The folks who work here are great. They should be provided with more staffing and a better selection of cars. Most of everything is done by one person. It's a lot to do, including cleaning up the cars. The selection of vehicles does not match the website. Renters beware. It is HERTZ's fault, so don't read this review, HERTZ corporate, and go after your employees. Pick up a mirror, take a long, hard look at yourselves, and ask, is this the company we have become? BTW, I have been renting from HERTZ for over 30 years. I wish you all the best of luck. read more

Awful. Employee attempted to charge me $75 for a pet cleaning fee based on the presence of about 15 pet hairs, which I then picked out with my fingers. Said I could appeal to the manager "when he returned." And when was he going to return? Our employee didn't know. Rather than continuing to argue -- Hertz policy says to charge a fee only if it takes extraordinary effort to get rid of the pet hairs -- I went to a car wash and vacuumed it out, which took all of 30 seconds because there was like 2 pet hairs left at this point. I filed a complaint with Hertz central and they agreed based on the evidence I provided that the employee needed to be reprimanded and provided a refund for the cost of the vacuuming and gave me "Hertz loyalty points." I have used Hertz for over 40 years and never had trouble before. This place deserves its 1.8 rating. Hertz Central: you need to pay attention to this branch. read more

This was the worst experience that I have ever had working with a car rental service. Not only was the Manager Tramell very rude from the start of my interaction, I booked and paid for my reservation and was told that I couldn't receive my rental into the next day. When I asked why the Manager told me I had to call the 1-800 number. I called the 1-800 number and they told me I needed to go back in the store. Some of the rudest people in that call center. They over talked me, put me in a que 3 time for over 45 minutes for them to tell me they cancelled my reservation without my knowledge and still charged my card. The manager was disrespectful and lazy. One of the worst experiences I've experienced from a customer service place in my life. I would never use this company again. read more

Extremely disappointed with my experience at Hertz. I arrived around 4:30 PM to pick up the vehicle I had reserved, only to be told that my reserved car was not available. The lead associate said my only options were to pay an additional $20 per day for an SUV or take an electric vehicle at the same rate. This was frustrating because I had already accepted an upgrade through text beforehand and should not have been pressured into paying even more. Since I could not justify the additional charge, I sat in the lobby trying to find another Hertz location or rental company with availability as it approached 5:00 PM. Right then, a woman returned a vehicle, and I overheard the associate tell a newer employee to quickly vacuum it. The newer employee hesitated because it was nearly closing time and suggested giving me another Jeep Compass that had already been cleaned earlier. At that point, it became obvious that I had not been told the truth about vehicle availability. The situation became even more unprofessional from there. The newer associate mentioned that the returned vehicle smelled like smoke. Instead of giving me the freshly returned vehicle, I was given the Jeep Compass that smelled strongly of marijuana. When I brought up the odor, I was told it was "just the cleaner," which was clearly not true. To make matters worse, the employees openly argued and complained about each other in front of me. The lead associate also went into the back to discuss me with the other employee, which felt extremely unprofessional and uncomfortable as a customer. Overall, the experience was dishonest, disorganized, and lacked professionalism. I expect much better customer service and transparency from Hertz. read more

It Hertz to write this. First time we rented here, the woman was dishonest and manipulative about renting to us, but I played her game and took her on and we got our car. Everything went fine, and it ended up being less money. When I returned the car, the manager said that woman had been fired and from now on it would be a wonderful experience here. I was going to give it a 4 star (or 5) based on this. Second time we rented here, same issue as Kris G in 2023. We reserved way in advance, show up on the day, no cars. They only have much more expensive gas guzzling cars. OK, we were desperate, we agreed. Oh, but because it's a different car, it's more than twice the price. How could that be? We had a reservation? They don't care. Treated us abusively and dismissively and probably the worst customer service we've ever had at a rental agency. The only reason I give an extra star is because they suggested the airport, in between treating us like dirt and screwing us over. So we went to the airport and got a lovely car from lovely people (same brand), paying only a little bit more than our reservation. I would rather boost a car from the parking lot of a Trump rally than ever rent a car from this location again. read more

Really bad customer service. No vehicles available. And the vehicle I had reserved needed service. This whole time, you don't know if your vehicles need service or not? Why not reach out to the customer beforehand? The ladies were just laughing and joking the whole time and talking about Amazon sales and talking about the previous customers. Not a sorry or let me help you find something else. It's more of "your problem, not mine". I wouldn't recommend renting from this location. read more

