Evening of Oct.28,25. Cold to barely luke warm food. Very minimal offerings, mostly empty food trays not being replenished. Hottest item was the soup, however hot and sour soup not very tasty. All might have tasted better if it had been hot. No offerings such as sushi, fresh cooked wok items. Nothing special about the desserts,even the ice cream was half melted. Overall decor extremely shopworn and beaten up. Place in desperate need of a redo. Bathrooms ancient, not very clean, overflow storage all over the place. $32.00/person before taxes. Came here during a business trip because someone recommended it. But eeks, I think not is the correct rank to put this place. When we went here, there wasn't anyone else in the restaurant, so I'm not sure how long the food sat out - but yikes. Everything was pretty old and stale. Weirdly enough, even the oranges were prob. the most sour oranges I've encountered. For a buffet, the selection of food was rather grim with not too many choices. Food was meh throughout - egg rolls were okay, but the "wonton" soup simply was just broth with floating pieces of wonton wrappers - there was no meat, wth?! Called for a take away and the lady was very sweet and helpful, so I placed my order. The won tong soup was good and still very hot. They forgot all my sauces for my egg roll and pineapple chicken. The pineapple chicken balls tasted of old oil and The vegetable chow men was good. The packaging of the take out was nicely taken care of. I'm just sad about my pineapple chicken not coming with red sauce and tasting off. read more

Stopped in Buffet Chinois Mandarin for lunch as part of 3 days tour. We were treated to their weekday lunch buffet. Our tour guide told us there are no better Chinese restaurant in the city. If true - Montreal, I feel sorry for you. The buffet spread, even from presentation alone, was enough drive us away. Every item was drenched in oil. Additionally, foods were almost never replenished. I walked around most of our time dining there with an empty plate. What I managed to pick onto my plate had either absolute no taste or carried a strange aftertaste. The only items I managed to stomach were their bread and a few veggie pieces from the soup (the soup itself was inedible). And it got worse - After our lunch, three members of the tour group suffered from severe stomach cramps and had to make an emergency rest stop. If buffet chinois mandarin is the best Chinese restaurant Montreal has to offer, I would recommend not to eat Chinese at all. read more

I was looking for a good Chinese buffet for my sisters birthday in december of 2019..(she regularly laments the absence of a good Chinese buffet anywhere near the neighborhood ) We ended up here...and drove 30 minutes to get here..let me just say I erased this place from my google maps and waze..and if it were possible to erase the memory of the visit altogether from my mind I would happily do so. The menu was overpriced. It was also very disappointing not only in the choice but also the quality and taste. Mandarin used to have a good reputation as a reliably enjoyable place to visit..any current reputation should scare you away from this place! The food was dull..boring..unappealing and a downright waste of both time and money. I apologized repeatedly to my sister for choosing this place ! I can truthfully say that this is the only restaurant that serves sushi where I actually spit out The sushi on my plate ! It was the worst ! Unless something drastically changes..heed my warning !! I used to come here often for family events, as they could accommodate large groups. The buffet has seen better days. They no longer serve alcohol. Out of Vichy, fulam or Mandarin you're better off at the Mandarin. They're always polite and professional. Of course the food isn't out of this world but what Buffett is right ? If you go earlier for dinner then you'll have a better selection with fresher food of course. You can pick up a take out container and fill it up and leave as well which I think is pretty cool if you live around there. read more

The worst experience I've ever had in my entire life, not enough food, mediocre service, the waiters are awful, the food is too oily, the restaurant is dark, and top of it the cashier wanted at all costs charge me the $20 tips and when attempted to gently explained that I'm not satisfied with the service overall, she said to me that's their policy and blah blah....plus I felt so embarrassed à front of my guests that I invited in . Out of the All-You-Can-Eat buffets in LaSalle, the Mandarin is the best one. They serve their food fresh for both the noon and evening buffets. After the noon buffet is finished, any leftovers get thrown out, unlike some buffets than just reheat them and serve them in the evening buffet (cough Fu Lam cough). The food tastes better, too (sorry Vichy). You'll have a nice selection of Chinese and American-style cuisine, with staples like dumplings, egg rolls, General Tao chicken and of course pork, beef and lamb. You might like the desserts with tarts, jello and ice cream to choose from. It's a bit pricey, especially in the evening and on weekends, so if you want to save, try to make it between noon and about 3:00PM for the noon buffet. read more

