We were visiting the area and stopped by for lunch. We had a decent lunch here...ordered sandwiches and salads. Nothing super special, but acceptable. I went back to order a coffee. After ordering one coffee, the screen prompted to leave a tip. Okay, I can do that for good barista service. I gave the tip and swiped my card. Then...I was handed an empty paper cup and told to get my own coffee from a carafe across the room. The carafe was nearly empty and the coffee lukewarm, so I went back to the counter to let them know. He just said "it hasn't been filled for a while". Didn't offer to fill it or get me hot coffee. I wasn't too pleased about that.

A great place for breakfast on a cool morning. I liked their coffee so much, I went back for more and bought some of their beans, too.

Thought this would just be an ice cream and coffee place, but they had a lot of lunch options -rubens, egg salad, chop salad, pannini. Cozy booths inside or enjoy seating under cover outdoors. Due to the many options, the ordering required some patience, but food was delivered quickly. Friend loved his turkey sandwich. I had a hot Italian wrap, grilled just enough to warm up the ingredients inside.

Ever since I moved to Interlochen I've been a huge fan of Bud's. On Thursday nights you can listen to the amazingly talented Jim Hawley play in the evening, and on Wednesdays you get a free donut with your coffee. The food is outstanding; I hate having to choose between my favorite margarita flatbed pizza or a honey ham and Swiss panini. Dessert? Ice cream, frozen custard, or a selection of pastries and homemade cakes. The coffee is some of the best in the area. The staff are friendly, courteous, and timely in getting your food out to you. My favorite place to eat and hang out since I moved to the area. If you stop by on Thursday night, my housemate and I are the ones playing Gin Rummy and singing along with Jim.

So much high hope for this place. We came on a weekday early afternoon during the end of summer. The place was completely empty. 1. Staff was rude. This is important to me in the food business. My family and I were made to feel like we were inconveniencing them. 2. Usually poorly trained staff can be overcome with excellent food. When the food is 50/50 it's hard to overcome first impressions. Especially at the expensive priced food. I would have given two stars but the place looked nice inside. We ordered: the pizza- good Chicken wrap - good Salad- not good, rubbery. Trekker w/soup-ok but good with soup Chili- ok Buds chicken salad- not good, Bland. The food was adequate at best and largely wouldn't have left a review as it was not a memorable experience. It could have been amazing and I guess I was mostly upset that I brought the kids up for afternoon lunch and some device time and well they advertise WiFi and it just didn't work. We followed their instructions and even elevated to the supervisor and nothing. I'm leaving this review in a hope that management/owners will see what's going on day to day and conduct some retraining to make this a great place.

Corn beef hash for breakfast was great. Lots of hipsters hanging out watch movies on computers though, so seating may be sketchy.

Bud's is a great place to just chill. You can get some of the best coffee in NW Michigan there, and the cheesecake is the BEST!!!!

Instead of going into Traverse City and paying $753 for a cocktail, come to this local joint and get some good food and drinks for a fair price. It's a good spot to watch a sporting event, too. Good vibe that feels very homey.

If you're looking for something out of the ordinary or to compare with Traverse City restaurants…read more(as others have wisely noted), this is not your destination. If you're looking for a quick-no, I take that back (more on that in a minute), but large portion of food and a huge selection of beers and cheap cocktails (relatively speaking, compared to CA, $5 for a Guiness?...that's a deal, and $8 mixed drinks!) you can head here. I do have to give them the benefit of the doubt that the place seemed hugely understaffed, with an entire patio of probably nearly a dozen tables with only one server. But wait, she wasn't running the kitchen, so maybe they were understaffed back there? Anyway, while we were seated promptly and our beverages came out quickly, our food took a good 45 minutes. Really? Throw some chicken fingers in the fryer, some fries, some fish and chips? How hard is it? The place was busy, but not hopping. I don't know how it took that long but the only saving grace was that it was all hot and obviously hadn't been sitting at the pass under a heat lamp (or not) and freshly prepared, and the portions were HUGE. It was all tasty and in a this-is-salty-and-delicous-and-I-know-it's-not-good-for-me-but-I-want-to-keep-eating-it sort of way. Like really good fast food. Each of our dishes, the chicken fingers, the fish and chips, the fried chicken sandwich, were enough for two. Even if you're really hungry, any of these were probably a 1,000 calorie plus meal. I'm not here to give nutrition advice, but this was just an obscene amount of food for a single human being. Generous with the fries, generous with the protein. Again, the kind server who was scrambling just to keep up with clearing tables was obviously doing her best and was exceedingly apologetic about the wait time. So the two stars off are not for her, but for the average food quality and the lack of management as evidenced by the slow food service. If you're at your leisure, looking for some everyday American favorites with most of it probably coming off the back of a food service truck but still tasting pretty good, this is your spot. I would go back, but only when I know I have at least an hour, if not more, to dine and enjoy a beverage or two.

Slabtown is an…read moreabsolute 'must' for any burger lovers visiting TC; especially in the summertime when you can sit outside on their porch or surrounding patio. It's an old house that has been transformed into a burger destination. The inside is cramped, especially in the order area when they're busy, and indoor seating is tough to come by at peak times. The service has never been anything short of excellent on our visits. The staff is welcoming, helpful, patient, and friendly. Service is quick, even when they're slammed. Phenomenal burgers, O-rings, tots, and sweet potato fries. The Northwood's DRAFT (not fountain) root beer is a perfect pairing with their burgers. Slabtown's menu of specialty burgers is enormous and the BYO options include different protein choices and excellent GF buns. I've tried many of their burgers, but have to say that the Slabby Patty on a pretzel bun and the Pungi's Pepper Patty really stood out as a couple of my favorites. For a really sinful (and unhealthy) treat, ask for the gravy tots. Oh brother...insanely good but definitely a guilty pleasure. We've sent tons of our friends and family here, and I can tell you that every one of them has thanked us for the recommendation and raved about their burgers. So what are you waiting for?
