There was only one guy working here during my visit but he was so nice! He acknowledged people coming in and waiting. He would tell you who is first and what you're waiting for. (I have very low expectations for people working at car rentals though....) I rented a car at this location. It's like a small trailer in a small lot with several cars. If you're looking for upgrades, chances here are slim. The car I got was what I had reserved, but I didn't feel safe driving it away. The guy said I could wait for him to help other customers, or I go to another location and switch out the car. I went to two more locations before another car was available. Took me like 1.5 hours. I guess Budget holds a $200 deposit so you need a credit card and ID. read more

Zero stars. I booked my truck. Provided payment info, I got confirmation emails. Then when I showed up on the day, they tell me that my reservation is cancelled. They should have seen I was moving to another town with this truck. They swear they called me, no calls, no emails. I ask them can they find another branch that had a truck, he tells me there' are no trucks in Houston for rental. None. Not only would I recommend avoiding them, someone needs to shut down this ghetto cover up business. Cause clearly they are no t there to rent trucks. Seriously they need to be investigated. read more

Very professional Friendly and prompt! The best location that I've done business with.

If I had choice to give 0 stars I would. Horrible management and horrible customer service. After I had booked and confirmed my rental, I get a call from Avis WHILE I'm in my Uber to pick up my rental that they are going to cancel my car. Beyond infuriated and frustrated, the guy on the phone keeps insisting I need to call "customer service" even though he was the one who called me and canceled my car. He kept going back and forth saying he is the only one there and cannot help me, he proceeds to hang up on me. This is an absolute joke. read more

I was offered a credit for my inconvenience of renting here upon return of my other rental from the Houston Hobby location which was a much better experience. The customer service was helpful after they were notified. However, it's shouldn't have gone this far and caused me so much stress. Reported this business to BBB and after the report, Budget issued me a credit for my experience. I ended up renting from the Budget near Hobby Airport. read more

Had a bad experience with this business back in 2016 (didn't have Yelp back then). And I agree with most of the reviewers when they say that they would give 0 or negative stars if they could. Me and my family were going on a cruise that was leaving out of Florida and we decided to rent a car to drive there, then fly back. Sadly, I put in a reservation at this place to be picked up here and returned in Port Canaveral, Florida. I called the day before because their website said that they accepted cash and I wanted to confirm. The guy who answered did confirm that they did. When we arrived, the price that I was quoted was accurate and when I went to pay the guy (in cash), he said "Oh, we don't accept cash". I went "I called the day before and someone said that you did". Guy at counter: "I never said that" (He couldn't even look me in my face while he said that - which I knew he was lying plus it was probably him that I talked to on the previous day). My sister wound up paying with her card and I gave her the cash. Guy at counter said that he had to draw up another contract since it was a different person renting the car. Turns out that he entered some information wrong on the new contract. He charged us by the mile for a trip from Texas to Florida. My sister had to explain what happened when she returned the car in Florida (because that would've been an additional $500 charge, which was waived- thankfully- by the other rental location). Plus I scheduled the pickup for 3 in the afternoon; we didn't leave until 5 because the car wasn't there when we arrived and they had to clean it (although we were on time) read more

Don't go here! The WORST terrible rental place! you can only get a damaged dirty car! This rental service team doesn't even allow you to ask extra questions and your only choice is 800 number call center service. If you have to choose Budget/Avis, go to a different location and you will get a totally different service. read more

Truck was not ready at reservation time. Thet had to look for a truck in other locations. They found one 25 miles away from the original location. I had to take it because I requested the day off in my job to move out that day. I called customer service to see if they were willing to compensate or adjust the extra miles and gas that I had to use to get the truck. The basically told me that nothing like that was in the contract. That I should not accepted the truck if I was not willing to pick it up at the other location, So suddenly it was my fault. Not using this company again ever. read more

