DO NOT use Rentokil or Bugout. This company bought Terminex in 2024 and refuses to provide communication to honor subterranean termite warranty we paid for at our home for 35 years. We want to sell our home and sadly can't get what we need from them. Reported to BBB and after communicating problem and follow up with company that I'm not getting anywhere the BBB closes the complaint as resolved! Total BS. Beware, they just want money and not resolve the issue with proper written communication so we can pass this warranty on to the buyer. read more

We filed a complaint regarding inaccurate and potentially deceptive billing practices with the BBB. The initial invoice we received totaled $1,395 and included charges for trapping and removal ($295), exclusion work ($300), and dig defense services ($800). We specifically requested that the invoice be revised to include only the trapping and removal service, as that is the only work that was completed. At the time of service, we were quoted $295 for trapping and removal by ADNAN (goes by Ado) in their billing department. Although the exclusion work and dig defense charges have since been removed from the invoice, the total amount due is now $750. We have not received an explanation for why the balance has not been adjusted to reflect $295. We have contacted Bug Out multiple times to dispute these charges and request a corrected invoice. Despite our repeated efforts, the company has refused to adjust the bill and has failed to provide a clear explanation for the charges. With these reviews, I can see that they won't be in business much longer. Had a mouse infestation going on. Filled out an online contact me form. Someone called me the next day. Was told service would be $179 or $189 (dont remember which) then the technician came out, spent 20 minutes total on the property and put out 3 bait traps. The next day, I look at my bank account and see that I am charged $667 for this. Not even close to what I was quoted. Called the technician who came out to get the customer service phone number...technician even said "it's like they charged you for 3 houses." Then, when on the phone with customer service, find out for a refund of the amount it has to go to a different section and they will make the determination if I will be refunded my money (within 48 hours). So, all-in-all they charge 3.5 times more than what is agreed upon and act like I am crazy for requesting my money back. Stating they only see 667$ in the system. They don't know who called me Sunday (22 Feb 26) to set up my appointment. How is it, that in 2026, you can take my $ instantly but I have to wait a week for you to refund something you didnt have permission to take in the first place? Before the awesome local, family owned Blue Chip Exterminators sold their company- it was great. Now after another different name- obviously sold out too- Bug Out has taken over. The company that owns them - has 17 exterminator businesses in 3 states- majority in Missouri. The techs are great. The business itself is terrible. In addition to everything else- their pricing, their difficulty and hoops to jump through to order a service... I was just on the phone for 30 min. trying to arrange service. I found 2 snakes in my house and they can't get a guy out to check for more for 5 days? mThis guy had no clue and kept talking in circles- I had numerous other things to do than stay on the phone- must be a call service. That was the last straw for us. We are going to finally switch over to other- after 37 yrs. in this home. Again- the techs were very nice, each time. Good riddens to this company. I am working with the VA on a home loan and this company cannot simply provide a form indicating that they have completed the necessary services the VA has required me to have done. My closing date has been extended twice and I will soon have to pay for another inspection all because I cannot get the required documentation from them. I have called countless times and I have paid for the services in full. Over $2,000. Wow! The acquisition of Blue Chip has led to a significant loss in value and reputation. To be clear, your technician Cory Z. is outstanding. He always has been. If it weren't for Cory, I would have already switched from Bug Out. Bug Out customer service is set up to fail repeatedly by the company. Despite their hard work, understaffing and overscheduling make it impossible to deliver quality service. My annual inspection has been rescheduled twice, with one instance occurring without any notification. The inspector (not Cory!) was understaffed and running 2.5 hours behind schedule, again without notifying me. I was told I would need to pay extra for carpenter bee service, despite it being included and a re-treatment. If I miss an appointment, I get billed. If they miss an appointment, do I get to bill them? If not, what makes their time more valuable than the customers' time? As a result, I have made more calls in the past two weeks than I have in the previous 12 years combined. read more

We have wasps in our home. We started out with Terminix and we were then handed over to Bug Out. We bought the works from them, but their efforts failed to solve the problem. No change whatsoever. As I seek to learn the next step, they will not return calls or texts. On 1/2/2025 Dominick said he'd talk to his boss and come up with a plan. It's now 1/16/2025 and we haven't heard from them. The customer service representatives take messages from me, but still no return calls or texts. In the meantime, I'm the one killing the wasps. read more

Used Blue Chip for pest services and now that it is Bug Out we've had a terrible experience. Tech came and sprayed and then I got a phone call saying he found "issues" and they needed to send another tech and we needed to be home for the appt. I took the afternoon off work and got a phone call from another tech asking why he was coming. Told him I had no clue as the lady who scheduled the appt said she was just the scheduler and didn't know. The tech (Nick) said he would call the original tech and find out. Bug Out did a recent inspection on my home. It was very poorly done. Jeff came and mostly sat on my couch talking. He did very little inspecting. They couldn't tell me if Bug Out bought Terminix or Terminix bought Bug Out. I had trouble getting clear answers as to whether I would have additional charges or not. Jeff gave me a lot of stories and run around. After many years with Terminix I'm now considering changing my service to Orkin. Orkin has a higher rating anyway according to Consumer Reports. Earl from Terminix told me for years that using the spray was against their company policy but when I got Kevin from the company, he used it all the time. Jeff and tech Scott said they never heard of such a rule, and Scott used the spray when he came this week. The powder that Earl used never worked. He would take about 5 seconds in each room with the powder puff. Then Scott told me that Earl was using it wrong! Agh! Terminix never had their act together and now neither does Bug Out. Am I being double billed by Bug Out and Terminix? What's their game? read more

