Service is quick, evenly spaced out appetite and entrees which is nice without being rushed. Having a reservation on a Saturday night is must. We came in ad s party of 4, thankfully we had reservations, the place was packed, the bar and restaurant were full. Once sat, our sever went over the cocktails and beer list, taking appetizer and shareable orders. Once the appetizers came out we put in for entrees and then dessert. Starting with the ceviche, incredible flavor with the tight touch of heat and citrus balance, almost made me wish I ordered 2 so I could have it as my entree as well. The chickpeas were perfectly seasoned with great texture. For our entrees we opted for the paperdale, house made, banh mi pork sandwich, a burger and the scallops. Everything was cooked perfectly, albeit the scallops were not so satisfying the mix of flavors were off for me, maybe it was the mushroom. We also had the white chocolate Jerry bread pudding, the perfect end to a meal, I'm a sucker for bread pudding.

It's the kind of place that works for a night out with the girls or a corporate dinner, and I love a spot that can do both. I truly enjoyed my pasta dish. I'm not even usually into mushrooms, but I definitely was here. The only downside was that the service felt a little slow. It wasn't a particularly busy night, so the pace was a bit surprising. Overall, though, it was a solid experience.

I was in the area and asked a friend about good eats around. Char was one of the recommendations, so I stopped in for lunch. My experience was not memorable. AMBIANCE: The ambiance is rustic and moody. Exposed brick walls, gorgeous wood bar, and ambient lighting. The main hues are calm browns and earthy tones. The feel is modern and intimate. Barrels and barrel tops add extra touch of whiskey expertise. Mark Twain's whiskey quote adds to the refined mood. Plenty of seating is available at the bar and at tables. Few groups were dining in during my visit. Leather-ish chairs make it a comfy seating experience. FOOD/DRINKS: The bar is known for whiskey, over 300 types. You'll find some local Ohio and rare pours at Char. Aside from whiskey, you'll find craft cocktails, mimosa bar (during brunch), Bloody Mary, wines, beers, seltzers, and drafts. It was Dry January, so I couldn't experience any of the boozy selections. I was disappointed to not find any mocktails and very limited N/A options - coffee, sodas, iced tea, Pellegrino, and two N/A beers. Feels like a big miss considering current trends. Plenty of food was available during my visit. It was the in-between of brunch and lunch. I had two menus to select from. Refreshing to see so many choices. I ordered Char burger ($18) and did not enjoy it. Char means that it comes charred or black. Plenty of problems with this burger with the main one being dryness. The bartender mentioned that the burger comes with housemaid chips. Instead the burger arrived with fries. Plenty of them, but the fries were cold and dry like they sat out for a while. The burger barely had any cheese or onion straws. The pretzel bun was extremely dry. Short rib was dry and lacked sauce. Meat (local grass-fed beef) was really good and tasted like something from the market. Excellent meat but overcooked. I asked for medium and it was well done. I separated burger meat by itself and ate it, but only accomplished to eat half. Good value for high quality meat, but impossible to eat due to ingredient proportions and dryness. I was disappointed in this burger. SERVICE: The service was bland. There was one waitress serving the entire restaurant - bar and dining room, so I get it. The mood wasn't especially inviting. I wasn't greeted, wasn't asked if I need a box or whether my food was good. It was just very minimalistic interaction that I didn't enjoy. It seemed like regulars got a warm welcome so that's a plus. VALUES: The restaurant advertises weekly specials and happy hours. Whiskey Wednesday and Tuesday Burger night seem the most exciting. PARKING: Private parking lot is available behind the plaza. Plaza gets very lively during daytime. I really wanted to love Char but it was a disappointment for me. The restaurant decor was my only favorite. Perhaps it's a good place to savor whiskey. But between mediocre food and service it was a one-time visit for me. I'd rather go to other restaurants in the area that focus on food quality and hospitality.

