We were contacted by Bug Tussel about the possibility of high speed internet coming to our rural area so we attended the community meeting. The paperwork that they submitted even included our address as a future site for fiber installation. Fiber would be a MAJOR upgrade for our small business! Fast forward two years. Semi - ok internet, but ZERO fiber. There are two families and two separate businesses at our location. We reached out to Bug Tussel and they said they have no plans to run fiber to our location- EVEN THOUGH IT IS ON THEIR ORIGINAL MAP that they pitched at the county meeting. The two unoccupied neighbor houses have fiber installation hookups but we do not. Also, I have another complaint. When they came to unhook the internet (because we have switched to Spectrum for Fiber) they did not call ahead. We are in meetings with clients in Toronto and they ask for a bug tussel hook up. I would have had it ready if I knew they were coming - so the younger of the two goes around the back of my wife's computer and pulls it out of the wall. Then as he goes to leave her office he trips on one of the dog beds. He said a few things because he is a jerk. He wouldn't have tripped if his shoe laces were tied. Extremely unprofessional! Bug Tussel is a very poor Internet provider. Unfortunately where I live, in Harshaw, WI I don't have many options, so I've been using their service for 4 years. I started with their 10 Mbps Download Plan (Basic), but I consistently only had download speeds of 5 - 6 Mbps. So a year ago, June 2023, I upgraded to their Economy Plan which should be 15 Mbps download speed. Unfortunately, I only received those speeds for 2 months, and then the download speeds dropped to 7 - 9 Mbps. In that time frame, we have not added any additional devices to our home that would drain the speed. Their tech support can't solve the problem, and return my download speed to 10 - 15 Mbps, like I had for two months. Instead, they give me various excuses, but continue to charge me for the 15 Mbps plan. Another issue I have with Bug Tussel, is when the Internet stops working after 5:00pm, or any time during the weekend, they don't have any support, or way to contact the technicians to alert them the Internet is down. I have gone 2 days at a time without service, on several occasions, but they will not issue a credit for the downtime. Poor business! Also, good luck if they have an equipment failure. They will charge the customer for their faulty equipment or installation, and charge the customer a hefty price. At my location, I have an antenna on a tree by the lake and a cable buried in the ground from the antenna to the house. In four years the cable stopped working 3 times and they needed to replace it. We did not disturb the cable. The first time they replaced their faulty cable it cost about $125, the second time it cost approximately $200. In November of 2024 they charged me $425 to replace their faulty cable. I hope Oneida County takes advantage of the Wisconsin Broadbrand Infrastructure Project to provide homes with Internet providers who offer consistent Internet speeds of 100/20 Mbps. We need more options where customers can get the service they're paying for and the business stands behind the product they're selling. Bug Tussel is an AWFUL company. read more

Anybody who has even a small complaint about Bug Tussel needs to spend some time paying CenturyLink or StarLink. Seriously. Here in Iron County, Bug Tussel provides me EXCELLENT and consistent wireless service at a very fair price. And they consistently have timely, polite, and reponsiver customer service--indeed, among the best customer service of any company I deal with anywhere. My honest review is that, in 2023, it's a true pleasure to deal with Bug Tussel. read more

We've had Bug Tussel since we moved to a remote location in the Wisconsin River Valley 6 years ago. We have had NOTHING but tremendous service. Our phone calls get answered quickly and we get exactly the speeds we pay for. I check. The nature of a wireless signal means that weather plays a part in the quality of the signal. That's beyond anyone's control. I need to teach remotely and called to order a second receiver so I can work from an outbuilding on our property. They hand delivered that new box 4 hours after I placed my call, and drove from an hour a way to do it. GREAT SERVICE ! Thank you! read more

Generally non-responsive to service complaints. When they do accept my call they're quick to place blame elsewhere (repeatedly) and otherwise abusive. They take the money of the rural folks the profess to serve. Shame upon the owners. Pirates and profiteers. read more

We have had Bugtussl for several years and would recommend them. Before Bugtussel we had Wild Blue and Hughsnet sat. and they both stunk. You could not do anything on it - like watch utube or video's without using up your usage and the speed would get real slow. Now we can watch utube and Roku without any trouble. read more

Worst internet provider I have ever had. Download speeds a fraction of what you pay for. Service to repair your equipment takes days. Local office closed so only phone support. Go with any other Wifi in your area. read more

Don't waste your time with these people. They get you going at 2M/1M, then the signal drops by a third soon after they set the hook. I was told I would get the 2M signal, but after contacting them multiple times about the bad signal, I'm told a 1.6M signal is normal and there's nothing they can do about it. My signal is usually around 1.2M, 1.3M. I have to unplug their equipment a couple/few times a week to reset it as it drops out frequently. I read another review where someone said a tech told him they've overloaded their capacity. I'm looking for a halfway decent replacement. A halfway decent replacement would be better than them. read more

Horrible Policies. My account was suspended the same day due to my card getting declined, all because I had to cancel my card and get a new one and I forgot to inform them. I paid the bill the very next day , but I was informed in order to reactivate my account I have to pay a reconnect fee and the next months bill. read more

Living in the middle of nowhere, the only options I initially had for Internet service 9 years ago were dial-up and satellite (the devil). When Bug Tussel popped up several years ago with service off of a tower approx 1 mile from my house, I was so excited! Yes, the max speed available at the time was only 2Mbps (now 4Mbps) and it is more expensive relative to the options people who aren't so rural have BUT I am so glad I have Bug Tussel as my provider. I really don't know how large the company is but they certainly have a very, very small company feel and are extremely responsive. I hope this never changes! On the rare occasions there is an issue with my service, I can call their Support line and a human answers almost immediately. I report no service off my tower (I've already done troubleshooting internal to my own network so I know it's them) and within 1 min I am told if they are already aware of it or not. If not, they acknowledge the issue (they are not just phone monkeys) and relay that info to their techs and the issue is resolved very fast. I can probably count on one hand how many times I've had service interruptions in the last few years. Their structure for sales is a bit different than most ISPs in that they utilize community members as independent sales reps. I'd found out about Bugtussel via an ad hanging on my doorknob one day. Pretty quaint and a model I appreciate. Their employees? They are amazing! Always so nice and responsive! I'm talking a reply to an email inquiry from me in less than 1/2 hour (usually within mins and during business hours, of course). Continuing on the "small company" feel, they only recently (6 months?) implemented an online bill access and payment option. Everything prior to that was done via mail and checks. The online system is very bare bones with no special features or bells/whistles. You can see your bill and pay your bill, that's pretty much it but it works. If I had any wish it would be that faster plan options become available in the future.
