Nice décor, but customers pay for it by getting food that is generally good, not great, with portions seemingly sized for children: if they disappoint a small eater like me, they're definitely too tiny. After paying $32 for what amounted to a snack for two people and leaving hungry years ago, my girlfriend and I haven't returned. That meal was not an isolated example; before that on numerous occasions, we regularly paid through the nose and felt shafted elsewhere, with being gypped leaving a bad taste in my mouth. I may return if I win the lottery or have a stroke and forget about other restaurants offering larger portions of better food at lower prices. I wish there was another local sandwich shop besides Buds. They are very overrated sandwiches and the wait is usually 15-20 minutes once you order inside. Don't go into the drive through unless you have 30 minutes to spare sitting in your car. We were the only customer at the drive through and now I know why. read more

I've been coming to buds every summer since they opened and have always liked them. However,that being said, I can no longer recommend this place for anything other than a "Dining Experience " gone bad. What is apparent is that the owners, not being there, have hired teens for the summer. Generally, I'm totally all in with that. But the lack of adult supervision and apparent inability to get a hamburger out to a table for 35 minutes is unacceptable. Especially during the Friday 7 pm time. When your not even crowded! I shot my insulin, waiting for my meal, didn't get my food in time, and had to eat something quickly. I then had to go back to the counter and grabbed a yogurt with 5 or 6 berries for an additional 4.50$. Outrageous. That really screwed up my entire evening. Not going back. read more

I hate giving such a low review for a small business, but my experience here was just not good. You walk in and it throws you off cause they have a shop like setting and you were expecting a restaurant. After getting over that you get the feeling that there aren't many health inspections or that things are often overlooked. But I was starving and we had to give this place a chance. Unfortunately I was right. After a few bites into my sandwich I found a long piece of hair. Little hairs I find more okay, I shrug it off to dust or something that can't be seen. But this piece was very long and I don't know how you could have missed it while making the sandwich. I lost my appetite after that. But before I lost my appetite, the sandwich was just average. Felt like cheap packaged lunch meat, average sauce that isn't anything special, and sorta stale bread. Didn't feel home like at all. Also, we were sitting outside and one of the employees took out the trash that was near us. Trash smells bad and it was an unpleasant couple of minutes that I felt could have waited till we were done. But all in all, I don't want to "ruin" this business, just make it known so it can do better. read more

I visited Bob's for coffee twice during my stay in Traverse City. It is busy so I suspect either the food is good or there is no where else to go. On the latter point this is the only place that has espresso for miles so Bob's probably does have the local the market. The Coffee was not very good and the effort behind making coffee and greeting the customer was mediocre. I gave Bob's two chances to meet my expectations and the coffee didn't reach the bar and the servers looked put out. I can't comment on anything else they do but having experiences the service and coffee i will not be going back. read more

Terrible breakfast. Eggs: one normal, one cold and hard like rubber Toast: awful Bacon: greasiest ever Hash Browns: Non-existent -- the cashier told us they didn't prep the potatoes the night before. LAZY LAZY LAZY We have been joking about those bad eggs all week. I have never been served a worse egg for breakfast anywhere, and to have two, one OK and one SO bad is absurd. Took the family to Bud's during a visit to Interlochen Arts Camp in early August. GREAT atmosphere--they have tons of interesting things on the wall to look at, from fishing to winter/ski to music to etc. It was great to visit in the summer, with patio tables outside, big windows inside to sit next to. Several kids from the camp were there grabbing a bite, and adding to the atmosphere by giving amusing names when ordering their sandwiches (so when the order is called, the clerk calls out "Gandalf!" or "Shrek!" or whatever name they gave). Bud's has a big fireplace, with tables and checkerboards next to it so I can imagine that this is a very cozy hangout in the winter, as well. The restaurant has a little "gift shop" with fun Michigan trinkets, music-related items, scarves, jams, mixes for dip, etc. and it's fun to look at everything while you await your order. We ordered sandwiches for dinner, that we enjoyed a lot. Chicken salad sandwich was delicious, good mix of chicken, crunchy veg, and mayo. The guys enjoyed their Fanfare and Encore as well. But best of all, we ordered drinks for dessert--thanks to Yelpers, we didn't miss the Chocolate Shake!!! TERRIFIC. We also got a rootbeer float, and thought it was super special as well. Reasonable food at reasonable prices for the most part, although chicken was overcooked and dry in chicken Caesar wrap. Service tonight was miserable - 50 minute wait for food AFTER a 20 minute wait in line to order it. Restaurant staff was indifferent to our situation, and ignored our request to speak to a manager. Bright spot was a busboy who noticed us waiting for an extended time and offered to help. My bad for not seeking him out afterwards for a personal thank you. Might try this place again to see if this was an anomaly, as there are few decent eating spots in the Interlochen area. read more

