After that awful interaction at the 1980 Broadway location we had to reach out to corporate and the lovely gentleman on the phone directed us in the direction of the 4800 E Evans Ave and that's where we found Dan the man, he welcomed us with charisma and hospitality. He profusely apologized for the service that we had already experienced and got right to fixing the problem. We were in and out in less than 15 minutes with a very complicated rental one way exchange situation that he handled with a breeze while providing the customer service that set out long journey off to an amazing start. The first car I was assigned had 22% charge- I was told to grab another car. That car broke down twice and wasted 2 days of my vacation plus I charged it so that was wasted money as well. I was stranded in the heat and the car entirely shut down and trust me when I say- the Ioniq is a death trap. wtf avoid it cause if the battery does what mine did you're trapped in the car and you can't roll down the windows on top of other hazards. Being refunded 3 days of rental does not recoup the hundreds of dollars lost to what I had planned and booked. I had to get a ride back to my lodging on my own and they only offered to uber me to the airport, otherwise I would have had to spend another 3 hrs to get a new car. Only renting if it's a last resort and I'm that desperate. read more

I'd give zero stars if I could, unfortunately. I'd recommend any other car rental service here, as the ratings also support. We waited over an hour to pick up our car, because they were waiting for cars to come IN. They majorly miscalculated things as by the time we left the line was 2+ hours and only getting worse. They didn't have inventory to give out to pre booked rentals. We booked an EV car and were told we'd have to wait an additional hour or so if we wanted that. We ended up with a totally different car type, which was a common theme for everyone there. Don't save the $10. Rent from ANYWHERE else. read more

I needed a car for a week in Denver, so I booked one at this Budget using my CSEA benefit. It's no surprise that whenever you book anything with a discount you're not going to get their best. Same goes with not purchasing their insurance. Even if you have more than enough coverage and a spotless driving record. Anyway, I was provided with a black Mazda CX 5 AWD. It was a little scratched up but the owner Simon was very upfront about this. Regardless of the scratches, the car was nice and decent, so I signed the paperwork. Couldn't start the car because I wasn't used to using keyless. But Simon was nice enough to come to my aid. Once I got the car in gear, I was off. The car did the job and got great gas mileage! It only took me $15 to fill it up before I returned it. The return was super quick, and there were no additional charges. read more

I have rented from this locations at least 10 times and I have never had a bad experience. Simon and Lisa are extremely friendly and accommodating. I could not imagine nicer people. They deserve kudos for their customer service. I can only give them my highest recommendation. I have never left this location dissatisfied . I don't know how anyone could base a bad review on their performance. Budget the corporation is one thing, though I have not had a problem with them either, but I have never had anything close to the bad experiences I read about here. I guess most only give bad reviews, or perhaps they are giving a review for another location, as I read one stating the car was picked up at the airport. Absolutely HORRIBLE!!!!!!! The wait has been hours long, poor customer service, the counter clerks would not call people up and just sit chit chatting with eachother!! Denver airport. Absolutely ridiculous. Looked like a line at Disneyland inside the building. We reserved a car, had to stand in the FIRST line forever and then told to stand in ANOTHER line for a "car assignment." Today, a holiday, budget keep us waiting 2 hours for a car. They had plenty of EV cars that few people wanted. When customers sign up for a specific type of car at a specific time, then it should be available. Or at the time of the reservation, budget should say we cannot accommodate you. The workers were all working hard but there were about 100 people waiting hours for a car. Workers kept saying no one wants EV. IF I HAD WANTED AN EV CAR I WOULD HAVE RESERVED ONE. read more

Terrible experience. We had a reservation and after waiting over an hour at 1 AM we, along with 30+ others were rudely told there were no more cars (how did this take an hour to determine) and we should just uber to our destinations. We were told we would be refunded for the costs, along with the costs to get back to the airport. I have now called or emailed Budget probably 20 times and still have not received a refund. They will say I have to call with my credit card info. Then when I call they say it will be posted in 3-5 days. Then nothing is posted and I start all over again. read more

l have had nothing but good experiences renting here, and the first time I did it was in 2016, five years ago. A lot of the reviews I'm reading seem to be based off mistakes a new car-renteree made, or simple ignorance of how renting a car from a smaller rental location works. (This isn't an airport. It's a downtown rental place that we are lucky even exists at these rates.) I have found the staff there to be available for my calls, attentive beyond my expectation, and extremely easy going. This is my Denver go-to. This is a solid operation. And they do their best to give you what you want, or usually better. read more

