We were deeply appalled by the blatant discrimination and hostile treatment we experienced at this establishment. What should have been a standard service appointment quickly turned into a humiliating ordeal due to the actions of an older mechanic on staff 6/8. From the moment we arrived, the unprofessionalism was staggering. The mechanic made snarky, derogatory comments about my husband to another customer right in front of him, and then deliberately ignored my husband's presence until he was forced to step forward. Even then, the mechanic refused to greet him and simply snatched the keys. The situation escalated unnecessarily when the mechanic became aggressive, falsely claiming our car's windows were illegally modified and tinted. Despite my husband remaining completely calm, polite, and explaining that the windows were factory-standard, the mechanic used it as an excuse to double down on his hostility. It was entirely clear that this was not just a case of poor customer service, but targeted bias. No paying customer should ever be subjected to this level of disrespect and malice. If you "look different", I strongly advise you to take your business elsewhere to avoid being humiliated by this staff's ignorance. Management seriously needs to look into their team's behavior, as we will never step foot in this place again. read more

2019 suburban 90 K failed inspection for leaking struts and front tires belts showing I had it checked out by anotheer shop. NO oil leaking on struts, no steel belts showing. This is the second time in past that they fail this vehica.l last year fail for top tint on windsheld. Do not recommend getting your inspection done here. I have a 2022 f250 with 66k miles. Just went to the dealer for a 60k mil check and had nothing wrong. Went here for my first inspection and they said my right bottom tie rod is worn and needs to be replaced I asked him to show me the test he did which was the way the book says to. But all I saw was the steering assembly moving and I told him I'm not seeing what he said was wrong. So I got my failed inspection report and paid. Went to pet-boys Later that day and told them I wanted a second opinion and if it was worn then I would have them order and replace the part. They did a full inspection and they could not find anything wrong with the tie rod or anything on the vehicle. Would definitely not recommend going there I don't ever put reviews on business but I could not let this slide. read more

There are not words adequate enough to say how pleased I am with the service team at Clem's. Let me also preface this review by saying I have been to 4 different mechanics in the area trying to solve problems with our car. The first mechanic (Pep Boys) completely overcharged us and I knew that something was wrong with the work done. The other shops quoted me absolutely ridiculous amounts to fix these things, so when I called Clem's for a quote and it was less than half of the other quotes, I booked as quickly as I possibly could. They also ended up finding out that Pep Boys had put the wrong axle in my car, which was causing one of the problems. They supplied me with pictures and proof of the mistake So I could get retribution from Pep Boys. Finally after four months of misery I found a mechanic that has reasonable pricing, actually cares about their customers, and values satisfaction! i've been using clem's garage for the past 3 years and have been very happy with their service and price. i first heard about them on npr's car talk with click and clack years ago and they were very highly recommended.. i started using them ever since i moved to the area. recently, i had an emergency and my car wouldn't start. within 30 minutes clem's tow truck arrived. it was a friday and they were fully booked so i wouldn't have my car back in a few days. they said they'd try to squeeze me into the schedule... my car was all packed with stuff as i was going out of town. they called the next day to say it's ready and billy, the owner, picked me up at home within 10 minutes and drove me back to the shop. the bill was less than i anticipated. read more

Nope. I've done business with them a few times and I'll attempt to embrace brevity while delivering the full summation of my experience. The first experience was with the towing service and the next was with the service center. Both were terrible. My fiancée drove her Subaru through some water in a roadway in December and the water was deep enough to flood the car leaving us stranded. We called AAA The tow truck driver refused to hook to the car because it was in water in December. I hooked the car myself. When he pulled out out he insisted on starting it, and did so. The car was sputtering and stalling with obvious water in the engine and he tried to leave us there. We had just had to hike 4 miles to get cell service so I refused to be left with an unreliable car and made him tow us. He complained constantly about having to come out late on a weekend, as if I chose his career. A couple of years later, after hearing a few good things about their service center, I scheduled an appointment for 4 tires, an alignment, and a synthetic oil change. I always change my own oil, but I was pressed for time and paid for their top tier oil change, to the tune of over eighty dollars. Everything seemed fine until the next time I went to change my own oil a few months later and couldn't remove the drain plug. Not only did it roll with my wrench, but I took it to another shop (because clems wouldn't give me a Saturday appointment on more than one occasion, conveniently) and I watched them try in vain to get the plug off. They couldn't. 8 months passed with me topping off my oil due to a decent rear main seal leak, and eventually I took it back to clems, taking a day off work, only for the owner, billy, to call us liars because it had been so long between oil changes. Furthermore, he lied to my face and said they didn't use that type of oil filter so someone else did it. It is certainly the very filter they put on my truck. He did say they could fix my truck for 700.00. Do not trust this shop. Their ineptitude is only surpassed by their total lack of customer service. Pay more upfront and pay much less later. read more