My daughter goes to IAA so we go here all the time. The food is pretty good, but the service can be slow and sometimes you can get forgotten altogether, which wouldn't be so bad except that you have to pay at the counter when you order. Also, the owner's are staunch right-wingers who insist on having Fox News on in the dining room all the time. read more

Very over-priced and geared towards tourists. Go down the road to Earth & Hearth for better food and service. (That's going to be my next review.) I used to be a repeat customer. The food is not bad at all (most is just down right good) but the service is hit or miss. One day it was four minutes after whatever time they stopped serving their breakfast quiches. I was in line that long to order. The cook absolutely refused to give me any. I left and have not been back since. Like I said, as a repeat-once-a-week customer with my family, I expected a little better treatment. Not so. Also, I was bothered by all the 'Jesus-y' and conservative books on the shelf. I'm a Christian but I don't like forcing my beliefs down others' throats. Also, the incessant Fox News on the screens made me want to gag sometimes. I had to plug in my headphones and look away. There are alternatives nearby, though. The owner is from Chicago, I believe. So I stop in other more local places when I can to support local businesses. It's an easy place for the Interlochen kids and their families, I guess. I'm glad to see there are more places springing up around there. read more

Cherry blue burger is a great idea and pretty tasty. The drive thru is a little slow but really good coffee and chai lattes. It has a nice patio and it allows dogs on the patio. read more

Food is good. They do offer gluten free wraps and pizza. They are a bit over priced. But since it really the only thing around they can. The inside is really cool with lots of random things to buy. The food is good and the staff are friendly. I do enjoy the place :) read more

Very happy with my meal. I got the caprese gluten free flatbread and it was delicious. I don't often like chunks of tomato on top of my pizzas but their's was nice and tender. The building and shop are fun to look around. Service was very friendly. Good place for vegetarians. read more

Very good, very fresh sandwiches, generously sized. We liked their ice cream, breakfast entries with a good quality coffee, and the nice & welcoming young crew. The restaurant is self serve with both indoor and outdoor sitting. The most convenient place near the Interlochen Arts Center. A great place to take out from. Having dropped my son off now three years in a row for camp at Interlochen, my wife and I were under the impression that Bud's was only an ice cream parlor and almost went back into Traverse City for lunch before leaving town. It turns out that Bud's is everything you could want - breakfast, doughnuts, burgers, wraps, and more. All fresh and delicious. I had the steak sandwich which was above average and my wife had the Encore sandwich which she said was delicious. I washed my steak sandwich down with a very good chocolate milkshake. If you're in the Interlochen area, Bud's is a great choice for a quick bite, a relaxing lunch on the porch or a cozy place to gather with a few friends. read more

We stopped here on the way to a concert at the school. We were pleasantly surprised by the number of choices available and the quality of the food. We ordered the Ceaser Chicken Wrap and the Encore, as well as the cherry lemonade. Bill came to just over $19. Our friends got the specials-cherry wrap and cherry salad, both of which were extremely tasty. Great place to stop! I like Bud's. They have really nice staff and the service is solid. There are a couple veggie options for breakfast and lunch. Open WiFi, a fireplace and a cozy dining area make for a good spot to nestle down for awhile. I'm not sure what to make of the item on the coffee menu named Ronald Reagan. BEWARE OF THE DRIVE-THRU! Went there for donuts, a black coffee, and a white chocolate mocha. The mocha took FOREVER to make because the staff kept taking care of the customers inside--even as new ones kept coming in. When the mocha finally came, I made the mistake of asking for a lemonade for the kids. The girl looked at me, mumbled something, then went to help a new customer inside. We'd already paid, so we just left. They need a better system of maintaining some balance between inside and the window. We used the drive-thru to SAVE time. Donuts were decent. Realized after a bit that my coffee cup had a crack on the bottom, so I ended up with coffee-filled cup holders. read more