When I arrived with my reservation, they wouldn't honor it. I even had a confirmation #. The lady was rude and said if I wanted a car I'd have to book a new reservation. Do not rent from them unless you are driving around town. You are better off taking an uber /Lyft then renting from them. We needed to go to Michigan for a family event. We got to the NU front desk and they told us you could not leave the state, but unlimited mileage. With everything going up in price the normal rental companies don't have an issue leaving the state. Unbelievable. Bus driver drove right past the fastbreak booth without saying a word. Huge line with one employee inside. The employee who finally got to me saw how mad I eas and was able to get me an upgrade, but it was a big waste of time. Then, after I left, noticed that the toll pass I asked for wasn't in the car. After returning my rental, saw that I got charged for double the gas that I left on the tank, called to ask, and Simon told me in a very condescending way that I should've had known that pre-purchasing the gas was a full tank regardless of how much was left in the tank, we are talking about a Chevy suburban tank, the biggest car they rent here. He then proceeded to tell me that they never answer questions that are not asked, because informing costumers is not part of their job, and they wouldn't make any money out of us if they did. They were so fast to offer the option, but one sentence was enough to inform me of the rest. This is an awful policy to go by and they are intentionally trying to steal your money. Simon also had the nerve to contact me after the phone call to tell me he can't control what costumers pay attention to. When I returned the car, took a picture of the fuel level in front of the Budget employee and not even in this occasion he had the courtesy to be honest. I absolutely regret bringing this place my business. There are definitely sneaky ways companies find to take your money, so be certain that this company won't stop looking for the opportunity to take yours, they train their employees to do so, as if it was for themselves. read more

The reoccurring theme amongst these reviews is that Simon (the owner?!?) is RUDE and CONDESCENDING. My experience was exactly that, and I would advise anyone who is younger, not a regular renter, or especially females to NOT USE THIS LOCATION! It is clear from the reviews that he preys on people who are not familiar with the ins and outs of the car rental process. Two groups of all female renters checked in before me and he was short, rude, and did not offer or suggest to go check out the vehicle prior to signing paperwork to either group. He merely slammed paperwork on the counter and said sign here and managed to half way answer the renter's questions. This is the shadiest rental location I've ever used. Make sure to ask tons of questions, and most importantly make sure the vehicle walk-around is preformed in front of you. I rented an SUV on-line via Costco, and Budget had the best rates at the time. When my group arrived at the location a few weeks ago, we were greeted by Matthew and his very polite manner. The 6 of us were a loud bunch, and Matthew handled us with ease. While we were there, an older couple walked in and expressed their unhappiness with the price of the car they had booked on line. The wife was giving major attitude but Matthew remained calm, professional and courteous. He appeared to be the only one working in the store that afternoon and it was close to closing. He did not appear to be rushing us at all and we appreciated his kindness. Fast forward to the day prior to having to return the car. I called to see we could extend the contract by a day AND drop the car off at the airport instead. I was assisted by Matthew again on the phone and he was super polite and patient with all of my questions and concerns about the various rental car charges. Matthew made it work for us and was able to extend the day without a huge overcharge and no problem to drop it off at the airport instead of the downtown location. He also provided us with information on returning the car at the airport and the best place for us to fill the gas tank. We were so amazed by his professionalism and kindness and would definitely rent from this location again just to deal with Matthew! It's not often you see a genuine non sales type of person at a rental car loc. Matthew exuded honesty and sincerity and was a pleasure to deal with. read more