I have been here a few times, and I must say this is probably the best Chinese buffet in Montreal. Normally the food at buffets is stale and sometimes cold and lacking, but I can't get enough of this place! I always get the wonton soup (which is delish), and fill my first plate with equal heaping piles of fried rice and broccoli, and then add on an egg roll, some chicken on a stick and general tao. I absolutely adore the fried rice and broccoli; thinking about it now, I must admit is making me salivate. After downing the first plate, I pretty much made the same plate a second time around; except instead of the chicken and egg roll, I got more broccoli and shrimp (which you grill yourself). For dessert, a couple of fresh sugar doughnuts and a mix of cappuccino and chocolate ice cream. And so ensued the food/msg coma, which was well worth it. Just about the worst restaurant experience I've ever had. We ate there this past Sunday dinner. For the cost of $24+ after tax per person, the food selection was limited and poor quality. The service was non existent, I had to ask for water twice. The plates were not cleared away. When the bill was brought, the (manager? waiter? hard to tell, we never saw a waiter and the only time this man appeared and hovered was when he brought the bill) I paid the bill with my credit card and he pointed out the 15% tip that he expected to which I told him I was not including the tip. He followed me and my family out the restaurant all the way to the parking lot demanding the tip. Seriously? Never again. There are too many restaurants in Montreal to have to put up with this. read more

I called the restaurant because I wanted to order for pick up and after several attempts, and no answer, I decided to go to the restaurant. When I got there I had to wait for somebody to come and take my order, it seemed like forever. I ordered my food and they told me it would be 15 minutes so I said I would be back. I came back five minutes later and it wasn't ready so I waited and after another 10 minutes I looked up and I saw my order sitting on the counter.I don't know how long it had been sitting there. When I asked the lady if that was my order she asked me if I ordered anything. So I told her what my order was and she wanted me to be specific so that she knew it was me. I guess she never looked at me when I ordered in the first place! I brought my food home and couldn't wait to eat because I was so hungry, the rice was mushy , the spareribs were over cooked, and the food was cold, So I had to nuke it in the microwave. We are vegetarians. Even it's a buffet, the owner made some vegetarian spring rolls and veggie soups for us. Very appreciated.

The food is sub par and the service is even worse. We went around 8pm it felt like we were being served leftovers. The spare ribs were and mostly bone, the chicken chow mein was just bean sprouts and at the end they messed up our bill and still expected us to pay it, because the other waiter made a mistake. The mistake was not big and we ended up being 5 dollars more each, but it comes to show you how they operate. Instead of owning to the mistake their employee made, they made us pay for it. It just shows how much they care. It should not even be called a restaurant, felt more like a pit stop at a cheap gas station. read more

I don't understand how this place can call themselves a Chinese restaurant. We ordered one of their combos which was supposed to come with pineapple chicken and chicken chow mein. Upon opening up the order, we came to find that their "chicken chow mein" is literally a container of bean sprouts, with a few pieces of chicken mixed in. I called in to see how they make their chicken chow mein dish, and the guy told me they mix the noodles, chicken and veggies and put them in the wok. When i told him that thats not what we got, he told me to hold on and went to check. He came back with a new story saying its bean sprouts with some crispy noodles, and again i told him it was just bean sprouts. This went on for several minutes of him telling me to "hold on" when he went to check on it. I ended up getting off the phone with him and a few minutes later called back to speak with the manager. We went through the same thing of me trying to explain that we got just bean sprouts. Finally she told me it's because we ordered from the combo and the combo comes with a "stir fry" and that if we wanted chow mein noodles we should have ordered the actual dish and not the combo. I hung up cause i was pretty furious and they obviously didn't care enough to do anything about it. After getting off the phone i took a bite of pineapple chicken only to find that there was literally no chicken in the pineapple chicken, just the breaded outside and sauce and a couple pieces of pineapple. Honestly the worst "Chinese food" I've ever eaten. Waste of money. I suggest finding a proper Chinese restaurant that actually puts the proper ingredients in their dishes. read more

I used to like this restaurant and returned for the first time in a few years and was so disappointed. I though they closed at 10 so when I arrived at 830 and 10 minutes later noticed the emloyees were checking there watches and that the empty food wasn't being refilled I was disappointed they didn't tell me when I walked in. Being a vegetarian, I found little to eat, 'hot and sour' soup had tofu, there was broccoli, noodles and fried rice, ok, but hardly my experience of 'Chinese'. More 'Canadian-chinese'. Knives and forks, no chopsticks. The mixed vegetables were uninviting. The vegetarian sushi was acceptable. I did not eat much of the western-style salad - lettuce, tomatoes, olives, potato salad. $20 plus tax. The lady clearing away the plates was nice, for me, probably the most memorable part of the meal. I'm sure the prices are written somewhere, but based on variety and quality, I thought $20 about 20% too high, and will find other places to eat. read more
