I LOVE buffalo exchange, but I think this is personally my least favorite buffalo I've been to. Clothes here are cheap and I've noticed a number of items with stains/holes/etc being sold on racks. Items here just don't have the same quality I've seen in other locations. I sold to them recently and felt they were fair in their review and pricing of the items I brought in. I opted for store credit and thought it was a fair exchange. Be sure to pay close attention when they're checking your items because one of my skirt sets disappeared while they were going through my items. I did not receive credit for it and it wasn't in my bag of leftovers when I returned home :/ There were multiple workers going back and forth with my clothes (and multiple customer clothes piles on the table), so maybe it got mixed up somehow. If you want to sell/trade at Buffalo you have to be a FREIND to the buyers. I've been shopping/trading at Tucson and Portland Buffalo for years. I came in with two bags of things. They passed on $300 shoes and a $1,000 Versace sports coat (great condition). The girl didn't even know what frye boots were. DOH! They bought one halloween outfit and nothing more. But then one of their friends came in and she bought her ENTIRE BAG full of clothes!!!!! I kid you not! I took the $5 for gas money it took to drive there and I won't be back. read more

if there was a zero star option, id give this place that. the service is just awful, rude managers and the buyers just have no idea what theyre doing. theyre very picky about the clothes they accept and sell but meanwhile what is on the floor doesnt match whatever their "vibe" is and frankly, they all look like homeless clothes. on top of that, everything is so OVERPRICED, the style and quality is not what youre paying for. the buyers and managers change so much, theres never consistency at this place. the buyers will reject clothes that are more decent than what they already have which is ironic and they dont really know what theyre looking for. each person has their "own style" that theyre looking for which is contradictory to the whole store's style. did i mention, the buyers take SUCH A LONG TIME. so many times i have waited more than an hour just to be helped and on top of that, the buyers take SO LONG pricing your items. they dont know the values of the clothing that theyre looking at and they start asking other buyers on how much they should price it and start contemplating prices. shouldnt you know the pricing???? i have seen so many other customers that have just left because of the wait or leave with the same amount of clothing as they came with. honestly, save your time and go to plato's closet, youll find more trendy clothing there anyways. read more

What can I say...this place has been ruined. I kinda grew up in this place but I moved away for 15 years and just visited recently to browse and to try to sell some clothes. It used to be so vibrant and the employees used to be so awesome. Now? They were so rude. Not just to me but other sellers/shoppers as well. I noticed while waiting, the buyers would buy 80% of someone's items if they were cool/friends. It was so obvious. Before it was even my turn, I could tell my items were too nice for this place. Whoever is in charge of the vibe in there, should be fired immediately. I will never, ever return. I lived in Phx for 15 years and was a regular shopper at the ASU Buffalo Exchange, and THAT location is AMAZING!!! Vibrant, stylish, variety, cool and NICE employees. While at this Tucson location, I was given dirty looks like "why are you even here". Whole time, I'm wondering the same about them. Thrift stores are a reflection of their employees and what can I say, this place SUCKS. Shoutout to the male buyer who bought most of his friend's stuff (this was around noon on 11/28/23 in case the owner wants to hold its employees accountable-im sure there's cameras in there), had a 30 minute conversation while the other buyer attended to 6 other sellers in the same time frame. And to the sour face manager (I'm assuming, she's the one who vetoed every item the buyer considered buying), you should maybe get a phone job where you're not face to face with customers. I browsed around while waiting and was unpleasantly surprised by how awful the selections were and the high prices of some items, like the corduroy sweat pants for $31? What a sh*thole, honestly. There are other thrift stores that have nicer employees and better business (ethics). Again, I will NEVER return to this location. I've been shopping here for over a decade, and the place has unfortunately really gone downhill. There used to be entire racks dedicated to vintage, and now it's so rare that you have to try hard to find it throughout the store. Buffalo exchange also claims to be green, eco-friendly, etc. however, I am noticing more and more that this location specifically is relying on purchasing wholesale goods from China to keep their store full. Most jewelry, Fanny packs, etc. come from there- not to mention at least 40% of their clothing on the floor. It's disappointing to look through, and I go specifically out of my way to avoid anything that I figure out was brought in from wholesale by the store. The other issue I have is that usually it's a good thing when a Buffalo becomes a product if it's environment, but with this location, all you find now is old navy, SHEIN, Target, and fashion nova. Buying it used is definitely better than new, but if I wanted to only look at cheap, disposable, fast fashion, I'd go to the mall of Plato's closet. Went to Buffalo Exchange today and the young woman doing intake was curt and hurtful. I had J. Crew shoes, Frye boots, Calvin Klein jacket. She rejected everything I brought. I had 3 dresses which she didn't even look at just said everyone is wearing maxi dresses now. Could have fooled me! Me and my friends wear both and stores sell both. All were good names but she wouldn't know since she didn't even take them out of the bag. Needless to say, my friend & I didn't stay to shop and I will never go back. My sister is in the resale business so I know a little about it. She started Plato's closet among other concepts. So disappointed in this encounter. My favorite place to thrift by far!! I walk away every time with something unique! I've always had an incredible experience with the staff as well--Aiza in particular is amazing. I also really like to bring my clothes in--it's mostly worth it for trade credit, as you get less percentage in cash. But I never have trouble finding something to trade. Fun fact, Buffalo Exchange actually originated here in Tucson and their HQ is here to this day! I am an avid thrifter, and huge fan of Buffalo Exchange. I have been visiting Buffalos across the country, as I have lived in various states and am never disappointed. They keep a wide variety of trendy and unique pieces, from vintage, to brand new, to high end. Each trip to Buffalo is like an adventure, with treasures waiting to be found. The shop is large, so I recommend taking the time to truly dig around and checking out all areas. This particular location has some of the coolest employees, who always rock the most fun looks, while simultaneously complimenting my style *flattery will get you far with me people*. The shop is clean, organized, and always FULL of creative fashion looks. I love shopping sustainable, so Buffalo Exchange is usually my first stop before shopping any brand new / big name stores. I often find those big brand names for much MUCH less, while still in great condition. You can also sell your clothes here, which I do periodically. You can choose to opt for cashing out, or a larger portion of store credit! Please make sure to allow yourself plenty of time if you are selling what no longer sparks joy for you, as the lines are typically long, and they are selective with what they choose. Also keep in mind, this isn't a regular thrift store - it's a curated shop of used clothing and items! really not as bad as the reviews make it out to be. it's a pretty standard buffalo exchange, and a big one at that. easy to navigate layout, well organized, and staff was super friendly. yes there's a ton of fast fashion, but there always is at stores like this. nothing worse than what you'd expect, just dig through it to find the good stuff. there's definitely a decent amount of fairly-priced vintage, some of it separated onto a "vintage" rack and some of it mixed in. worth checking out if you're thrifting in the area! read more

