I have been going to all bubble waffle stalls and cafe in Richmond and by far this location is the worst of all. Being the first pioneer location in Richmond, I was very disappointed when I found out that the owner have changed. Not only they are not offering any discount for online order (used to be 10% off for online order), they also do not allow you to redeem the loyalty stamp card for a bubble waffle on weekends now. The food quality has gone down hill compared to before especially the dry noodle. I think the Indomie Mie Goreng instant noodle taste even better. No discount, no redeeming stamp cards on weekend, so why would I come here? I will take my business somewhere else given that there are so many bubble waffles location out there that offers discount for online order, give out loyalty stamp for purchase and allow to redeem it 7 days a week. If you are in Aberdeen food court, take your money somewhere else. Plenty of other food court stalls that serves delicious food for the same price. read more

If I'm looking for a quick bite in Richmond, BC this is definitely one of the places I'll come to. Situated on the top of a mall in a food court stand is Bubble Waffle. The name can be quite deceiving because they sell more than just bubble waffles but I can tell that they pride themselves in their waffles. (Which in my opinion, the bubble waffles are okay but not fantastic.) With almost every order, they have the option to add an order of waffles for $1. This time around my friends and I ordered a fair amount of food and the cost came to a total of around $30CAD. That's pretty reasonable for 4 full dishes, 3 drinks and a bubble waffle. The service isn't the greatest and the workers definitely had an attitude. It is food court food so really what do you expect. For the amount of food and the cost I think it is worth it. read more

There is limited parking for this plaza and you should go after 7pm because that is when those reserved stalls expire to open for more parking stalls. They do ticket cars here. For the drink I got a coffee and milktea with a side of bubble waffles. The laksa tasted good. It was spicy, sour and creamy. They gave generous amount of noodles, meat and chinese cabbage. The only thing I disliked was that there was too much chinese cabbage. I much prefer the regular laksa with the bean sprouts. I didn't get any of those here. The coffee and milktea drink was pretty good. I can taste the coffee and the milktea that was used to make it. Right amount of sugar content as well. The best part of this meal is the bubble waffle. If you're patient enough to deal with slow service and Chinese people who dunno how to line up in lines, then you'll be rewarded with some pretty damn good egg waffles and milk tea. The egg waffles were crispy on the outside and soft, slightly chewy on the inside. We also ordered a couple of flavors like green tea and sesame. While the flavored ones were good, nothing beat the original. The original's custard-y flavor of eggs and vanilla made it irresistible. Their milk tea is pretty good too, and they give you a large cup for just $2. It's not as bold as the milk tea at McNoodle House, but it got the job done. It still had good richness and a noticeable tea flavor. Be sure to order it with less ice and less sweetness. Compared to anything in California, their milk tea is still pretty great. read more

Judging by the constant lineups at this place no matter what time of day you know this is a favorite with people at this food fair. Their formula of custom made to order noodle soups, tasty sides, and low price combos ($7-8) works. While I would say Deer Garden serves up better noodle soups you can't fairly compare the two as one is a sit down restaurant while this is fast food (well, 5-10 minutes to make your food). Having said that I haven't been disappointed yet with their noodle soups. The soup bases have enough depth and don't taste MSG-like. The bubble waffles are good. I'd rate their curry fish balls as average. The do a pretty decent job at their drinks. My fav here is their cold Yin Yang (coffee and tea). Worth checking out if you're at the food fair. read more