Please save yourself and never rent from here. I made a truck reservation from 10 am to 4 pm and selected after hours drop off. I received a call the night before saying they didn't have the truck we needed, but then the morning of they said they had one but needed it back by 1, but if not we could drop it off later. When we returned to drop the truck off after the building closed at 1 pm, not only were the gates locked and after hours drop off not available, they locked our personal car inside their parking lot. This is absolutely unacceptable. There were no signs and zero verbal warning that the lot would be locked, and no way to contact anyone (we made dozens of phone calls and customer service was entirely unhelpful AND unapologetic). Additionally, we were charged a $25 late fee even though 1. I specifically selected after hours drop off 2. Budget halved our reservation time (10 am to 4 pm became 10 am to 1 pm) 3. Budget left us without our personal car for almost 24 hours. Even if we can't get our money back I want them to change policies to help other renters! read more

Be careful of this company for foreign rentals (ie Europe)..you will check out and return car and they will send you a month later a letter indicating that you have multiple parking tickets..Including 4 in one day same amount..ironically car was parked only in one location for the day and never moved..I got the charges on my credit card and when you can Avis/budget they can't tell you the details of the tickets (ie where, when, etc.) it is a scam for foreign rentals..be careful when you leave the desk and return car you should advise credit card company to block any further chargers from them on to your card until they can provide detailed proof you Owen them money for stuff read more

Reserved on line for a 1030 pick up.. called this location the day of pick up and asked if we can pick up a couple hours early, they stated they will be able to. So we came in and tried to pick up and they were trying to charge us more than what we reserved. So we cancelled picking up early and came at 1015 to pick up...the wasn't even clean prior to picking up. We did not leave the counter until after 11. I believe this place is own and operated by Botish Ink and since it's owned and operated they really don't know how to run things. Just read the other reviews. This place really sucks. Avis/budget dropped the ball when they let this Botish Ink take over and really dropped the quality of service here. This major rental brand needs drop these people. read more

I would give it zero stars if I could. A little human aspect- my wife and I are mothers to triplet toddlers and we both work full time. She got off work and waited til they opened before she went to Avis/budget for a car that she prepaid a reservation for. Tried to stick me with a higher rate than the reservation rate I locked in online. They are already ridiculously high, even before you add in the large number of hidden fees that are nearly impossible to see on the reservation. When I had a meeting run over I needed to extend the rental for an hour. Probably not that long even. The price? $30 for the hour, $10 late fee, and they have me dropping it off at the wrong location and want to charge me another $30 to leave it where I had originally said on the reservation. This is now equal to keeping the car another full day. To me that makes these people criminals. read more

Made reservations for an economy car a month ahead of time. Luckily I phoned before heading over to the Avis location and was told by an agent named Ala (Alla?) That there are only 6 SUVs available and even they might not be available by the time I get there. This place does not deserve a star. It's not necessarily the staff, it's just everything else. The only good thing about this place is the location. The wait is forever, picking up and returning. It was so bad on the return that I had to get in my Uber and go pick up my car and drive back to actually process the return. But wait...there was still a wait and all he asked was if the tank was full. I said yes and he said ok I can go. They're supposed to offer shuttle service and when I mentioned I would need it, at first they said they didn't so I quoted my employer's AVIS page and then I was told that it requires 24 hours notice. So for the return, I called 24 hours to inform them I would need shuttle service and I was told that they only shuttle 2 miles and again I referenced our employee page that stated 15 miles so then it turned into there would only be one person there so they couldn't. It was a disappointing experience and I have no intention of returning (never say never). read more

I don't even know where to begin. We rented a truck to move across country with a dolly attached for a car. The truck looked like it had been seriously damaged, there was a massive dent in the front and scratched badly on both sides. But we didn't have a choice because it was the only one they had and we had movers coming to pack our furniture. We drove 1 1/2 miles to our house, packed the furniture and drove back for them to help us hook up the dolly. Surprise, my very normal/average sedan didn't go on the dolly because the front was too low and there was a bolt sticking up that caught underneath the car. (I've rented an identical one from Uhaul by the way which I had no problems with, I guess without a bolt sticking up). This cost over $100 more. Then we noticed the tire looked like it was losing air so we asked about it. They said obviously it was our fault and we'd have to pay for them to fix it, instead we opted to buy the $65 roadside assistance so they would fix it for us. Here's the kicker, they told us to drive down the street and call the roadside assistance so they wouldn't be asked to find us a new truck and they couldn't repair the tire on premise (this took about 2.5 hours until the repairman showed up, not his fault though since Budget took about 1.5 hours to figure out our customer reference number?). After being on the road for a few hours we stopped to get gas and realized the bucket straps the workers had placed over our tires were loose. Fortunately we were at a truck stop and a very helpful trucker helped us adjust them and he told us they were put on all wrong and we were very lucky that hadn't come completely off! We spent the rest of the 1500 miles praying that nothing else would go wrong. Oh and every time we got gas we had to just barely put the nozzle in the tank to pump it because it would constantly be clicked off. Anyways we finally made it after 3 very stressful days. Moral of the story is you get what you pay for, and after all the tacked on costs we should have taken a U-haul or Penske truck because the price would have been the same with much better customer service. read more

