IF YOU ARE THINKING OF PURCHASING CABINETS FROM HERE... DON'T. PLEASE SAVE YOURSELF THE TEARS AND NIGHTMARE. Let me start by saying that MOST of the staff were a joy to work with. Now sit back and let me tell you about my NIGHTMARE. My home flooded and I had to do a complete remodel. I've shopped at Builders Surplus for many years so I decided to get most of my things here at the Garland location plus my contractor has a good relationship with this store. I went in and did a cabinet consulatation with Mark. He seemed to be very knowledgeable... SEEMS is the key word here. He will make mistakes that will cost you heartache and money when he shows NO COMPASSION for your additonal dollars you will have to spin. WARNING!!!! Keep up with all your paperwork and renderings. After I did the consultation I met with my contractor and I returned to make changes before Mark placed the order. One thing I was very adament about was have a "trash cabinet". I made the change and was given the printed copy. Before the cabinets even arrived I went into the store and told Mark I had a bad dream and even tried to pay to just cancel the order and start over but of course I couldn't. Well when cabinets arrived the dream/nightmare started unfolding. When my contractor prepared to install the cabinets he called me and said the cabinets were not correct. I sent him a photo from my phone of the rendering and he noticed something wasn't right. I called Mark just to find out that 2 cabinets were missing from my order. I had paid for them but they didn't get ordered. My contractor proceeded with what he did have and then I discover I didn't have the trash cabinet. I returned to the store and was informed that I NEVER ORDERED THE TRASH CABINET. After about an hour of going back and forth Mark said he would go speak with his manager (Trevor). Marked returned to tell me that the manager said there was NOTHING he was willing to do for me. He wouldn't discount a new order or do a rush shipping. The only thing I could do was REORDER AND REPAY for 2 new cabinets. Since I was positive that I had ordered I kept looking for the paper work and I remembered I had a copy in my phone. BAM... Got'em. Now both Mark and Trevor were looking might crazy and trying to still figure who to blame and even tried to say maybe it wasn't their rendering/copy. Trevors words were "well I guess with the proof she have on her phone, we have no choice but to order her a new cabinet". Not one apology, no empthy or anything. I returned on the following day and spoke with store manager Timothy Buck and he was a dream come true. He ordered the cabinet and made sure I got it that day by sending a freight company to pick it up. 5 stars to Timothy. Now after everything was installed my fridge wouldn't fit. Durning the consultation I advised Mark that my fridge was really big but he insisted it had to be 70 inches tall. He never took into consideration that there are hindges on top that would prevent the cabinet from opening even though I tried to tell him this during the consulations. Mark just kept telling me that "oh it has to fit because that's the height that's my computer". I took his word for it SINCE HE IS THE EXPERT... WRONG!!!. I was also told that I need extra molding and a side panel that I didn't need. My contractor couldn't understand why he even sold me some of this since my cabinets were completely finished. When I returned it today, Mark just said "oh well, we can't give you a refund". You OK'd it so now it's yours. It turned out to be $140 worth of items. He also said I had to order and pay for another cabinet $280 because it was up to me to inform him if his rendering was incorrect. I tried to tell him but he didn't listen but I'm the one having to pay. Please understand it's not so much about the money but if I sat down with an expert and was told I need the extra item and that my fridge would fit because it has to be standard when infact my fridge has extra hindges that the PROFESSIONAL CABINET EXPERT didn't take into consideration I feel Builders Surplus should have paid to take order me another cabinet. I've spent 13k in the last 30 days and Builders Surplus doesn't treat me like they value my business at all. I understand have policies and proceedures in place because I'm a business owner for the past 17 years. Sometime you have to bend a little, expecially when you wrong and the words "I APOLOGIZE" are not that hard to say when you wrong. I hope you all read my review and that it helps save you some heartache and pain. PLEASE BEWARE... DO NOT ORDER CABINETS FROM BUILDERS SURPLUS. read more

If you have ever tried to find an 8 ft exterior door then you might understand my excitement when I found this place. I spent a weekend calling and driving all over DFW looking for an 8ft door that I could take home the same day. Waiting three to four weeks for a door to arrive was not an option. Builders Surplus had a relatively large selection to pick from and could have built a custom door within 5 days. Luckily they had what I needed in stock. I was mostly impressed by the amount I saved. There was an associate (Alex) helping me from the time I walked in the door until the door was loaded onto my trailer. These guys aren't pushy with trying to make a sale. Alex took time to make sure that I was getting exactly what I needed. He spent close to 2 hours showing me various options and explaining the differences between steel and fiberglass. I arrived frustrated but left happy. read more

Customer Service Beyond Belief. We're replacing 3 exterior doors, so I went to this location with specific needs. I found door 1 of 3 in stock. Door 2 of 3 will be refitted to meet my needs and ready in a day. But for the main front door, they didn't have what I needed in stock. This is where my Sales Associate, Phillip went to work for me. He had the manager call, but couldn't find it at their other stores. Normally this is where any store would end the search, but Phillip didn't give up. He and his manager found the raw slab door I needed and will custom build it into the prehung frame to meet my needs - ready in 3-days or less. That's customer service beyond belief. read more

My experience there was most amazing. I got a new vanity and my customer service representative Joseph Daugherty was so helpful. I wasn't treated like a woman had no idea what I needed. He was very courteous and professional. I will bring my business there before going to H.D, or Lowe's since he gave me one on one time and consideration. He really took care of all my needs. I didn't get home without everything I needed and husband didn't have to go back for anything. I'd like take this time to say say Thank you to the company for hiring such a wonderful employee. Again Thank you , Wanda Peck Princeton, Texas read more

These guys are amazing, I came in to get a new solid front and back door and was immediately greeted by a truly knowledgeable and friendly young man Sabastian who took me to exactly what I was looking for. He took extra time to help me with my questions and make sure I was satisfied with my purchase. I can't say enough for the service I received from him he is a keeper. I love my new doors and at a great price I couldn't have beat. Thank you soooo much Sabastian. read more

I would definitely recommend this place especially with their great customer service and great selection of products. There was this one dude named Omar who was up in their kitchen design center he helped me out with some questions and he also walked me out to the rest of their warehouse to help me pick out a interior pine door i needed for my boiler room. Will be shopping again and will definitely come back to see Omar again for a kitchen remodel!!! read more

Needed some doors? Left with a new purpose in life. 17/22 would recommend. Shout outs to my man Eric. He was nice and super helpful, not to mention an absolute stud. He found me the right size door even though I had absolutely no idea what I was doing. I didn't even know I needed the door if I'm being honest. Only downside is Eric only works on Saturdays only hence why I had to take some points off. Otherwise great business! read more

I came here to buy 12 windows and I realized I had the wrong sizes on some of them I had to change them and go back and forth on the order and cancel out some windows I didn't want after all. I just want to say what a great costumer service they have they care more of you getting everything right instead of rushing you to pay. I want to thank Sebastian and Maria for being so patience with me. read more

We could not be more pleased with this store. The service that Derek, and all of the employees we dealt with, provided was attentive, knowledgeable and friendly. We purchased a granite sink vanity top on Saturday, April 1st. They took a lot of care making sure that it was protected and loaded it into our truck very carefully. Would absolutely shop here again. read more
