I just got out of a bad experience with a dishonest auto repair shop in Winchester…read more I had used A1 in the past & was happy with their service then, so I decided to go back to them to check the condition of my brakes on my 2016 VW GTI. After A1 checked the brakes out, I got a call back from Randy saying that everything looked good & no repairs were necessary! What a pleasant change from my last experience. I would highly recommend A1 Auto Service Center! I'll be using them from now on with any auto repairs I need to have done!

Now, I will tell you, we have patronized their establishment since we purchased the vehicle for regular maintenance, and they have always been wonderful. However, it was not until we were in real distress that the true value of this establishment shone through! Ben Shabib has been working with us from the beginning, and he is truly a Godsend. In addition to knowing my wife and I BY NAME and greeting us with professionalism and respect EVERY TIME, he PERSONALLY took an interest in the status of our repair job. Regardless of what vehicle you drive, A1 is truly one of the best service centers I have ever known. If you have car troubles, and are within three states of these guys, it is WORTH THE TOW to get your vehicle to them. I could go on, but I am worried about running out of space in this review. Thank you, A1 Auto Service Center, and WELL DONE!

If I could give a lower rating than one star I would. Avoid this garage at all costs. The mechanics…read moreare without a doubt the most incompetent and questionable people that I have ever made the mistake of letting touch my truck. I have always done the maintenance on my truck myself but a few months back my oil was due for a change and my wife and I had to make an unexpected trip to Pittsburgh for a family emergency. So I went against my personal code and decided to go to a garage and unfortunately "George's Tune Up" was the only place that could get my in the next morning. When I arrived I should have known not to turn my truck over to them but as I said we had to be in Pittsburgh that day and I did not have time to do it myself. My appointment was at 8:00 a.m., I arrived at 7:45 Andy the owner (I'm assuming) showed up at 8:20. He was driving the same type of truck as mine (which was in rough shape) and when he got out without so much as a "hello" he pointed and said "I'll give you $50 dollars for your wheels and rear bumper". It was at this point that I could tell that he was high. His eyes were blood red, he was slurring his speech, and he smelled of marijuana from 10 feet away. Again I knew that I shouldn't turn my truck over to this guy but as I said I had to be in Pittsburgh that day and the clock was ticking. I thought "well the comment about the wheels and bumper must have been a joke" (it wasn't, by the way), and he obviously partook in taking illegal controlled substances, but I pushed my worries aside thinking maybe he I said just a manager or supervisor and that he doesn't actually work on the vehicles. (He does I found out) Anyway to make a long, and very agrivating story short I took the truck to Pittsburgh and back but I noticed I that it was running a little hot. So when i got home I checked it out and it was at that point that's I found power steering fluid in my radiator. This ignoramous was actually so out of it that while topping off my fluid levels he added power steering fluid into my radiator expansion tank. It still has me outraged and as I said this happened several months ago and it's taken me this long to write a review because, frankly it took this long to calm down from the whole experience just to keep a level head while writing this review. So to sum this all up don't ever go to George's Tune Up the best thing to do is handle the maintenance yourself if you have the time and know how. If you can't I would strongly recommend taking a short drive out Baltimore Pike in Cumberland, MD to Twiggs automotive they're really the only mechanics in the tri-state area that can be trusted not only to charge a fair price but to also complete the job correctly with no worries of mistakes, such as adding power steering fluid to the radiator. I hope this's review helps to save someone from the same headache I got as a result of using George's Tune Up. Thank you.

He fixed the noise and replaced a front headlight in less than an hour. He explained what he was doing and showed me the cause of the noise. It was quick and efficient. I was in and out in an hour, only because they had to locate my tires, which were in a different area (whoever pulled them the day before, placed them up front instead of where they actually do the replacement). I had to take a brief work call, after I was done, they came over and said I was all done, checked out and went about my way. Several technicians checked on me to be sure I was being helped and check out was simple. "Oh you pre-paid, here's your keys, have a great day". It was even better watching one of the technicians be patient with an elderly woman ahead of me who was counting her change for her purchase (I've learned not to interrupt and ask if I can pay on their behalf, I got chewed out a couple of times and some elderly view it as an insult because they have the money to "pay their own way"!). So he gently waited while she counted out the 0.89 change as part of her purchase. It was precious to watch and knowing that these guys are supportive, friendly and patient. I'll come back every time for tire repair!

They waited until they were finished to inform her of the added charges. They took our money and sent her on her way. She did not make it to Cumberland before realizing one of the was showing 17 psi. They asked her how many pounds of air pressure she would like in her tire. After she called me and I told them it should be the manufacturers prescribed 32 psi they miraculously discovered that a previously working stem needed to be replaced. They also told her the best they could do is put a generic stem (not guaranteed) in. She would also be placed behind six other customers. Will we use Sears automotive in LaVale, Md again!?

Being as though I was still 2.5 hours from my destination, the closest auto shop I could find was Walmart, who didn't carry the size tire I needed (19"). They recommended I tried Sears, which was my second stop. Upon my arrival at Sears I was greeting by a gentleman named Rodney, who was, from the start, extremely friendly and knowledgeable. Upon investigation, he informed me that they didn't have the size tire I needed in stock either, and, given it was Memorial Day weekend, they wouldn't be able to get one in for a few days. Given my desperation, Rodney did everything he could to try and help track down a tire so that I wasn't stranded. He made a few calls and truly went above and beyond for me. If it weren't for Rodney I wouldn't have gotten to where I was going. He deserves the ultimate praise for his kind heart, diligence, and superior customer service skills. Sears landed a gem with him!
