of the employees are very kind (and try to apologize for the owner when he is out of hearing/seeing distance). I feel sorry for anyone who has to be subjected to such a toxic person on a daily basis. If you are wise you will stay far away from this business. read more

James Goings -- Hi there to all that shop at BMBC. This is my opinion of what happened. I called this company at 9 AM to get a quote on installation. So I came down here to pick it up and the gentleman that I spoke with this morning said the prices have changed. And he said that they got a shipment in this weekend so they had to change the prices. I said I talk to you this morning and you quoted me this price and now you're jacking up the price. He said and (this is my opinion)he said that's too bad. I have the right to change the prices anytime If I want. I said that's faults advertisement bro. You can make the decision on what kind of person this guy is. The information that I gave should outline this guy. I'll never do business with this company again. I don't know if this guy was the owner that I spoke with but he was rude and disrespectful. read more

Terrible service. First time in, guy behind the desk asked every customer what they needed EXEPT me. After waiting for 40 minutes, I finally got his attention. I had questions, which he made very clear that he was too busy to answer about his products. Someone else finally helped me. The man was apparently bothered by women. The next day I went back to purchase the last few items I needed. Same experience. This time, I watched as the men helped other men making larger purchases, I was ignored. All of these customers came in after I did. The manager told me that he would cut the board for me if no one else was available. I asked 8 times for someone to cut the boards in half for me Everytime I left, so did the saw operator. It took nearly 2 hours to buy 8 boards. After returning the following day to get 1 more board, the same thing happened. Manager said he would cut it. I waited over an hour while again, he helped every other customer with loading their purchases. I got zero help. I let the manager know it was ridiculous because I had been waiting while other later arriving customers received his unwavering customer service. I complained and he banned me from the store. This guy has issues with his mommy I think. Last time I go in when he us there. Good news is...its NOT his store. His bad behavior takes money put of the owners pocket. Dont shop here. Take prices and go to a big box where they match. This is why local stores fail, they forget who pays their salaries. read more

We are verified buyers of deck supplies and had a very positive experience. Chris helped us plan our deck and helped us throughout the entire purchase process. The manager treated us well and was accommodating. We saved lots of money and got excellent materials for our deck. It was very busy, but they are popular and the wait was within reason. We would recommend this company to all our friends and family. read more