Agreed with all the bad reviews here. We rented a car there because it had great rates, but I would have paid a little more to go to Enterprise down the street to not have to deal with this horrible place. HOW DID THEY GET A 4.0 ON GOOGLE REVIEWS??? Must have been family members or friends who rated them on Google. We went there at 9 am sharp to pick up the car and was met with... disdain the first moment the agent saw us. He did not greet us or bother to look at us (I don't think we're ugly people lol). Among other rude things, he did not know anything about Costco car rental service and insisted that I be charged the fee for an additional driver (where it is waived for domestic partners and/or spouse through Costco). The contract also stated that the additional driver must be present and sign the contract to be covered, but the agent refused to let us sign the paperwork. After much convincing, we were able to sign the document but we were late to our destination. If you're really strapped for money, bite your tongue and deal with the nasty attitude here. If you got about $15 more and have no time for BS or to be treated humanely, go to the Enteriprise on Greenbriar, which is just another 3 minutes away. read more

We needed a rental for a quick drive to Austin. Not many cars were available, so Dan hooked us up with an upgrade. Good customer service.

Wish I would have read the reviews first!Im being generous with the one star! When I arrived to this location on a Friday morning around 10:30am there was one gentleman working whom seemed to lack customer service skills. I was standing there for a few minutes then he asked "How can I help you?" in a rude tone. I overlooked that and gave him my information. I was given a small red Nissan. While he was conducting the walkthrough with me he seen me look inside the vehicle at the Starbucks cup and said "Well let me clean it out". Again this did not really bother me, but when I pulled off the lot and went to the gas station and looked in the backseat there was a container full of old pineapples...wth! My deal is why wasn't this vehicle inspected before given to the new renter? I thought rental placed examine the vehicle upon return, guess not for this location. Also the car just did not drive well it seemed to need maintenance or something. I will simply not come to this location again my experience just left a bad taste in my mouth. read more

If I could give this location a negative star I would!!! Beware... apparently a reservation and confirmation three weeks in advance means nothing! I booked a moving truck three weeks in advance for December 1. I received a confirmation email right away and felt very satisfied. Two days prior to my rental I received a confirmation reminder that my move was almost here and they were looking forward to seeing me. Today, less than 24 hours away from my pick up time, I receive a call from Ola, who tells me he's the owner of the location, and tells me he's sorry but he no longer has a truck available for me. He proceeds to tell me that FedEx rented all of their trucks the day before and he did not bother to abide by my rental reservation. He also did not offer to find me another truck. He told me they were completely sold out in the entire city. So imagine my panic when my move is less than 24 hours away and I have to scramble to find a moving truck to accommodate the movers that are showing up at my house tomorrow morning!! He was completely unsympathetic, unhelpful and unprofessional. If any business does business like this, they should be out of business in no time. My husband and I worked with the Budget Kirby location for several months when we were without a car and then periodically ever since. It's easily been five years that we've rented from them. A previous long-time employee always remembered us when we came, and Ola, the owner, remembered me just this week, even though it's been about a year since I've been there. Process has always been quick. They've never overcharged or pushed on extras, and often they'd find a way to cut us a discount when we were renting so often. The prices are significantly better than Enterprise. This location is always my preference. read more