Apparently if you are a good ol boy you don't have to wait in line. Would not give these guys your business for any reason. And for the people who cut line-screw you. I am only reviewing in relation to auto inspections- I have not had any other work done , but I will say that if you need an inspection, you had better either be first, or bring lunch and a good book! The inspector is very polite, as are the office people, but the length of time I had to wait was beyond the pale. I think I was the 4th car back when I first arrived, at 10:30AM, I left with a new inspection at 2PM! I would have left and gone somewhere else, but I figured by the time I found a new place, and got in another line, I would be back at square one. I was told by another waiting customer- do not have any idea if it is true- that some people "make appointments?" for inspections, so they may come before others who are waiting in line. I waited for 1 hour 22 minutes in line to get my inspection sticker, only to be turned away due to high demand. I have gone to Clem's for inspections before, you sit in you're car and wait in a line sometimes that snakes around the corner. I try to keep my business local. I won't go back!!!!! After 82 minutes in line a service person informs me they can't get to me and the car behind me because they leave at 5:00. Then he puts the blame on me stating "you had the whole month to get the sticker, not my fault you waited all month" How about informing cars/customers as they pull in line? How about not having me waste 82 minutes when you could have stopped the line at the car ahead of me and not had me sit there so long for nothing. That is POOR customer service! How about an apology, not excuses, not acting like it's my stupidity for sitting in YOUR line on a busy day. POOR customer service! My cars will be inspected and pass at another local business from now on. Any business that treats customers so rude will eventually fail. read more

Need a tow and lockout service, I contacted the dealer, who referred me to Clem's. The dealer stated they used Clem's all the time. I contacted Clem's, was greeted by a professional and friendly gentleman. I explained my plight, and wanted to know what figures I would be looking at in cost. He gave me the figures, which were very reasonable, and assured me he would take care of it immediately. He also recommended I confirm with the dealer that my vehicle would be heading there. Took Volkswagen in for a simple car inspection, failed inspection which we knew it may. Turns out they broke rear brakes when inspecting them, and never bothered to explain this before we drove the car. Little to say we are lucky to be home after such a fiasco. Used them for years, but never again. The last trip in they failed my vehicle for a full brake overhaul that was done the previous year. Unfortunately, I didn't remember we had done that same work one year prior to the month. The vehicle was a spare vehicle in our family that was only used for 8 months prior to the inspection. It was a few weeks after the repair that I found the previous receipts showing it had been done less than 2500 miles prior. It was a complete lie. Never again. I took my truck to clem's because the alternator belt was slipping. They had replaced the alternator what I thought was several months earlier so I figured that they would cover it under warranty. A simple tightening I figered. Turns out it had been alot longer than I thought like 16 months but they said they would cover it anyway even tho the warranty was only for 12 months.. Turns out the belt was stretching and they replaced it free of charge. What more could you ask for? They are the only ones that will work on my vehicles from now on. read more

Sad, really sad. We have been taking our cars to Clems for years and between our cars and my parents we have been patronizing Clems for over 30 years. We took our truck to Clems for an inspection and had the misfortune of having to deal with Stuart Cooper. I was probably 5 or 6th in line and was there over 5 hours. Long story short the person before me and the one after me thought it might be time for him to take a long vacation, he appeared to have a very large attitude with no obvious provacation. He let his customers to know how little he thought of them. I understand inspections are not a big money maker for the garage, but you should know your regular service customers probably bring thier vehicles for inspection as well. read more

