Went to Hermitage Budget Brakes in 2022 for brake inspection on 2016 Mazda 3. Told brake pads only had worn down 50%, and to come back and see them when work was needed. No charge for that inspection. July 2026 went back with same car and had brakes and rotors replaced for 950 dollars which included a nice discount from Chris at the front desk , because I was a repeat customer. Very happy with cost and work done. In addition to my Mazda, I have also had brake service done on a 2017 Nissan Murano, 1999 Acura TL, and a 2014 Subaru Outback all at this location. On November 28 The guy that helped me was rude. I came in because I needed help with my breaks I got done with them 6 months ago. I of course knew my breaks was scrubbing and was extremely low which is why I stopped by. He said I needed a rotor and my right break pad was ok but left side was not. The rotor he priced with labor out the door was $800+. He wanted to be rude by bringing the other guys around to show how bad it was. Then when I was getting ready to go he was trying to be funny and say how I'm a disgrace and could go out and kill somebody bc of the condition of my break and he's seems 2-3 accidents happen in front of the shoppe because of bad breaks. I get it he was trying to sale me on it. Then he said before I had to leave he wanted me to sign some type of waiver tha if I go and kill someone he's not at fault. Of course I told him no unless my lawyer was present. Fast forward today I took it to a mechanic and he said me where the right side break pads are less than 10% and how how they used a really cheap brand pads and that's why they wore so quickly. Mind you the guy said my right side was good and only left side needed to be fixed. I will Not recommend the to anyone. They only car about your money and great at being rude. read more

I had a great experience at Budget Brakes. The customer service was excellent--especially the younger guy at the front desk, who was professional, friendly, and straightforward. He gave me an estimated wait time, explained the process clearly, and kept me updated throughout. I originally planned to replace all four brakes on my Jeep Compass , but he was honest and told me my front brakes were still in great condition. I only needed rear brakes and rotors, which saved me money. They did run into a few issues during the job, but every time they found something, they explained it to me first and made sure I was okay with moving forward. Communication was consistent and respectful the entire time. The vibe in the shop was great too--good music, good conversations when the guys weren't busy, and I never felt like they were trying to take advantage of me. Some people say the prices are high, but honestly everything costs more these days, and I was happy to pay for the quality of work and honesty I received. In fact, I ended up paying less than I expected. I came in around 10 a.m. without an appointment and was out by about 12:30 p.m.--fast and efficient considering the work done. My car is driving and stopping perfectly now. I'll definitely be bringing my other vehicles back here when the time comes. read more

Then when one of them decided to come to the counter with rude expression said name, he more grunted and acted like it was a huge inconvenience.... Sign outside say $100 brakes!! Yesterday I took my car to Auto Pro in Mt Juliet. They gave me an estimate for extensive brake repairs at over 900 dollars. WHAT?!?! I was stunned as I am a trained mechanic from the Navy and I take good care of my vehicles. Not only that but Auto Pro in Mt Juliet charged me 50 bucks just to look at the car and they told me that if I were to get those repairs they MIGHT be able to apply that money to the repair bill. SAY WHAT AGAIN!?!? So now I'm sitting in the lobby at BUDGET BRAKES. I called BB yesterday to ask for a quote over the phone. Brian Varossa was kind enough to offer a quote over the phone based on the repairs that Auto Pro gave me. After he gave me the quote he practically begged me to bring my car in so that he could verify the needed repairs as he owns 3 Hondas and says that, "his shop does just brakes and he's never seen a Honda with 40k miles with such issues". the BB guys were so friendly and accommodating over the phone from the beginning. I got up this morn and my car battery was dead so I was running late - I called to let them know and of course, they had no issues with me missing my time frame. Not only that but BB had anticipated all of the repairs we had discussed then went ahead and ordered parts before I came in "just in case". Wow! Where does this type of service exist in Nashville? While I was waiting to hear the bad news Chris Miller came out and looked at me kinda funny then told me to stay seated. Ugh! Now I'm prepared for the absolute worst! Chris started by saying "I want to know where you took your car and I want to know the managers name...". Chris was not happy that Autopro wanted to repair items on my brake system that did not need it! Woohoo! (I mean woohoo about not needing all those repairs, not woohoo for almost getting scammed by another auto repair shop) Long story short BB had two mechanics (THAT JUST DO BRAKES) look at my car and did not find the extensive problems that Autopro did. On the contrary, I'm paying a little over 200 bucks for what I originally thought was wrong (remember I'm an ex mechanic) - brake pads and resurfacing!! Ceramic pads with a lifetime warranty too! {Underline LIFETIME} If I could give BB 5 more stars I would. The service level here is off the charts and these guys are more than accommodating. They saved me well over 700 dollars in unneeded repairs from another auto store. All along the managers of the store anticipated my needs and worked to get me an honest repair at a great price. I wished these guys were in the restaurant business cause they'd have a kick-ass place, I'll tell you that! I regret not taking the 20 min drive from Providence to go there first because I lost 50 bucks from the other shop - but hey I found a great shop that everyone should know about so that's the upside, huh? Terrible experience! I am still reeling over it. I called the Hermitage Budget Brakes to get a price quote and was told that brake pads start at $89.95. I scheduled an appointment the next day for my Camry. When they evaluated my car they showed me two options: An estimate of almost $500 (like $486 or something) for front and back brake pads of their best quality; and almost $400 for their cheaper pads! (Included in the price was $48+ brackets for each pad.) When I first saw the almost $500 estimate, I gasped! The 'salesman' rudely told me he didn't have a chance to go over all the charges yet. His attitude was belligerent. Because I desperately needed front pads (80% of braking wear on front pads), I got the front pads changed. No need for new brackets, an extra that was recommended. I ended up getting the cheap pads for $30.00. They charged me $80 for labor, and $18.70 for "shop supplies". Total bill was $140.59 for the cheapest pads ever! I had a sick stomach all day thinking about how I had been ripped off and treated so terribly rudely. Next time I'll spend $60.00 and get top quality pads from the part store and put them on myself! Brake pad installation is an easy job. It might take me up to an hour since I don't have a lift or pneumatic tools, but it should only take them 30 minutes. To charge me $80 for labor is what a doctor would charge! ($160/ hour) And THEN an additional almost $20 for "shop supplies"!!! Disgraceful! I expected around $90.00 (price I was told when I called), and figured I would be willing to pay someone $30 to save me the trouble. I still can't get over how rude the guy was! I paid $140 for cheap cheap brake pads!!! I'll never fall for that bait and switch again! [Nobody pays $89.95-- the quoted "starting at" price!]. I still can't believe the initial quote either. No self-respecting mechanic would charge almost $500 to replace brake pads front and back! read more