The staff here is super friendly and helpful. This is a great place to find brand name clothes at cheaper prices. Sometimes you have to really dig, but it's definitely worth it, because you can come out with great deals. I once found an Armani dress for only $20! You can buy or sell. I once tried selling, but I don't think it's worth the time to sell, because if there's a line, it can take a while before anyone even looks at what you're trying to sell, and they're super picky. If you have an older tag as the namebrand, they can turn that away even if your article of clothing is in good condition. So I tend to just donate my clothes to Goodwill and to other friends that want it instead. Instead of using a plastic bag at checkout, you have the option to donate 5 cents to a charity of your choice. I love that they are environmentally friendly. I've been to a lot of Buffalo Exchanges back in Massachusetts. This one was by far the best! The prices weren't too bad (as far as Buffalo Exchange prices go) ... They had a HUGE selection, big store, okay size parking lot. I found many treasures, and the dressing rooms were open to the public, which was a nice change of pace, and the employees were very friendly. The employees here are great and are always nice when I've come in to sell. My issue is with the management. There was only one cashier with a long line of people that was only growing longer while the rest of the store was nearly empty. After 10 minutes I asked who I assume was the manager (woman in a floral skirt) if there could be another cashier. She said I don't think so but let me check. She was standing right next to the register the whole time seeing how crowded it was getting (don't know why she didn't just hop on a register). She sent someone else up luckily and I was proceeded to be cut in line by a customer. I know it's not a cashiers job to keep count of the line order but the chaos of it all made everyone in the room anxious. Buffalo has you covered. Buffalo used to truly recycle - to offer fine vintage and high quality used threads at reasonable prices. Now they work against recycling altogether by buying/selling disposable duds at heftier prices than discount stores. The savvy fashionistas who used to rule the counter have been replaced by gum-smacking kids who wouldn't know a Fly London from a flip-flop. read more

I need to clean out and sell, but just to lazy, by time i figure out what it is I want to sell the season can pass, it is best to sell at the 1st of the season. I stop by just to check out some things I might not be able to live without, or not. So disappointed. It's been 3 years since I sold/shopped here & things sure have changed. Was a time when you found fabulous vintage, great name brand jeans, diverse selection of cool & funky clothing, and THE best jewelry. Even the store atmosphere has changed. Window/in-store displays are less than appealing & jewelry cases have shrunk by a third. It's like they've lost the enthusiasm for being a cool, fun resale shop. The staff was perfectly friendly so that hasn't changed. I know they've downsized from 3 local stores to one, so maybe it's a sign of the times. I used to work there, but today I found myself hard pressed to find 2 items & honestly, I bought those because I want to use up my credit. Sad face :( read more