Made a reservation for a cargo van one week before I needed it. Took two days off work to do a move. One HOUR before I was supposed to get the van, I get a call from manager Terrell saying that they don't carry cargo vans so I'm out of luck. No apology and when I asked why I was able to make the reservation and why I wasn't notified before now, he said I was being rude. Don't rent here. Manager could not care less how customers are inconvenienced. read more

Definitely don't come here. Had a reservation at 11am but no cars available. Waited for 1.5 hours still no car

If I could give this location 0 stars, I would. Made a reservation to pick up a car today at 10:30 a.m. I got there shortly after and walked in with my license ready to receive my vehicle. The gentleman at the desk informed me that there were no available cars and I could be added to their "wait-list." They couldn't tell me when they expect the next car. Okay, things happen. I get it. But, KNOWING that you have reservations at 10 a.m. and later, perhaps proactively courtesy calling your customers to let them know of the situation and determining whether or not they wanted to be added to the waitlist would've been excellent customer service. I wasted the cost of a RT Uber to this place, which could've been avoided had I received a courtesy call. If you've made a reservation here, be sure to call ahead to confirm before arriving. read more

WARNING DO NOT RENT FROM THIS COMPANY !!!!! I'm a firefighter and had to fly into Houston one way for a family emergency and had to drive back to Oregon Made my car reservation through Orbitz and was given a confirmation number and on the day I was supposed to fly i received a call from this location and was told that they don't have a car and was left stranded in Houston unless I went through the airport location and paid an additional $1000 for my rental since the location was changed. This is clearly just a way to extort customers for more money Please if you're reading this find another rental company I will be filing a complaint with Orbitz and also contacting the Better Business Bureau read more

This was the absolute worst experience of my life dealing with this place! This location closes at 4 pm. My car was to be returned then on a Friday, and the are closed on weekends. I returned my car once they were closed, I called Hertz 1800 number to let them know. They told me they had a drop box which they didn't. Not a problem! I left the keys under the seat. Called and told them Monday morning, but I told hertz 1800 number that day. Also spoke to the male manager Monday he told me he did see the car there, but he did not know where the keys were. I told him he said with an attitude- calm down, now we know then hung up in my face! The very next day a charge went to my card, they charged me for another day!! I called the Main Street location, told them. They tell me they could not find the keys so they are still charging me for every day they can find the keys!! First off, I have a video from that Sunday. We went to check the car to make sure it was still there and the doors was I fact Unlocked. I have video of us entering the car and closing the door back. Yesterday I called the 1800 number after I spoke with the location, they tried to close the contract but couldn't! Here it is Thursday, and THEY ARE STILL TRYING TO CHARGE MY card. Do NOT GO HERE! I am in the process of contacting the 1800 number again today, I've emailed and filed complaints, and now I'm working with my bank! Also have to get my deposit back! DO NOT GO HERE! They are unprofessional! They do not call you about any problems or questions. I am having hell trying to close out a contract that I've returned the car on, almost a week ago! read more

In the last six months I have rented from here 10 or 12 times so I would say that I have enough experience here to give a reliable review. Overall, it's a pretty normal car rental place, the cars are better quality and in better condition than some other companies near by. Normal deposit amount, and bring your credit card, standard stuff. The staff though! That is the difference here. Destiny is thorough and professional, Johnnie is super friendly, helpful and can answer the tough questions, with a smile, even if you don't like the answer, and I can always count on Jawaun to go above and beyond for me and provide exceptional customer service. And that, is why I come back to this location again and again. They call me before my reservation and let me know if the car I booked is not available and then do everything they can to get me into something else. The Hertz app is glitchy sometimes, people don't return vehicles when expected and the schedule gets messed up, I'm guilty of this, their inventory is not updated in realtime so you can reserve a vehicle online that is not available. Yes, there are things that Hertz could improve, but these things have nothing to do with the staff here. So be nice. read more

Sucks seeing this location have such negative reviews, as the manager (Jonathan I believe?) and the gentleman who helped me, Juwan, were both extremely helpful and professional with helping me get a better car than the one they originally had available for me for my month long rental. They were able to upgrade me from a Chevy Spark (aka a lunch box on wheels) to a full size sedan at the same price I was paying (which was definitely way too much for a Chevy Spark). Thank you guys for helping me after your closing time of 5pm and for being so accommodating. read more