This is definitely my favorite bubble waffle / Hong Kong snack restaurant. The wait for food is a little long, which is understandable because of their popularity and number of customers. I ordered the rice rolls with shumai and curry fish balls, and their famous bubble waffle. They both taste just like the ones in Hong Kong! I expected a crisp snap as I reached to break off my first piece. There was no crisp snap. It was a tear. OK. The center was not airy but chewy. Flavor: OK. Milky tea: I always up size my drink and they just put more ice cube to fill up the difference. Such a lazy bad practice. I ordered take out but I ate it at food court tee hee. They probably think ice cube will melt by the time I start eating. WRONG. The amount of ice cube they put in is ridiculous. You are better off asking no ice or less ice. Noodle soup and all the rest: not sure about the hype of their noodle soup. Barely enough meat for two topping combo, just butt load of veggies. If you see the whole combo at one price then it looks good deal. But if you look only at the noodle soup it is nothing to write home about. It is unfathomable how Vancouver has never seen any good HK waffle vendors up until now. Many of them have come and gone over the years because none of them were any good. Eventually I surrendered to the reality that the only way to have the good stuff is to fly back to the motherland until all of a sudden -- BOOM!!! Bubble Waffle popped up out of nowhere. HALLELUJAH!!!! =) Yup...it really is that tasty. The sweet waffle batter is characterized by an insanely intense egg flavour -- exactly the way it should be. It comes in two forms -- same batter but shaped with different waffle irons: 1) bubble waffle - pleasant light crisp on the outside; slightly moist, tender and soft on the inside. It is shaped like a sheet of little balls, or bubbles, which makes for a convenient finger snack., offered in several flavours: original, black sesame, green tea, strawberry and chocolate, if I remember correctly. Highly recommend the original and black sesame. 2) waffle sandwich: conventionally shaped, with a delicious peanut butter and jam filling. Must be some kind of special concoction because it does not taste like any old peanut butter and jam spread done at home..... I go there only for the waffles because everything else there is very average, in my opinion. If you are hungry for a full meal, an order of bubble waffles can be added to a soup noodle combo for merely an extra $1, which is a decent deal when they charge $3.75 a la carte. Besides the namesake items, they also sell traditional HK street vendor snacks like curry fish balls on skewers, rice rolls, milk tea and such. I'd pass on these other items. Just beware that service would likely be slow during lunch peak hours, delays usually because of the waffles since many people order the noodle/ waffle combo. Whenever I have a meeting in Richmond, I always end up going here for lunch! It's delicious and such a good deal! I always get the Combo 2 which includes a hot or cold drink, either an original bubble waffle or hk style waffle (waffle with peanut butter and condensed milk), and a noodle soup with 2 toppings. All this for $8.35 (includes tax!!) While not as big as deer garden, I feel like the quality is pretty similar! They have a WAY bigger selection of toppings though (they have lamb!!!) and there's no extra charge for getting a cold drink like some other places. The combo is totally worth it because you get the bubble waffle, which on it's own is already $3.95. If you go during the meal time rushed, the wait is pretty long - maybe 10-15 minutes? But honestly, I would say it takes that long if you're sitting down at a restaurant anyways. Also, the bubble waffles are fresher when it's busy - you're more likely to get a pack where they're actually warm. If you go during the off time, the waffles are premade so they aren't warm anymore. But the overall texture is surprisingly not compromised! I love the waffles here because they're crispy but still chewy and soft, also not too sweet but still has the correct flavour! I'm rating the Bubble Waffle booth inside the food court at Aberdeen Centre mall. Hope this is the right one. Their lemon tea is good and makes a cheap refreshing drink for $2. The only annoying thing is the drink also comes with lots of lemon seeds. Their noodle dishes are good. The Special Swiss sauce instant noodle is a sweet sauce dish. The Indonesian instant noodle is spicy but flavorful. Also tried their noodle combo - parsley fish and century egg soup + instant noodle + pork blood + pig skin. Their sauce or soup noodles are around the $6 range. There's always a line-up at this booth so I know their food is fresh, but it's not the place to buy food if you are in a hurry. What makes their bubble waffle good? Taste: The green tea flavor really comes through, which is not the case for other bubble waffle places. I've also tried original (good) and black sesame (tasted strictly like sesame seeds - not what I expected, but not bad.. I had the black sesame bbt flavor in mind). All are not overly sweetened. Texture: Crunchy on the outside, soft, moist and chewy on the inside. Freshness: Always made to order. This stand is one of the more popular ones in Aberdeen Center. I can always expect at least a 20 minute wait. I have yet to try their food because there's so many delicious eats in Richmond, but will definitely give it a try when I'm up there for more than a weekend. read more

The drinks are spot on and so is the bubble waffle. However, the wait is practically unbearable and also pretty disorganized on a Saturday afternoon. I guess they skip numbers due to what you order being available but it makes for a lot of nervous people crowding around waiting for your order. Rice rolls were hot, and the sauces were tasty! I love that they don't skimp on the food. However, the front staff can be friendlier and make eye contact with their customers. One of the front staff was watching a show/movie on her phone while waiting to call on people when food was ready. Curry fishballs, mixed rice canonoli, fish siu mai dumplings, etc. In fact the line ups here were nuts! We waited over 30 mins and still people were pouring in. Bubble waffles 3.75 Crispy on the outside, warm and tender on the inside. Quite opposite from the stale ones over at Rainbow Cafe (Parker Place). It is moist and is complete with a fragrant egg and milkiness. Also comes in other flavours: Strawberry, sesame, green tea, chocolate and cheesecake. Hong Kong Rice Roll Combo: Curry fishballs, rice canonoli and fish siu mai 5.50 had a lot of spice and were quite bouncy. Fish Siu Mai weren't as good as I imagined, but still decent. 4 fish balss, 4 siu mais and lots of rice canonolis.