Prior to arriving in Denver we rented an SUV, paid just over $700. We had a confirmation number. Upon arriving at the Budget counter to pick up the car they informed me that I would need a credit card for incidentals, perfectly understandable. However, we only had debit cards with plenty of money to cover the incidental fee of $250. They then inform me that because it's a debit card they would have to run a credit report and started also demanding more money for all kinds of separate fees. None of this was disclosed to us when we booked the rental. Long story short, they wouldn't give us the car we paid for, or any car. We explained that we are now stranded at 1:30 in the morning in a city we are unfamiliar with and no idea what to do. They were unsympathetic to our situation and offered us no kind of resolution. Basically we were told we were just out of luck. The lack of communication with what is required to rent a car that you have already booked and paid for and their unapologetic and unhelpful staff members was truly unprofessional. I have rented many cars without a credit card(just a debit) and have never had this kind of situation arise. Budget should be ashamed at their behavior and consider hiring people who are a little more helpful. read more

Terrible customer service, long hold times on the phone. I made a reservation 3 months in advance and had to change the pickup time on the day of pickup due to flight delays. But I had to create a new reservation to do so. I was surprised that the rental cost went from $406 for my 90 day advance to the last minute reservation price of $223 for the same car and same # of days. I was charged for both reservations. I had to jump through hoops, make 3 phone calls and send 2 emails and at the end they wouldn't honor the reservation with the lower amount. Bad practice and I will never recommend Budget rental to anyone. Too many other options at lower prices without the headaches. read more

I reserved the car on Priceline for 3 days and had a price of $126, when the sales person gave me the contract he charged me $250, when asked he said it was for insurance. I notified him I had insurance and didn't need their coverage. He said he would credit me back the difference. He gave me the contract and highlighted where I needed to sign and initial. When I got my credit card bill it was for $250. When I notified the rental car company (Budget) they said I had signed the agreement for extra coverage. So basically the sales person had me sign for coverage even though I told him I didn't need addition coverage. I highly suggest you rent from another rental company and if you do decide to rent from this Very Dishonest company you read the fine print and get an exact copy of your receipt. read more

I called today wanting to rent a SUV on short notice. They had one available. I offered to pay on the phone since I was reserving for my son. The agent did not explain that he could reserve without advanced payment. Things went south, I became frustrated he then said "we are now closed, don't call back, we don't want your business". Lisa at this Budget office let me rent a truck at no extra charge when it turned out my skis would not fit into the subcompact I'd reserved. This was the only suitable vehicle left on the lot. Absolutely HORRIBLE!!! Got there at 5:30 tonight and the line was out the door! Inside was absolutely packed!! After 45 minutes standing in 9 degree weather we made it inside where people told us they had been in line for over 2 hours and they were only half way to the counter! We did not have 4-6 hours to spend waiting! I do not understand why there isn't more staff. They have advanced reservations so they are aware of the number of people that will be arriving. Epic fail!!! There were several hundred people crammed inside the building - during covid! We will never use budget again! read more

We just got back home (to California). We LIVED in Denver for almost 5 years and rented a few cars during those years. We returned for a week of fun to visit our friends and see all the things we love about the Denver/Colorado Springs area. I decided to rent a car downtown instead of DIA because of previous experiences. This BUDGET rental shop, on Broadway between 20th and Welton - FAMILY owned, btw - is the BEST as far as I have seen. Great, flexible, personal service. We got a new car, an easy in/out experience, and they even gave us a ride to Union Station when it was time to come home - so we could catch the RTD "A" line train to the airport. I have rented a lot of cars over the years, and this is might just be the best rental experience. Easy. No kidding. Rent a car from these folks. read more

We reserved a car through Costco, for a two-week, one-way rental, dropping the car in Northern California. We needed special help at Budget, because the fires in California would determine which airport we could return the car, either Reno or Sacramento. We spoke with Simon, the manager. He was completely understanding of our situation, and made sure we would not incur extra charges when dropping off the car. He said to call him directly, when we knew when and where we would be dropping off the car. As it turned out, a new fire in Sonoma changed our plans again, and we needed to drop the car at a completely different airport. We called Simon and he fixed it for us. No extra charges. Simon provided us fantastic customer service, above and beyond our expectations. I see the negative reviews of this Budget location, but I think Simon is the new manager and is turning it around. read more