If I could give 0 stars, I would. I don't think I've ever experienced this level of incompetence in my entire life. I won't go too far into the details, but every review you see below mine is accurate. The associates here are rude, unhelpful, and in my instance, reeked of marijuana. The car I reserved months in advance was not ready at its designated time because it was being "serviced". The obviously inebriated associate informed me, while staring at TikTok on his personal phone, and pretending to scroll through inventory on what I hope was his work phone, that they had no comparable vehicles available and that mine would be ready tomorrow. I then asked him to check with other local Hertz locations and he said he would be unable to do so because their systems do not link. Which was a lie. I ended up taking a much smaller vehicle and got charged extra because the associate said I picked it up an hour later than my scheduled 10:30 appointment. I called and complained but I'm also leaving this review because these people are terrible. Avoid this location at all costs. read more

Juwan. Someone please fire this man. He lacks absolutely all professionalism. After making a hour and a half journey to pick up a car, we walked in 15 minutes before they closed at noon on a Saturday. We didn't know they closed at noon as most places on a Saturday are open until 5 at least. When we walk in Juwan says to me that they do not have any rental cars for me, except one. He was going to charge me more for the upgraded car which was ridiculous. I told him are there any other Hertz around. He said yeah, I'll give you some numbers to call and I'll call some too. He didn't call a damn person, instead his ignorant self decided to open a bag of Doritos and just munch on them while IM DOING HIS JOB. My mother was infuriated with this POS and told him we drove from X place to get here. He said, he doesn't know or care because he's not from here Houston or Texas. Wowwww. the worst rental agency and their general manager is a liar and disrespectful. we rented a vehicle and went to pick it but they did not have any vehicles available. Just a really horrendous experience overall. Needed to get to a funeral for a friend that has committed suicide, Hertz reps in Houston don't care AT ALL. I had my reservation confirmed at this location. I called at 8 in the morning to check if there would be something available slightly earlier. They said no and that I would need to come at the designated pickup time of 12. That was totally fine. I Uber over at 12 to the location only to find out there would be nothing available for hours. I never received a call from the staff to let me know before I paid money to get there that this was the case. Of course this is extremely upsetting because we had family engagements and a funeral to get to for a friend who committed suicide. The manager Johnny and other hertz rep Juwan were incredibly unprofessional and showed no care toward the fact that they were literally leaving people stranded with no solutions. They Juwan tried to gaslight me and say that they told me to call an hour before which they did not. What company doesn't call customers to let them know services could not be followed through on? They are running a scam here. Johnny also "threatened to sue me" because I was recording the situation to ensure I had appropriate documentation for reimbursement for corporate. It has been almost two hours at this point in an extremely uncompassionate situation where anyone would be incredibly upset. I then call corporate to schedule a car at a new location. I ask Hertz corporate line to ensure they call the next branch to check availability. They ensured there would be a car at the next location. There was not. So again I spent money to Uber back and forth only to be inconvenienced again. The manager at the previous location Johnny, gave me Bobby Dumas's number, the district manager for the region. She then apologies for the inconvenience and let's me know "they are trying to get everyone in a car" and that she would call me back with an update. She did not and left me hanging the rest of the night and proceeds to report me to Hertz. It is truly tragic that people could not care about leaving people stranded like this and be so negligent about customer concerns. I hope Hertz addresses this situation and fires everyone involved. I will never be renting from Hertz in Houston again and will be filing complaints with the Attorney General as well as BBB. Trust the reviews, do not rent here. read more