The appt. was arranged by phone to spray INSIDE and OUTSIDE including mosquitoes for 179.00 My husband took off work to meet the guy and was told the 179.00 was for inside ONLY and that it would be over 400.00 to spray for mosquitoes and 56.00 per month. He said we didn't sign a contract...it was totally misrepresented! Why would we commit to a contract on a new company that hadn't even showed us results. The last thing I said to my husband before he headed to the house was don't let them try to up sell you and say things aren't included. This company wasted our time and tried to scam us. read more

Been using Blue Chip for bug service for years and worked well. We had squirrels move in to the attic, and they set traps (no bait) without catching a single one. Blue Chip guy came back after 1-2 months and said not sure why they bother setting traps because they never catch them?! Then why charge me $200 to set the traps for nothing?? I asked for refund and Blue Chip refused. Taking my business elsewhere - looking at Rottler, AJS or 24-7 as highly rated services. Will post there depending on how it goes. read more

The guys that came out for the mole inspections and treatments were all friendly so they get the stars. They may be good w other pest services but if you want mole removal, look elsewhere or do it yourself. I know they aren't easy but if it's your job and you offer the service then figure it out or don't offer mole removal service. My 1 acre yard looks worse now even after a monthly (annual) contract was signed. Runs all over, mounds all over. Canceled early and asked for a refund and was told the manager was out of town but would call me the following week. Guess what...no call, no emal and it's been three weeks. read more

I have never had a problem with Blue Chip. Whenever I have a pest issue they are out within days if not the next day. Today I called for service to take care of an underground yellow jacket nest, they will be here in 2 days and I won't be charged extra for the service. I would recommend them to anyone! read more

Meh. I've experienced better. From this same company. Just last year. Last year we had a whole lot of brown recluses and little one at home. So we called Blue Chip, paid for their "green" service and were very satisfied with the results. I don't think I saw another spider until a little earlier this year. So I called again this year and asked for the exact same program as last year. They came out and sprayed and....we still have spiders. I just killed an enormous one in the bathtub last night. And I have seen several more. Are the spiders this year just more numerous? Are they just that much more powerful than last year? Are they now immune to Blue Chips Green Program? Are they, gulp, immortal? Whatever the answer, god help us all. Oh, and I am pretty sure I heard little tiny (but powerful!) voices singing "Fighter" by Christina Aguilera. We've had a great experience with this company. If you're looking for a one and done treatment, this may not be the best vendor. They specialize in recurring treatments which is the best way to ensure your home remains bug-free. Along with being a customer we've had free termite inspection (all clear) and they will come do extra inside treatments whenever it's needed. Very pleased with them. read more

Poor service.. Guy comes out he couldn't remove the dead animal from my soffit because they can't remove soffit. They act like they didn't want to close the hole like I was told they would over the phone. They did a poor temporary fix and told me I should get a contractor out to put up a mesh fence around the 1/4 opening . Why did I have you come if you can't even do that? Then he wouldn't even check the main house attic. Complete waste of $200 a lot of fast talk and mice poison . Would not recommend read more

I had a concern with seeing ants in my bathroom and the technician investigated and treated the area. He answered all of my questions and really took the time to make sure I was satisfied. I called Blue Chip because I had seen spider webs outside....the technician sprayed and sprayed and sprayed, I think he sprayed much more product than I probably paid the wholesale cost for to make sure my initial application would be effective in getting rid of the spiders. I signed up for their on-going service. I have used other 'chain' brand pest services and the commitment to ensure great service/results was just not there. I love Blue Chip and also that it is family owned. You can't stay in business in a family owned company unless you do the right thing for customers. read more

If I could give Blue Chip zero stars I would. We have a newly constructed home and have had a mouse infestation for a year. We were using Blue Chip and they were unable to find a point of entry. We were at our wits end. At the height of the issue we had three active nests and 14 bait stations, including bait stations in our basement! The mice destruction in our basement included eating our carpet, chewing up our trim and rendered our basement unusable. After a year of finding no solutions, we attempted to get our builder to address our issues, and they required us to get a 2nd opinion from another company, who is not affiliated with our builder. Within 20 minutes of being at our house, this 2nd company found SIX gaps and potential points of entry that Blue Chip never found. When I called to talk to the manager, he was incredibly dismissive. When I told him that his staff was "stumped" by how the mice were getting in, he said that his people aren't required to tell us when they find gaps (that could allow mice access) and that a potential access point doesn't mean that mice are using it. Come on. So for the record, we paid them for a year to feed (and poison) mice in our house and not tell us about possible entry points. Be smart and take your business elsewhere. read more

I called Blue Chip on Thursday and they came out on Saturday morning. We were having a cricket issue in our new home and, with the crickets, came "healthy" looking spiders. The Blue Chip technician showed up right on time and was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. I could tell he knew what he was talking about and I appreciated that he took time to explain things to me. It sounds weird, but it was such a nice feeling to walk outside on Sunday morning and see all the dead crickets and spiders that had tried to invade my garage and home over the night. I was able to get an initial quote from this company from a representative who was professional and friendly... but then I couldn't get the company to respond to phone or e-mail for the next two days (a Thursday and a Friday) to actually schedule the appointment. Since our problem was fairly urgent (wasp nest in my daughter's favorite play area), I ended up going with another exterminator.