I'd give less if it were possible. Went to Clem's for years. Took a vehicle in two years ago and it failed inspection for brakes. They wanted to do a full brake job including rotors and emergency brakes. I was terribly busy and let them do it. A few weeks later, I found the receipts where it was done one year before to the month. That brake job also included rotors. The job on my vehicle was a complete scam. Never again. read more

I went for a State inspection. It was busy, but they were very quick and nice. Well, a few months later I go to my regular garage to get an oil change and the tires rotated and the locking lug nut tool is no where to be found. I had to have regular lug nuts put on so I could get tires rotated. Not to mention I'm lucky I didn't have any tire issues happen. I stop into Clem's to ask about the tool and the guy at the desk was terrible. His response is they have a routine and put back the tool. Did you look? (of course I looked through car twice as well as my garage looked several times) he grabs my lug nut and goes into back and comes out and hands it back and says i don't see anything. I mentioned, I knew it was a busy day for them and he just kept saying well they have a routine and always put it back. I told him well you didn't on that day. He didn't care at all. I will never recommend that place to anyone for any type of work. The attitude sucks. I visited a family member in this town, had a problem with my car and the family member recomended Clem,s for the repair. I,m also a retired mechanic and know the price of parts and resonable labor. They changed the part that was bad, without calling me back and telling me the cost of the job, I called two days after to find out the status of my vehicle. I was told the vehicle was done, plus they had to change another part that was bad. which was a surprise to me since i drove the car there, and the car would,nt have started if that part was bad. Anyhow i expected a bill of at least $250. ( remember I,m a retired mechanic and service manager in the automotive industry ) I almost shit my pants when I was told the bill was $670. This auto shop is a rip off shop for people who dont know about cars, a shop like this gives mechanics and auto repair shops a bad name. Dont know if my out of state tags had anything to do with the bill, But I will deffinately not recommend this shop to any one passing through this area for any automotive repair. read more

This is the absolute worst company I have ever dealt with. My car broke down on the Friday night before Christmas. I call them Saturday morning and the said go ahead and have it towed here but we can't look at it until Wednesday and I said Wednesday will be fine. I called on Wednesday afternoon to see what was wrong and if they could fix it and they said they ain't even gonna look at it until maybe Friday because I hope no appointment. Their words not mine. So I called Friday and then they said maybe the end of next week until they will look at it so I said I need my vehicle and I will have to have it towed somewhere else and they said WHATEVER. This is real professional. So Saturday morning I called AAA and they had Clem's tow my vehicle and then they towed it to the wrong place. This place SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!! These guys are the biggest bunch of shysters that you can come across in the car repair business. Paid full price for four new tires on a 2008 white chevy uplander van. These assholes put retreads on it and failed the inspection on it because they said my tint was too dark even though my windows are factory window tint. They proceed to try and convince me to replace all of my windows in the van. Took my KIA 2002 Kia Spectra for a routine inspection and the car comes back missing a high beam, a low beam and for some reason the oil cap was missing. And I have also had my 1992 ISUZU Trooper in there three separate times. The first time it came back from Clem's the vehicle ran good for about 3 days before the engine starting screeching again and come to find out they didn't even replace the belt. Second time I take it back to point out their failure. My vehicle comes back still without having the belts replaced and now all of a sudden my e-brake doesn't work. Then after the third time I pick my vehicle up my vehicle runs for approximately three days before I realized that the transmission had been tampered with by their "trustworthy" mechanics. My '92 Isuzu Trooper now needs a complete transmission overhall because of these assholes. My mistake was allowing my father to take my vehicles to them. I am reporting these people to the Better Business Bureau and am considering taking considerable legal action against. I have stone cold evidence of the blatant fraud and misrepresentation that this crummy bunch of auto shysters are pulling on unsuspecting people. Beware of this auto shop like it is the plague.
