Stopped out there this evening for dinner. Not sure why people were complaining about their service, our food arrived within 10 minute of ordering. You order your food at the register and they bring it out to you. We ordered their cheeseburger, pull-pork sandwich and a kids burger meal with drinks , came out to about $26. Not bad for dinner for 3. The pull pork was really tender and flavor full and so was the cheeseburgers. Really impressed with the food and the atmosphere. We also had their ice cream which was really good. Definitely would recommend this place to anyone who's in the area. read more

Buds is a must see if you are in the Interlochen area. What used to be the old town gas station, Buds has been transformed into the sweetest coffee & ice cream hang out in Northern Michigan. Polished and beautifully decorated, yet maintaining it's old-time feel and small town charm, BUDS offers a variety of comfort foods from soups, sandwiches and salads (made fresh on-site), ice creams (both hand-dipped and soft serve), coffees and teas, and a delicious variety of pastries baked in house everyday. There truly is something for everyone here! They are open seven days a week from 6:30a-11p so there's plenty of time to stop in and relax. I particularly enjoyed the vintage instruments and old family photos that decorated the walls, as well as, the telephone booth and working radio from the 50's in the back of the seating area. They also have a gorgeous stone fire-place, reaching from floor to ceiling, that decorates the middle of the seating area. The warm, woodsy decor fits in perfectly with the Interlochen setting. I simply LOVE this place. The owners are welcoming and extremely accommodating, just adding to the small town charm. In short....you have to experience BUDS for yourself to truly appreciate it. Warm and inviting atmosphere. Gereat soups ... try the Tomato and Gorgonzola Cheese soup. The BBQ Pulled Pork sandwich. The ice cream. The warm fireside tables, the free wifi. Fantastic place to be for dinner when it is so warm inside and snowy and cold outside. read more

Great staff. Cute place. Needs a separate line for merchandise when it is super busy. Also, would be better if they used real chocolate for mochas and hot chocates instead of powder. You can taste the difference. read more

I went here because I read a review on Yelp that said they had bubble tea, I happened to be in the area on vacation and I was craving some. It turns out that as of August of 2013, they no longer have bubble tea, so the review I read is outdated, but I still really liked it. To my surprise and delight, they had a sign by the road that said, "Free ice cream for Alyssa!" That's my name! I have seen signs like these a few times in the past, but I never thought my name would be on one!! I chose the mint chocolate cookie ice cream (I don't remember its official name, it was something like "Scout's mint cookie). It was really, really good ice cream. I normally don't even like ice cream that much. I also had the veggie flip sandwich, which I really liked as well. It reminded me of the sandwiches at Olga's Kitchen, which I really like, but I liked the sandwich at Bud's even better. It had havarti cheese, hummus, and a wide variety of tasty vegetables, it came with a pickle and some chips, and it was very delicious. My family enjoyed their meals too though I don't remember what they ordered. I highly recommend this place! read more

Love this place! My husband, who is not big on pancakes, ordered the raspberry pancakes and they were delicious! I had egg, ham, and toast with the best ham I have had in a long time! Several coffee flavors, decent prices. A real winner and very popular. Cute decor and store as well. read more

This place has it all - great food (from a bowl of hot oatmeal to really good burgers like the olive burger or the cherry bleu burger to fresh soups and wonderful sweets), friendly service, cool stuff to browse and buy, and on Thursday evening, great local music talent (Jim Hawley). I found Bud's while driving by to the nearby Interlochen State Park. Checked the Yelp reviews and most are seemingly positive. We ate here a few times because driving and dealing with the downtown T.C. traffic is just too much. I think the best meal that I had was the breakfast Panini with eggs, Havarti cheese and avocado mayo. I also ordered some pancakes with cherries, pecans and bananas that were absolutely fantastic. No problems with the service and a shout out to "JillZill" for providing wonderful customer service. One of the previous reviewers wrote that the owners are right wingers who always have Fox News on. That made me laugh because I am typically suspicious of businesses that have Fox News showing as well. While I was there I am pretty sure that CNN was on, but I am sure that it was not Fox News because I would have made a mental note of that as well. read more