Horrible experience. I made early reservation and pre-paid rental fee before I arrived Houston to go to the cancer center. Hertz accepted my reservation and sent me a confirmation. I re-confirmed my reservation 2 days before the rental date. I called Hertz on the day to pick up my rental car. Hertv of Hertz answered the call, and he looked up my confirmation. He said, "I have your reservation. I don't have your car." I told Hertv, " I have been a long time customer. You have my contact numbers, e-mails, etc. Why you didn't tell me if you didn't have a car earlier?" Hertv responded, "I don't have your car!" I called Hertz Reservation and told this event with Hertv. I requested full refund without paying any fee. Peggy of Hertz Reservation refunded fully. Placed a confirmed reservation a month in advance for a minivan. I called the day before my trip to see if I can pick-up the vehicle an hour early. My call was finally answered on my 3rd attempt. I was informed they were totally out of minivans and large SUVs. I reminded that I had placed my reservation a month in advance. The agent informed me to wait for a call back in an hour from him, as he tried searching for a van. I never got a call, so I called and was told the agent was out for 30 mins. I called 40 mins later: no vehicle, but asked me to call back in 2 hours. I quit then, and reserved through another company. Too much hassle for something that should've been confirmed. It's a good thing I called in advance, otherwise, it would've been a disaster looking for a last minute vehicle. I've always preferentially chosen Hertz (first time to deal with this rental location), but this is the first time I've had such a bad experience with ANY car rental business. I am beyond disappointed and outraged with this particular location. I came here in good faith after my car accident and unfortunately my rental contract was completely mishandled. After discovering a large pending amount on my bank account, I tried to explain to Ryan, the Hertz representative, that I was being incorrectly charged. He acknowledged that the incorrect insurance information had been placed into the system but stated he could not help me. To make a very long story somewhat short, Hertz customer service stated only the location could correct the issue and release the hold on my account. Even though this location admitted to the error, they refused to release the hold on my account. Unfortunately, this is my first experience with the company/location and will be my last. *** The car I received was filthy on the outside, had a half a tank of gas, and didn't have any windshield washer fluid.*** read more

Hertz is a joke. I'm from out of town and was there for a few days. I went to pick up my rental that was already booked and paid for only to find that someone decided to put up a sign saying they were closed at 12pm and would be closed the following day. The hours of operation are 9-6pm. When I called customer service they claimed they were going to call someone to assist me. They ended up hanging up. I called again, they hung up. I called a THIRD time and they told me they would have someone call me within 20 minutes. I got no call. And I'm stranded outside of a closed Hertz in a city I've never been to. I ended up going to Enterprise down the street. Much better service, I should have just booked with them initially. Save your dollars and rent your car from a company that actually gives quality service and doesn't just close up shop because someone decided they didn't want to work that day. read more

If I could give them zero stars, I would. This was by far the most repulsive, unprofessional experience I have ever had by a company I didn't even seek service from. I was in a car accident. Some guy ran a red light. In the end, their insurance company sent me to this Hertz. Car 1: I was given a car that was supposed to last me for the entire duration. However, a week later, the left front head light goes out. How did I find out? I got pulled over by police while driving at night!! LUCKILY, the police let me go without a ticket. So I had to face the inconvenience of taking their car back to them when I would have been working the next day, and they took forever to assist me. A glacier moves faster than the staff here. Car 2: I was given another car. When I got in, IMMEDIATELY, the smell of strong cigarette smoke came. It's as if someone smoked inside the car with all windows up 15 minutes before it was given to me. It was EXTREMELY dirty with cigarette ash all over the steering wheel, dashboard, seats (seats where black) and shoe prints all over the back seats and the exterior was just all dirty. It was not washed. I had to go back to work, they had me wait an hour. When I finally turned it in because my car was ready, I could not be happier. However, as I was returning the car to Hertz, I notices the the inspection sticker had expired, by 3 months. So I told them about it because I could have been stopped YET AGAIN for it. Instead of apologizing for their error, the staff member just said "oh it should be for two years". Really? Well how do I know that? How does the police that stops me or stops the next person know that? If it's for two years like they said, then place the darn right sticker! I would not recommend this place if they had the last working car in the world like on War of the Worlds, because it probably wouldn't even go very far. read more

I am currently writing this review while waiting for a car rental. I have been sitting here for two hours !!!! I came in with a reservation , I called before and he said he had two cars ready. I get here and the car that is for me needed an oil change. Per the guy that helped me I won't mention his name because he was very nice but told me the oil cchange was going to be 30 minutes which turned into 2 hours. I told him I have to get my kids and he is like well it is going to be a while. This is ridicoulous. I am beyond upset to the point I will be calling corporate this is unacceptable business. The right thing for him to do would have been to get a car from another location and get it to me. I am going to keep my peace because not doing so won't get any result. He keeps answering the phone and taking calls when he knows he has no cars.. what's the point.. I won't ever be back here ever !! The only reason why this place gets an extra star is because not his customer service and attitude but he needs to learn how to resolve issues. I was told twenty minutes ago it would be 10 more minutes and guess what still waiting..well by the time I ended my review I thought the guy Ryan was nice but he did not even apologize for me waiting at all!!