I think people should understand something I didn't before I walked in the door. I never leave bad reviews because every business has a off day. Even smaller is the time you are inside. That's why it has taken me so long to write this. For right at a Thousand dollars of merchandise I received apx $80. 00. I couldn't see what they were doing because its almost impossible when they have their backs to you. That is how I didn't know it at the time. I would have never allowed it to happen. They take a couple things and turn around to discuss the item and that is fine except, we are all adults and I don't think they could hurt my feelings by saying "oh it's horrible" to my face. Who cares? But this is where I lost track of what they were accepting. When they turned back around I saw none of my items on the pile behind them and they would put a item back in my bag. So when they said $80 I didn't know that they had taken so much, until I got home. $1000. Their prices are based on what they think they can sell them for. Less than 1%. They can't sell at all if they need the price so low the person selling gets nearly nothing. I would have been happier donating everything than selling to anyone for less than 1%. Either take the customer through what you kept and how much you are getting before they disappeared from view. Your customers deserve a choice, or hire people who can sell. Less than 1% is pathetic and the way they acquired them was ethnically undesirable. Something needs to change, that much is clear. Either show your cards or try more disclosure. You are set up for it but there is a huge hole in your system. I feel a bit like I have been stolen from or at the very least taken advantage of in the process. I wonder how often it occurs? I'm sure I am not the 1st or the last. They had their act well choreographed. Forewarned is forarmed. With this knowledge I would start making them keep what they choose on the counter until they say how much. I will come back and hopefully things have changed & are more transparent. I understand you are in business to make a profit. This is not the way to go about it. It fosters distrust & there is no reason to set up a adversarial relationship. Employees are rude, there's no restroom there, they are pricing their clothes more expensive than they were bought there was a cheap thin skirt that's worth five dollars but they priced it at 36 that's ridiculous and it's not even a brand skirt. I've been put in charge of clearing out my grandmother's closets, and I'm really glad that places like Buffalo Exchange exist. My grandmother is a product of the 1930s, 1940s, etc., and a lot of the items that she had in her closet were things that I would either never wear or were sized for a very petite 5'2 little lady. So in multiple trips, I've been bringing things over for the employees at Buffalo Exchange to look at. Let me be clear, they don't take everything that you bring. But they are always willing to help explain why certain things don't meet their needs--just ask them, they're so helpful! They've always been really friendly, very nice, and have given a thorough inspection. I think their buyers do a great job. Honestly, I'm saddened when I hear people whine about "they didn't take all of my clothes" and then negatively talk about Buffalo Exchange -- let's all sit down and be honest. They might not need everything you bring in, and they're not in business to take everything when they know some things won't sell. I brought in several vintage coats that they said weren't a style that sold. They explained why, offered me other options for where to take the coats or what to do with them, and I *LOVED* that they were so upfront, honest, and were beyond helpful in giving me other options and ideas. If you ever want to know why they aren't interested in something, ask them. If you don't like their answer, no need to complain and whine, take your items elsewhere. Seriously, thank you to all of the wonderful employees and buyers that have been helping me find homes for my grandmothers vintage stuff. Your insight and help has been very valuable! read more

I have never ever been so disgusted with what they gave me for almost $2000 of hardly worn clothing! $17.00! They wanted to give me store credit. I wouldn't buy a toothpick in that schlock shop! The people were very cordial. I feel robbed. They got a gorgeous suede coat, an appliqued turquoise coat, beautiful jackets, and beautiful blouses, skirts, and dresses. I have been a loyal customer to Buffalo Exchange all over the country for over a decade. I have always had amazing customer service and always felt welcome in the store. Today was different. My knee dislocated yesterday, something I have been dealing with my entire life (had two surgeries and years of physical therapy). I spent the day in bed yesterday and all morning letting it heal. I began to get stir crazy and decided to go to buffalo for some retail therapy. My sister and friend came with me to make sure I was okay. About 30 minutes into shopping, I was pulled aside by three employees and they told me that my sister, my friend and I needed to leave and were 86 from the store. I was entirely shocked and asked what was the reason that this was happening. The woman told me that it is private property and she did not have to give me a reason she simply said I must leave immediately. Three employees then surrounded myself and the two others I was with and said that we must leave now. My sister had sold clothing and they would not even allow her to get the store credit, they just handed back her clothing. So we did just that. I called back to speak to a manager and explained what just happened and that I was extremely confused and hurt by this incident. She explained to me that customers had complained because I had "strange behavior" and was "dozing off." I then told her about my recent medical issues and that was the reason I was limping and I was drowsy because I was prescribed pain medication for my injury. She apologized about the way it was handled and said she would speak the the other employees about the situation. I am extremely upset and angry with this store and how the situation was handled because I am a very consistent and loyal customer and felt that I was treated with absolute disrespect. I would have at least appreciated to be pulled aside and asked if I was okay, rather than be harshly told to get out of the store in front of other customers. I hope buffalo exchange can do something to make this situation right, because it is my favorite place to shop in Tucson, but now I feel extremely disrespected and almost humiliated to go back in. -Caitlin read more