Not cheap, but I had the best panini ever at Bud's! I'll agree the service isn't the best, but the food is solid. My daughter goes to Interlochen Arts Academy, and she and her friends absolutely love it. I suppose it's a nice change from cafeteria food. Plus, they deliver! read more

Interlochen... what a wonderful place!...the Center for the Arts... Green Lake and Duck Lake...the slower pace and beautiful drives. One favorite place we visit often (have our own mugs from there) is Bud's. I've heard it was a busy gas station, motel and donut shop in its day... vacant for several years...but born again!.. I very "up northish" setting with a vast variety of good tasty meals, desserts, coffees other luscious libations.. even has live entertainment on certain nights. A great place to meet and visit... and shop their quaint gifts and treasures. read more

The icecream was amazing, service was a little slow. We then asked for yesterdays donuts. $2.50 per dozen and only recieved 10. Very disappointed and a waste of money. We then asked for 2 more and they gave them to us, they tasted great but disappointed about the service read more

Worst imaginable service. Waited in line at the drive through for over 30 min. Once I made it to the window nobody came to get my order (or say that they were busy and was going to take a while). After a couple of min I left with no coffee and food. TERRIBLE! read more

Awesome Hangout! The specialty coffee drinks are great. The ice cream is delicious and cheap. The food is pretty good too! Their specials always rock. The Harvest Porker needs to stick around. On the regular menu, the cherry chicken salad wrap, the western bbq burger, and the fiesta salad are all FANTASTIC! The entertainment is usually pretty good too. Dear ginger haired girl who served me at the ice cream counter, Yesterday between 5:30 pm and 6 my friend decided to treat me to a caramel coffee chiller. We arrived and she decided we should get some caramel coffee chillers because I have never had them before and they sounded quite tasty. We went up to the counter by the ice cream and my friend ordered our chillers. Kristi, (I believe is her name is- don't quote me) started to make our chillers and we then tried to find somewhere to sit. Our regular spot behind the fireplace was already taken so we decided to sit in the two person booth closest to the counter and fountain drinks. They called my friend's name, she got them, and brought them back to the booth. About halfway done with my drink and my friend almost finishing hers, we hear "I SPIT in there coffee drinks." "Was it a loogie?" "Wait the two you just made?." I was mortified. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. I thought for a minute I was going crazy until a gentleman with glasses came out with someone else's food, gave it to them, looked straight at our table, and as he was walking back he said "there already half done with them." I started investigating the chiller as if there was some hope that I hadn't already drank half of it. I started to feel sick. By now I have heard three different voices talking about it and was in hope that someone would come take it out of our hands, make some stupid excuse of why they were inedible, the coffee syrup went bad, there was plastic in the ice, I didn't make the right chiller so let me take this one, ANYTHING. I was going to explode with disgust and rage. Not only did it ruin my time, make me feel sick, and made me clear of never returning, I couldn't help but think how I couldn't have been the only one this had happened too. If we wouldn't have heard her and him say it, we would have never known. And I didn't even speak when we were at the counter ordering!! WHAT DID I DO TO YOU? If it wasn't for my friend telling me not to make a scene I would have boiled her there at that moment. Instead I threw the rest of my drink out, my friend threw her cup away and we left. Now, today after work, I will be paying Bud's a visit for the very last time without my friend. I will in FULL detail let all know about the discussion. Not only do they have cameras, I am in a better mind set to discuss what happened. I'll be the woman in line in that video with a black hat and north face next to my friend who again was just taking me out to be nice. To Buds representative, I have come to terms with your establishment and have to regrettably inform you that because of actions taken by your employees my family and friends will never be dining in your diner again. Although you have pretty good wraps, we have decided to drive to Tom's deli if ever famished or thirsty again. Please address the problem so that this will not happen to another local or for that matter anyone again. Thank you kindly. P.S.