I visited for the first time for lunch in late October 2025 with friends. After lunch, we all went…read moredownstairs to play mini golf and we had so much fun. FOOD -- I ordered the Slow Braised Pork ($22) which includes sweet potato gnocchi, fennel, crispy sage, and apple cider glaze. This was a delicious and very hearty meal. I hardly eat pork so I'm glad that I enjoyed the dish. The sweet potato gnocchi was perfectly paired with the pork. Everything in the dish just blended well together. All my friends enjoyed their food too, from the meatballs, calamari, burger with fries, ratatouille, and more. I nibbled on a few of them and loved it especially the wagyu meatballs. The food was all full of flavour. Service was nice all afternoon as the server came to check on us a few times including refilling our water glasses. MINI GOLF -- Head downstairs to play some games. You pay a fee and are then given score sheets. A friend's friend had surprisingly paid for all of us and I had no idea until the next day (for some reason I thought the mini golf was included in the lunch cost...LOL). Each golf game has a different course with some being more challenging than others. I recommend Birdietown Mini Golf and Lounge for a fun day of mini golf plus lunch. I can see myself coming back again. **** GOAL of 250 reviews in 2026 - 48/250 total reviews in 2026 - 889 total Yelp reviews - Reviewed on 24 April 2026

We have 8-10 people so they just had us split into two, which was fine. The vibe was great, felt very upscale. My group mostly got mocktails. I felt like for just juice it was definitely over priced, because I felt like I was just drinking lemonade as we were playing mini golf. We only paid to play the upstairs holes, and it was good enough for us. We did not make a reservation for dinner which we regretted, but they were able to get us two tables in the downstairs area. Not a traditional seating, it was very comfy with one side being a booth and the otherwise having two comfy lounge chairs. I ordered the chicken sandwich, which was large and delicious. The chicken was well fried and the bread was so good. The fries were good, but the aioli was 12/10, so so so good! The food did take some time to come, but they were busy and were kind enough to find a spot for us. I told the staff it was someone birthday in our group and they brought a special birthday dessert which we al tried and it was great. Their menu is worth the price and the vibe is definitely jeans and a nice shirt, or a casual dress. Perfect for date night or a birthday dinner, and I look forward to coming back. The TLDR: staff was really nice, food was great, mocktails a little expensive, and the mini golf was super fun.

I was excited to stop in for a cocktail. We love finding quaint new places with an interesting appeal and from afar this certainly met those details. However, we stopped in this past Saturday, for my daughter's birthday celebration. I was super pumped to come back - ( see sentences above! ) Anyway, 4 of us walked in ( there would be a total of 6 ) and while yes it's small, not too small for a small party of 6. There was a couple at the bar and a girl who was drinking a mimosa in a robe so I think it's safe to assume she was getting a treatment from the spa. We had been inside about 10-15 minutes with no bar tender or staff to be seen. I saw the couple received their drinks but while we were taking pics, I never saw a staff member- so I asked them if there was anyone taking orders. He said yes, they were in other room. Still nobody coming out. Our other two members of our party arrived and we looked at menus and still no one. Finally, a girl comes out. Walks over, does not even say hello, and says: do you want drinks?!?! We put our orders in and 1 minute later she comes out and says, um this table is reserved ( or something close to that ) in 20 minutes and actually we will probably need both tables soooo.........so I guess that was our que to say never mind. I guess had they come out and taken our order when we first arrived it would have been fine, but we weren't looking to do shots with our full size drinks. No apologies or anything just like ok bye when we said we would go somewhere else. So here's my input: 1. Sacred Hour- do not advertise this space to the outside community if you can only accommodate your clients that are receiving services. 2. Train your staff. A hello, A greeting, something, anything. Not - "do you want drinks?!" That in itself was so distasteful. Not to mention the prices of drinks are not cheap. This is an upscale place ( or appears to be ) 3. Bottom line- we will not return. Quite honestly, I'm not sure if I would return back to this location for my spa services either. I think that people have forgotten how to be courteous and polite. People do not realize ( or maybe they do and just don't care ) that the reason they stay in business is because of their customers. Treating your customers with kindness is epic. You know the old saying - you get more bees with honey?!? Well, Tribu- maybe you should rethink this and add it to your training instead of coffee or tea!