To begin with this place stinks... No, no, I'm not being derogatory for the sake of a dramatic review this place literally stinks, make that, reeks of stale cigarettes, and to a lesser extent desperation. I walked in a few months ago, in the middle of winter, with a few barely ever worn J. Crew coats to see how much they'd offer for them before I went to all the trouble of listing the coats on eBay. I queued up in line behind a college dude who had what appeared to be a sack of laundry on his lap and waited... A delightful headache formed while I waited thanks to the omnipresent stench of smoker as I tried to think happy, friendly thoughts towards the young lady who I assumed would be eyeballing my outerwear. She glowered back at me. "Oh goody!" I thought to myself as I waited for this disgruntled hipster to size up my offering. Thankfully, she and her single co-worker moved at a snail's pace and I got to bask in the ambiance of the store. Well, to it's credit this location does everything it can to SCREAM thrift-store at you while it forces you to listen to music that makes you think "I bet this is what they used on Noriega during those psychological operations." Eventually, the college fellow in front of me dumped his giant sack of clearly less than desirable clothing on the counter and left while Hipster #2 sorted through it. I'm sure this is the sort of behavior that results in the attitude I encountered from every single staff member but hey, it's not my fault. And so, many, many nicotine soaked minutes later a new Hipster arrived and I was gestured up to the counter... No words were spoken. Nothing was explained. No instructions were given. I stood there for a second. She stood there. I moved my coats towards the counter. Still nothing. I smiled and waited. She poked at them. Perhaps, checking for live animals and then said "You see, we're not really taking winter anymore... Because it's almost the end of the winter. It'll be hot soon." (It was the second week of January.) I waited. She turned the coats over a few times. Then she looked at me. I smiled and waited. "This is a really nice coat." I nodded. She left. This puzzled me. I waited. Luckily, the college guy showed back up, clearly excited about the prospect of the huge cash offer he would no doubt receive for his clothing. I watched as his heart sank when Hipster #1 said they wouldn't be taking any of his clothing. Then I listened to him mutter something rude and leave. Again, no wonder moral is sky high but still not my fault... Finally, my hipster returned and said they wouldn't be taking anything that day but to hold on to the coats until September because that's when they take coats. (Yes, because if I don't want it now, then surely I want it to take up space for another year only to return and go through this debacle one more time.) Anyhoo, the moral to this story is that I sold the coats on eBay for more than I what I bought them for, Tucson had a record breaking, pipe freezing, cold spell a few days later which lead to my newly formed "Hipsters Meteorologists" theory, and you couldn't pay me to walk into Buffalo Exchange ever again. read more

Wouldve given zero stars if i could. TERRIBLE customer service and absolutely ridiculous policies implemented during corona virus. Took in over 50 items worth well over $100 (good shoes, brand name polo shirts, and nice tshirts) and was told they didn't like anything so we got ZERO dollars. When i asked if i could come pick up the clothes they said no it was already in a donate pile. I could have gotten at least $100 with all the items i took in at a different location (i always have a good experience in Phoenix). I will never come back to this location and encourage others to not sell their clothes or shop there either. read more

In one way, I love that they give back to the community and all that, but there is also a cliquey, pretentious, snobby vibe that radiates through out their store. Everything looks well kept and the store looks clean. Their selection caters to HIPSTERS and people who want to appear like they time-machined to 2014 from the summer of 1988. Not too happy with this place. I come here when my sorority has date dashes and I need some cheap clothes that I usually end up altering dramatically and then never wearing again. Regardless of why I go in there, I've never found a good deal on a cute outfit. I sold a bunch of my clothes to these guys because I couldn't fit them in my car at the end of the school year. My roommate gave me some clothes to go sell for her (she lost like 50 pounds, good for her!!), so off I went to Buffalo Exchange. They gave me something like a dollar for each shirt, each pair of pants, and they wouldn't take anything khaki. I'd rather go to Twice As Nice: they have a wider variety of stuff to look through and they'll buy back almost anything. read more

I really can't understand this place. it's so frustrating everytime I go. it's a long wait to get your clothes checked so meanwhile i go shop around. I have never bought anything from here because they don't have the best stuff really and not a good selection of actual cute things to buy so it gives me hope that they'll take a few of my things. But no they never do which I have never understood because not to gloat I usually like to get name brand things such as free people and steve madden brands that people i'm sure would like to find discounted and they never take anything.