DO NOT GO HERE. I rented a van here for a few days. When we did the walkthrough it did not have anywhere on the form to mark anything about there being any pet hair in the interior. The manager who is also the owner who is also a tool did not tell me I should climb around inside and make sure I couldn't find any hair anywhere in the back of the van. There isn't even anything in the tiny print of the rental agreement about pet hair in the interior. I took the van for a few days but didn't end up needing it because my car got out of the shop early. So I made three short trips in the van. At no point did I have any pets in the van. At all. When I returned it, the manager who is also a tool poked his head in and said he would have to charge me a 100$ cleaning fee because there was pet hair on the floor. There was a little hair of some kind on the floor nothing super noticeable unless you were a crime scene detective or something but if it was pet hair it was there when I picked it up because again, I didn't have any pets in the van. I explained this all to the owner as calmly as I could. He was belligerent and refused to waive the charge unless I took it back and vacuumed the entire interior myself. He first claimed there was no way the hair was there when I took the van because "he cleaned it himself before I got it". He then claimed he couldn't do it because the location didn't have a vacuum cleaner on site which made me wonder (1) wouldn't a vacuum cleaner be a good investment for a rental car franchise? and (2) if he didn't have a vacuum how could he have "cleaned it himself" very thoroughly in such a way that it was impossible that he missed a little hair in the back? I called corporate and they said it was his decision and they had no ability to waive the charge with me because the owner/manager/tool owned the location and it was his decision to make even though they apologized profusely and agreed it was BS and gave me a 20$ refund. But I find it hard to believe they had no ability in their franchise agreement to waive the charge. I ended up taking the thing back driving around looking for a car wash and vacuuming the thing out in my suit and tie in the mid afternoon heat rather than pay this guy 100$ for someone else's pet hair. Once I found a car wash it took me about 10 minutes to vacuum the hair out which makes me wonder why he was going to charge 100$. A vacuum which he should have on site and 15 minutes of a $20 per hour employee's time is 5$. Charge me a 10$ cleaning fee and even if it wasn't my hair I am irritated by not furious. There is nothing in any of the paperwork that allowed him to set the cleaning fee at an arbitrary 100$. If he is going to run this scam the walkthrough agreement needs to have something in there saying go crawl in the back and make sure you can't find any hair because if you can and don't write it down we will charge you 100$. read more

Last month I rented a truck from Budget for an interstate move and was directed to return the truck to this Budget location on Kirby and Holcombe. When I departed my city of origin, the truck was given to me at 3/4 tank which the agent there marked on my rental agreement and told me that was the level at which I should return it. When I arrived in Houston to return my truck, Ola, who I believe is the owner/franchiser at this location told me I had been given wrong information (i.e. it should have been returned at completely full) and that he was going to charge me the exorbitant markup cost of fuel for bringing the truck back at 3/4 tank full. Obviously as a customer that was unfair to me as this was the instruction I was given and I complied. Rather than offer suggestions of how to remedy the issue, he raised his voice, began pointing his fingers in my face, and communicating in a very demeaning way about how I should have read the fine print, how employees at the other Budget locations are just lazy, and how he studies company policy and is always right. Wow...just wow. Is this how you treat a customer??? These sound like internal company problems, not customer problems. He took the liberty to yell at me as if he were scolding his own child. He clearly doesn't understand customer service nor does he understand people. If he had made one effort to help resolve this issue in a calm, respectful way, I would not be writing this review. But since he did not, I'll be sharing in as many forums as possible how utterly disrespected I felt and how your hard-earned money is much better spent with another company or location who will treat you with humanity. read more

This is a joint Budget/AVIS office, just south of Holcombe. They don't show many signs of being competent or on the ball, I'm afraid. At most, there are two people there to handle all the walk-ins and the phone going off constantly. On a recent attempt to contact them, there was a horrible noise and the guy put me on hold for a very long time, with the most maddening psychosis-inducing "music" I've ever heard (like something out of a video game). I hung up and tried again--8 or so times. When he picked up, he told me he'd have to call me back. He didn't. I tried again and finally spoke to him. Basically, the place is a hot mess. Don't trust anything they say or do. They don't know what's going on. I'm also quite certain they were overcharging (and possibly even gouging) me. read more