If you need your brakes looked at but you're not sure where to stop- please take my recommendation and choose this shop. Everyone is so friendly and had great manners - I was called ma'am my whole time in the shop. If you're not a big car person they will explain things to you in a way you'll understand, and what's more they give you a "good, better, best" scenario for pricing. This time around I went for the low end, I couldn't afford all the bells and whistles. No judgement, no pressure. They got the work done fast, had plenty of seating while I waited and gave me some tips for the road. Love this shop! read more

DO NOT GO HERE YOU WILL BE EMBARRASSED WHEN YOU NEED TO STOP YOUR CAR LATER! Told them i just needed the back done, not the front. Called me with a price for the whole thing; told them again i only need the back done. Turned my very new, performance rotors on the front and ruined them. Been here several times and every time they turn anything it's ruined, i have to most of the work again myself. To make things worse the ones I paid to have done (rear) now sound at least 10x worse than they did before I paid these people. HORRIBLY embarassing when i'm trying to park and everyone's staring like "what's wrong with you get your breaks done".... right after I paid too much to get my brakes done. Today I was on my way to Budget Brakes to pick up my husband who was getting his car worked on, when my car mysteriously stalled out in the middle of Old Hickory Blvd, five minutes away. Called my husb, and when he asked the Budget Brakes manager who we should call for a tow, the manager Matt told my husband to get in his car and they'd come pick me up. Yes. That really happened. We've always had great service on our brakes at this location, but today's experience made me a customer for life. Or for as long as I call Donelson home. Oh, and they fixed my car right up. Went in to this location today as I SHOULD have done originally. I went to a different company (I won't name) in Mt Juliet because the person driving me and I live there (minutes away) and it was more convenient for my driver. After a terrible experience at first place (said I needed new rotors, I'm not ignorant to cars) and 4 wasted hours, I drove to Budget Brakes. I was taken in very late in the day 430. They did a great job and saved me $250, plus I got new ceramic pads that weren't even in the other company's quote. Turned the rotors and it stops awesome. Lesson learned. Time is money. That little 10 minute drive was well worth it. I won't make that mistake again. Good job guys. I'll be back. And I'll spread the word. read more

Was here before for another problem. Now I had a strange sound from the left front. Matt looked at it right away. It turned out that both struts were in bad shape and needed to be replaced. Wait time about 2 hours, but this was not their fault. It took about an hour and 15 minutes before the materials were finally delivered. Matt and his colleague were fast and reliable. He even looked into the problem of the strut, which looked like a manufactures fault. Of course the car is out of warranty so cannot claim this anymore. Thanks again Matt for excellent service. Then, when I had issues after 6 months they checked the car out and replaced the worn out pads for free since they were covered under warranty. I wasn't charged for labor or anything. WONDERFUL experience. Took my 2006 Toyota Matrix with 93,000 miles in for a rear brake inspection. ... not having problems but figured it was about time. These knowledgeable folks checked my brakes in about 20 minutes and found no problems - and no need to replace the brake shoes ... they explained my vehicle can go much further before new brakes are needed. I'm writing this as I sit at Firestone waiting for my front breaks to be fixed...again. I took my car to Budget Brakes about 7 months ago, and my breaks squeaked from day one. It finally got so bad that I brought my car in to Firestone today. They told me that they were installed wrong and that the parts used were very cheap. They showed me the problem (what caused the squeaking) so I was able to see exactly what they were talking about. They fixed me right up. I would definitely recommend Firestone, but I will never bring my car to Budget Brakes again!! What a waste of $170 bucks!! read more

As long as I live around here, I will take my vehicle here for any issue I might have. I was on my way to work and my one of my brake calipers had the bolt come out while I was driving and it jammed my tire in place, so I had to get it towed there. The owner (I'm assuming he is the owner) had one of his guys run down and get the bolt I needed immediately. They even went out of their way to check my other brakes to make sure they were all good. I went to your store in Hermitage this morning to get my rear brakes done on my truck. I went in and asked to have the brakes done and I had some pads i just bought in the back. the guy at the counter told me he didnt use pads from customers. I told him fine use your pads, seems dumb you wouldnt use other pads but i understand. He got pissed and told me to leave he didnt want to work on my truck. with an attitude like his I dont want him near my truck. he was rude and totally unprofessional. I wen to Firestone and said the same thing and they are using their pads. no big deal the parts store is on my way home and i kept the receipt. but your guy was a total A hole. if I could do a negative review their site I would but now i understand why they dont have that option.
